I've heard the same thing..
The announcement is expected sometime in Dec - oh joy, just in time for x-mas! How thoughtful of them! not...
Funniest thing today..
I thought this WAS the JOKE OF THE DAY ... NM
The funniest thing I saw at SoftScript
The simple reason that I quit was because the emails sent to us by the coordinators and supervisors were so full of grammatical and spelling errors that I could not believe my eyes. It seriously looked like a third grader with a learning disability had written the emails. I could not believe that a transcription professional could write such garbage. FULL of errors. I had a second job anyway and I went full time with the second job.
Goodness that is the funniest thing sm
I have read!
That's the most dehumanizing thing I've heard in ages
Okay, I don't have any intention to going to Transcend even BEFORE I read this piece of information. I immediately bailed and am happily already working somewhere else with another PT lined up I start Monday 'just in case' (the old eggs/basket theory here).

But THIS???

That is dehumanizing, demoralizing, and REPUGNANT behavior on the part of ANY employer. I am sick to my stomach reading that, OP.

Vile does not even begin to describe the attitude of ANY company that would have such an attitude toward an employee having a family problem.

I WILL give this to MDI-MD, and I do not believe my sister MTs will argue. Those people were WONDERFUL when an emergency arose and we were called away, whether it was for a few hour or a few days. Never a word, except words of encouragement and to say they hoped things worked out well and to keep them posted. I, to this day, believe they honestly did have compassion in this regard.

But THAT is what those staying have to look forward at Transcend?

I am SO grateful I immediately jumped ship. I could never work for an organization that treated people that way.

I'm so sorry for your loss and for the extra unnecessary and INEXCUSABLE stress you were put through during your time of need.
FUNNIEST THING..they all think you're making all this big money (LMAO) -nm

Sounds like you've been reading too many "Donna" posts, ROFLMAO nm
nm
Actually you are wrong about the payday thing. It states clearly that sm

the pay dates are 08/03 and 08/17, so unless your bank magically gets money for you, it has nothing to do with posting dates.

As for the insurance thing, I'm like the other poster.  I didn't even get my new cards until last week and until then I thought I had screwed up and didn't even get the extra coverage.  I'm not bashing Keystrokes.  I just think they could have waited one more pay period and given people a heads up, this is coming thing for those of us not as wise as you obviously are.

Some states/companies have a noncompete thing going on. It took years for Diskriter to be able to
s
I've heard only positive things about them. So, I applied, but haven't heard a word. Maybe fl
nm
I though unions not legal in some states (right-to-work states) nm
nm
I've only heard of Intellitype. Never heard of Teletype.
x
What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
I've been a QA 15 years and I've never heard
of any company only paying for the actual Keystrokes of the blank. You would literally make less than minimum wage that way. Waaay less.
never heard of such a thing
there are companies out there doing it including some MTs, that's how some companies are getting away with not downsizing...it's a sign of the times
I have never heard of such a thing.
nm
Never heard a thing.
I sent my resume in the first day the ad was posted and sent a followup email the following week. Never heard a word.
I have been an IC for 15 years, and I have never heard such a thing.
How would the IRS know what my schedule is or was. I just submit 1099's with income, take my write-off's, and pay my self employment tax. No where do I submit my scheduled hours or am I asked when filing my return.

I have heard of that same thing happening to
someone else and they were out of a job. Knowing the person it happened to and the quality of her work, I knew what she told me was correct and I would never apply there. I hope all their editors leave and put out the message that you just will not stand to be treated this way. As far as the outsourcing, I knew they outsourced.
I've been saying the same thing...
for years now!! I just don't get it. Back in 1990 when my son was a baby I worked for a large national. I was an employee with benefits full-timer and I was being paid 10 cents/line!!! Things have gotten so bad and I'm lucky to have my own accounts with decent line rates, but when there is no work (like today due to the Holiday), I suffer. I panic and every day I wake up scared of this industry. I am leaving soon....looking at all sorts of other options. This business has gone downhill fast on a slippery slope and it just continues to deteriorate. Feels good to vent..thanks for listening.
OMG! You are the funniest..........nm
nm
This is the first I've heard about it...sm
and why would someone leave the company over QA problems?  If they're not a good MT then that's not the company's fault.
I've heard of them, go for it. nm
x
Yes I've heard of them
and worked for Tanya for awhile. She is extremely, extremely nice and amicable, but it just wasn't the job for me. Hope this helps.
I've heard both yes and no, so I'm not sure. Most say yes. nm
xxx
I've always heard...sm
that there are an average of 10 five-letter words in a 65-character line, which would mean there are also 10 (or 9 possibly) spaces you are paid for. So 55 characters without spaces would probably be about the same as as 65-character line.

I've done a few checks on reports by dividing number of words by 10 to get total lines and/or number of characters divided by 65 to get total lines and it is pretty close to a 65-character line with spaces... not always, because a lot depends on what you're transcribing, whether it uses a lot of big words or small words, etc., but I think overall it pretty much averages out. You'd have to try it and do the comparison on that particular account or work type to find out for sure. Hope this helps.
I've never heard of that (sm)
I had contacted Sprint to see if DSL was available and it wasn't. I guess I'll call them back to inquire about that. Thank you.
10-15 cpl for CMT? The most I've ever heard sm
was a half a cent or three quarters of a cent more than without the CMT.  I'd also question how much this person actually knows if she has to point out that CMT needs to be through AHDI/AAMT and not college, MT school, etc.?  I mean, last I heard there is only one place to obtain CMT cert.
thanks...I've never even heard of that before

I've never heard of that either.
We get paid per line, but like the AP said, we get credit for the full report. I have never heard of anyone that gets paid per correction. That's nuts.
I'm not really sure about PT. I've heard that they do or they used to and don't (sm)
anymore. You could go to their website www.keystrokestranscription.com and either contact them by e-mail or phone. I'm sorry, I wish I could answer you but I really don't know for sure.
I've heard the same about them.
Plus, my company is losing several accounts to them. They do offshore quite a bit of their work which is why they can boast low rates for clients.
I've always heard it used
as in jockeying for position, as in jones'n around to strike the first blow in a cat fight.
I've never heard of them, but
I looked at their website. They say American only. I find it curious looking at the executive management page that many of the management are former Medquist people. I don't know if that's good or bad!
I wonder if they are losing a lot of accounts lately. I have heard other MTs saying the same thing
from different offices.
Haven't heard a thing about a sale.
Not a thing.
I never, ever heard of such a thing, even when I worked in-house.
nm
Do you like the Imail thing? I've never
tried it yet.
I've often wondered the same thing...
Why offshore to save money if you're just going to have to hire editors to correct the mistakes? Sounds like it DUH-feats the whole purpose of it to me!
Thanks. I've been clocking out for every little thing (sm)
to try to keep my line count as high as possible, but the result is it takes FOREVER to get in 8 hours.
I've wondered the same thing...

Sure has been quiet since they started bouncing checks, not paying their MTs at all, etc.  I just assumed they had changed their name and were incognito somewhere here.

I've wondered about the same thing if...
the IT guy came in remotely and cleaned off anything related to the company and its activities so you were just left with a clean system. Sometime you just like a computer that works great and it would be nice to own it for cheap when leaving a company rather than them paying for shipping back and doing who knows what with it as a used computer when they get it back. Just my thoughts, nothing I have ever done or asked for.
I've never gotten any. The whole acct thing sm
is usually sprung on us like a big surprise and really throws a curveball.  Suddenly all these emails, half the time there are no account specifics.  Very disorganized.
I've been thinking the same thing.
I stayed with the Q too long into the downslide. You are so right, it has a familiar smell. I cannot see myself doing that again. Just don't know if there are any more decent companies out there.
And to think, they get all of their stuff from CHINA!
whoa!
Either China or Japan - right now, we are actually
money from them EVERY DAY to pay for the war in Iraq. So, when it's all over and the fat lady sings - she'll probably be singing in Chinese or Japanese, because at that rate, they WILL own us.
Actually it was probably made in China - LOL.

It may soon be the other way around. China has bailed
xx
I've heard of them but have never worked for them.
Originally, it was a mother/daughter team in Montana.  Evidently now, the daughter's in Wisconsin but they still have an office in Montana.  Nice enough people.  I worked with the son-in-law for a while at another job.  The workload is easy, but I don't know how steady it is.  I applied with them when I was a newbie but found a job elsewhere for more pay.
I've heard that about this company.....sm
it's too bad that they require new hires to work one weekend day, otherwise I'd be applying with them.
I've been there longer than that and I never heard ot it.
