I want to get away from the "nationals". I know there are smaller transcription companies out there looking for a good MT.. Hopefully someone will have some good advice for me.

Seeking company that offers good benefits including insurance.
Ideally, I'd like to find a company that offers medical insurance at a reasonable cost for family (under $500 a month) and a decent line count rate. Anyone have any ideas on this. Thanks.
Good, decent company. Pay on time. Low on work. nm

Decent company, good people, pay on time, work low sometimes. nm

They DON'T pay a decent wage or provide ample work.
They're sending it all to India. That's the point.
what company offers the best health benefits?

What company offers the best health benefits?

As far as:

waiting period before they start (I'm looking for 90 days or less),

how much they cost for yourself and dependents (I have myself +1 - spouse - can pay maybe $300/month out of paycheck at most),

PEC lookback period (preexisting condition - example - look back 3 months is better than 1 year),

pharmacy cost (I need a flat rate copay, not a percentage, with no yearly cap, and brand names and generics)

Anyone who has been happy or unhappy with their insurance through their work-at-home MT company, please share your experience and opinions. Thanks

Is there a company who offers benefits to parttime employees?
Just curious
WOULD LIKE TO FIND A COMPANY THAT HAS DECENT FAMILY INS. BENEFITS AND PTO
I have been working in-house at a hospital and would like to go home to work, but I am having a hard time finding a company out there that offers decent insurance benefits and PTO.. Any ideas are appreciated..
May I ask where you who get a decent cpl and benefits work?nm
nm
As a whole.. nice people to work for, decent benefits but the get off/on the system, work/no work,
is maddening. I couldnt pay my bills or even work the schedule I was assigned. They would ask us not to work until work built up in the evenings and I specifically wanted to work days as I have kids etc. It just didnt work out for me but to each his own. It just seems there has to be a better balance in this business that what is happening.
Yes, they are a decent company. Different personalites, overall good people. nm

TransTech for many reasons, good pay, stable company, good benefits
and flexible.
I have looked around the last 6 months and have found nothing better. Have turned down numerous jobs, and have finally decided to stay put. The better insurance plans were announced and even moreso than ever, I am staying put, and my paycheck is happy about that because it is getting better every day. Good luck to you.
Good company, great people, good benefits.
Affordable insurance. Good luck!
WebMedX is a good company. Decent pay for high level acute care
They have excellent account managers and a great QA dept. The platform is really quite easy with the improvements they have made, and they are constantly working to make it even better. Everything is geared to making the MT's job easier. I have been with WMX for over a year and I am quite pleased with them.
Best company to work for as an IC. Decent cpl etc...nm
nm
I do Rad for TT. Pay is good, tons of work, decent accounts. I know they are hiring a few more
Rad MTs now. I would highly recommend.
I work for All Type. They are a decent company.
Check them out. I am an IC but if you live in certain states you can be an employee or SE. Not sure if they need anyone right now though.
Left MQ at 8.75 cpl and had 2 offers - one for 9.5 and the other for 10, FT with benefits. (nm)

Webmedx offers benefits for FT MTs; not sure sm
how many years of experience you must have but I'd think 7-8.5 cpl to start for acute care, if you can do ops. Plus there's a bonus / incentive package for shift differential and weekends.
Pretty low-level pay and benefits. I had 6 offers and

Transolutions offers benefits at 32 hous/wk

Regarding benefits, they provide
health insurance, life insurance, and PTO. I am returning to KS after having left there a few months ago to go back to MQ. Big mistake, as we all know. When I was at KS from April to August, the benefits were okay, but I am told that as of Jan 1 they are going to be really good. They are changing insurance carriers to a much better company and are in the process of supposedly putting together a benefit package, which includes the former benefits of life insurance, health, PTO, etc as well as an incentive package. I start back with them on Oct 31 and I can't wait! I should have never left in the first place, but I guess we all make mistakes in this profession.
I wouldn't quit a decent company for seasonal low work volume.
I'd hang around and see what the New Year brings. I wouldn't say that if you were working for MQ, but I would for a company with a decent reputation. If it is still slow in January, I'd talk to my supervisor and find out what her take is on the situation.
Great company -- good benefits, average pay, easy-to-achieve sm

incentive tier, ExText platform, pay by direct deposit every 2 weeks, always on time.  The people in management seem to genuinely care about the employees, which is a nice plus.  I have been there since October and am very happy.  Of course, one man's paradise is another man's hell it seems at times, but it is a good fit for me.

Good luck!

Are there any companies out there who provide benefits at start....sm
instead of having to wait 90 days?  If so, how are they to work for?
Oh really..definitely a sob story. I mean how much could her overhead be, does she provide benefits?
If not, then it's a crock. I think it's safe to say that she is getting more than pennies for line by her clients. I guess that is what it's a call a business.  Obviously, making a big profit for themselves means more than showing kindness and loyalty to the MTs who do the work.  It's disgusting!!!
Negatives, no benefits, have to provide your own long distance, (sm)

internet platform for file transfer but audio is through phone line so you have to either rent or provide your own C-phone.  Pros 24 hours to get lines done each day but do have to work 2 weekend days a month and provide a schedule 2 months in advance.  Have heard several accounts are heavily loaded with ESLs.  You work as statuatory, therefore, file your own taxes.

Good luck to you. Hope they are lenient with the benefits with all the low work. nm

Companies are hardly offer FT employees any decent benefits so I think is going to be rare to find
them for PT employees. I would love that too, unfortunately, I work too much just to get below average benefits. Best of luck in your search. Honestly, I think the only place you'll find benefits for part-timers is going in-house at a hospital.
yes there are; keep looking, try smaller company.

What does one consider a smaller company, 100 MTs, 150 or a lot less? Just curious so I know where
to look.
Smaller company? Not me! Heartland was a
shocker to me!! No thanks! Smaller to me means easier to put on idle status - or lay off!
Does anyone recommend a pretty good company that is good to work for, pay always on time and plenty
of work.  I know that is asking a lot, but just curious?
Is Transcend a good company with a good platform to work on. They are advertising.

Webmedx offers PPO and good dental. nm

I have gotten many solid, good job leads and offers from the board...sm.
I have never received any Spam or undesirable mail, only solid offers from companies, and I have gotten a great position through this and many other back-up offers. Just be sure to post a good resume, it will represent you, and always do research through board or Google, whatever, to see if this company would really be worth pursuing.....best of luck to you! There are a few other sites that you can post to for medical transcription, posting resume and such.
The pay was decent and everything was good except
I never knew how much work I would have - sometimes too much and sometimes not enough. That was a while back, though.
I have to provide good argument here, though.
That is no different than the MTs (new or even experienced) who have poor medical terminology, poor grasp of the English language, etc.

For the newbies who don't know the difference -- maybe in a test they do but when transcribing they don't get it -- between a hemorrhage and a hemorrhoid in the brain. For the experienced MTs who have never understood that pleural is lung, plural means more than one.

I've seen great work by US MTs and by offshore MTs, alike. I have also seen the most horrifyingly low-quality work from US MTs and offshore MTs alike.

My company offers webinars that count
No extra cost to maintain CEs.

It is definitely worth it to achieve this goal. I have been an MT for 38 years and finally got my CMT this past December. I got a $.50/hour raise. But it isn't about the money for me. It is about setting a goal for myself and achieving it. I felt so proud when I saw that Congratulations, you passed.... You can't put a price tag on personal achievement.
Fairly flexible but they do like a schedule. Insurance is good. Benefits are good in my opinion.

For the past week, work has been a little slower but I think that is common in every company..some days busy and other not.

What company offers this? Doesn't sound famililar. nm
x
Our company offers a wide variety schedule
There are even folks that work both weekend days by choice. I don't see what the big deal is really. If an offered schedule doesn't suit you and the company is not willing to compromise, look somewhere else. There are a lot of options out there.

The S-Th/T-Sa scheduling must work just fine for the employers offering it or they wouldn't do it. Simple as that.
Who are the good companies that do ASR and pay a decent rate?
I have been an MT a long time - 19 yrs and I am interested in learning ASR, but I need to get informed and rate, companies, realist expectations on lph, etc.  If you can help me out and share your knowledge, I would really appreciate it.  TIA.   I am going to try to line my e-mail in here, so you can e-mail me if you would like.
very decent company
Everybody is great and helpful. Wish you the best..
Looking for decent company

I'm looking for a decent national company. It's really important that they provide the computer since mine is ancient and they accept satellite internet because I live in rural Maine and that's all available here. I support a 4-person household and really need a company that's dependable. I was looking in Webmedx, Transcript USA, and Transcription Relief Services. Anyone know anything about any of those. Not interested in Diskriter, Transcend, JLG, Spheris, or Precyse. Oh also, are all the companies going to ASR now? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

She said she was looking for a DECENT company.

Decent company

They are a decent compay with better than average pay and good benefits.  Pretty flexible as far as scheduling.  Platform is user friendly and easy to get lines with.  Team leads and supervisors are nice and helpful.

The current insurance is not bad. The coverage is decent, and they pay which is good. sm
I actually hope that they don't change, but I know that it is a big hassle for the office because they are in the middle. Too big to be individual coverage rates and too small for the best rates. I talked with the HR manager, and she told me that the rates they were given for one company tripled once all the worksheets were in. They based the price on the worst case scenario or worst health. Now they can get a flat rate but only if half of the FT employees sign up. I could here the frustration in her voice when I was talking to her. Insurance companies do not always play fair.

What good companies provide computer, etc. without charge for that equipment?

Do you know of any companies that provide computer, with or without cost to the MT?
