I could not even get through the conversations to the real information on companies. I come here to be informed and to be supportive, but it has gotten tiring going through the constant redundant arguing. I almost gave coming here but it is part of my day. I just come here less now.

some of the posts and responses to posts here would make me snippy, condescending, and hateful too.
I worked for a company that stopped DD as JLG did. They
went belly up a short time later.  The company was local to JLG.   I didn't buy the bank instability crap that was being posted about JLG.  I personally don't know any details, but having been through a similar situation I would be VERY concerned. 
My thoughts on reading the board: MTs are mad as
about the dishonesty in this biz for very much longer. The healthcare industry as a whole (including MT) is way overdue for a major SHAKEOUT & HOUSECLEANING, and the more ticked-off MTs and ALL employees in, and users of, health care in this country are, the sooner it will begin to happen.
Just a few thoughts after reading this board today.....sm

After reading all the posts about recruiters, hiring on for more than one company at a time in order to weed out the undesirables, and ESL percentages at various companies, I have to say I am more than a little disappointed in some of the opinions rendered here.  I make no apologies for what I am about to say because I feel it is long overdue. 


Recruiters are hired to bring new talent into a company.  Yes, that is the way they make their living,  and yes,  there are probably some out there who grossly misrepresent their respective companies during the interview process.  However, there is no absolutely perfect job anywhere, be it as an MT or anything else.  My mother taught me from a very early age that we must accept the good with the bad and that the good generally outweighs the bad.  As long as you look for the bad in any situation, that is all you are going to find.  In the interview process,  it is up to you to ask questions, even worst-case-scenario questions, and make the determination of whether a company meets the majority of your needs and make a decision on whether to work for them.  Bear in mind, however,  that no one company is going to meet everyone's needs and please everyone, just as any one MT could fulfill the needs of a particular company with regard to skill set, dependability, production, etc.


For those of you who think you are beating the system by hiring on with multiple  companies to test drive them and decide which one to stay with....SHAME ON YOU!  I find this highly unethical and am appalled that anyone would even consider such a thing.  And if you think for a minute that your name won't be circulated in MTSO circles as an MT without scruples, you had better think again.  Many companies go to great expense to train MTs, ship equipment, process payroll paperwork and do other hiring process duties when hiring you.  Not only are you painting a very undesirable picture of MTs, you are causing our line rates to be decreased because of your wasteful attitudes because companies must either cut costs or raise prices to their clients and most companies would rather choose the former (cutting our line rates) over the latter because they would suffer greater loss by losing a big client than a few MTs who feel they are underpaid. 


As far as ESL percentages, ESL is here to stay, folks, and the sooner we learn to develop an ear for their accents and quit complaining about them, the better off we will be.  I have been an MT for almost 20 years now and I have found through my experiences at various companies that a good portion of the ESL dictators are more conscientious than a lot of the EFL dictators.  It probably does make a difference that I cut my teeth on 5 rather difficult ESL doctors as my first accounts when I got into this business, but I digress.  There are still ESL dictators who drive me to distraction, but through careful study and development of my ear, I  can usually figure them out.  Yes, it does slow me down, but I find that I have great satisfaction when I conquer a tough ESL.  I would just say to you to work hard on developing your ear and learn these ESL dictators, because this is the trend for the medical profession.


MT is a great profession of which I am proud to be a member.  It just plain disgusts me when I come here and read all the whining and conniving and complaining that goes on.  We are supposed to be professionals and professionals do not behave in the manner I have seen here.  If one wishes to effect a change in the MT industry, I would suggest that person make the necessary changes from within.  Otherwise, it is never going to happen.


I know I have probably insulted some sensitivities here so I will step down off my soapbox and let the chips fall where they may.

I see how everyone else is doing, and then I can set goals for me, though I am too shy to be on the goal board yet. I have to thank the board for that. It teaches me what is possible, and also that we can only do our best. I have to agree totally about how it has been a godsend.

I know that there are a lot of you out there who are owed money.  Some of you are owed LOTS of money and Deb just spends it on herself.  You'll likely NEVER get paid, but together you can all make sure she never runs an MTSO again.  But, what needs to happen is ALL MTs screwed out of their paychecks must come together for this to actually happen.  You all can email me at flagfootballcoach@gmail.com and we will pull together and bring down the hammer on this woman.  She has had too many different businesses, taken people for their hard earned money, and needs to be shut down for good.

Company reading boards

Boy do the companies read these boards and when they find out that you are asking any questions about them or should you post anything negative about them -- they zing you a good one.  Nothing like freedom of speech or expressing one's opinion.  


 


 


Well this is the first I'm reading of a company suing an MT, and
I have no idea what's even going on, but since I already spent time reading this whole thing, I'll throw my 2 cents in. IF the poster really did have the problems she claimed to have, then that's not defamation or libel. IF the company can prove she never had those problems and made it all up, then she may be in trouble, BUT if she can prove she really did have the problems she said, then she has nothing to worry about.

From reading this, it sounds like she said she had paycheck problems. If she can prove in court emails and phonecalls and her direct deposit being late, etc., where she really did have to deal with those paycheck problems, then I don't see where she has any worries, unless it never really happened.

The whole thing is pretty strange, and suing an MT for posting opinions on a forum where MTs post opinions about companies really doesn't make that company look very well in my opinion as an outsider reading all this.

Note to self: Transtech apparently sues employees... LOL.

Looks like I will be going to work in-house with an hourly wage. I love being home, but I can't afford to sit around and barley make a couple bucks a day. This is ridiculous! What's happening right now? Why are we all out of work. I have asked for more accounts, but low volumes across the board...

That really burns me because the contract was for aircraft for the UNITED STATES!

A military contract going to a foreign based manufacturer?

Even worse than that, TO THE FRENCH who couldn't lift a finger for us in our time of need and conveniently forget any assistance we have ever given them?!

I have no connection to Boeing and don't even know anyone who works for them but this is a HUGE slap in the face to them and all of the rest of us United States citizens, certainly a slap in the face and a kick to the groin for all of our men and women serving in the military.

And, yes, I do have many friends and family who have served or are serving in our military, including myself and my children.

The company board allows you to ask questions.  I just can't see recruiters having the time to frequent this board and answer questions.  Why not just contact the recruiter with questions.  You'll get a right from the horse's mouth answer as opposed to people scorn.  Everyone is different in their opinion.  I've seen people that love Meditech or hate it.  I've seen people that love Emdat and others that think it steals lines.  So, I'm not so sure an additional board with the expectation that job recruiters will frequent this site all day and night and provide answers (also not knowing if it really is a recruiter) will enhance this site.  It is what it is.  If you want to ask about a company, the ask away on the company board, that's what it's for.  Of course, this is all JMHO.

I was going to name the companies, but then decided not to for fear of losing jobs altogether. You know, word gets around, and this MT needs as many jobs as possible right now. So thanks for understanding about not putting on main board, this was meant to be put on company board. Tx

I think I know the one you're referring to.  This one is a big city hospital about 4 hours away from me so would have to relocate temporarily and then could come home and work.  I don't particularly like that aspect of it either and that would cause a hardship too.  I think hospitals are more rigid in their schedule requirements too. I know these type of jobs are far and few between and very coveted but I know I would not be happy having to work that shift.  Thanks for your responses.  I appreciate it more than you know.

I cannot believe that representatives from any company would come on to this or any other board
and call a poster a liar! My God, that is truly the most unprofessional thing ever. If this person worked for my company, they would be terminated before they could bat an eye! That KS thinks that this is acceptable makes my head hurt. The thing with these boards is that you pretty much have to just ignore what's being said about you. Every single company in this business has, or will have, something bad posted about them at some point. Ignore it and move on. By coming to the board to publically refute the allegations you are just lending credence to the issue and dragging it out. Not to mention looking like a classless, tactless idiot.

Question regarding company on job board
There is a company who posted on the job board for the second time.  I had applied the last time they were looking for MTs, and I was hired, or I thought I was hired.  I did work for her and she was a really nice person who seemed like she wanted to work with me and my schedule.  I had actually posted about her when I first started working for her saying how much I liked her.  I was paid promptly and we had a lot of email communication.  I didn't do much work for her but had told her that I would be available.  We communicated back and forth with me telling her I was available for more work, and she said she would contact me to do more work.  To make a long story short, I never heard back from her and now I see that she is posting again on the job board.  I wish she would have at least told me that she didn't like my work or that I didn't work out for whatever reason, but I never heard a word. I guess my question is do you think I should email her again and ask her if she would still consider me for the position or would you just let it go. 
Company Drama and the board
It seems to be that a daily drama has to be played out here.  I sure hope things cheer up around here soon. It's getting to be no fun. I am becoming wary that it is not just the MTs causing the drama, but certain places of employment are experiencing growing pains and becoming dramatic.  I am an MT who likes working at home to avoid the drama of the office.  I am an MT who likes a predictable day, a predictable yet challenging job.  For me all this drama is really getting to be a bit much. I don't know about you, but I sure hope that things calm down and a little less anxiety around here.  Have a nice weekend. I am because I am signing off this place and will only lurk to see if the drama queen companies and MTs have calmed down. Have a nice weekend folks.
