I had to laugh when I saw some positive posts this week or last, can't remember.  They sounded like they were written by the same person.

The CEO and his brother are in the business for the $$.  They have no clue about  the business.   The QA manager that was there when I was there was a joke, always sending out incorrect spellings on things.  Some of the accounts have the worst dictators I've ever seen and I do 85 to 90% ESLs.  The sound quality was terrible.   When I did QA the work I edited was horrible and they continued to make the same mistakes over and over, like typing same for postoperative diagnoses.  I was asked by someone if they offshored work and I said as bad as it was it is quite possible.  I keep hearing how they pay better than most but no one says how much.   It isn't enough whatever it is.

There are much better companies out there.  Webmedx has 3 or 4 new accounts starting soon.   I haven't been there but about 3 weeks, but I am impressed with what I have seen and they pay well with the chance to early up to 2 cpl more with incentives.

Benefits are very good, they have direct deposit and if it falls on a holiday you get paid early.  Six paid holidays, a week PTO that goes up based on years of employment.   I don't know insurance rates because I am not eligible yet, but they pay for things like life insurance, short and long-term disability, accidental death.  They offer paid training and you get 25% above our usual line rate for at least a week after that to compensate for having to learn a new account.

Their platform is Word-based and their Expander is Shorthand, though you may be able to use another, depending on if it will interface with their system.   It is a bit overwhelming at first, but by the third day of training I was pretty comfortable.   They also provide all equipment, though you do need high-speed internet - either DSL or cable, as it is a web-based system and you need to be on-line to work.

in addition to the fact that they offshore, you will find multiple complaints about them not returning calls/e-mails.
Everyone keeps referring back to the archives...sm
there is absolutely NO information about this place. Can you maybe post a little about this place? thanks.
Search the archives back for the few months.

There' s lots of info on SoftScript.  In my opinion, not a good place to work and I'm glad I didn't accept their offer.

Might check the archives as I think there were some negative posts a while back. NM

If you look back in the archives people left when they realized they couldn't make money with it.

I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm

happier.  I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company.  I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her.  It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.

I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time.  I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.

Not all change is bad.  This is one company that has changed for the better.

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
Back away from the hoops!! Back away!
I worked for them about 6 months - same mess to get hired - FBI check is right! It was unreal. I was so excited, though - they promised me the moon, and I really thought I had found my new home after centuries with that other company who shall not be named.  What a disappointment, to say the least. All around horrible experience, and I would NEVER recommend them. Certainly they were not worth the hoops at all. Total waste of effort.

Yes they have paid MTs with bounced checks with every worthless excuse under the sun on several occasions among a multitude of other unacceptable business practices.  Please do a search in the archives.
Archives so old
Does anyone know why all the posts are so old whenever I want to research a company in the archives?  Almost all of them are from 2004 and very few from 2005.  If they were posted in 2005, then they are usually many months old.  Also why aren't they posted in chronological order with newest ones first?  Please help me understand this.  Thanks.
There is a lot in the archives about them.

How do I find out about a company from the archives?
archives???
Can someone tell me why I cannot access the archives any more? Why can I not research companies that are hiring through the archives? Is anyone else having this problem? Also is someone removing the responses to questions posed by people looking for information on certain companies? Just wondering if this is something I am doing wrong or if something new is going on or what. Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me.
MD-IT on archives?
I tried the archives and get nothing. I know there is another company with a similar name...?

Well I looked in archives and only saw one where the person was happy working for them. Somehow I don't think that's your point,so have you worked for them????
Archives are old

Maybe she wanted RECENT information.  The stuff in the archives tends to be fairly old.  I read it too when I was considering them last year.

I don't know where the info comes from that they only have overflow accounts.  That is not the type of account that I am on with them.  The only regular time there is no work is Sunday.  The only other time there has been no work in the middle of the week was around the holidays when the clinic was closed at Christmas and New Years and most clinics had slow work then.

Bottom line, to the OP, you have to make your own decision.  If you get an offer and have a good feel about it, go for it.  If you don't have a good feel about it, then you need to listen to your instinct.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

Archives help!
Is there something I am doing wrong?  Whenever I do a company search, the only info I get is extremely old, like 5, 6, 7 years.  How do I get more up-to-date info?
JLG not in archives
Is that a good thing or not. I thought she sounded good and I'll be making just as much per line as I did at MQ. The only difference is instead of Monday thru Friday days, I'll be working Sunday thru Thursday days. Pay dates are the same.
If it's the one in Wisconsin, all bad - see archives nm

I have posts in the archives, none of which SM

are favorable toward Diskriter, but not for the supposed reasons stated above.  This person is seriously misinformed about Diskriter offshoring at this time.  It is my understanding that a long time ago they offshored to the Caribbean islands but that is not happening any more and all the work is kept here in the U.S. now.

Whoever wrote the "Beware" post is not telling the truth.

A while ago there were some posts of people not getting paid and checks bouncing.  I would be careful and investigate.  I don't know much about them but it would be nice if they were a good company.

Medware archives

I just posted something a couple days ago asking about them, if you go almost all the way down to the bottom of this page it should still be there. I got 3 or 4 responses and it was mostly favorable info. So I think that might be the latest on them.  My name on here AvaMQ is behind the posts so it's in that general area. Good Luck!

You need to check the archives.

A lot in the archives about Transend.

Read the archives. Hardly a day goes by that

someone asks info on a company that was just discussed the day before.  There are other forums besides this one too where you can get info on companies.  Post your resume on the various job boards.  There are companies that do not post ads but hire from the resumes.   My current position I was hired from my resume and I have been offered a couple of other positions from companies who contacted me from my resume who did not post ads.

I work for a good company and honestly they are not hiring.  Other MTs do seem to get upset when people will not tell them what company they work for.  I don't believe they are afraid of losing their job to someone else (at least for the most part I don't), but they don't want the company to overhire.  There are many posts on the boards about people not having work for days on end because companies are overhiring.

Check the archives. Nothing has
varying rates. You have to wait 120 days to get it.  Don't know about the other company.  We are always having system problems at Transcend, even now is down again.  Beyond TXT goes down on a daily basis so be sure to be flexible and work around it. Poor sound quality.  You have to email tech for problems and they take usually a full day to get back to you, so that can cost money due to lost production.  Also, all accounts going to VR in the next several months, and Transcend will only pay you half your line count, usually 4 CPL, for VR.  On the positive side, pay is always on time and they have direct deposit.  You will learn a lot more about Transcend if you check the archives.  I have found all of it to be true.
I tried to look up MDI-MD in archives and evidently
you can't put initials in because it brought up nothing. But I was in a discussion last week about MDI-MD and I know they are IC. I thought there was also a post that said how much you get paid during training but I can't find it. If any MDI-MDers could answer this I would appreciate it. Is there a set amount they pay for training? Couldn't find it on website either. Thanks.
Check the archives - sm
There are those who are extremely happy and others who have had bad experiences.
Check the archives. There is a lot
company.  Nothing has changed.
do a search in archives
there have been a lot of questions like this lately. It would be nice if everyone would remember this option first before cluttering up the board with blahblah and same old babble.
All you have to do is read the archives.
Overall it seems that most MTs are very happy.   BTW I am not a TT MT.
I can't seem to find archives

listed like I used to.  have there been changes??

Yes. No. Search the archives. nm

You may want to do a search in the archives
I personally had a good experience with them, but do not currently work for them now.  They are employee status and paid what I would call fair in this market.  The platform was a little cumbersome, but not something you couldn't get used to if you worked on it everyday.  I also had where they changed the scheduled days immediately.  If the work is not there then I guess they want you to work when it is, and i found it hard to have a family life with that type of mentality.  I'll put it to you this way, they were not paying enough to have me flip-flop days.  Just some things to consider.  I was doing VR/straight typing.  I found out really quick that I did not like VR.  To each his own though.
