training new hires??
so you aren't paid hourly?
Any other new Webmedx hires? I start training (sm)

in about a week.  Am really excited and nervous. I realize no company is perfect, but this one seems to  have so many of the things I am looking for.

they did not come up first. An hour of training is not really training.
nm
Cymed? 2 weeks training no pay?
I read on the Cymed internet site that the 1st two weeks of training you dont get paid I think. Is this true?
First two weeks are hourly training pay (sm)

...so I wouldn't sweat it.  The minimum required is 150 lph, but they understand that you're new.  Once you're used to the system, build up some normals, and maybe take a productivity class or two, you'll be fine.

MDI-MD hires part-time, and you have a 24-hour window to do your quota. nm
x
MDI-MD hires statutory employes, 24-hour window, and good pay. nm

Good luck.

Never heard of them. I thought the 16 hours + 2 weeks of training
s
I think it is $12/hr and it was 4 hours + 1 hour training, 2 days. nm.
nm
My training was good. It was about an hour long and then I was sm
working. I love Keystrokes and I love the account I am on. Perhaps the account you were on had 2 ESL doctors come up first. The account I am on in first in, first out, so there are days that I get mostly ESLs and days that I get no ESLs.
I worked there for about 6 weeks and never once had a full 8-hour day of
work. Ended up working my scheduled days off to get my time in.
Can anyone tell me which companies other than the big one hires MTs for DQS and how are they to work
for.  Any opinions.  Nice to work for with decent work or not so much.
Are there any companies who hires entry-level MTs

Does anybody knows who hires entry-level MTs?

KG

What companies pay for training? TIA :) nm

Can anyone tell me if Future Net hires you as employee status or is it just IC? Any info on them? nm

I think you will find that not many companies pay training. sm
I have only been on one or two that do in the last 8 years. Most pay production from the beginning. I could be wrong, but I think this is the norm. Good luck.
Any info, recent new hires, long-term employees? ..sm

How do you like it? Are you productive on the platform? How is the pooling? Can ShortHand work on the system? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Some companies are constantly hiring and training; therefore

the old faithful MT's are left with the yuk so that the new MT's can be training on the not-so-yuky dictators, then comes along another MT to train, and on and on the cycle goes.

The company I am with stated 35 percent ESL's, but that is totally impossible, unless I am getting the whole 65 percent ESL's. There just does not seem to be any consistency with regards to work flow in pools. That is what I have observed. I guess I should get my own doctors/accounts in order to make that happen, right?

Most companies have a 2 week training period and if meeting
production and QA one can opt out of it early.
I asked about these 2 companies a couple of weeks ago, just not
about rad, and I was told to go with Keystrokes.   Both companies seem to have 90+% positive comments, though I have seen more with rad about KS.
What companies do have 24-hour TAT?

Which companies pay for QA by the hour? nm
nm
Anyone know of companies with a 24 hour TAT?
Looking for part time work.
Do any Companies pay VR by the hour? Would you

Please explain this to me.  I am not new and not naive, but I really would like someone, preferably an MTSO, to answer a simple question for me.

Why is it that QA, for most MTSOs, still get paid by the hour, but VR gets paid by the line?  Are they not basically the same thing?

Am I wrong?

Would you prefer a higher cpl for Editing VR or an hourly wage for Editing VR?

Before VR, the MT would type the report and leave blanks for words/phrases the MT could not understand.  Those already typed reports would go to QA so that another ear could try to decipher the blank and send a nearly 100% correct report to the client.  QA was always paid by the hour because the reports they worked on ranged from one blank to fill in and little listening to the voice file required, all the way to listening to the entire voice file and practically retyping the entire report for a newbie Transcriptionist or a totally unintelligible ESL dictator.   Now, doing VR, the “Editor” receives (supposedly) already typed reports.  The Editor then has to listen to the entire voice file, and sometimes there are very few changes, while at other times, the entire report gets thrown out and typed from scratch.

Also, I think VR is dangerous when paid by the line.  As every MT has been told since transcription began, “if you leave a blank, DO NOT leave a sounds-like word – just leave the blank.”  Everyone knows that if the Editor is not really paying close attention, the word typed on the page can look/sound “reasonable” when compared to what is heard because the suggestion is there that the word is correct.  If there is a list of Diagnoses or medications with no context of what symptoms and past history the patient has, it is very easy to assume what has been typed is correct, whereas, if no suggestion was made, the MT/Editor may hear something different.  There is not an MT on earth that has not raged against QA because QA changed something that the MT swore they heard right and typed right the first time.  I vividly recall nearly being fired for insubordination because I was livid with one QA.  It was an ESL dictator doing a discharge summary.  The patient was on over 20 different medications.  I heard and typed “q. day.”  The QA heard “q.d.”  The account specifics stated that “q. day” was to be typed as is, but “q.d.” was to be changed to “daily.”  No change in content, but I was assessed an error for each and every change QA made because of “not following account specifics.”  Do you think an Editor making 3 or 4 cents a line cares if the dictator is saying “q. day” or “q.d.” and will bother to change that, whether or not the account specifics requires verbatim transcription.  There are many words that sound similar that a tired or stressed Editor will skip over because it sounds/looks acceptable.  Unfortunately, there are also probably whole paragraphs that get little scrutiny because the Editor is trying to get their lines done to avoid losing benefits.  I would never say these Editors are trying to get paid for not doing their jobs, it is just physically difficult to concentrate for extended periods of time at the same intensity, and unintentional errors do get by.  Again, we have all probably run across finished reports in medical records with blatant errors that we swear would never get by us but which the MT who transcribed it felt they gave 100% of their effort and produced a 100% accurate report.  None of us intentionally would send back to a client a report full of errors, but it does happen.

If QA can be paid by the hour for doing the same thing, isn’t it more equitable to go back to paying MT/Editors by the hour?  The way things are now, everyone is stressed because they are afraid they won’t make enough lines to pay the bills or keep insurance.  Of course, there would be minimum editing lines per week, just like QA has to prevent Editors from taking their sweet time, but I think the MTSOs would benefit also because they would also have a more definite payroll month after month.   When I worked in-house and was paid by the hour, I never had that stress.  If I had a few really bad days with impossible ESL dictators, I knew it would not hurt me.  I guess I am not competitive, so I do not care if I type 400 lines an hour or edit 1000 lines an hour in order to make a $10 a day bonus.  I just want a decent paycheck that I can count on month after month.

What is your opinion?  Would you prefer a higher cpl for Editing VR or an hourly wage for Editing VR?

see inside for companies that pay QA per hour
Here are some that I know for sure pay by the hour; Probity, AllType, MxSecure, DTS America, Accel, New England Medical Transcription. There are more; I just can't think of them right now.
Some companies don't give that first check until 4 or 6 weeks have passed. Ck your contract. nm

Which companies offer a 12-hour window to
nm
Companies with 24-hour turnaround time

I know it has been has been posted here before, but I can't seem to find it. Is there a list of companies that have a 24-hour turnaround time for getting work back?

Also, a list of companies that use ExText or train on speech recognition? Thanks.

What companies offer a 12-hour window?

I would like to know what companies offer a 12-hour window.  I ask if anyone that knows of any will please let me know.

Thank you so much for your time,

Ada

Twelve-hour window companies (sm)

I know this has probably been asked before, but I'd like to know of some companies alow 8 hours of work within a 10- to 12-hour window?  I don't mind punching in and out, I just can't sit for 8 hours nonstop and produce like I need to.  I know other factors are important, but I think that's where I'm going to start this time.   BTW, no need to offer up MQ.  I work for them PT, just need a good FT right now.  Thanks!

Companies With No Line/Hour Commitment
Anyone know of companies that do not require a certain number of lines/hours per day or pay period.  I'm looking for a company that just needs help without a commitment.....maybe overflow, p.r.n. or fill-in work.   I work outside the home during the day and I recently had to give up a great company because of the daily line count.  Thanks!
Most companies go by the number of lines per hour,
adjusted for full-listens, etc. To try to go by the number of reports is idiotic. There are too many variables for that.
Anyone know of any companies that let you work within a 24 hour time window? sm

I am wondering if there are any companies that let you work anytime you want as long as you get your daily or weekly line count in?  Thanks....

I have many, many years experienced and was just told a little while back, even though I am an IC, that I have to have a set schedule...And I am struggling to follow the set schedule due to family illness....

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Any companies hire to transcribe with a 12 or 24 hour window
I am wondering if anyone can tell me of a reputable company who gives a window of like 12 to 24 hours to get your lines in (part-time), instead of an hourly schedule.  I'd sure appreciate if you'd share this info with me.  I've worked a long time in this business and I'm looking for something like that with flexibility.  I appreciate your help.
Are there any companies that allow you a 12-24 hour window to complete work?
x
Companies with flexible 12-hour window schedule
What companies offer a flexible schedule where your work can be completed within a 12-hour window?
Are there any companies with accounts requiring just 24-hour turnarounds/no set schedules?nm

old hires get double pay; new hires now get 4 cents more;
nm
Their training schedule kind of got backed up and so far the only training..(sm)
I've had is one short Bayscribe session. But I extended my 2 week notice at Medquist and I have until July 17 now to get some training in at MDI and do some reports to get familiar with the platforms. I'm looking forward to it!
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I can't say enough about their training team. Excellent training!
The people at Medware are all just great. I wish I would have joined the Medware family sooner! They are very flexible and caring!
do you mean company training or med transcription itself training?
nm
think, people! If she does 250 lines/hour, same docs daily, will make $15/hour
nm
100,000/year - no way. I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days - sm
AND I DO NOT CLEAR $100,000/YEAR.

what's not to believe - I said that I charge $35/hour and work 10 hour days AND DO NOT MAKE - sm
I DO NOT MAKE $100,000/YEAR

try READING the post.
I appreciate info on different companies...

There HAS to be SOMETHING to what they say about these companies.  If not, then why so many unhappy MTs?  Like another poster stated, deleting the posts from this forum does not delete it from our memories, and someone will be back on here complaining about the same or new things as long as they are not being heard by the company.  If it bothers ____'s management team so much, then maybe they should listen to their MTs and treat them with the respect that they deserve.  These MTSOs wouldn't be anywhere without its MTs, so why not try and make them happy.  I am so glad we have a forum like this to share our good/bad experiences.  You know the MTSOs can't stand it because they cannot take complete advantage of us, which is what most of the companies I have worked for tried to do to their MTs---as long as they are making their money off the sweat of our backs.  It seems like KS can dish out the misery but can't take it when people start talking about it...just my opinion.  Keep talking and sharing experiences, good and bad.  Maybe this forum and others will force them to do right by us, especially regarding compensation.  We have to work together and try to make the MT profession better.

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO NO MATTER WHO DOESN'T LIKE IT!!!

Anyone have recent experience with RI Unlimited, Inc.? I read the posts in the archives, but they’re back in ‘74. I appreciate any info. Also, what about MedQuest, LTS Inc., and C&C Transcription? I’m involved in testing for a job and have tested for all three.

Thanks so much!
