Glad YOU can pay bills. The rest of us..SM
are struggling big time.  You are weighing the fact that you don't have to pay for daycare and can go on field trips against everything else that's exploitative about this busines (I won't even go into outsourcing, although that's a major problem).  Would you advise your children to become an MT?
I work 40 hours a week. I'm glad you're
back to making good money, but I don't feel that I-chart is ripping me off. If I did, I wouldn't stay.
QT Medical! They are WAY better than the rest!!! They're hiring!
NM
Stop saying THE REST OF US like you're some authority!
Why do malcontents like you think that anyone who has something nice or encouraging to say must be a) wrong, b) lying or c) management.

You must be one bitter, angry little person to find the need to throw a tantrum when someone else says they are good at VR. Just because YOU can't do it doesn't me that NO ONE can do it. Get it?
Well, I am the OP and I am certainly glad I left there! sm
I did not have enough work on 2 different accounts and now the side I did work on is being shipped over to another company, so thank God I did leave. I never should have went there to begin with. Is it just another large company worried about one thing, MAKING MONEY and lots of it. They may "act" like they care about their MTs, but they don't care how it gets done, just that it gets done in TAT and they do not care if all the MTs have work. Also, did you ever think about the fact that when you jump on and work when it is not actually your scheduled time to work, then you are taking away work from those MTs that are actually working their scheduled. I also did over 20,000 lines this payperiod and only have 1 main account and work is NOT slow!!! If you like Transcend, fine, but there are certainly a lot of people out there who believe they overhire and overstaff to keep the TAT's shorter. Like I said, as long at TAT is being met, they don't give a hoot if there are MTs who do not have work. They still make their money, no matter who types it! Keep cheering, one day it will come back and bite you in the backside!
so glad I left them
in a heartbeat!
SO GLAD I left when I did...
when this company first started 'growing' they took on TMs and MTs from another company I knew only too well about ('pack of wolves' their own support people called them)...and they outright took all the good work for themselves, and left many of us out in the cold. I was pushed out, squeezed out because of no work, no money...I was barely making 1000 lines a day when I left, and NOT because I was not competent - I was ready, willing, and able to work...they just would not let me.

A lot of the same type behavior you so eloquently describe here...

Now with the ASR sounds like the same behavior going on...

They still outsource overseas, too, no doubt.

As an aside - like you, I also started with a great TM, hours, everyone wonderfully nice, etc.; however, once the new TMs came, their word was law and no one would go against them...
I'm glad I left them when I did.
I worked for them last year for almost the entire year. I never had any real problems with getting paid. My checks might have been a day or 2 late at times but none ever bounced. I loved the accounts that I had with them. The only big problem I had was that they had problems sometimes with voice files being lost and not transferred to me when they should have been and then Donna would have a tantrum and want them done immediately when it wasn't my fault they were late in the first place. I finally had enough of that though. Boy am I glad I left when I did. I always kind of had an eery feeling about them though.

I wish all the MTs who are going through this much luck. I hope you get paid soon.
LOL, Wah? I'm glad I left during....sm
the training period. I was one of those who couldn't get the 5-report/20-min dications due to low work, and also the inconsistent QA. I'm glad I left before I got to meet catwoman and contract/spec changes. Thank you!
Yup, I left a year ago myself and am very glad that I did!
HUGE waste of time. They treat their employees like dirt. It would take me about an hour to write about how horrible they are. Stay away! There are much, much better companies out there to work for!
I worked there for 2 years and am glad I left
However, I have several friends that still work there, love it and probably will never leave. I personally choose not to work for a company that outsources overseas. Just my opinion though.
I left Spheris in September and glad I did
Went to Webmedx and LOTS of work even over the holidays, better base rate, too.
right now plenty of work, also plenty of ESLs.nm
nm
Plenty of BOTH on my end, I do traditional have plenty of work, always
nm
Cbay doesn't sound good. Glad I left
the Q when I did.  I really hashed over that decision, but I am so glad I did.  There will be a lot of people looking for work very soon.  I wouldn't wait around until all the good spots are filled.
Glad you're happy, but. . .
if I may ask, who did you go with to work as an IC?
They're probably glad you didn't too - (sm)

I'm glad you're happy with your pay cut...
but I'm not and do not feel that I've been over-paid. I felt that I was paid fairly under the old compensation plan for what I do and feel that I work very hard and should continue to be paid accordingly for my efforts. As I said in my post, I have always felt that Transolutions was a good place to work, and I also appreciate the intangible perks that they have offered in the past. However, at this point I do not feel that they are treating all of their people equally or fairly, and I guess I am not enough of a company man to take a paycut in any job. Someone on this board asked about the company, and I felt it was only fair to explain some of the things that I've noticed recently and to answer some of her questions that may not be answered during the interview process of any MT company. These boards are not always the most positive places, I realize, and I've never been one to be drawn into the negativity; however, this poster asked a question that I felt compelled to answer honestly and from my heart.

I will NEVER take a cut in pay in any job, as I know that I work very hard at what I do and am smart enough to demand that I be paid a fair wage. I took a paycut to get into medical transcription 5 years ago so I could stay home with my children, but that was my choice and not because of a numbers game that someone else was playing with my paycheck. I think if you asked 100 people if they'd like to take a pay cut because they've been overpaid for the last few years, 99% of them would say NO WAY, not to mention that in this day and age, most of them could not afford it.

I can also tell you that there is more than just one account where people took a pay cut, some people much more than others.

p.s. I also know my stuff and have NEVER gone below 98% on my QA, usually 99% or 100%, until the last 2 months. I also heard in the last phone conference that I was not the only person who had noticed the change. I guess you're just smarter than most people.

I plan to wait it out a couple more paychecks and see how things wash out, as I really have enjoyed working for Transolutions for the most part. I agree that they have some good people and good accounts, but sometimes companies make decisions that are more important to their bottom line than to their current employees, so I guess we'll have to see how this numbers game plays out.
Glad you're happy but....sm
Happiness is a subjective state of mind. So just so I understand your happiness versus what my happiness is I have these questions:

Do they pay enough to live on? Or to put it differently, are you making at least 4K a month? Because that is what it would take to make me happy.

If you are making that kind of money, how many hours are you putting in? If you say you must put in long hours, that is not my happiness. I don't want to have to have a chair-ectomy when I am through for the day.

So if your happiness fits into my version of happiness then I am happy.
Glad you're happy - however,

how can you say most MT's are happy with their gig?  How do you know that?

The world of medical transcription is changing rapidly and the picture is not as rosy as it once was - in fact, pretty bleak -  so just beware - your time may come.

Hope it doesn't, but it may.

Now, now. Glad you're having a nice experience but no need to
By the way, I worked at Precyse a year ago and had a terrible time getting specific questions answered. Maybe it's a problem with individual supervisors. It's unfair to discount others' experiences.
I still think the company has good potential.

Why don't you tell the rest of us who have no work
which account you are working on so I'll know which account to request to be moved to. I am constantly without work and nobody seems to give a crap. Everytime I tell my lead I'm having a problem, either with the system locking up or no work, she lies and says she has the same problem so I'll shut up about it. This is really aggravating.
We're glad you're gone too.
The more people that quit, the more work left for me. I love it when people say they can't take doing MT anymore.
Oh boy, glad to see we're still rewarded for experience and talent...
NOT... I guess I wouldnt be as offended if I didn't know what these MTSO charge their clients, especially hospitals. I realize they have to stay competitive with India, make a profit ..blah blah, but let's share some of the wealth with the talent behind all that work. I think for 6-7 cpl they might be able to get a newbie..but yet...somehow, they EXPECT experience, not on my dime i.e. 6 cents. LOL
Glad you're happy, that place has gone WAY DOWNHILL.
x
Well, if you are on the DEP you are running out of work also just like the rest of us do.

I'm glad you're going to give it a try. I think you'll like it. I can't imaging giving

only 3 days, especially since we did have the 4th slowdown.  They will work with you to get you a secondary account if your primary is not enough.  Good luck to you.

Glad I apparently put so much humor in your life tonight. You're welcome.
If you work for the hospital in my town, you get a RAISE on a regular basis. When did you get your last raise from your MTSO? The hospital furnishes the MT with a new Dell, pays for the virus protection (mine goes up every year - yup, it does), and pays the internet (yuppers, mine goes up every year). Good for you, count yourself lucky, but don't get too comfortable in your Ivory tower. Downsizing, cpl rate cuts, lots of things are coming your way. You just haven't gotten hit yet, but good luck with that attitude of yours.

Please refer to the statements the above poster mentioned about the brown-nosers and such. My post was not intended for you!!! Evidently YOUR company pays you for some of these things, or are you an MTSO, but mine didn't. Work for myself now on local accounts. Got tired of your MTSOs and the little profit I was making.

you're right - a lot have left
Big exodus now, big exodus 2 years ago when they made everyone employees. I left and it has been a good change. If you do leave remember that everyone has a learning curve at a new company and avoid the urge to go back to what is familiar and comfortable.
The Ops could be staying in-house with the rest of the work being done by MW. nm
s
Or you could just quit and leave more work for the rest of us... Or, I know - you could sm
do your OWN WORK and stop policing everyone else?!
I honestly am very glad you're happy! I juggled 2 nationals for a while, and it was exhausting.
Though if I could, I would probably go back to Spheris. Long story there, but probably would not be rehired as I never made it thru training. Just trained with the biggest bunch of, well, MTs. If one more person clapped those little hand icons at some lame joke, I thought I would vomit. Actually did vomit...I was very ill, and just folded...Get rid of the clapping hand icons!!!
Glad you're happy -- I love MDI-MD too, although I missed out on the signup bonus. :( nm

Glad you're sticking to your guns. We all need to turn down these unacceptable offers!
s
Better be glad you got the easier dictators soon, because you're time is coming for the ^^^REAL^^

dictators!  Be glad you got off now.  I wondered where my better dictators went the last week or so !!!!!  Lucky you !!!!!

I can always tell when the TT favorite MT's are off, because I get their dictators -- making it easier for me to get my line count. Yea !

TT is constantly hiring, so the above scenario is a norm.

Glad you you don't "call off sick" but you're missing the point. This is a pay downgrad
Nm.
Yes, you left out the fact that you don't know what you're talking about. sm
Keystrokes pays unemployment in every state that we have employees in (38 at this point).

Supply reference books? Supply fax machine? Yes. If someone cannot get something that will help them, the owner of Keystrokes always helps out.

My husband is a tradesman. He is an employee and is union. He has had to pay for his own tools, his own vehicle to and from work, his own clothes that are destroyed constantly, his own gas. Why should transcription be any different?

I have worked for Keystrokes for 5 years. I transcribe when needed, as many as 15,000 lines per pay period. I have had slow periods like everyone else.

Yes, I get paid a salary I earn in. If you want to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, filling in when transcriptionists call in or don't start their shift on time, giving up hot meals and nights out because a Transcriptionist cannot work their shift, then become management.

I have heard every excuse in the book. I have proofed work from experienced transcriptionists that look like a novice transcribed it. I have worked schedules around everyone's personal lives.

Think management is all fun and games? Think again. I make a good dollar because I earn it.
If there's no lifeboats left, we're stuck on this Titanic n/m

Yes they do send work overseas and do not hide this fact. There is plenty of work and they do pay
well. Overall, I like having work as I have been at places where you had to fight to keep busy so this works for me.
Do you work evenings or nights? If so TT has plenty of work
It is not that TT has no work, it is that everybody wants banker's hours. What do you expect?
Plenty of work
nm
OSI has plenty of work to go around...
...but since hurricane katrina hit, things have been kind of slow. I think they have a big account in Louisiana that got hit pretty hard and it shut down. Since then they have had to move MTs from that account to other accounts. I've been running a little low on work too (just every now and then), but I like OSi so I'm willing to stick it out. I'm sure everything will get back up to speed soon.
Plenty of work...sm
I don't generally post on companies I worked for because in the long run it doesn't seem like opinions matter, for some it may suck and for others it is great.  I worked for them for a couple of years and had to leave due to needing insurance.  There was always plenty of work and if you are a hard worker, you'll make money, get paid on time, etc.  The accounts were incredibly stable and extremely easy compared to acute care.
P.S.. you have plenty of work?
nm
Plenty of work at MDI

Hi Freebird,  I was just passing through and saw your note.

I have been with MDI-MD for a little over a year now.  The only slowdown I have ever experienced was around Christmas and New Year's.  Right now there is plenty of work on all of the hospitals that I cover.

I have been in this business for a long time, am a former MQer, and I just love this company.  The work is not for newbie's, but if you are an experienced acute care Transcriptionist you will have no problems.  The staff at MDI-MD are professional and gracious, the platform is the best I have ever worked with, the pay is great and always on time, and the flexibility is wonderful. I wish you luck!

I do all Ops and there is plenty work available for anyone who wants just
Ops and is good at them.
I have plenty of work.
Have you tried asking for another account?
Plenty of work

Good line rate with incentive pay and shift differential.  Good benefits.  Sick time, PTO, plenty of work.  I'm happy.  Normals are right in their platform, which is handy and helps production.

Anyone else care to chime in?

I have plenty of work
x
Plenty of work.
I have plenty of work at both places I work, just would like more money. :-)
