Focus Informatics
I have worked for them for 8 months now and don't have any complaints.  My pay is on time.  Yes, the management and tech guys are out of India and are a little hard to understand, but no one has been rude to me.  If I have a question, I instant message them and get a quick response.  The one negative I would have to say is that I do a lot of editing instead of typing.  I would like some more standard reports to do.  I am only part-time, so I do not depend upon my salary to pay the bills.  That is my only drawback with them.  I did have my check deducted a few times when I went below 99.0%, but just this last pay, I was a little under 99.0% accuracy and I wasn't deducted.  They may have changed that policy
Focus Informatics
Does anyone work for Focus Informatics?  I was just wanting to know a little about the company.
Focus informatics

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of Focus.  I thought I read a lot of negatives and problems with this company.  Anyone work for them?

Thanks!!

Focus Informatics
I have been working for FI for about 3 months and I have no complaints at all. The tech people and my supervisor are Indian and they have been very courteous and helpful. The training was a bit hard because it was rather difficult to understand the accents but they were very patient.

I love the work. It is a mixture of standard transcription and voice recognition editing. I think at first I ran out of work because they must have given me just one type of report until I got comfortable. Now that I do all types of reports there is always plenty of work.

So, thus far my experience has been a good one.
Focus Informatics

Can anybody give me some info on this company, the rates etc, heard the jobs are on escription platform. Thank you

Focus Informatics
If you do an archive search, you'll find my message regarding them. Yeah, they were a little lacksidasical with me. For reasons stated in that earlier message, I wouldn't rely on them for my sole income.--CTT
Focus Informatics

Focus Informatics.  Just accepted at PT Editor/Transcriptionist position with the company.  I do not know much about them by reading different blogs, so I was hoping someone could give me some feedback on how they are and if I made the right decision in acceptin a job position.  I have been transcribing medical records for 7+ years now.  Worked all of those years with a local based company here in S.C.  Looking to supplement my current work load as it is just not enough...any info on Focus Informations would be greatly appreciated

They purchased Focus Informatics.
Focus is Indian-owned and based in Woburn, MA just down the highway from Dictaphone. I was told the match was for labor and not particularly software save for the fact that Focus was and maybe still is an Escription provider as well when purchased and certainly gave Dictaphone the opportunity to get a look at that software as a vendor!
Any Focus Informatics employees out there?
I just started last night and I have a question about the platform. Does it take a long time for you to download jobs and also for F8 to open the audit software? I am wondering if it is my computer or the platform. I am not going to get a lot of editing done with how slow the program is. Thanks!
Any info on Focus Informatics would be appreciated... Thank you! nm

Focus Informatics - enough negative, want positive

Does anyone have anything GOOD to say about this company?  Please, I tend to look outside the box and would like to hear something positive on here.

Focus Informatics QC/Editor, any info on what this entails??? thanks.

Working for Focus
The latest issue with Focus is that the Indian Manager on this one account claims that p.o. is a JCAHO dangerous abbreviation and should be replaced by orally.  So far, I have not been able to verify this information.  But, the Indian QA took it upon themselves to give me points off for writing 25 mg p.o. instead of 25 mg orally just this past week.  I have issued a formal complaint with a request to see their references to this p.o. issue.  My point is, when it comes to details like this, it is very difficult to communicate with the Indian managers and/or QA department.
Working for a Vendor for FOCUS???
seems to me like you would be getting less money if you are subcontracting from a vendor for focus...
Anyone working for Focus Infomatics sm
I have been contacted about a QA position and it will be VR.  The pay per line seems fine and the benefits seem to be extremely affordable.  Any comments from anyone on this company?  TIA
Anyone hired in Focus Infomatics actually working?
I know I picked a popular schedule but thought that maybe my 2nd week in there might be charts. I am not able to flex every single day as I have another job. Anyone hired there in the last 2 weeks for a specific account actually working?
Honestly, I gained my first experience with Escription working for Focus. It was my first online job
So I stayed long enough to get comfortable and then moved on. It was a weird experience working with supervisors in India and the lack of communication but I never intended on staying. I bit the bullet, got my experience and left.
FOCUS - NOT A GREAT COMPANY
I worked for them. They treat employees terribly. Bad communication. The office staff is Indian and they have no respect for MTs. Glad to be out of there.
Focus is a great company!
I have worked for Focus for over a year now.  I have had NO problems with them. I always get work, I'm always paid on time, and they are always there to help you or even just to chat!!!   The company is based in MA and the tech support team is located in India.  SO WHAT!!!  If you truely want to find out about the company call them, email current employees and ask them questions.  DO NOT go off of what is on this site.  Most of these people are probably disgruntled ex-employees or else they probably couldn't handle the job!!!!  Having ESL dictators are part of the job, so it will be difficult for a while, heck even English speaking dictators are sometimes hard to understand until you get use to the dicatator.   The escription platform is sooooo easy!!  Focus is a great company and I believe that you would be happy working for them.  Any questions, feel free to contact me 8-}
Anyone know anything about an MT company called Focus Infomatics, Inc.?
They have seen my resume on the Internet and have asked me to apply there.  Any info, good or bad, would be appreciated.
What company just bought out Focus? I can't find it now. Thx. nm

First of all, the CEO of Focus is the same Indian guy who started the company... sm

He may have sold out to Nuance in March of 2007, but he still runs the show!  Second of all they are absolutely NOT bringing any accounts whatsoever back to the U.S.  That's just plain fabrication, deceit, lies, BS -- whatever you prefer to call it.  It just ain't true!  They just recently laid off the majority of the American QA staff and have forced the skeleton American crew they have left to go to production.

The lie that they are bringing work back to the U.S. was started and perpetuated in January of this year as a negotiating tactic to get the Indians to continue to work for peanuts instead of giving them more money.  When the Indians called their bluff, they hired a bunch of American QA people only to fire them at the end of April, beginning of May when the Indians caved.

And finally, they are an Indian run company and their QA and MT staff is 80% Indian.  I have the actual figures given to me by the Director of US Operations at Focus.  Focus employs 3800 Indians!  Does that sound like a U.S. company to you?

Oh, and the Director of Recruitment posted that 90% of their operation is in the U.S.!!!!!  He flat out lies.  He also says everyone laid off got a nice severance package.  Total BS!  Half of those laid off had to call the company and scream bloody murder when their checks were deposited as promised.  The other half will be calling tomorrow!

What company uses Dictaphone ExText (other than Focus)?

Focus infomatics... Good company to work for?

I am considering accepting a position with Focus infomatics.  Does anyone have information on this company? Their website is pretty impressive.  Any comments would very much be appreciated. Thanks.

US based company? Focus MTs US=925, India=3800.

Anirudh Baheti (an Indian) started the company and sold it to Nuance for 58 million dollars last year.

Just an FYI, Mr. Baheti also owns a company called Focus Care which is a service that recruitis Indian nurses, trains them to pass the US nursing boards, and then places them in US hospitals to work for a much lower wage than an American nurse earns.

Mr. Baheti also owns/owned a company called Focus Enterprises which deals in industrial tubes and pipes.

Tell me again how this is US based company?

Focus has always had a bad reputation as an Indian company to name a few issues
so my belief is that they include that so it sounds like a more creditable company. JMO
just typed Focus in search for box on Company board
nm
Focus doesn't offshore to India, they are an Indian company
that offshores to the U.S.  They have an office front in MA, I think.
he did not ask about working for another company
nm
we must be working 4 the same company
very cold shouldery there, always been that way - no big fuzzy welcome wagon. Emotionally u are pretty much on your own.
IC's working more than one company

Any IC's out there working for more than one company?  It seems that has happened to me obviously part time.  Do you like doing this, the variety or is it constantly confusting.

Are you currently working for such a company?
nm
Working for the company
I have certain days that I work, I have worked holidays but this is no different from years in the business, just part of MTing as it is a 24/7 job. This is a medical job. Nurses have to work holidays. I see no difference. I have certain hours that I work and if I ask to juggle around hours during that day, no problem on this end.
I am working for a company, only been
there about 7 or 8 weeks. Started out on a platform. The hospital account then upgraded this platform (ha) to a supposedly better version. Get it upgraded. The first day for the first 6 hours of my shift, they couldn't get the stupid program going. They finally get it going and spell check doesn't work right. Doesn't recognize medical words and won't let you add new words to the dictionary. This particular hospital has 2 sections. In order to get to the different section of the hospital to transcribe a report, you have to come all the way out of the system and log back on. You may have to log on and off 10, 15 times a day depending on what job comes to you. No rhyme or reason to the way it qeues jobs. Just randomly switches you back and forth, back and forth to the different areas of the hospital. I'm just about to go nuts. Working at Wal-Mart, McDonald's, cleaning commodes, anything, is looking better than this. Sorry for the long post. Just had to take a break and vent before I explode!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are working for such a company,
You should be able to find the form on the IRS website.
If I were you - I would rethink working for a company. sm
See if the hospital will allow you to work as a remote employee (from home). That would be your best bet.
Not an honest company. I was working
On a big hospital account they acquired, always working extra, putting up with all the problems, platform issues, downtime etc. - one day, went to log on and my user name/password were invalid. Couldn't get anyone to answer me from tech services, nor my supervisor, etc. - finally saw them posting advertisements for the hospital account I was working on stating no IC. It would have been nice if they would have done the admirable thing and TOLD us they were discontinuing IC on that account, rather than just rudely make our sign-in invalid. Thankfully I work as an IC for someone else too - I don't trust this business enough to work for just one company. But, out of all the companies I've dealt with or worked for, by far, Transcend was the worst. You might get 500 e-mails a day, then try to rach someone and get no response for a week. Tech support - that's a joke. You e-mail them with a problem and then sit not getting paid until one of them gets around to calling you. Don't waste your time or talent - there are other places. Just skip by this one ... believe me, you'll be thanking all of us later for telling you these stories. Oh, I did the VR training too - pitiful.
I think we are working for the same company on the same account.
I have a pillow-talking female dictator on my secondary account as well. Little to no work on my primary. It took 40 minutes to transcribe 36 lines with 16 blanks. E-mail me if you want.
I wonder if you're working for the same company as me - nm
x
185 lines? The company I'm working for wants 250......what is the average???? Anyone???
Thanks!
Going through the same thing. Wondered if you are working for the same company..
Can you give us a clue who you are talking about. I think it is who I also work for if their name just has initials. If it is, then I will tell you what a big part is...they are overhiring for the wrong accounts and acting desperate on other accounts. Ridiculous. Someone does not know how to organize the work flow.
I am working on Extext platform for another company
huge difference in line count, same type of reports, same hours. I can nearly double what I did there in the same amount of time. I don't know quite what the problem is but a lot of people have complained about it and we still haven't gotten an answer to our satisfaction. I have talked to people who left there and who posted their story here and elsewhere and they got a threatening letter from the company attorney. Absolutely no grounds for this, folks are just relating their experience.
Probably each company has their own rules, but when I was working in a hospital sm

generally, it was 7a-3p for first, 3p-11p for second, and 11p-7a for third, not including lunch breaks.

Hope this helps.

Why would you keep working for a company for 3 months without being paid? sm

I'm sorry this happened to you, but when the first month's check didn't arrive, that would have been it.  I still enjoy transcribing (most days) but not enough to do it for free.

Good luck to you in getting your money   That's an awful thing to happen to anyone.

Aren't you the one working for a company you hate? How
is that any different.   You're selling your soul to the devil, just like you say others are.  A job now will help you prepare for later so you aren't living under a bridge, revolting and quitting will guarantee you'll be living under that bridge, sooner rather than later.  I'm not saying so oh well such is life, but continue to work while you make other plans, either going to school or paying off debt, but to quit work, especially in a recession is not the right thing to do.  I believe in being self-sufficient, providing for the needs of my family, but if I quit either my kids go hungry or I depend on someone else to feed them and that is benig irresponsible.   I don't work for WMX now, I'm proud to say I'm an ex-webber, and my kids wouldn't go hungry tomorrow or even next month if I quit.  I sure wouldn't condemn someone for doing whatever it  takes to provide for their family.
Focus, focus, focus on your work. It's amazing what you can do! nm

12 cpl editing; 18 cpl transcribing - not working for a company, but a hospital. nm

I am no longer working there. I had enough of their crap. I found a much better company
nm
Every American MT should boycott working for any company that outsources! n/m
GRRRRR!
If you don't mind working for a completely Indian-run company
Been there, done that 3 years ago...never again.
A company/MTSO can offer an IC a job working certain hours
that they need coverage, and it's up to the IC to agree to working those hours, or not take the job.

If you hired an IC to repair your roof, would you want him working daylight hours, or since he's an IC can he work on the roof from midnite to 8 a.m. if he wants?
