You said a mouthful
The MT business is what the telemarketing business once was in our rural areas. Little-to-no startup costs because the communities would cough up a building and waive property taxes indefinitely just to get jobs for the community. Fast cash for the quick and charming.

In return, the owner/managers of these sweat shops could brag the average job was worth $30,000. Hah...it was worth that because he made $70,000 and paid his 3 managers in the facility $14,000.

I see it in the company I work for. The reason the checks aren't ever on time is because they cut one person out of the accounting department. The reason you can't get a response from anyone is because they cut out one of the managers. Don't ask for a raise, though, because they just aren't giving them out right now. Where exactly is all that extra money going?

I will be netting less this year than I did last year, and I never did get to be in the glory days of the profession. My first year I made $25,000 as an employee and this year I will make slightly over $30,000 gross as an IC.

In all honesty, if I lived right now in an area where there was a large hospital nearby, I would be there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the local hospital here was offering $7.38 an hour to transcribe. Ummm...I don't think so.

you said a mouthful when you said its sm
Graet for people who don't know how to type very fast but want to work from home.

That is exactly the folks who really want to do VR and nothing else.........the ones who take this job to just work from home and cannot type very fast! Doesn't translate into a real MT does it?
You just said a mouthful.

That's what I found so strange in all of this.  This all happened in a 2-day period. Why didn't VP look into this more, especially if someone was messing with an employee of HER company?  Why did she accept a 2-week resignation and then, after finding out from her employee that she never resigned, lock her out within 2 days?  OP said that it all boils down to pointing out to VP that 2 other MTs on her team had access to the manipulate the queues, one of them being the daughter of someone else in charge. I believe that wholeheartedly b/c I've had some really strange things happen to my queue at All Type.

I really don't think the VP was the one who sent the email, but it makes one wonder why she didn't do more to look into it all unless, of course, the ones in question all know each other personally.  I'm starting to wonder now if 'Elaine' from post below is the daughter of the work flow coordinator.  It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that a fellow 'team member' would come to the defense of management so vehemently.

Everytime I start this dictator she has a mouthful
of gum, candy, ?? swishing around in her mouth. How rude can you get? Even if she is not sucking, chewing or whatever she is rolling that crap around in her mouth and then there is this physician who cannot pronounce her medical terms and yet she seems like she needs to snort something back every sentence. Just gross!!
You said a mouthful, sister. United we stand,
divided we fall. Right now, we're falling.
