Been working for Cardioscribe for a year, never once did not get paid within one week of end of pay

In Reply to: Any Cardioscribe MTs get their line - yet for pay that is supposed to be

Instead of complaining why don't you do, as I did, and just ask. The line counts are being finalized now and the bank deposit will be made tomorrow. As you mentioned, in past posts pay day is the 7th and 22nd, so start the complaining tomorrow if we do not get paid. I have worked here a year and never once did not get paid within 7 days of close of a pay period. That is pretty good compared to other places I have worked for that took 2 and 3 weeks to get paid for a period of time. For those of you that like to say nasty little things about Cardioscribe, quite often, please do us all a favor and find yourself another job and good luck to you. This will blow your mind I am sure, but I am not afraid to backup what I post with my name. Sheryl Cantrell. You are very welcome to contact me if you have questions and apparently do not know how to ask the right person to get answers. I know Tonya posted her name, email and phone number and none of you who seem so unhappy working here have contacted her. As I told her today, there is just some people that like to stir up trouble no matter where you work. If you can find a place that treats you with more respect, kindness, and never a problem getting paid, please go and be happy.

WMX-only 1 week first year no sick SM
6 holidays, but if you are supposed to work the holiday you have to request it off.
3 days of PTO 1st year NOT 1 week!
With the paid holidays. Absolutely not 1 week until you are there OVER a year, then 3.077 hours per pay period.
Do you get paid by the week?
I would hope so.
I was there last year & got paid right from the very 1st pay day, by

I did a 2-week stint with MQ last year...trust me...sm
Even with the growing pains TT is having, it is 100% better than my experience at MQ. It sometimes takes a while to get through, but the supervisors, QA, and tech support are 100% helpful and 100% polite.

The work on the new account is far better in quality of dictators and sound quality that what I saw at MQ. You can look up completed reports as reference, and you can look up your old reports to review your blanks, so getting up to speed is pretty easy. QA even e-mails you the physician name or referring facility you couldn't figure out.

The bonus schedule is substantially better than what I was given at MQ, and the base pay is higher. I have taken my time putting together my normal for each and every report, learning account specifics, and figuring out the names of the new doctors, but even then I am still at 80% of goal(and this is typing second shift after doing 600-700 lines a day on another job).

Just to make the comparison really accurate, this is my second week at TT. I had already decided at this point in the game MQ was not going to work. Don't be nervous about the negative things. Of course everything isn't sunshine, but I think you are going to like this just fine.

I would recommend joining the TT board on Yahoo. I am on there, and a lot of other extremely helpful and satisfied people. They helped me fill in some of the communication gaps and were very welcoming, too.

I paid both self-employment tax AND SS last year. sm
I don't think they're the same. With SE tax, I think the feds assure themselves that they get enough money out of us. Social Security is allegedly tucked away for our old age.
Why do you want to get paid every week versus every 2 weeks?

They asked me to work OT every week, NEVER paid
any OT, did not get raise after 90 days.  They said I would but it never happened.
Working for about a year
at Cymed in Ohio. This is the first national company I have been with, so I can't really compare it with others. No problems so far, paycheck is always on time. Seems to always be plenty of work. I type in the evenings most of the time but they seem to be pretty flexible, if I need to make a change in my schedule. Must work one weekend day, either Sat or Sun.
So are Heartland MTs actually working this week?

Do they have any work for you to do or is everything being sent to the centers in India?

I got mine last week. It was postmarked 1/22/08. I actually have a refund coming this year! sm
I had been an IC for so long that I forgot how fun it is to get a refund, even if only $127!
Now that bonuses are paid by total lines per week sm
it doesn't matter what your LPH total is, so you can stay clocked in or out for those little things, as you choose.
Before I quit working last year sm
because of health reasons, I was working for Future-Net and had planned on staying with them for the long term. I had come from a national I had been with for 23 years that was great when I started years ago but got bad later. Future-Net reminded me and treated me like it was way back in the day. The money was great andI liked the platform. I just had to leave because of health.

Everybody is different but sometimes you have to make up your mind you are going to stay (unless it just gets so intolerable you can't). There is good and bad in everything. But I still say there are companies that will work with anyone who is willing to cooperate, no complain,do their QUALITY work etc. That was my experience with FN.
Why should you get paid when you are not working?
x
won't be paid if not working I am sure
They seem to be paying only those who threaten to quit or not do work, but those who have quit have not been paid. Probably never will. They are light on Transcriptionist and those still there have to say no pay no work before they get a check, then cross fingers to see if it clears. I honestly don't understand why anyone would work for them. I would rather make 6-1/2 cents a line and know a check was coming - little pay better than no pay. Besides their pay was not all that great anyway at .65 and .75 per line if you were lucky.
You were PAID for NOT working. Yes, it's THE SAME. nm
x
Yes. I earn almost $40,000 working 32 hours a week. nm

Last year, from Keystrokes we got Blockbuster gift cards for Christmas and for MT week sm
we got candles and candy. I always get a birthday card too, which is very nice.
You only get 3 holidays OFF per year. PTO is paid at a very low rate. There is 401k...sm

But the company match is only up to 2%. Employees are required to work at least 1 weekend day every week.

All of the hospitals/clinics have a lot of ESLs, that's just the way it is. But a lot of them also use canned normals, which we love.

There's a lot more to consider than how much the medical plan costs.

In the past year and half, I have always been paid on time. --nm
X
HA! First year made $30,000, that is working six months SM
for hospital and the next six months for small MT office with a very big account. Oh, those were the days!
50,000.00 a year working for Spheris? ROLF!!!
xx
I make about $1,500 a month working about 20 hours per week.

Believe me, I'm not bragging or slamming anybody at all.  No way.  I'm frustrated with my own income because I'd like to make more.  I'm willing to put in more hours to do it, too.  Honestly, I'm not that fast.  I have one very small local account and one small MTSO I subcontract for.  None of it is verbatim, it's clean up the grammar as you go, which totally slows me down.

I won't work for a national any more because I couldn't make enough money there.  I wasn't willing to tough it out for three months until I could make their line counts, especially when they had me on their worst accounts, pools of hundreds of dictators per hospital so I couldn't use my expander, and a new account every week.

I've said before that if I'm going to do MT, it's going to be on my terms.  I won't chain myself to a desk or be "on call" all day long waiting for work to come in.  Nationals don't pay you to sit there and wait for work.  That's bull.  Being on call IS working.  Other businesses pay their "on call" people at least minimum wage.  They skirt around the issue trying to use SE and IC terminology, but it's just a way of paying us less to be at their beck and call.

Don't give up on MT entirely.  You'll find your fit.  It just takes some searching.

If you are speaking of this week at TT, they are working on payroll which is MORE Important to me

I love to leave them alone on pay week, especially, as I really enjoy always getting my paycheck on time !

I dont seem to bother them at all, tho.  No need to.

Working and not getting paid?? What are the options?

Hi,

I have a friend who is a newer MT and has been working very hard for a particular company. This company has not paid her and they owe her over $1000.00 at this point. She is a newer MT and would probably have a harder time finding something else so she is caught between a rock and a hard place. The owners of the company will NOT return her calls or emails but yet they still have her work. She does not know a lawyer and does not have the money to hire one. Does anyone have any advice for her on what she should do? I have been in a similar situation but I was finally paid and I did not work much. My family kept telling me to quit but yet I needed the experience. Any help would be appreciated. I really feel for her.

Thanks!!!

Working and not getting paid?? What are the options?
THANK YOU to all that applied. I have let my friend know to read your messages. Great suggestions!! Thanks again everyone!!!!
Yep, on a keychain PLUS they paid me a fair wage the entire year. (nm)

NO paid holidays for us all year round. If there is any work on the holiday, you get

lines and a half, but usually there is no work.  They usually clear out the work before the holiday so there is no 1-1/2 line pay remaining.  Transtech names 6 holidays each year, but the MT takes those holidays off WITHOUT pay.    I am sure the office staff and all other non-MT staff take off WITHOUT pay, too, aren't you????   LOL

Which MT companies DO pay an MT for holidays.  I don't consider a day a HOLIDAY unless it is PAID.  They can call it 6 holdays, but have to take off without pay . . . . just another day, i.e, get sick -- NO PAY.

Yes, we have had server issues this week. Dictaphone engineers are working on it.
Have you never worked anywhere else where this has happened? This used to happen in-house where I worked too, at least once or twice a year. Machines do need upgrading and repair from time to time. And just for clarity...they did send out emails about the server issues and also about Jesse leaving. Get over it already. geez.
How do MTs get paid if it is not on time sheet. Are they just working to keep
p
Why would you keep working for a company for 3 months without being paid? sm

I'm sorry this happened to you, but when the first month's check didn't arrive, that would have been it.  I still enjoy transcribing (most days) but not enough to do it for free.

Good luck to you in getting your money   That's an awful thing to happen to anyone.

Made 1200-1600 per week paid on a gross line for 5 years!
It CAN be done. The key is either a really high line rate or canned text over and over again with very small accounts. I had a little of both and then some harder stuff thrown in. It also helps if you work like you are on fire most of the day. Needless to say, that gravy train ran out of juice and now I am back to *normal* pay of around $750 per week at another company. SO many variables out there with the *how much do you make?* question.
I agree. I was thanked for working extra the end of last week and told of some MTs on my job type
who were out due to illness or vacation and that we were getting behind.  Same as the message this morning....the minutes were building up.  Seems things are a bit desperate at this point and we all just need to quit trying to read into the situation and pitch in and get the work back under control.  OUR company needs OUR help, and we need to pitch in 200% or we may very well find ourselves without an account to work on.  I don't think it was a threat this morning - I think it could happen.
I am not a recruiter and I do not get paid to say nice things. I just like working for sm
them. Is that so wrong? I have a lot of work, I like my account, I get paid well and on time. That's 4 for 4 in my book. I have not found that anywhere else.

Their ads do not say 9 cpl for everyone; they list a range.

The equipment is not ancient. I have an internet count.

Why do so many come on here to b**** and moan and tell half truths. Unless you experienced it yourself or know facts, why spread things?
I remember some posts at the beginning of the year from a lady who didn't get paid - she was stea

Webmedx has 6 paid holidays a year, separate from PTO, for full time employees.

CardioScribe
Anyone presently working for CardioScribe?  Email me if you are.. thanks
? for Cardioscribe MTs - Have any of you sm
figured out how to view or actually know your line counts on a daily basis?  I feel like I'm typing and typing but not sure I'm actually getting credit for my lines.
Any Cardioscribe MTs get their line
tomorrow?  This is my second pay period and it doesn't seem to be automatic but the posts a couple of weeks ago said 7th and 22nd?
Cardioscribe hiring
I can't find their website for application.  I find it interesting two points of view about this company.  I truly am hoping to find an employer who is flexible with hours with an IC'er.  Any information please?
MediScribe/CardioScribe

Are these two the same company?  I've seen individual job openings for each one together and apart?  I've applied to both companies individually and have been contacted by Tonya.  I'v not been able to in touch with her and don't know which company she is from.

Any Cardioscribe team leads here?
If so, please email me or post here. Just wanting to know if the hourly rate is fair and would like to hear what you think about your job.
Must we choose either 8, 16 or 24 hours. Why would they want someone only working 8 hours a week.
That is less than SE are required now.
Bare minimum? I make over $50,000 a year in 40 hours a week. That is not bare minimum. sm
Bare minimum would be $8 an hour which is $16,640 a year or $10 an hour which is $20,800 a year. I make more than twice that and that is NOT bare minimum.

I worked to get my typing speed to 80 wpm. I worked to get my Expanders user-friendly and plentiful. I am not the fastest because I look up what I do not know, but I am lucky to have a very good memory so if I type it a few times, I do not have to look it up. I keep notes when I run across something I do not know. I am interested in my profession and read the magazines for our profession and network with other transcriptionists during my free time, devoting a minimum of 2 hours per week to networking and learning new things.

I am not the fastest MT, but I am accurate and boiled it down to simple math. I need to transcribe 250 lines per hour for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. At 10cpl, that is 2000 lines a day x 5 days per week x 50 weeks per year. I take 2 weeks off per year during July to visit my grandchildren (unpaid), 1 week a year to vacation with my husband (paid) and 1 week a year to spring clean (paid). I have worked for the same company for 4 years and 8 years for the one before this.

I treat my work hours as work hours and take 1/2 hour for lunch which I do not include in my 8 hours. I pretend that I am working outside the home and do not answer the door, get the mail, do laundry, etc. If I have a good day and go over the 2000, I bank it in my mind for days that are not as good and make sure that I get 10,000 lines each week.

My W2 each year is consistently $50,000. A few years it was higher, but I worked a few weekends, which I no longer do.

It IS possible.
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Full time with Transtech is both. 40 hours per week and 5500 lines per week.
x
Nope .. email on 1/18 promised "within the next week." Here we are, 1 week later and no info.
x
The minimum is 5500 per week, NOT 6600 per week. I think you made a typo. :)
NM
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
