Okay! Sounds like you are an unhappy person.
    wow!
    lol...yah, person sounds kinda mad
    /
So, are you her spokes person? This sounds like YOG and Carol Cirullo all over again! nm
    x
That person sounds like a whacko. Aren't you glad -
you WERE offered 1 cpl? That way there was no chance you or anyone else would ever accept a job working for her. Even if she paid 12+ cpl, I think it's pretty much a given that the aggravation of dealing with someone that rude and hostile every day would be no where NEAR what you were getting paid. I also have to wonder what she has to stoop to charging her client (would rather doubt there's more than one!) in order for them to put up with her as well.
    ex-keystroker
Flexible - ha - it's a 3 misses of your turnaround time and you are out - at least that's the way it was 6 months ago - so I have no reason to think anything has changed. Just remember, too EMOTIONAL DRAMA!
    How convenient!!!

That is not the way to do it.  You should work your shift, cesspool tooo!!!

    ex-keystroker
just because you are happy with your position and NEVER run out of work does not mean that someone else does not have the right to post what they are exp with the company.....for all we know you are in management!!!!  I had the SAME thing happen to me and had to quit b/c maybe unlike you I need a paycheck to survive!!!!!!!!!!
    question for Keystroker

Any KSr know when health insurance benefits start for a new employee?  Will they contact me or do I need to contact them?

Again, this would be a good question for a KS board I know.

I guess it is now the norm but it did not used to be the norm.

    It's totally convenient and fair...
cesspool to one is a primary to another. If you only worked your primary, you wound not be taking primary from another. You should be thanking me....unless you and I share the same primary; then you could be upset cuz I am cleaning house on that one.

If my PS has a problem, she will let me know. I don't look to you to tell me what is fair or not fair.

I am flex and do not get benefits or OT. I work my schedule when the work is there.
    my BEHAVIOR?
I asked to clear the board of the MDI/Transcend-ness that has inundated it.

What does that have to do with my compassion??

You can talk and commiserate till the cows come home.
I just heard back that I passed the test and they asked when it was convenient to contact me by phon
    nm
    No excuse for their behavior.
I have also worked as an MT and as a manager. I worked in QA for DSG. Those ladies are the rudest individuals that I have ever encountered. All managers at all MT companies are under lots of pressure. Each company, until DSG, did not take out their frustrations on the MTs. There is no excuse for their behavior. Period.

Sure, there are emails that are not urgent. How about the emails that they NEVER answer? Huh? Most emails that I sent to any of them were NEVER answered. They obviously do not know what they are doing. They kept piling new accounts into the same work pool instead of creating a separate work pool - to avoid MTs having to keep up with specifics on several different accounts. The messages that they included in the backlog reports were also rude most of the time. I marvel at the fact that they are still in business.
We can discuss whose behavior is sad
And if you aren't familiar with the word Hades, which gets through the word censors when it's other more common alliteration does not, then perhaps you should read more rather than spend your time on the board star gazing.
Unfortunately, many practice this unethical behavior. sm
I worked for a company that sold out to MQ. A certain person took all of the names of the MTs with her when she went to another company, went after the accounts this company had, and tried to recruit the MTs for that account for the new company.

I asked how they go my name and number as I had never applied to this new company before - and I was told so and so worked at such company and we have this account now and you used to work on for such and such company....etc. I was shocked to say the least!

So, yes it does happen, and NO I never took the job and asked them to please not contact me again that I was not interested.

Nothing is sacred anymore - not even our privacy let alone the hospitals and patients!

That sort of behavior was well illustrated by
well back into history, and there are a lot of reasons for it. Partly genetic, partly situational.
Seriously, dont let them bother you.. This behavior is typical.
It is normal for some people here to react this way. It would probably be beneficial for THEM to get out of the house to remember how civilized people converse.
the corps make their money on this behavior
and they probably laugh quite a bit at how fast one will sell out another, or at those especially willing to work for nothing and then browbeat others who know they are worth far more than what they are paid.

Look around. The only people who have much of anything now are people who have unions. you can hate them, you can criticize them, but those people still have jobs and so would we have if we would have at least unionized to, if anything, keep our jobs here in the US. But women could not even agree on that. I would gladly have paid 35 dollars a month to have the same pay I have 10 years ago. rather now I am expected to make about half my pay from 10 years ago, and if I complain I get these sadistic women trying to bully me into thinking that is a good thing somehow and 'how lucky I am to at least have a job'
how do you know i am not the norm?
Based upon just the posts on MTstars? did you do an independent survey? I gave her my experience, which is for several years with 2 different branches/mgmt of the company. p.s. MQ is the largest MT provider in the WORLD. Do you think the MAJORITY of these MTs are so unhappy? I don't. THAT is why is shared my experience. Sorry if you don't like it.
    $1.35 seems the norm. nm

    the norm if ..
you refuse better conditions.  Since there are companies out there who do pay more for your time and effort I would not say that 1.35 is the norm, I'd say that it is the norm you will settle for.  Keep that in mind when you do your collective thinking everyone.  Frankly, being paid by the page to do heavy MRI and scan work is a total insult to the MT who is transcribing the work.
Yes, 8 cpl is the norm (nt)
    x
    This is not the norm.
It is less than honest to make people believe this is the norm only to find out once hired...it's not.  There are VERY few accounts or platforms at ANY company that would allow MTs to get that kind of count daily....unless working lots of OT.
Did I ever say this was the norm? I think NOT
All I said was that is what I do on my particular ER account with lots of templates and easy docs. There are multiple different types of accounts at KS on multiple different platforms. Did I once come out and say that everyone should be able to get that kind of a line count? No. I did not. Someone asked what ER MTs at KS usually average for line counts, and I simply responded that I type between 2500-3000 a shift with no OT on my account. I did not speak for anyone other than myself. Good god. Get over it!
Actually, the norm for this was
explained to me this way: For every 1 minute of dictation it should take 2 minutes to type it. This is using the old fashion way of transcribing, meaning straight typing, no Expanders and so on. So, if you use expanders, of course, the typing time is cut down further. You also have to keep in mind whether or not the dictator is good or bad, whether it's an ESL dictator, if you are new to the account and so on. All of these things will increase the amount of time it takes to transcribe any report.
something else going on here then, not the norm.nm
    nm
I do too - in the 7 - 8 hrs of norm. NM
    !
    Yes, it's the norm here...
There are a lot of nasty attitudes here.  I admit, occasionally I have one, too.  I think it has something to do with this industry and the abuse so many MTs receive these days.  My suggestion would be, if you enjoy this site for the most part, just take a break and come back on a different day .
I think it is one person. I had a few print outs from a few weeks ago and this person even capital
I have had a positive one. I have been with Keystrokes for 3 months and am very happy.

I printed them to show my manager but she told me that there are few bitter people out there and no one can do anything about them. My manager said that everyone can tell that it is the same few over and over again, for Keystrokes and a few other companies as well. Time to move on Ms. Anon. I cannot think why a company would go through the trouble of getting IDs and getting you installed just to ignore you after that. Doesn't make sense, does it? Are you sure that't the whole truth? You keep saying truth but it sounds fishy.
Exactly what I'm talking about RUDE! You are a very unhappy person. A happy person does not
respond in such a way!  This is the reason SS has such a bad name.
    MQ not the norm...welllllllll
guess I'm not either?  No complaints on my end w/over 11 years
It seems to be the norm now. I am at $1.15 and make sm
over $50k a year, so it is not bad. If you are fast, know the terminology and have a good mix of types of radiology reports, it would be good.
LOL ... well, that is the exception, not the norm. sm
I wasn't trying to brag at all.  I'm older and simply cannot do that on a daily basis (wish I could!).  My only point was that if they were cheating me, it would not be possible.  I agree with the poster above -- if people think they are being cheated, then they should just move on.  This using several line counters and checking and double checking and so on and so forth seems a huge waste of time.
3 years is the norm. nm
    nm
Well if this is becoming the NORM there's a problem s/m
There was a big news article today about skyrocketing late/no credit card payments due to the housing market burst and the upcoming recession.  Maybe a little 1984  here, but could this credit check be being done by companies as another reason why they can't find qualified workers in the US, thus villifying further offshoring of jobs??
98% here and I thought that was the norm. nm
    x
    Two weeks is the norm
    Good luck!
    Don't blame you.
This career is nothing special. I have been treated as badly as in any career I've had. Doesn't matter how hard you work or how much smoochin ya do, you get burned every way you turn.

My opinion of this industry has changed drastically in the last year. It sux.

I used to come to this board and wonder why people were angry and bitter and negative. It didn't take me long to figure it out.

Companies think we are so desperate to sit at home in our little prison cells we call offices that we will put up with anything.

There's a few good places out there, but they continue to dwindle. I'm glad I happened into this line of work when I did. With just around five years, I'm not too stuck to get out. I got a nice job outside the house that's easy and fun and pays well, and this is just a hobby anymore. If I hadn't paid so much for my education, I'd find a new hobby.

I would be more apt to blame
your employer for this and not UPS .. all things are traceable through their system and when they tell you overnight .. they mean it .. unless this week you live in Denver.  I would talk to the FutureNet people.  UPS cares about their reputation.
Can't say that I blame you! nm
    nm
they need to look at mgt & not blame the MTs
It is mgt/team leads that is telling MTs not to record extra hours for OT if they work extra. That is not the MTs fault!!! Don't be nasty to the MTs who are the bread and butter of your company or everybody will quit!
I don't blame you one bit but....
There is an unrest afoot that is probably going to impact the people who pay us peanuts for our valuable talent. I am an MTSO and still have lots of work but I am not fooling myself that it will get worse before it gets better. In the 1970s we all got fed up with the low pay and walked off the job. Then the powers that be realized that they must pay us more. It got better for a long time but now we are up against India, VR and EMR. All those things are proving to not be what they are cracked up to be and it is just a matter of time before they realize again they they must pay us for our valuable expertise. So if you still want to get out, may I suggest real estate? If you rae smart enough to to MT, then you are smart enough to do RE. Anyway, just my $.02 worth.
I cannot blame the ones who have
had bad experiences with MQ, everyone is different with different needs, but this is exactly why I came back to MQ. I tried others over the years and have had the same experience you mention here. I need to work full time to support my family and so far MQ has been the only company that can provide me with consistent work, unfamiliar or familiar accounts - it is all money to me.
    I don't blame you at all...sm
Let me know how it goes and if you get your own accounts.
    Everybody else to blame
You chose where to put your money. Yes,it's easier to blame everybody else. Go ahead a be a victim if you want, but it doesn't have to be that way. If you keep blaming everyone else for your problems, don't expect your situation to get any better.

Half the problem with our economy now is the victim mentality and everybody wanting someone else to take care of them and tell them what to do, and then when things go wrong, throwing blame at everyone and refusing to take any responsibility for their own actions.
I don't blame you one bit...
for getting out if they cut your pay for editing yet they get the paid the same as text. I think it's awful, and more MTs should not be putting up with that. I'm just saying for myself, where I am right now, I enjoy my job, make good money, great boss, and flexible hours.
    Hey I don't blame you
not in the least little bit.

It's rough out there and to be frank, after 10 yrs of this work it seems it's gotten to be kind've the same all over. Just a small recommendation though, keep looking for other jobs as well. I don't mean quit Oracle, just another part-time job in addition. It's good to have a safety net.

Good Luck and I hope it works out for ya !
I don't blame her one bit. She will sm
find another job probably better than the one she had. Family still comes first and these companies an scr## themselves!
But really, can we blame her? If any of us

do the same thing.  I worked for MDI.  I loved MDI.  I have always known D to be someone of yes, integrity.  I don't believe her integrity flew out the window.  There is surely a lot we don't know.  And of course, D would not have been at liberty to discuss the coming merger before it happened.

D is a businesswoman.  The purpose of a business is to generate income.  She ran her company with honesty and integrity.  I can't say I wasn't suprised, shocked even, at what has happened.  But I have known D since the early 90s and I know she is a good person and truly cares about people.  I don't know how to reconcile that with what has happened other than to think there is more to the story than we know and that it is the decision that D needed to make at this time for whatever reason, whether it be to ensure a secure retirement, whether it was because she was no longer able to compete with offshoring and VR - and I think this may be part of it because she had told me at one time that facilities were wanting to pay for transcription in light of VR and offshoring and their ability to get it for less elsewhere, or whether she was just tired and ready to not be the one at the helm any longer.

Whatever the reasons, I choose to believe that D is still the person of integrity I have always known her to be.  I just accept that there must be more to the story than I know.

I wish the best to D and to all MDIers.  I feel like an era has come to a close and it will never be the same again.  But I feel lucky to have been a part of Signal and MDI and to have known D.

It is becoming more of the norm so I adjusted to, not resisted the
    .
Yes, very serious; however, 700 lph is not the norm every day. It just depends on the dictator. Th
Sometimes the reports are 98% accurate and sometimes, depending on the dictator, they are 90% accurate. As you know in this field, it depends on the day and dictator. The daily average, after all is said and done, is about 600 lph, 700 is on the very high end and not a consistent average every day.
