Is 9cpl a good pay for employee position with benefits?
    Trying to make comparisons.  Thanks
Well I'm currently making 10 to 12 cpl as employee
so I have benefits as well, vacation, PTO, and 401K with partial matching.  WebMedx is hiring.   I think that is the rate they offer all ICs.  They are constantly hiring but there are frequent posts about no work - don't understand it.
IC versus employee...if you are making...sm
If you were making 8 cents a line as an IC what would that equal to as an employee?  I know there are many factors, such as deductions, etc. as an IC, but overall, would that be the same as making 7 cents a line?  I am just trying to wrap my head around a couple of different offers and the pay just seems to get lower and lower.  Thanks.
same way an employee making $8 an hour. Hold some back.

I think they are GREAT! Making better $$ now than ever!
    nm
Have you been making less than $16/hr for 11 years?
I hope not.  If so, poor you after 11 years!  If not, you better get ready for the pay cut.
after making such a great advertising for your company...sm
that EVEN provides its special Expander and TRAININ G, could you finally also name this WONDERFUL COMPANY?

Why else would you tell us about this so phantastic company?

GREAT - so as long as the next cut is under 32% we will still be making big bucks, right? nm

    I was making 6.5 cpl in 1975!!! So --- 30 years later,
does gas still cost what it did in 1975? NOT!

Is housing the same as in the 70s? NOT!

Can you fill your grocery cart for what it cost you in 1975? NOT!

(In fact, here in 2008, can you afford to fill your grocery cart at ALL? NOT!)

So I'd sure like to know why they think they can get away with paying us 70's wages, or why we accept the insulting pittance they pay, when we have to pay 21st-century prices for everything.

I've pretty much had it with working for the middlemen (MTSO's), and applaud the few hospitals and clinics that have kept their work on-site. That's where I'm headed next, folks, even if it means pulling up stakes and moving.
I was making .06 cpl in 1977. So even 10 years ago,
the wage of .06 cpl for medical transcription was a complete ripoff by the MTSO.

I suppose, 10-15 more years down the line, when a box of Cheerios costs 11.50, a gallon of gas is 29.95, and the average 1-bedroom apartment rents for around 3700.00/month, they'll STILL expect us to work for .06 cpl. After all, they've gotten away with it for the last 30 years, why not 30 more?
I just left a company after 10 years, making only
    nm
Having the years in MTing is making no difference
with the pay. If that were the case I would be making the big $$$ as I have over 30 years. You are either going to have to learn or find another profession, that is unless you are perhaps working for a specialty group of physicians, not these companies. I was outsourced from a hospital position to a company. Do you really think that company takes into consideration the years I have in? Nah, doesn’t happen. Having said that, I am extremely happy I know VR and use it now, only work an 8 hour day and can make good money doing that.
I know of someone with years of experience making 8-1/4 cpl doing mostly Op notes. Think pay starts
    s
Why should I go back to making 9 cpl when I make 11 cpl now?? I made 8 cpl over 12 years ago.

Great pay, great benefits for 11+ years..sm
I've just started with this great company (eMTS).  I have 11+ years of experience and I was started at .10 per line as a regular employee, not IC, with a huge sign-on bonus, full benefits, very nice people, and a good account.  So far, this is the best experience I've had in my years as a transcriptionist.  Unfortunately, I don't believe they're hiring more right now, but you could always check in with them, they're online at eMTS.com.  The management seems to really care and they work with you.
I am still making good money with a natl. Not giving up yet. Just need about 10 more years and I a

It is the only place I have been for 5 years that I feel I am not being ripped off and making money
I work hard but I did for the other companies too and bit by bit more things were stripped away and I would end up making half again. Keystrokes has given me confidence again, and I am making money. That is the name of the game, that is me though. I love it here.
I left after nine years in June before the pay cut and I am very happy in my new position and making

I am a current Transcend employee and think they are great.

Any new job takes time to learn.  Give it a little while longer and see how it goes, check in with your Team Leader, they can really help you.

    Good Luck.

I can cut it, I do over 1800 lines in 7 hrs. I think I am the great employee. nm
    .
Great company and they pay employee insurance. nm
    x
Oh great - Another psychic employee!! HAHAHA
How about just saying yes, it is 70% of your line rate instead of making up rumors.
Never. I have been an employee since day 1, 6 years ago. sm
They had some ICs but it was less than half and changed them to employees 3 years ago so that they could have schedules. Most people in the last 8 years were hired as employees with all being hired as employees in the last 4 years.

you "think they're great." Would you dismiss an employee with that 1st sent?

Read thru the ads and see, but 8-9cpl is what's being

Any Co. paying at least 9cpl for
I have over 10 years of experience and would love to find a company that pays at least 9 cpl.  Are there any out there?  Thanks
Which companies pay at least 9cpl?
I think we 10+ year, experienced MTs that only get 7 cpl would love to know the answer to this questions.   thanks
Abosolutely satisified. Been IC for 18 years - hopefully will never go back to employee. nm

I have had a great experience and have been with KS for 4 years. sm
Unfortunately, I think that everyone has a different experience at each company and it really depends who you deal with. I am happy at KS, as is my sister and a friend of hers but another friend of mine did not have a good start up and left after two weeks. It is all in who you work with, and this seems to be the norm at all the companies.

I do know that they have been growing steadily for the past 5 years or so and continue to grow. The things that are important to me are covered in that I make good money, love my account, get paid on time and am left alone as long as I do my work. I get good feedback and have had good experiences when I needed time off unexpectedly.

The best way with any company is to call and get your own "feel" for the company.

I am sure that if you were hired, quit your job, had everything installed and then did not hear back, that you are leaving something out here. If you were installed, why did you not start working?

I worked for them several years ago and they were great but
I've seen postings that they use outdated equipment and programs that make it difficult to keep up with a decent line count.

But when I worked there I was very happy.
Well the OP has 27 years experience. Great

New to MQ at 9cpl - congrats and MHO.long reply

I am also one of the few I guess, who does like the DQS platform and am making more lines per hour, now over a year on it, no where close to your line count though

But, what amazes me is the total inconsistency, once again, between the various MQ offices.  Been with MQ for 11 yrs now, I also work evenings and weekends, starting at 11pm and make the majority of my lines on weekends, yet you started out at 9.5 and I'm only getting 8 cpl ? My office does not know what a raise is and had quite a few lay off's after losing a huge teaching hospital account, so even asking for one, some of my fellow MT's have been looked at like they are asking for zillions.

Your starting line rate at 9.5, is quite frankly and not rudely, hard to believe or swallow for just this reason...many many of us have been there/done that and are not making the same rate.

I truly congratulate anyone who can get the rate they need to survive on w/o giving up life itself, but I'm thinking you should enjoy and make the most of it because, unless they will be bumping thousands of us up in cpl, once (and if) the threatened new line rate comes out along with the "new consistency nationwide) across all the offices, you may find that line rate out the window, which would be wrong of them to do so.  They promise and I hopehave realized because of all the legal issues, that they DO need one game plan across the board, bene's, salaries, CPL, bonuses, PTO, etc, etc. to be fair and consistent.  But, to make it this way, there will be some or even many of us MQ MT's that will be unhappy.  I hope not, but with MQ, ya never know.

The latest Qnews on yet again, problems with their filing with the SEC does not look promising for any bright future with pay for us measly pions who are the backbone of the company, but it would be nice to fantasize that corporate would realize if they make us happy by providing us a way to make a decent living w/o turning off our life support, then the MT's could be so instrumental in their "forward looking statements"..geee and I'm not even one of the new suits making the mega millions ..

I just happened to troll through the QNet reading this and noticed that NO ONE has asked FRANK any Q's since May?  Wonder why that is? Maybe the legal suits have advised him to not take any more ask frankie baby Q's as God forbid, someone could bring another class action in that area.  Sorry ladies, was a very long night full of any and all ESL's not even off the boat..did I have problems with them...nope..made my best lines on them (even though I felt wiped for one of them because it seemed to take all his energy just to dictate the reports), it was the dang lilly white good ol boys who I will call Tigger & Piglet because one kept hopping all over, while Piglet would stop, studder, shuffle, walk to one side of the trauma bay on the other side of the room from the phone...then run back at 90 mph to say the next word, therefore making me a great candidate for sign language now

What line rate does Medware pay for 28 years experience but no CMT status for an employee, also
is the pay higher for IC?
I have worked for them for three years - great place.
Excellent pay and benefits. PTO is better than most companies. They match our 401-K. I like my account and my TL.

Feel free to e-mail me for more information.
Lots of work right now, but guaranteed you won't get 9cpl as a base. sm
You CAN get 9cpl if you work nights and/or weekends because of shift differentials, AND if you are a high producer (some production incentive but not a lot), and there is an extra 1/2 cpl for CMT. Years of experience factor in, as well.  This is for employee status. I do not know what IC rates are.
Great company... no complaints.. three years and counting....
I just love it. If anyone has any questions, please e-mail me. This is a great place, and as I said many times before - I found a home.
Transhealth is hiring but you must have 5 years of QA experience. They are great to
    work for.
Worked for them years ag. GREAT people to work for. nm

Haven't found a great place yet . . ., was with last company three years.
    Just new this internet thing.
It was a great company before othey sold out to Medquist years back.
    Now it's crap.
Webmedx fits that bill, great company, great benefits, great pay and always on time. NM
    ,
Ok - here ya go. I went from making $1800 per pay period to making just under $900.
Is that significant enough for you? Believe us, we are not just being negative with a grudge or anything like that. This is real! A month later, I was gone from there fast!
9cpl and 11 cpl for weekends. Use ExText. My ExText version wasn't compatible with theirs

I worked for a temp agency for 3 years..LOVED it. Just worked. No counts, no hassels, GREAT pay..
No benefits at the time.  I even learned pathology while temping (8 months on that assigment).  I loved the variety, the ability to say I'm not available such and such time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I didn't need benefits.
Recent contact said 1100lpd AND 8hrs of time must occur for benes. 8.5 cpl/no benes, 9cpl benes. nm

    Statuatory employee versus regular employee....
Can someone tell me the difference between a statuatory employee versus a regular employee?  My company offeres IC or SE status....I am confused about whether switching over the SE would benefit me more than IC status that I have been for some time with them?  What are the benefits and disadvantages of being an SE versus IC?  Thanks for all of your help!
They hire both IC and employee. I am an employee (see message)
and I have full benefits. I am very happy that I came to work here. I came as a statutory employee from a large company. Everyone at MDI has been great to me.
Depends on if you are employee or statutory employee (sm)
Employee, 8th and 23rd of month
Stat. Employee, 15th and 30th month
Diskriter - Anyone go from their employee to hospital employee with them?
Thinking about giving up on being their employee and applying for a hospital employee position through them, they have one in PA right now that looks good.  How is it for scheduling?  Do you keep your line rate or get whatever the hospital pays? Who manages those accounts, is it the same PM and DR that are on the other ones?  I have DR and feel like she doesn't have a clue what she is doing and it is so annoying, but I just don't have the guts to let the company know she needs to step it up a notch because the transcriptionists are not happy under her.  Are QA the same people or through the hospital.  They have 1 QA that is constantly asking us questions on doctors and format, things we should be asking that QA person.  Annoying that new people move up to QA but people who've been there 2 or 3 years get treated like dirt and jumped account to account.
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
