1099 Form amount

Posted By: GAMT on 2008-02-08
In Reply to: By law she has to provide you with a - 1099 if you were paid over certain amount

Isn't the amount $600.00? If you make that amount or more then you must be sent a 1099 form? I do have records of all of my earnings that I made last year. I made a little over $3,000.00 with this company. It was not that much, but enough to report in.

Still have not received 1099 form from previous employer!

Am I not correct that employeers are supposed to send out 1099 forms by the 31st of January?  I quit a company back in May of 2007 and I still have not yet received a form.  I guess I should contact these people?  You would think they would have sent it to me by now!  It's frustrating having to contact old employers because you really do not want to have to be bothered by them anymore!

1099

You can file without a 1099 -- as long as you have invoices, etc. that you sent them or copies of checks that they paid, you just report that amount to the IRS.  You don't send in copies of the 1099 with your taxes you just report the income.  Sometimes companies do not send out 1099 and figure it is up to the IC's to keep track of and report their income.  But be sure you have copies of all invoices or billings to the company to verify what you got paid.   That is why, when an IC you should invoice or bill out what your services to the company so that YOU have a record of what you did for the company.

no, you will get a 1099

1099
I emailed them and they told me they had some mixup and they hoped they would be sending them this week........
W2 -- 1099
is it focus informatics? Go to the job boards and get the email and send request. OR ggogle the business name and see what comes up and contact that way.
1099 no message

They do not have to send you a 1099 for what they did NOT pay you, However,
you still need to claim what you received regardless if they send you a 1099 or not and pay your taxes accordingly.  I would report them to the IRS in either case, because I am sure you have tried to receive your past compensation without much success.
Anyone rec'd 1099 from Sten-Tel yet?

Still waiting on mine.  This is from the Sten-Tel in Massachusetts.

Also, anyone know if they are hiring?  I'm thinking about begging for my job back.

thanks.

You'll get a 1099...

As a first-time IC, you may want to get some tax preparation help because you should have some write-offs that will most likely save you money.

1099 versus W2
An IC receives a 1099. You will see your total earnings under the section called Non-employee Compensation.

I totally agree with the other poster who said you should see a tax specialist, and I don't mean H&R Block. Ask friends and family who they would recommend. Don't just choose someone out of the phone book.

I'm also recommending that you get into the habit of deducting the money to pay your taxes with every single check you receive, unless you're really good with leaving your money alone (no matter what) and can pay your taxes quarterly. Also, a lot of people have different recommendations on how much you should set aside for your taxes. It can be anywhere from 20% to 30%, depending upon where you live. Discuss this with your tax specialist.
Oh, yes, it turned out I didn't need the 1099 after all
Just as said above, when I didn't receive it my accountant just told me to get my own information together and then send the employer a letter telling them that this is how much I earned, this is how much I'm going to claim. I guess I was just letting the OP know that I knew the feeling of not getting a 1099.

To the other poster above, I did get out of there as soon as I could. It was a local MTSO and at that point I was new and even now I didn't want to work for the Nationals so I stayed. The pay was good and as an IC I made my own hours. The only problem basically was the 1099 situation.
Has anyone who worked for CorTmedical in 2006 gotten their 1099 yet?
I know that a lot of us were burned last year by this company.  I am wondering if they are going to at least send the 1099 for what they should have paid us.  I am wondering if they do not send it, how am I going to claim what they did not pay me as a loss?  Thanks to all, hope everyone has found something better since that disaster.
Sudden change in 1099 status?
why would a company after YEARS of having IC's suddenly push everyone into an employee status?  Does this have anything to do with trying to make the company less likely to be unionized???  Or is there something else entirely going on that Im missing all the way around?
Agree with Patti. MTOS sends 1099 as courtesy,

Maybe we should all form - nm
.
Nothing really...ASR is just MQ form of it.
Or at least as far as I know, but I've only done it at MQ...so I very well could be wrong:-)
We ought to form our own company LOL
MTs for MTs? Americans doing work for Americans? Contact them all and keep the accounts with the same Americans who have been doing the work. Okay, okay, nice fantasy, but it was fun.
A bit of gallows humor.
Just a form of advertising
Kind of like a Q&A. Like does so and so offer insurance A: Why yes they do very reasonable. Q: Any info on this company. A: Great company!! Smiley smiley tappy tappy feet. Get a room---- pleaseeeeee
If you file a form with the IRS
as an IC and think you should be classified as an employee, and they determine you have been an employee, are there tax/penalty obligations for the IC?
See Search box top of this form
you can type in Synernet and up comes other posts on company, I saw 7 cents a line, no spaces and 4 cents a line for editing with minumum lines requirments of 1600 straight typing and 2200 lines for editing.  Not for me.  Slave labor.
Please see response on main form (nm)

Go to your state's website and get the W4 form SM

for your state, fill it out and send it to Medware's HR department/payroll.  If they still don't take the taxes out, REPORT THEM TO YOUR STATE TREASURY.  The state will go after them and they will have to pay penalties.

By law, they HAVE to take state taxes out of your paycheck if you send the W4 to them.  They can't refuse or avoid it.

I am in no way, shape or form trying to bash here.

I got the same form email today and

17 years experience here.

Who's going to give up the life they have now and try to form one?!!
s
When I was hired they sent a form letter saying
starting pay was 8 cpl - no exceptions.  They talked raise frequently but never got one, never got paid for OT, never got paid for holidays.  There was a problem a few months ago and pay was late as supposedly they didn't have money to meet total payroll, but I never had a problem with my check.
MQ application form after interview

Needing a new job, I applied, tested and interviewed with MQ.  At the end of the interview, I was told there was one last thing I needed to do, which was to fill out another form.  An application similar to the screening application I had completed when I applied initially as I understand.  Well, I can't find it.  I've also called them twice about it and they said I had been sent an email about it with the link.  But, I have received no email about this and do not know where to find this form to complete.  I was hoping someone here would know.  If you do, please let me know.  Thank you in advance.

Sweetness. Let's form a posse.

Go to the medquist form for the date of 03/17/09
Top of page *Two factual Verifications: and under that is: Proof taken off internet. If you click on this you will see the article regarding MQ and SPI's new contract regarding sending 2 million lines per month to them. By 2011 they will be sending 6 million.
I worked form them as well and it was a terrible
the glowing reviews on here of late, and there are 2 reasons for it:  1. For the umpteeenth time, there is some MT out here who works for a different Landmark, and she always gets in on the PA Landmark thread and claims they are wonderful. 2. I honestly believe the posters who praise were 100% management or supervisors, as I know many MTs who worked for them - we all knew each other before - and not one had a good experience, not a single one. Personalities aside, they are a tiny overflow company, and they never have steady work for even part time.  So, nothing has changed, yet someone keeps lying on this board and acting like they are multiple people and how great the company is.  Its so sad that this continues on here. That's why to this day I don't listen to 1 single review of a company on here. If I read good reviews, I don't believe them. If I hear nothing, I figure its a safe bet, and that finally landed me a wonderful job.  But every single job that was praised on this board ended up being literal crap. So very sorry you had to learn the hard way, too. That company is a joke, though its not funny when its happening to you. Be lucky you got out as quick as you did.
How can you receive an email form your
company if your email is not typed exactly right? It will never be delivered into your inbox, but will go right back to the company, as 'not able to deliver.'

It's the adjective form calculous that modifies sm
cholecystitis.  Feel free to look it up.   Calculus is a noun.
Please do not put your resume in the form of a medical report.
For starters, using patient's names is incorrect and you have yours all throughout that medical report.  I don't know who started this, but it is simply NOT professional and that resume will go very quickly in the dead resume bin.
time to form union, people

WTH do they wait so long? is it a form of torture?
lazy?!?!?!
P.S. - If your company has filed form SS-8 ask for a copy.
If they won't give it to you, see if you can get it from the IRS; I believe you can.

And, of course you can still file your own SS-8 even if the company has filed it. I'm not saying an MTSO would LIE on the form they file, but anyone can make a MISTAKE...
Please form a list of nonVR companies

It would be great to have all in 1 place companies which do not have VR (and they usually are all USA too).  I can only come up with 2 to start, but please add to the list.  This would certainly help out those who do not wish to take the leap at this time into that kind of technology.  Thanks for adding to the list.

1.  Keystrokes.  Very little VR, lots of straight typing.  No overseas.

2.  SoftScript.  I think all straight typing.  I do believe no overseas.

Please add to the list. It would be a helpful tool for many of us. Sorry I can't think of more, but then again, that is why I am creating this post. Thanks again.

I got one too. I turned them DOWN for a job, insurance too expensive. Don't worry, just a form
and I have well over 16 years in this bizz.

OSI true to form: I am ready to quit on the spot

I just got my latest paycheck from OSi and did not get paid the extra 5 cpl holiday pay.  The reason???  With their ridiculous new holiday policy my primary and secondary accounts were out of work, did not have enough work to give me the 1000 minimum line count so therefore I did not get the extra pay for the lines that I did type.  I was required to be stuck at my PC all day and constantly got instant messages from client support to make sure I was there.  This is just sooooooooooo wrong.  I am so fighting mad and feel like quitting right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need some help ASAP.  Does anybody please know where I could get hired at another company pretty quickly?  I almost don't care where it is because I am desperate.  This is the last straw with OSI and I have had enough.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Just go to MQ board and read, form your opinion from current employees (nm)
x
If you work for DR they send a form letter to all employees about bonuses.sm
If you work for them and are eligle, they send a form letter out letting everyone know how it was figured.

YEE GADS the old bitty's are out today.
A message delievered in THAT form distracts from the real issue
and makes one doubt her qualifications.
you get a form to put in your name, email, and paste your resume. MTSpot sends it to the recipient
b
Form an LLC (limited liability corporation) if you are an IC by filing legal paperwork SM
that way no one can sue your personal assets away, only those of your business entity, even if it is only your IC company in your name. This can be done through a lawyer or at companies such as legalzoom. this limits your liability and protects your personal assets. otherwise, they can take away all your assets, including your joint assets of your spouse.
Just the right amount here...sm
I get the hours I am scheduled for. I've been there a few months now. Going fine. Off of OT finally but not running out.
Could you disclose the amount....sm
you were paid?  How long ago was this that you didn't have enough work?  Also, were you full or part time and what were your report total requirements per pay period?  TIA
For ANY amount of money

nm

Not only do they pay late, the amount of the
checks are incorrect and it takes forever to resolve the issue with accounting.  I even talked with the owner of the company a couple of times because of incorrect and/or late paychecks.  Nothing ever changed, so I left.  Beware!
The amount of tax you withhold should
be what tax bracket you are in. If you are in the 15% bracket only hold back 15%.

There are pros and cons on both sides. You just have to find the fit that works for you.
Sorry, but would not put up with that crap for any amount of $$$
nm
Well that's a decent amount of $
NOT to walk away from. Depending on how much you need it though I would still consider not taking it... and not signing.

Then you are completely free to do anything u want without any worry.

If you need the money, however, you appear to have little risk with this contract being prevailed upon in court.

I'd say you don't really need to 'panic' anymore - :) you'll be OK with either choice.

Good luck.
