Does MQ have STATUTORY EMPLOYEES anymore under new plan

After I have spent money, time, trying to meet MQ's requisites for

the computer to type on their docuscribe, are they even going to have Statutory Employees?

If you are an employee, don't they provide the computer?

Why didn't they tell me this when I made the 20+ phones calls trying to meet their requirements - why couldn't they have said "we won't have statutory status anymore with the new plan"???????????

I'm just guessing there won't be statutory because nothing is mentioned about it in the letter from Barbato.

Has anyone been called yet about the new pay plan for MQ in regards to statutory employees.

do any companies hire statutory anymore? - nm

Oh for sure employees, but not too often for statutory employees. Sorry for confusion.

statutory employees

I have been with MQ since 1983 when they were still Transcriptions Limited (the good old days).  I don't know what they are doing and I wish I knew.  I am part-time 5000 lines a pay period but it only takes me two hours to do 500 lines so that works fine with me.  I am on disability and only work enough to supplement by SS.  Plus I cannot sit more than two hours at a time so it works out fine.  If they come up with this 4 hour minimum then I am in a heap of trouble.

I had someone from corporate call today to ask if I had gotten that letter about the new program.  At the time I told him no, but I think I did I just can't find it.  I have just gotten out of the hospital after a 12 day stay and can't even get my mind together to figure it out.

I don't like the sound of things but we will know in October according to this guy who called.

statutory employees

I was told today that we would know in October.

No, everybody there are statutory employees (SE) - nm
xx
former statutory employees can....sm

As I know it, if you were an SE and taxes were taken out, you can file for unemployment.....

Statutory employees.
nm
No, I don't think so, since we are Statutory Employees; however, call and ask to be sure. nm
s
who hires statutory employees -
This has probably been addressed before, but after reading a thread on the main board about IC tax hassles, I am just wondering if anyone hires statutory employees, so I can avoid the extra SE tax. Thanks in advance.
any companies still hiring statutory employees? nm
nm
You can't compare the two - MDI has only statutory employees and contractors
with no benefits. Transcend has full time employees with benefits. I would not believe everything you hear on this board with regard to pay. I make 8 cents per line with MDI, and I am just hoping I wont get a pay cut for benefits
MDI-MD hires statutory employees, full or part time. sm
Their web site is www.mditrans.com.  They pay well, always on time, direct deposit, and genuinely care about their employees.  Good luck!
Dont you find it interesting that MQ went right on advertising for statutory employees and hiring SE
people certainly having known for a long time that this was coming. I guess they figure a lot of people would not feel like switching companies so they screwed them also now they either become an employee or look again.
All KS MTs are employees, no ICs anymore. I have Aflac and regular insurance. sm
I chose the $500 deductible for the regular insurance and have Aflac for supplemental accident and disability, which is taken out pre-tax. I had Aflac through the hospital I was at and loved it. I was happy when Keystrokes started with them.
Because these companies no longer care about their employees anymore. nm

How is Transcend/MDI's medical insurance plan for employees?
Thanks
Don't worry just find out and then have a plan A and plan B
I have gone through something like this but not with that company. I too am the insurance provider for my family and there are preexisting conditions, so a private policy is no good.
First of all, I work elsewhere but had the same situation. I fell short of line count, but not because of me, because they did not have enough work, and I like many others cannot make quota because of the way they count lines. Then, on last paycheck there was a negative on insurance money taken out of check. I thought I lost insurance, but found out at the end of the year, they did an audit and found out that I overpaid all year and so I actually was owed money that check.
In the meantime, I found another job but have to wait 90 days for insurance. Can't find a policy to bridge the 2 jobs, insurance is on my mind all the time. My heart is with you. Personally I am getting the 90 day meds, working on my second job which will become my real job and if I lose the insurance, Cobra will kick in in case of disaster so that is like major medical.
Sorry such a long post, but I suggest: Not to panic. You probably did not lose insurance. Call the benefit provider to see you are still covered, not the employer. If you are not still covered, get 90 days of Rx if your plan covers by mail and be billed, immediately get another job which is a better place to work anyway (I found one) and in 90 days you will be okay. Some places like Disriter cover the first of the following month, but I would not necessarily suggest you work somewhere which is not so great just for insurance. You can consider TransTech. That would be my suggestion. Sorry for such a long post. But this hit a nerve and I wanted you to understand some options, as I have gone through it. Good Luck.
Attn: Any Transcend employees or former employees
I have been offered a job with Transcend, but I am not completely sure about it yet and I need some input from you guys.  I have read positives and negatives regarding this company but alot of it was pretty old information.  Can anyone give me some recent feedback on them?    Thanks very much!!!
If you are statutory they take out SS tax only. (sm)
In this instance they took everyout out but.
Statutory or IC?
Statutory is different than IC - I haven't seen much in the way of statutory, but I just had a job offer today, GOOD offer, too - from Oracle, and it's IC. I'm leery about going IC all the way, but then again - why not? There are no guarantees anywhere, and my husband says we do much better tax-break wise with IC than employee status.
Statutory or IC
Hey, I just had an offer from them today too.. Maybe we can chat? I didn't get my paperwork yet in email. Did you?
Statutory of IC
Oh I talked to her today and she is sending my paperwork, so if you had not accepted, then you probably wont' get any paperwork.
Which is better, statutory or IC
and why?
everybody is statutory.sm
Good company, sometimes too much work, sometimes not enough, just like everywhere else. Lanier accounts are pretty much like any other account, work is work.
Statutory?
If a company does not take out state income taxes does that mean the Transcriptionist is statutory?
mdi-md statutory
I am looking for the right web address for mdi-md of Maryland that hires statutory.  I only found a web site that comes up as trans-mdi (i think that was the right format) but anyway I just want to make sure of the correct address.  I have a feeling this website is the the correct one.  TIA.
Is it truly IC or statutory?

There is a difference.  Employers pay the SS tax on statutory employees; IC's are responsible for all the taxes.

I applied with 3 MTSOs not too long ago (about 4 months).  Two of them were statutory status and the other was employee status.  The 2 SE's offered me 9.5 and 9 cpl to start.  The ES offered me 8 cpl with benefits.

There are many things to consider besides just a starting cpl when choosing an MTSO.  For me, flexibility and reliability of work flow was more important than a little more per line.  I ended up with the MTSO that paid 9 cpl because I don't need the benefits.

I have seen some IC's on these boards say they make 11 cpl and up.  I think a lot of those IC's are truly IC's, contracted by local hospitals, etc.  I'm sure there are SE's that make that as well, I just don't know too many that start out at more than 10 cpl these days.

Statutory ?

What is statutary exactly?  They just take out FICA/Medicare, not federal or state and you still do a schedule C? I have to find another job as where I work now we just lost a big account with no notice.  Last day is tomorrow.

Statutory
The IRS website has good information about statutory versus IC.
Statutory
Nor Cal MT, we are statutory employees, not IC, and I think you spend too much time on this board putting out info that is not accurate.
Am I statutory or employee

I just recently started working for MQ.  Everyone is getting me confused.  First, I am emailed about a rental fee.  I called and told them I was an employee.  I got my first paycheck and they only took out state and federal taxes.  So, I am still as confused as they are.  I left 3 messages for payroll and 3 emails.  No answer as of yet.  Are they supposed to take out all taxes if I am a full time employee?  They only took out state and federal. Does this make a statutory?

Thanks for any infor.

I am a statutory employee and they take out sm
state, federal and Social Security. I didn't want to be botherered with the taxes and it was an option they could or I and I chose MQ to take the taxes.
Statutory status?
Can anyone tell me what companies offer statutory employee status? Any input appreciated! Thanks
They have just statutory status...nm

Statutory employee
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the companies who hire statutory employees? I would like the flexibility of an IC, but I would like the company to pay half the taxes for me. If you know how I could find out which companies work this way, please let me know! Thanks!!!

Statutory employee
By definition an independent contractor (IC) should not be told that he/she will work 8 hours or 2 hours straight on a schedule. You give them the schedule you prefer to work and they accept that or reject it. The operative word here is independent. Far too many companies try to not do the tax thing and still want control of the IC. The IRS does not like that!
you are an SE, statutory employee.

Never having been statutory, I have no idea. Best

They hire statutory. nm

They are IC/statutory employee so no
benefits, insurance, etc. Website is transmdi.com
Question on IC and statutory..
When it comes to taxes, is an IC and statutory the same as far as them not withholding any taxes meaning is there a tax that a statutory position might withhold but not IC?  Thank you very much.
Yes, they called it Statutory Employee or IC ... at least
that is what is says on my contract. ?????
Why do you have to work 40 hours if you are statutory? nm
x
are you full time or statutory?
how long you been with them?
Statutory Employee Status sm
Use Bayscribe platform.
I've been there over a year at 7.6 cpl (statutory)nm

Statutory employee. Work when you want

Statutory Employee Status
Please, can someone tell me if there are transcription companies that offer remote MTs employee status w/medical benefits.  Is there such a thing as a Statutory Employee and what does this entitle us to?
That always used to happen all the time at MQ when most of us were statutory.
.
do any companies still have statutory status?
and do they provide the computer or do you use your own?
