There is no fair QA line rate. Get out
of the biz. Let the people who don't know what they are doing take the line rates and make the companies go out of business. That's what they deserve.
They pay what I would consider a very fair line rate

but have no idea what their report rate was before.

line rate for speech
I can't really say who the company is since I haven't actually accepted the position.  Thanks for the valuable info though!
fair starting line rate
I'm considering going to work for a company paying by the line rate.  What is a good/fair begining line count rate for relative newbie (<1 yr)?
which companies pay fair line rate with designated accounts? nm

What is a good line rate for editing? nm

Transcend only pays 55% of line rate for editing...

I could have dealt with an 80% cut.  I think that is a very fair rate.  That is my whole point.  I do not have a problem with the fact that they are moving to ALL editing.  I have a problem with the cut being too large.  I think 6 cpl would have been fair.  That allows you to make a decent wage, but 4 cents is absolutely ridiculous.  If voice recognition is the way of the future, at least MQ is doing something right, at least trying to be fair.  Transcend is just greedy!!

What is the average line rate for eScription VR editing? I have
heard so many different things that I don't know what's what?  Also, for those of you on eScription, what is the averages lph that you are able to do.  TIA.
Are you sure your aren't editing speech rec?
That's what it sounds like. That is not QA.
What do you get paid for Speech Recognition editing? nm

One more speech recognition editing question...sm
Do you feel that you get double your lines of what you were actually typing when you edit speech recognition or how do you compare?  thanks
Best co's for speech recognition/editing new hire??

jokes on you, silly. editing is speech recognition, not qa.
lol
Speech Recognition Editing - Can someone explain/provide insight?

Can someone explain how Speech Recognition Editing works?

When a company hires people to do this, are they usually looking for MTs or those who have done regular QA before?

Do you listen to an entire audio file based on what a speech recognition program spits out and fix?  If so, what kinds of fixes are you normally looking for?

I'm completely ignorant on this topic so if anyone could explain the basics, what they like/don't like about it, what it's like, etc. I'd appreciate it.

Also, is there a consensus that this is perhaps the future of MT?  What do you think?

From the current editing rate not typing rate
.
What speech/editing platform do you find the most profitable (money-wise for the MT, of course)?
What company uses it, please.  Detest Dictaphone Exspeech.  DQS was very user friendly.  Any others?
Speech rate
Fifteen percent less would be more like it. Speech is for the benefit of the client, it's just not worth it, and the lure is....you can do twice as much work. Bunk! Lousy dictators come through speech just like text with all their grunts, um's, ah's, burps, and belches being printed by the system for us to remove! It's certainly cheaper for the client. Exploitation starts in the board rooms!
Except that US MTs don't get PAID a fair rate -nm
.
Is this a good rate for using Dictaphone Speech software?
They offered me 50% per line of what I was currently making back a number of months ago.  Not worth it.
Does TranTech have speech recognition and is rate reduced?(sm)

Also how would you rate their SR program as compared to Medquist SR?

is the VR line rate 60% of the regular typing line rate?
s
They cut the pay to an editing rate of 4 cpl..nm

Editing Rate
A lot depends on what platform you are editing with. Escription is clearly the best. I get paid 3.9 cents per line for editing, and I am very happy with that rate. With eScription, I can edit at about 500 lines per hour. Sometimes higher.
Editing rate
Is 2-2.5 cpl for editing an MT low?
editing rate

Is 3cpl for editing a good rate with editing people, not VR?

By the line is always the most fair...sm
To many variables, and if there is any cherry pickin going on, you are just out of luck... my experience if you are being paid this way, normally is because it is to their beneift, not the MT's benefit.
What is a good rate for editing ASR
I'm sure there are many different platforms, and I don't have any info on the platform I will be using, but I have been told on the account I currently work on, I will soon have a choice of editing Speech or typing.  Can you all share recent experiences with Speech platforms and per line rate?  Thank you!
Their line rate was less than my current nat'l rate, even with mucho experience. nm
no msg
VR rate is 1/2 rate of traditional typing,I believe it is 4 cents line.

It depends on if this is editing other MT's work or VR. If VR, that is a good rate. nm
nm
Webmedx ASR rate is 70% of your regular line rate. sm
So if you are on a 9 cpl account, you get 6.3 CPL plus any bonus / incentives / shift differential.
Is the ASR line rate 1/2 of transcription line rate? sm
Reason I ask is that I assume if they have ASR now that eventually all will be ASR except of course for the awful dictators as this seems to be the norm.
When the company line count is fair - it is easy nm
x
Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Good sound quality, fair line counting, pay always on time.
nn
I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.

I hope that was of some help.
Line rates for Dictaphone EXText Correction Client (speech)

What are the going rates for EXText correction client?  Anyone else working on this now?

Or 1.5 cents a line for editing. nm

Editing daily line count
What is considered a good hourly line count for editing?  I'm being asked this by a service....but our hospital pays by the hour and by report, not by lines.  I'm trying to come up with a reasonable number.  Thanks for your help!
RE: Editing at extremely low line rates
If you get a discount on the coffee, I'm in....LOL
Editing at extremely low line rates.
What are the standard rates for Quality Assurance Editing these days? Well, that depends on what you are editing. If you are editing TRAINED Voice Recognition files expect to make less per line, maybe a couple of cents per line. For UNTRAINED Voice Recognition files, you should be earning at least 3 cpl or better. Editing relatively clean reports that require very little change should earn you up to about 4 cpl. Editing transcribed reports by new grad MTs or offshore MTs should earn you 5 to 6 cpl. I really don't think I'm far off base here, but I am certain that if you take a job editing transcribed reports done by offshore MTs, you should not accept anything less than 5 cpl, otherwise you are doing yourself a disservice even if you are trying to break into Editing. Feel free to respond.
$0.05 per line for editing, 0.065 for transcription IS 3rd world wages.

editing rates are 1.5 cents per line....can you say SLAVE WAGES??

Line rate
I was offered 6.5 cpl. How do I calculate gross pay based on that? I'm not sure how many lines I can produce, since I'm still completing a transcription course and this will be my 1st position.
line rate
oh, my gosh -- i've been with them 3 years and am SE with a base rate of 8 cpl, but usually get 8.5 cpl with the 6000 lines minimum. that is just wrong that you've been with them that long and you're making that. have you ever asked for a raise?
How is their line rate? sm
Recently applied but worried they will offer a low line rate to begin. Do you know what their base rate is or does it vary based on test results and years of experience.
If so, do you know the range?

TIA:)
They did tell me the line rate..

Just wanted to hear from people who knew about them or had worked for them as to whether they are a good company to work for.

Well....about the line rate....sm
I was really offered what I felt like is going to be a good account, and this is only going to be part-time for me.  I'm hoping the work itself, i.e., surgery center, will make up for the line rate.  They were very accommodating on the actual amout of time I wanted to work per day, too.  I'm going to give it a try.  I have high hopes - we'll just see!
line pay, rate
these companies say excellent pay.  how do they feel right posting that?
What is their QA line rate?

Line Rate
I talked with a guy from the company today by phone, and according to what he told me, they pay on a tiered basis.  They start at 8 cpl for 10,000 lines and it increases from that point.  I don't remember the exact numbers and amounts after that point, so I won't quote him.  If you don't do 10,000 lines, then the rate is 7.5 cpl.  This is for full-time people on a day shift; the rate for second and third shift is different.  They don't want daytime part-timers, which is what I wanted.  In any event, for a university account I think the rate is on the low side.  I can make 8 cpl transcribing office work.  I'll keep looking.
