But....

Is it a company with a preponderance of negative feedback in the forum?  If not, maybe he's getting pressure from the account for the MT to start, and he's concerned you'll bail at the last minute?  I always TRY to give the benefit of the doubt but if it's a company with a lot of negative feedback in the forum, perhaps it should be a concern. 

Maybe another forum member will recognize this tactic and know who you're dealing with and be able to give better advice.
