Any bonuses, days off first year?

Posted By: LookingMT on 2007-07-23
In Reply to: Would anyone care to elaborate on this subject - KS benefits

Seems like a long time with NO days off for PTO or holidays, sick time, etc. Any life insurance or disability? THANKS SO MUCH!

Correction - TH has 5 PTO days 1st year/10 days 2nd yr
x
90 days is correct. 3 days off 1st year, 10 during 2nd.
nm
It's 11 days per year for everyone
nm
FYI, 11 days PTO is just the 1st year
It goes up with your years of service.
365 days a year
We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and of course 365 days an annum.
PTO = 5 days PTO after 1 year SM
More after 3 years or 5 years, etc. Insurance -- They are changing companies and I don't know much more about insurance. They tell us soon they will have a new carrier that is more affordable. Vista is not compatible with the oncology or ortho accounts -- Windows XP only.
ins after 1 year??? misinformed! 90 days
//
3 days true only for 1st year; then you go to 10. NM
nm
No, it is 3 lousy days PTO for 1st year. nm

3 days of PTO 1st year NOT 1 week!
With the paid holidays. Absolutely not 1 week until you are there OVER a year, then 3.077 hours per pay period.
Must work one year and then 5 days off - no holidays
are paid days off. If you chose to take the day off you don't get paid, if you work the holiday usually lines and a half for that day.
They don't match 401K; 3 days PTO 1st year; 10 after that until...sm
5th year (I think, not sure) and then 15 days. NO THEY DO NOT HAVE A STEADY WORKLOAD. They are up to something/contracting work cheaply. We were all on OT last week and now have no work during, as has been said in other posts, peak flu and RSV season. It ain't all the effect of the economy. You can't trust them at all.

I am unsure how the health insurance stacks up, but vision and dental are cheap.
Still not great PTO for first year. I get 12 days at current company. NM
NM
always slow this time of year...doctors take extra days off, et cetera.
it will pick back up again soon...
That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Maybe she/he works 14 hour days/7 days a week? nm
x
Would that be 5 business days or 5 regular days?
So when are we going to be paid this time around since you're so knowledgable?

Sorry, but for some of us a day or 2 actually makes a difference.
Most want 20 hours over 5 days, but it could be more, or it could be spread over 4 days. nm

Axolotl within 30 days. Transolutions in 60 days. NM

It is true. Any job has its good days and bad days.
Perhaps you'd like to just keep your old job and try this one out. Just because a poster here is crabbing about it, or even if as in the past there have been negative posts, odds are that there are very happy people who don't even post or know that this board exists. As Alice says. Everything is relative. The fact that this company is hiring and pays may be a place which is a blessing. As opposed to digging ditches on day labor for example. Or somebody might prefer digging ditches. This is just an example. Sometimes we who are employable, even though we don't make as much as we used to in this business, or as much as we would like to, we still if working at home do not pay for gas to go to work, career clothes, deal with office politics, have to look at a boss who writes us up if we are a minute late, etcetera. I don't make half as much as I used to, but I don't send my 3 children to day care which by the way saves us money. SO I remind my husband I am worth that in addition to my salary if I had a job outside. No job is perfect. I am not even sure if Focus is any good or not, I have not worked there. But if one poster says there are good days and bad, I say that is the most honest answer you are going to get anywhere, and if you need a job badly, how is it to hurt trying it out, until you know for sure for yourself? THanks for listening. But sometimes this board gets to be a bit much with the agendas of people railing on other people like the OP here who just wanted all opinions instead of just one side. Balance is always great. And, if things seem lop-sided, then it is a good thing to seek out both sides. IMHO.
I think they would. Those are good days for 10-hour days. sm
I have a set schedule but it is Tues-Sat and it works well for me. It wouldn't hurt to ask!
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
NO BONUSES
X
Bonuses
You missed the point completely. This is a profitable MT service with over 600+ MTs. There is nothing thoughtful at all about sending an item that cost less than $4 (no exageration on that figure by the way), with no letter of recognition, no Happy Holidays, no nothing. It certainly sent a message to me of how much they valued the job I did this year for them. Furthermore I have gotten very inexpensive gifts in the past from both large and smaller MTSOs that were not expensive but thoughtful and totally appreciated, so please do not interpret this strictly as a money issue.
Bonuses
One very nice bonus from some local docs I take care of. One extremely tacky cheap bonus from my main employer. While I don't think anything is owed, and did not even expect anything, I am struggling with the fact that this was absolutely insulting.
bonuses
Once in a blue moon they will offer a bonus if an account is in severe backlog, but no regular incentive bonuses. They already pay pretty well, so I'm not too concerned about production bonuses.
Why would they pay bonuses when they don't pay OT?

Bonuses
Too many people such as you tend to feel they are ENTITLED to a bonus no matter what the economy is. You should be very thankful that you even have a job (even one you complain about at every opportunity) when so many people are so much less fortunate than yourself.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

Quarterly bonuses
Are the quarterly bonuses still being offered for SE's and what about the SE's who have been here for years??
SE's still get quarterly bonuses
I still get quarterly bonuses as an SE..I also have gotten extra for tier work.  I dont know what that is all about, I havent asked (dont like dealing with the office much)..What I think, however, is as a part timer, if I do more than 6,000 lines/pay period, I guess I move to a higher tier.  I got approximately $30.00 extra a few pay checks ago.  It was listed on my pay stub.
6-8.5 cpl. Don't know about bonuses or benefits. nm
s
Signon bonuses
I agree. There are so many MTs flooding the marketplace, they do not need to offer bonuses. (Sadly enough.)
SIGN-ON BONUSES
Not all companies that offer a sign-on bonus are bad news. Typically a company will offer a sign-on bonus if they are looking to fill positions quickly. A lot of times, this is interlinked with a new client/account go-live. The company wants to make sure they have enough MTs for the go-live. A sign-on bonus also draws more MTs to apply.
Thx. Do they have incentive or bonuses?
nm
Where did you read that about bonuses? nm
nm
More TransTech bonuses
More Transtech bonuses: If less than 10% of reports goes to QA, you get 1/4 cent to line 1.

Also - shift differential & weekend differential to line 1.
MDI Maryland -- Bonuses?
It was my understanding that MDI does not have production incentives or bonuses. However, when I looked at their website it says this:

. . . And we show it to you through appreciation, excellent pay, bonuses and, more importantly, respect for your work.

Does any MDI MT have any info concerning the bonuses? I would appreciate it.
Saying that bonuses for quality sm

and production along with working what are for a lot of people unpopular shifts should not be making up for not being paid for headers/footers if the MT is doing the work to get that information.

A bonus paid for other things (not sending to QA, working midnights or reaching very high line counts while doing the other 2 things) should not be replacing pay lost, it should be IN ADDITION.

No bonuses that I'm aware of - s/m
Only been there a couple of months, though.  Schedule:  You pick either a Sun-Thu or Tue-Sat schedule.  You have a 24-hour window to make your daily line count.  Minimum required line count is 700 lpd.  Need a day off - just tell your supervisor.
Sign on bonuses
I got a job with WebmedX with a $250.00 sign on bonus.  Then, they charged me $250.00 to use their equipment.  I quit 2 months later.  So much for the sign on bonus.  Anyone actually get one?
Sign on bonuses
How do sign on bonuses work?  Has anyone ever received one?  I have seen a couple of companies say a $500 sign on bonus and was wondering, do you get this when you start or after you have been there a designated amount of time?  Was just curious.  TIA.
Shall we bet these managers are getting a bonus to do this. I bet so. Wonder how many bonuses they
will get when everyone quits or they lose all the accounts. Do you think these managers ever did transcription. Give me a break.
Anyone notice there seem to be less sign on bonuses out there? (sm)

I am assuming (and we all know what happens when we assume) that this is because so many of the MQ people are out looking to change jobs that the companies feel like they don't have to work so hard to attract people.

Any Christmas gifts/bonuses from...
Any Christmas bonuses or gifts from Futurenet Technology?
Referral bonuses not paid - that's NOT RIGHT. nm
Not right at all.
spheris incentives and bonuses.....
When I worked there, they did not offer actual monetary bonuses or incentives. I did get a drop in pay from $12.50 an hour to $10.50 an hour and never understood that one, especially being a four-star quality employee. BUT...when I worked there, they did, especially around Christmas and New Year's, offer such things as Home Depot cards, etc. It was almost like having your name drawn out of a hat or playing the lottery. If you were online when they were ready to pick a winner, you just might win that card. I won many, many times..very easy (and fun). They used to pay for spaces, but I don't remember them paying for headers and footers. Base pay was not that great and never a raise. I got the raise when they were Edix, but they dropped me back when it became Spheris. Hope that helps.
