You are very lucky: Only 10 corrections in 100 lines? Wow!...sm
Please tell me the company, so that I can switch.
where they 35 comparable reports - or 35 short and 35 long reports? nm

Terminated after doing a very short amount of reports
I was hired by company A, whom I found out subcontracts from company B which is a large medical transcription company in California.  I worked for the second company for several years, and all of a sudden, no work  well getting hired by Company A  I found out why.  I transcribed a total of 3-4 reports for company A yesterday and today, and they wanted things such as pulse ox' and subcutaneous, etc  -- got called on the carpet if these abbreviations were expanded or spelled out.  I have been an MT for over 25 years and to me, when it is abbrevations like this, it sends a red flag in my mind as to quality.  If you want further information, please email me privately
Prior complaints of low work loads and only short reports, so struggle to get lines. How about

Also, please don ot change you thoughts 10 diffrent ways and then say to me forget it I will come back to this later and expect me to be okay with that.  And one other thing - SPIT OUT THE GUM
Smile.
:)
Of course you stick it out with a smile. Really. That's what I would do. sm
Remember, she probably won't last long and then you one day may have her job. Don't let one person out of other really good ones spoil your new position. If it continues longer than a month or so, go above her head and speak your concerns. She's probably just testing you. You know if you are doing a good job or not, and if you KNOW you are doing a good job, then just take her comments with a grain of salt and continue working. Don't make a huge deal out of QA people who are rude. I swear, if I did that, I would have had over 50 jobs by now! Each and every single company I've worked for (3) have had at least one Grinch of a QA person and at first I would get all upset and then I grew up and realized that they are just grinches and the kind of people who probably really, really dislike themselves, so how can they like anyone else????

Smile People!
What's with all the negativity on this board today?  Everyone needs to take a breath.  I've never seen such hostility on here before. Smile...it really isn't that bad.
I wasn't trying to be a smarta$$, that is why I put the smile at the end..
Sorry if you took it that way :)
Smile or not, your post was still incorrect
nm
Smile. Nope. I'm in this because I'm too lazy SM
and self indulgent to be management. Also really hate workplace politics. Been there long ago in another industry, done it, moved on. Isolated in the boonies now and loving the no-stress/no responsibility work we do. Haven't traded a word with my account manager (what's that title, anyway?) in months. Intend to keep on as long as allowed.
Lucky You ... I was not so lucky to work with that platform
Meditech - it was awful. I kept getting promised that my account was going to ChartMatrix, but it never happened and the Meditech system was SO slow. I loved TH, the people, etc. - so if you can get an account that is on ChartMatrix - hop on it. But, avoid the accounts that are on Meditech because I don't think they are EVER going to convert (and I waited quite awhile - couldn't take it any more).
QA corrections
If you think they have you mixed up, cut/copy your work to wordpad and put a job # on them, compare that with your QA corrections and see. Call the supervisor on this. NO one should be nitpicking you, I do not know who work with but good luck, some QAs can be relentless for petty stuff.
corrections...sm
Wether it's 1 QA person or more, keep corrections as references because I notice that even QA have their I'm in the mood to correct/type this today... These references will be your weapons. If this QA person/people will not let up, then I hate to say it, but just play the suck it up game until you get off of QA. It may or may not work for you, but I've played the suck it up game until I was off QA with 2 people and, now, as long as I follow the rules, neither one can tell me anything. I'm hoping someone will have better ideas, but good luck if you chose to go this route.
QA Feedback/Corrections
I am so frustrated..  I am just starting a new job/new account and the QA feedback is ridiculous..  I was an English major and know where my punctuation is supposed to go and the QA people keep removing commas were I know there are supposed to be commas.  Also they keep removing The from sentences were I know the doctor said The or That.  Like The History and instead they have been correcting it with just History and some other little changes that are driving me nuts.  I am afraid that in the future these changes are going to go against me or something.  Do I say something to the QA people or do I just let it go?  I find it really irritating to be slapped down for something I know to be correct.
Try to question QA's corrections....
then you are certainly remembered who you are and picked on!
No, not when she has all those corrections to battle
Sounds like it's a 'too many cooks' situation for you, too, skunko. At a company as huge as the Q, I'm sure there are dozens of MTs in there and (from what I've heard) many newbies, etc., I'm sure quite a few people are overriding the system and changing what is technically correct, which is creating a lot of the chaos you're conscientious enough to clean up.

With regards to racking it up because Skunko gets 0.5 cpl, nah, she can't clean up if she's having to practically rewrite every report that drops into her cue. That's incredibly time consuming just doing it a couple of times a shift, not to mention if it were practically each and every report.

My sympathies, Skunko...I'd be struggling just like you if every report consisted of damage control!

WHAT? Do you have to email all those corrections to all the MTs...
so basically you are only getting paid for 15 lines if you fill in a blank? Do Focus QA people have to listen to the whole report from top to bottom or just jump to the blank? Our company must listen to the whole report. Why have a blank in paragraph 1, QA fills it in, but there are typos and crap in paragraph 3, 4, and 5? Interesting!
Hello!! Waiting for my corrections on grammer and ain't. (sm)
Sorry to be so petty, but a person tries to help another and this is the kind of crap that goes on.

This is the Holiday season and we should at least during this time of the year show a little compassion and kindness towards our co-workers.
Are the corrections legitimate? If so, maybe you have a few things to learn still..
nm
Corrections: Sorry..'I would NOT call these people SUCKERS.....nm

This is totally off topic, but your post made me smile with the reference to Wang sm

word processors.  I remember when we got them at the hospital, I was all happy while some of the older ladies were balking at it, but the thing that sticks in my mind was a comedian at the time who did some kind of joke about, Who let some company call themselves Wang?

Anyway, it was funny at the time and this brought back a memory . I'm sorry for your situation.  I am 50 too, and although I do not live in a rural area, in fact just recently moved to the Denver area, I feel rather trapped.  I have done this since I was a junior in high school, and I really do not have any other marketable job skills.  When I see posts about wages being cut and work drying up, I panic inside and wonder what the future will hold for me.  Even if I had the money to go back to school, by the time I would graduate, I'd be an old lady anyway and probably not the best candidate for hire.

Good luck to you.

I have a pretty good list. Any comments/corrections welcome. This is just from
what I have seen over the past few years in terms of growth, size and national accounts.

I put them alphabetical rather than size as I am not 100% on a few. There are 11 instead of 10 too.

This also leaves off a few that only have U.S. Editors with all work done offshore.

If I am missing any, I apologize. These are companies that I have seen at AHIMA, in magazines, on these boards, at AAMT, etc. I am not claiming perfection so I have omitted any, I apologize in advance.

Typing ER reports and radiologogy reports
are completely different with regards to pay. For typing regular reports, that is a very fine line rate. For typing radiology reports, it would be horrid.

who's got the last laugh now ?

Ive been an MT for 13 years. I was an IC for 10 years, and a FTE for a local hospital for the last 3 years. I came back from vacation in June to discover my lovely boss was interviewing companies to outsource the MT department. He lied to us - told us not to worry - and then a month later our union received the '60 day notice' letter and we were out on our assess. I took a job as a unit secretary - and a $5 an HOUR paycut along with it, working 3-11 and alternate weekends. Am I crazy to do this. Well yes and no.  I now have unlimited O/T, I'm keeping my awesome union benefits, building toward being vested in 2 more years, and just landed an IC MT job doing guess what: MY OLD JOB. The company that outsourced us hired me. I plan to rake in the bucks in the AM and do the b.s. job at night. 3-11 is half the work as a day job - plus you get the shift differential. Wish me luck ! Joanne

*l* = laugh...nm

You are not alone - I have 25 yrs exp and some want to pay me 7 or 8 cpl. I just laugh and say "

Thanks for my first laugh of the day!
nm
Better for your well-being to laugh than to cry
I for sure would understand if the tears fell, tho.
Laugh is on you..
Full-time job pays $24/hr. Can take up to 12 weeks PTO/yr. Work at home. ALL equipment covered by company including internet.

Part-time job pays .11/cpl.

TRUST ME, I'M A LOT HAPPIER THAN YOU ARE LOL
sorry, just had to laugh at that
I've posted on here for years and no one has ever accused me of being a recruiter or management. Just thought that was funny. Um... no, definitely not. My point was that they try to keep the accounts balanced well and avoid overhiring, so you may be well qualified and still not get a call back if the accounts are well staffed already, so don't take it personally.
Should I laugh or cry?

You can either laugh or cry,

OMG - Thanks for the laugh!
Tarnscription.  I know you didn't mean to do it - but that is actually the PERFECT name for this junk sometimes.  Tarnation!!!  LOL!
Thanks for the laugh :)
I don't proof what I post on here, but your response is totally hilarous. If only they could drop in at 4:30 and start my super (hehehe - yes I purposefully spelled that wrong) :)
LOL thank you for the laugh nm

Thanks for the laugh.......nm

Okay, this made me laugh.
I worked on Vianeta years ago, and I have never been able to figure out why people who WORK on it can't SPELL it. It's a 7-letter word, how hard can it be?
Thanks for the laugh.. That was great..

Don't make me laugh
Don't let my ego get in the way of facts? How about, don't make such an assumption?

I didn't disagree with your original post, just suggested a different 'take'.

Well, at least I can laugh at my typos - sm
some of ya'll seem to take them way, WAY to seriously. (And to hopefully avert any more flaming about being sloppy in my work, I'm TALKING ABOUT silly little mistakes we make when we're dashing off quick posts & emails.) And do you really think my thread is actually TESTIER than some of the total ragging that's been going on whenever someone on these boards stands up and calls a spade a spade?
Not!
Don't make me laugh
How many INside TT staffers are on this board, anyway?

:)
Oh, swell! Should we laugh or cry??? NM
nm
OMG I needed a laugh!!
and I'm writing them to show how YOU are behaving here!! LOL

There ya GO!!! LOLOL thanks for the laugh NM
x
LOL, thanks for making me laugh.SM

I used to work in a hospital too.

I love having the last laugh.
I am looking foolish? I called someone's bluff because they don't know their a** from a hole in the ground. They were completely wrong and just did not want to owe up to it. I just love this. Now I am finished.
Funny, Rad Guy. Thanks for the laugh.
.
Well, that's good for a laugh if nothing else...
Where do people get this stuff?!! Ridiculous.
