I didn't knock anyone. nm

Please don't knock J. I never worked SM
for SS, but she was my supervisor at Edix. She could be a pain in the behind, but she was fair and also fairly honest, which is more than supervisor, and everyone else, now at Spheris.
Did someone knock a chip off your shoulder?
kisses and hugs
Can you check your line count (sm)
are you paid for headers/footers on your account?
How can we check our line counts
I have asked for a way to determine what my line count is for every chart, and I still don't know how they're determined.  I have a much lower line count than with my last company.  How do you know the lines are being skimmed?  How can we tell?
please spell check before you post
advice is with a C.. NOT an S
I routinely check my line count against theirs
nm
Where do I send my line count and when do I get my check?
:+
I check the line counts constantly.-sm
Believe it or not, they're accurate.  I have a program that counts these.  I wouldn't work for anybody any other way.
When I check my line count, there is no problem at all. nm
nm
Double check your line counts.
p
you can check line count anytime
no headers and footers are not paid, but line count is always available with number of reports by using the Sessions statistics within the program and I believe is correct.
Bottom line---Check with your supervisor.
If the CP does not state to insert apostrophes and you are to follow BOS2, then QA is wrong. The only way to clear this up is to ask someone who has the authority to make that decision.
I've not been short on work at all. Plenty so far (knock on wood) lol. nm

If you say anything good about this company, the trolls want to knock you down,but..Sound is fine

Where's my post??wanted to check for an answer
I posted yesterday looking for information on a company that had called me.  I cannot find my post or any answers.  Is this board pruned regularly?  Could not find anything in the archives either.  thanks - i may just need to post again.
Check the hospital web sites. Most have their job openings on line now. nm

I routinely double check line counts
I have audited my line counts often using Sylcount and the line counts are always pretty much right on compared to BayScribe.  I have no reason to believe they fudge on line counts, but I would never take someone's word for it, so I always run audits periodically myself.  It has never been a problem.
ChartNet is a 70 or 75 character line count. Check into it. nm

Oops, meant to post under credit check

That really irks me that a company thinks they can run someone's credit without authorization - business like them need to pay through the pocketbook - maybe they will learn a lesson.

I don't mind undergoing credit check if I'm told in advance and I authorize it - but I would DEFINITELY go after a company for the maximum penalties allowed  if it ran one without my consent.

Check out post from "Tech Support" on here a few days ago . . .
said you can do this if you create another partition to install it on, and then you have to prompt computer which system you wish to boot from when you restart it.
they do not pay for spaces, line count not verified, check archives!! nm
x
Well, you should have no reason to check if you're one of the MTs who gets good line counts.
x
I thought someone posted on here about 75 char line, and can't check lines...nm
x
We could check our line counts up-to-the-minute with CTRL I inhouse n/m

I agree with all of your post except the last line!
It means they do not have control of their money, will probably never be satisfied with their work and may have garnishments and other legal issues for me to have to contend with.

Your credit score is a very good indicator of how responsible you are.

Her post says the 9 cpl is per line (no mention of) - sm
gross character, but that the 8 cpl is for gross character line. So on that info. alone, I'd go with the 9 cpl, as it appears to include spaces (which it should).
companies that do not post line rate...
In some of these postings (I'm talking mostly about the big nationals here), the recruiters spend LOTS of time talking about what they have to offer but are noticeably silent about line rate. If a company has so much to offer, it should be proud of the line rate it is offering. It always seems like they are trying to rope me in in some way & then will spring the bad news on me once they have a captive audience, like a bunch of used car salesmen.

If I don't see a line rate next to pay/compensation I just substitute embarrassingly low & move on to the next listing.

I've had the thought that the listings should be divided into Big National and MTSO --- and within that, willing to show line rate and not willing to show line rate.

Anyone else?
Hmm, post is about skewed line counts. Could that

If you're referring to the 20K-line post, I am NOT mgmt...sm
I make this type of line count because I'm willing to work on different accounts and work extra when the need arises. I LIKE paying my bills, so I am flexible - and that, in this day and age, is on of the real keys. Nothing is as it used to be when work was consistent and pay was better, but I need to pay the bills. I have a great communication with my supervisor, and that is another key. If you don't talk to somebody about your problems or lack of work of whatever, it cannot be fixed. I don't care if I have to learn every acct the company has - I'm going to do that, because it will ensure that I can maintain a good line count at the end of the payroll period, thereby affording me a better check.

The basic fact is that working for a company is no different than any other aspect of your life. If it's not working for you, then you MUST make a change. Complaining about something will not change it - and ultimately you will spend your life feeling miserable - and trying to make other people feel miserable, too. I choose the opposite.

I've been at a multitude of other nationals and, for me and for now, this IS the company that I'm happy with and with whom I intend to stay.

You can go ahead and flame away - 'cause while you're sitting here typing nasty responses, accusing me of being mgmt, or making negative responses about Transcend, I'm working away. Now if that sounds "condescending" to you, TOUGH!
The above post proves my point! You are out of line and that was uncalled for..sm
not to mention utterly ridiculous to even read. Why are you reaching so high to make this MT look bad because she doesn't want to work a weekend? Get over it already. The OP obviously has a life, some of us do! Maybe it's time you get one!
Post from May said they still use DOS and dial-up modem, need a 2nd line, dock U for errors, and

Post from June 2006 said the ESL load was very heavy and you needed a Cphone & 2nd line. Used to

A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

Does background check include credit check?

"You can check my credit if I can check yours"
x
Means a line is a line is a line, even if it only has one word on the line
it is considered a line.
My post should say the post above not the post below, Sheryl's post to be specific. nm
nm
"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
Credit check, FBI check was not for
me. The notion that if you don't pay your bills means your not a responsible person really kills me!!! Lots of people have $$ problems, especially if you are an MT, LOL!!! They are the only company I know that does these checks. Seems a little anal to me!!!
They can check mine if I can check theirs...nm

Yes to old reports! Their ExText has all the regular functions except line counts are done on line
s
Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)

Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Keystrokes has very few accts on line using ExText. Most use Cphones/2nd line. Lots of Rad
s
Could someone help me with the figuring out of gross line versus character line? sm
I have generally been paid by character line, 65-character line.  Now, I have had job opportunities offering to pay gross line but it like 3 cents cheaper than what I am being paid now.  A few places I have read that gross line is MUCH better, but is it much better if the pay is so much lower?  Please explain how it works or equals out.  This position has offered me 6 cents per gross line - what would that equal out to in character lines?  Thanks...so confused...
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm

if there seven words on a line.

or two

one

or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines.  not the blank spaces between the lines.

Hope this helps.

I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.

I hope that was of some help.
15 years ago, I charged .22 per line to big accounts. Now I have been forced down to .13 per line.
This is in part due to offshore companies, in part due to newbies coming in and underbidding to get an account but not being able to service it and then the account expecting everyone else to meet that price. The market is being driven down by many forces, and it is not pretty. I used to pay .14 per line (gross line too) and now pay my subs 0.08. It is not something I wanted to do, but something that was necessary. With only 15 MTs, I feel the squeeze more than some of the big companies out there, but cannot grow and keep up the same standards.

Healthcare in general is not the money-maker it once was, and transcription has taken a hard hit over the years.
Line counts - the lower the line count requirements
the harder the account and problems with trying to get production off the platform the company uses.
