Well, as you said, that's as an IC. I think we're talking about employees. nm

Well that depends on what VR software we are talking about. sm
Some are great, mostly accurate, and some suck the big one!
You missed something in my post. I was not talking about ICs only employees. nm
nm
Depends on # of employees if it applies. Also
Statutory employee is not the same as an employee. Statutory is basically an IC... no overtime at all.

It depends if you are employee or IC. Employees cannot hire sm
assistants. Most companies make you sign a confidentiality agreement, as do most hospitals and clinics. Those agreements should state (every one I have seen) that you will not let anyone have access to personal information or use your IDs. Letting someone listen is a direct violation. I read your post and went to the Privacy Manager at the hospital where I work to verify this before posting this response. She is our HIPAA specialist and told me that letting anyone listen or read a medical report is the same as telling them about it and a direct HIPAA violation.
I don't know what you're talking about

I think you're talking about
the company I just left, so here's my experience: Last August, we went from a very good program where I could do 250 to 300 lph WITHOUT Expanders to the DQS program WITH EXPANDERS, it's now ten months later, and I'm very, very fortunate to do 150 to 200 lph. I have 29 years of experience and am pretty quick...this is the number one reason I left...if you're going to DQS, expect to lose about 25% of your line count. I never could figure it out and never could get my PS interested enough to return my emails about it. Hope this helps.
Are you sure we're talking about the same
company? I wasn't aware of a rental fee, I know I don't pay one. I'm not sure where the job hopping came from....and I agree that you have the right to judge a company by what you read about it, but when you are reading good things why create a negative?
I know EXACTLY who you're talking about
hmmm?
I Believe I Know What Co. You're Talking About

If I'm right, it doesn't get better.  Ever.

Good luck!

You don't know what you're talking about
I never said I was leaving because of VR. I simply asked if anyone gave 2 weeks notice. I happen to have a job lined up with a hospital (no more MTSOs) earing in a week what I make at TT in a month. I would have left TT anyway for this job.
I think you're talking about Transhealth. NM
nm
Sounds like you're talking about
TranScam. That's not their real name, just their earned nickname.

It used to be hospitals would train people, but it's very expensive and time-consuming. I think your friend could find that only if she lived in India.
6 cpl - I hope you're talking about
editing, here.  You have 4 years' acute care experience and should be making at least 8 cpl.  IC should pay more since they don't have to pay benefits.  Check the job board out.  I'm sure you'll find something.
You have no idea what you're talking about. sm
Most MTSO's do not make a fortune. They barely make the money that they would be paid hourly if you put all the hours together that they do. I was sick of working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. I made good money on paper, about $150,000 a year, but that was working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That is about $23.00 an hour. I make more per hour as an MT and have evenings off, can play with my daughters, can eat hot meals without interruption. I work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day now and love it.

I could've afforded a yacht and a summer home and a lot of other things but I sure wouldn't have had time to use them or enjoy them. I spent too much time chasing MT's who did not do their jobs, had every excuse in the world as to why they did not meet their required lines, and making customers happy. No thank you. MTSO's can keep their wonderful lives. Mine is much better now.
Okay, then we're talking about a DIFFERENT 'CB'
I am CrankyBeach, sometimes (often) referred to as 'CB' on this board, by others (not by myself).

While I am certainly a cranky beach, I am nobody's supervisor, have not been anybody's supervisor EVER in the MT world, and I really don't even want a promotion... I've been there, done that (I was head of a billing department for many years), and I actually prefer being a minion. I've been at Transcend since April 1, 2009, when TRS was bought out. The only national companies I have ever worked for have been TRS and Transcend, which more or less amounts to the same thing.

So anybody named 'CB' who might have gotten a promotion in the latest merger is NOT me. Just trying to clarify the record....
It really depends on what you're looking for.

Not every company can be a perfect fit for every employee.  Not every employee is a perfect fit for every company.

Pros:  Pay was always on time, line count was correct, platform was easy, office staff and management personnel were friendly and caring, plenty of work with extra work available often, they provided equipment free of charge, pick your own schedule, change accounts if one was too difficult, they provided software and even Expander dictionaries.

Cons:  I sometimes could not dial in during my scheduled hours as others were using the dial-in lines to take advantage of the incentive and bonus pay or working beyond their scheduled hours.  Some of their accounts are pretty tough with ESLs, numerous dictators and short reports, but you can step down to easier accounts.  I didn't want to pay for unlimited long distance and tie up my phone line all day to work.  My personal life was also in an upheaval at the time.

Would I ever work for them again?  Yes.  Did the pros outweigh the cons?  Yes.  I certainly was not a "pet" either.

It all depends on which way you're looking at it. ;)x
x
It also depends on whether you're
paid on salary or cpl. Also, most companies have a schedule for QA as far as hours worked, but I know of one company who pays by salary and doesn't care how many hours their QA has to put in to get the work done which is not good.
Yes, you left out the fact that you don't know what you're talking about. sm
Keystrokes pays unemployment in every state that we have employees in (38 at this point).

Supply reference books? Supply fax machine? Yes. If someone cannot get something that will help them, the owner of Keystrokes always helps out.

My husband is a tradesman. He is an employee and is union. He has had to pay for his own tools, his own vehicle to and from work, his own clothes that are destroyed constantly, his own gas. Why should transcription be any different?

I have worked for Keystrokes for 5 years. I transcribe when needed, as many as 15,000 lines per pay period. I have had slow periods like everyone else.

Yes, I get paid a salary I earn in. If you want to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, filling in when transcriptionists call in or don't start their shift on time, giving up hot meals and nights out because a Transcriptionist cannot work their shift, then become management.

I have heard every excuse in the book. I have proofed work from experienced transcriptionists that look like a novice transcribed it. I have worked schedules around everyone's personal lives.

Think management is all fun and games? Think again. I make a good dollar because I earn it.
Wonder if who I'm thinking of is who you're talking about? That would explain a LOT. sm
This person gets away with so much, I don't know she's kept her job this long. Getting a timely response from her on even the smallest issue is impossible, and she always has an excuse for why she couldn't __________. And, she seems to lose her internet connection more than anybody I know, and it's always conveniently for a 3-day weekend. Or she'll take 9 days off to go to a 4-day convention. Or she'll take a long weekend and then conveniently be sick on her return day. I've never seen so many excuses. She gets away with it, though. It's not like she's even a good manager on the days she is around; she doesn't know anything about site profiles or have any client contacts. About all she does is forward emails from other managers who have taken the time to actually do their jobs.
Does any of this sound like your triple dipper?
I hope I don't get that account you're talking about either.
I am a little scared now.
You're right. You have no idea what I'm talking about. Typical. nm
djf;lkj;
You're probalby talking about Cardioscribes, right?

attempting to cover that is beyond me.  Everyone you deal with regarding the work flow is from India.  Try to call the owner and you're hooked into a call center.

actually it depends on which account you're on
x
think it depends on what platform they're on...which one are you using at JLG? nm
nm
depends on which platform you're on.
there are changes right now that people are not happy with. My platform is not included in those changes. Their pay is average, they have incentives, insurance is not good.
depends on how many specialties you're doing.
nm
They're going to treat you the same as all other employees
and you'll not get your way by threatening and stomping your feet. You hold no more weight than the rest of us with them. Just how expensive is it for YOU to type for MQ who is PAYING YOU? LOL
The latest large incentive they're talking about is...sm
for the BeyondTXT editing program and details were given to everyone working on that platform. Other incentives are for various accounts at various times and details are provided by the ROM for those accounts as those incentives are put into place. The holiday incentive is for everyone, MDI as well as Transcend employees. This is for 3 cpl for all lines transcribed on the 6 national holidays as long as you meet the criteria outlined in the policy. If you do not have a copy of this and would like to receive it, e-mail me and I'll be happy to send it to you.
Also depends on what office you're working under
Not sure how that's going to change after the buyout, but I've heard widely varying reports depending on region.
You're shocked and embarrassed that your employees
do a million lines per month?  Why, is that bad?  Should they be doing more lines, or should you be paying them more per line?  Wouldn't using Dragon Naturally Speaking get rid of a few of your employees?  It doesn't take nearly as long to edit as it does to type and proof.  Do your employees use text expanders?  What are you really asking here?  The gist of what I'm getting is that you want to make more money.
That's because you're an IC. For employees, NOT flexible. And no work. nm
no msg
I you're going to treat your employees poorly, you
.
Just hold on a second! You're the one who is on here acting superior and talking about weeding o

"bad" transcriptionists.  Can't help but wonder how good you are when you can't even form a complete sentence.

I love it when people get on here and criticize others' abilities and talk about bad Transcriptionist when their own posts are so sloppy.  I love the excuse, "I'm not working now."  I try to be literate whether I'm working or not.  I don't have to put on my "literacy hat" when I go to work.  I wear it all the time, and although I certainly understand typos and make my fair share of them, I don't understand how or why someone chooses not to be literate simply because they're not working but suddenly transforms into a competent, literate person when they are working.  I just don't get it.  I guess for some, literacy truly is WORK.

Like I said, everyone makes mistakes.  But the next time you sit up there on your pedestal, criticize others and talk about weeding out "bad" transcriptionists, you might want to proofread your own stuff so it doesn't come back to bite you in the butt.

Depends. If you're hourly, you acrue immediately!

again, you are wrong; depends on account; if you're doing demos, then
nm
Hope they're already told the employees at the hospital that they are out of a job. I don't t
they should post specifics like this.
Computter computer? Now what are you talking about? Honestly, you're like a nosy neighbor
budding into halfway thru a conversation! What are you talking about getting fired on a computer?  You are lame, girl!! We WERE having an adult conversation here. BusyMTing and I are understanding each other just fine! Go back outside and play with your friends!
I've easily done 600, but it depends on the way a company counts lines and it depends on the
dictators. Obviously, if you have a good share of ESL, there is no way you could ever do 600 or 700. On really difficult ones, I usually run around 400 lines an hour and I have been working on this platform for 3 years.
Oh for sure employees, but not too often for statutory employees. Sorry for confusion.

Attn: Any Transcend employees or former employees
I have been offered a job with Transcend, but I am not completely sure about it yet and I need some input from you guys.  I have read positives and negatives regarding this company but alot of it was pretty old information.  Can anyone give me some recent feedback on them?    Thanks very much!!!
Not talking about lines. Talking about what you actually

They have IC and employees, employees get benefits.
Good company. I am very happy there.
Does anyone like it at Precyse? New employees? old employees? nm

Hope you're enjoying those slave wages you're earning.

So you guys feel you're getting paid what you're worth with VR?
I'm not trying to be snarky. I've never done VR, so I'm trying to understand.

You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?
So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.
Not the OP, but they're supposed to take out all the other taxes as you're an employee with th

No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.

ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.

Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!

This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!
Hey, you're in luck then. They're hiring! (nm)
