MS Word 2003
Does anyone know where I can purchase MS Word 2003?  My new computer runs Microsoft Suite 2006.  Word 2007 is the latest thing, and my new employer's system can't run 2007.
I had to get word 2003
for their program, and it was like $350! My computer only has 2000.
Word 2003
I know it kinda sucks about having to upgrade for just one job, but it was actually money well-spent for any future jobs you take. It always looks good on a resume to have updated versions of whatever program is available. Hopefully if things don't work out where you are, you'll be able to get a new job somewhere that appreciates hard work!! =)
Word 2003
Any idea why so many MTSOs are now requiring Word 2003? Reviews state it's not much of an improvement over 2002 and that it has some features that actually slow you down.
You say word 2003 upgrade. Is this

I didn't have to upgrade because I had it already but if its the same company I think the QA person can use a class in learning how to deal with people without rudeness.

AlphaMed is new, so pay isn't that high yet and you need Word 2003 there. nm

They offered me 8.5 cpl recently, turned them down
because of the offshoring part.  They recently got an account that I had worked on for about 10 years prior to it being lost to MQ and then MQ lost it due to quality issues.  I thought at 8.5 cpl I could make good money (not great pay but few ESL and familiar dictators), but just couldn't do it.
They offered me a position, but I turned it down.
What the recruiter said and what the team leader said was in direct conflict.  Then there is the question of offshoring.
Actually I tested well and she offered me a job which I turned down because
she was so hateful and condescending. I wonder if her employer is aware of this. What a nut job!
I was offered a job there, but turned it down just for the pay scale.
The company itself seemed like a great fit and the accounts looked promising, but the starting pay scale, even though you tiered up fairly quickly, was just too low for me. That just seemed like slave wages and I can't feed my family on that for the next 2 months. If it wasn't for the pay scale, I would have jumped right on board though.

I was offered per line, turned them down

I was offered 8.25 cpl in the beginning of 2006. Turned it down. 13+ years in.

From an ad last year, you needed a Cphone to work. Don't know anything about them. nm

They had an ad here a year ago for IC positions and you needed a Cphone. Don't know about now. nm

I was turned down with 13 years of experience with 4 in acute care. Go figure, but thanks anyway.
I was totally floored as I have experience with the basic 4 as well as multiple specialties. I am not quite sure what they are looking for. The ironic part was a year ago I received the same response from Spheris, yet they advertise that you have to only one years' experience. What is funny about that is the hospital I worked for had just signed a contract with them and they were hired to do work that I was doing on a daily basis at the hospital, yet I did not qualify. Very odd.
Contact from last year said you needed your own LD, rented a Lanier, training was terrible, and

I went through this last year. I was offered

a position and accepted, an acute care account doing all Ops.  My company was having issues and I thought I needed to make a change, but I was scared of a change.  I had been at the company 5 years, had easy platform, easy lines, comfortable with my dictators, plenty of work, etc.....   I called the next day and told them I decided to stay where I was.

Fast forward 6 months and my company lost my account, which was major one and not enough work to go around, plus the company had been telling us lies and were very unethical when all details became known.  At this time I had no choice but to make a change.  I did not contact KS, but went with another company.

It has been a bit of a struggle having to learn all the new stuff.

My thoughts are if you were happy where you were you wouldn't have been looking in the first place.   You either have to accept the difficult situation at current position or make the change where things will be rough for a couple of months, but you might be better in the long run.

I know how hard it can be having recently gone through it.

I was offered a job there last year...
and they offered me .85 per 65-character line, but it was not in the field I type in, so I turned it down.  They were very nice to me and always called when they said they would.  There was a minimum of 1,000 lines per day/5,000 a week when I looked into it last year, I don't know if that has changed any.  And then there is an incentive schedule for more lines, I think they increase your pay by .01 cent and so forth for up to 2,000 lines per day.  They pay twice a month, direct deposit.  They do deduct for transcribed errors/error values.  I can't remember the platform they use...I know it is one I have not used before.  I hope this helps.  Good luck with them!
I was offered 9 cpl, but that was about a year ago and
I've heard they're really going downhill since then.
No MT experience needed for test, really. Just good reference materials.

I was offered a position about a year ago
and did not take it as you had to be on call every third week at night with a pager for stats.
I was offered 8 cpl last year, experienced. Didn't take it. nm

I was offered a job with MDI a year ago before I was hired at Keystrokes - SM
They told me that I probably wouldn't want to leave my other job as I probably wouldn't have enough work, and that the account they would put me on was VERY heavy ESL and needed unlimited long distance. That was a big turn off for me! I then accepted a position with Keystrokes right after that, and a year later I'm still glad that I did!
Don't know but last year offered 8 cpl w/sps from 1100-1400 lpd. Then went to 8.5 if consistently

It used Word last year, whatever it was. You had to name your files

Here, here. Exactly my experience also, even down to the 10 year work experience. nm

Howdy! In the last year, I applied and got offered jobs at a minumum of 10 companies
and not ONE single place checked any references - not 1.  Even the one who said they would, Diskriter, never made 1 call. Do you feel lucky??
Pay offered last year was 8 cpl/w on 1100 lpd. Some posters said they lost all their good accts

Offered 7.25 cpl for 30 years experience - sm
Your offer sounds like a good deal compared to mine, but neither is what we are worth.
12 yrs experience, offered 8.5 cpl in the last 6 months. :( nm

TTS offered me 6.5 cpl with 20 years' experience
NM
I was offered 8 cpl with 19 years of experience.
I was going to give it a try, but I didn't want to purchase equipment for a job paying 8 cpl.  Sorry, but that's way low if you ask me.  I think it is a rather small company though.
I have many many years of experience and was offered....
7.5 cpl as employee or 9 cpl for IC. Seemed way too low to me, especially after I was told what the account was like. They seem nice, but nice doesn't pay the bills! Good luck to you!

Me 16 yrs. experience. Offered 7 cents too.

Offered pay for 6 months experience... any good?

I got offered a position to type some reports in a specialty I have been typing for 6 months.  I was offered 7cpl for 65 character line.  Does not pay for hard returns, tabs, empty lines, headers, footers are not paid.  Spaces between words are.

At my other position I was getting 6cpl including hard returns.

How do I figure out if this new offer is equal or better than what I already had?

Yes, I know neither are high paying.  I am new to the industry, only finished my course 7months ago.  BUT, this particular specialty is easy for me and I have very high marks with QA.

Any and all advise is welcome.  Thanks!
