You make an hourly wage when you run out of work? sm

I am confused.  Is that right - you make an hourly wage when there is no work available?  How long has that been going on?  I have worked there for some time and have NEVER been paid for when there was no work.  Please explain.

What is their hourly wage?

I also did not know that they had editing.  QA position?

$8.75/hr nice hourly wage?
Yes, that is good for someone who is new to the biz, but if it takes 8 hours to review 2000 lines, that is only $8.75/hr. I don't think that is a nice hourly wage for experienced MTs. Many times the Editor may have no control over the TAT and oops! there goes that bonus. Quarterly bonuses cannot be counted upon as they are just that...bonuses.

Thanks for clarifying.
I discussed an hourly QA wage with them sm
a few years ago and when they sent the paperwork, they had substituted a RATE PER LINE for QA.  I called and told them they had made a mistake, they said that they had decided they would only pay by line.  I think they figured I wouldn't read the paperwork and just sign it.
I love QA, but I'd only do it for a good hourly wage that
nm
Diskriter pays hourly wage for downtime

they're the ones griping about making min wage
and barely making line counts

so they have the qa. so what? they don't have the production.

taking a low wage does not lower the pay for a field. The fact that they are offering stated wage
means that is the market. You don't see ads for McDonald's for $36/hour and you don't see ads for A.G. Edwards for $20,000/yr. If they didn't think they could fill a job for $14, they wouldn't post it. Notice MT jobs are now posting at 5, 6 and 6.5. So guess what editors are going to make?
Anybody work for NEMT?

Do they have a 24-hour window or do you provide a schedule? Also, is the pay still low? Do they ever offer bonuses of incentives?

TIA! :)

NEMT is currently hiring for clinic work...nm
nm
I don't work there, but with 34 years of experience, their starting wage was sm

just a little over 6 cpl.  I am amazed that companies get away with paying such low wages.  Good luck if you decide to go there.

They DON'T pay a decent wage or provide ample work.
They're sending it all to India. That's the point.
Our work is considered piecemeal and not subject to minimum wage laws. Just what I've been told
MT
They have created a new position that pays hourly. Anyone know what the hourly rate range is? NM
xx
A combo hourly/incentive or straight hourly rate based on
A platform where MTs have had major input in developing it.

10 annual days of PTO, at average hourly rate.

Affordable, decent health insurance.

QA done by very experienced high-level MTs, with open and respectful communication between QA and the MTs.
Wanna work for an hourly QA position?

1.  The reason it is hourly is so they can pay you on a 1980's pay scale.  It is nothing more than bait to use as an excuse to pay you less.

2.  Many hourly QAs tend to dump jobs they don't want for someone else to do the dirty work.  The high producers who care about their work end up doing most of the work.

3.  If you get paid by the line you make at least 50% more.  I left an hourly QA job about a month ago for one that pays by the line and I doubled my income within two weeks.  By working on the long jobs other QAs don't want, I make a lot of money.

4.  Hourly QAs make about half of what good MTs make.

5.  QA in general is one of the most thankless jobs around.  I left MT for QA so I could share my knowledge.  What a joke.  The MTs argue with you and never stop making the same mistakes.  Not only did I lose a lot of income, I hated coming to work every day to get the same reports from the same lazy MTs and then get nasty emails from the same MTs.  I got stuck with the jobs the other hourly QAs didn't know how to do or didn't want to do.  Why should they care?  They get paid no matter what.

Where do you live? The hospital I work for has two openings and they pay hourly, SM
but they require that you train in-house for at least the first 90 days (sometimes it is shorter/longer depending upon how quickly you pick up the nuances of the job) and you are required to come in for quarterly department meetings
If your hired at an hourly rate and you run out of work, then you dont get paid anything??
Just saying, you worked a total of 3 hours one day, ran out of work for two hours, then for that day you only get paid 3 hours? That would suck and it wont pay my bills.
oh and they have incentive if you type over where they add $$ to your hourly rate for all hours work
nm
Where do you work making all those lines?
nm
My company was making us work OT too. After about
3 months and many of us burned out big time they found a solution - send the work to India.  That worked great for a while until they saw $$, forget about how bad the work was, so they sent more work to India.  The client was lied to about the work going to India and were extremely unhappy with the quality of the work and my company last the account and I lost my job.

I'm making 9.5 for clinic work
nm
Any tricks on making your hours when there's no work? sm
If so, please share. Feel free to share tips on making your BILLS, too, when there's no income.

Seriously, do you work off hours to make up the difference?

thanks much.
Question re work/making up time/PT

For those who have run out of work, have you been required to make up the time during the same week or same pay period?  If you are PT, have you had to make up the time or is it optional?

Thanks.

If you're making yourself sick over no work

why not get another job instead of complaining about no work all the time? No job is worth getting stressed and sick over it.

Don't forget, TT is not the only company that has low/no work. Haven't you read the other posts on the other companies or do you just concentrate on putting TT down all the time?

Find another job, leave TT if it makes you so sick.

good people who all go to Hawaii while making you work every weekend. nm
....
YOu had a bad experience with Phoenix MedCom because you kept making so many errors that your work
couldn't stand on its own. They made threats because a doctor complained about your work week after week. They paid you experienced rates and it wasn't fair to others who could do the job without needing every single line proofed. Doctors refused to have you on their account and you almost cost them one. I am the QA person and I know who you are, and the unprofessional work that you did and your unprofessional behavior. Why malign a good company? Why not just accept it wasn't for you and walk away with some dignity. THey allowed you to do that. Leave them alone.Move on and see if there's somewhere out there that will accept your shoddy work.
Ok - here ya go. I went from making $1800 per pay period to making just under $900.
Is that significant enough for you? Believe us, we are not just being negative with a grudge or anything like that. This is real! A month later, I was gone from there fast!
Hourly?? Where does one get an hourly editing job?
I'm at 5 for VR/8.5 for straight typing.  I know we aren't to mention names, but I'm curious how hourly VR jobs are located.
I'm with them. Good work environment, easy accounts and I'm making really good money. nm

NEMT

Hello,

Does anyone have any info on NEMT aka New England Medical Transcription?  I'm a newbie and am considering them.  The pay is low but I really want to get some experience on my resume.  Besides the pay, are they good to work for?

Thanks in advance for you help,

Dede

NEMT
Yes, aside from the low pay, they are great to work for. Always had work and a steady paycheck. Nice people. Great place to get experience. Good Luck!!
NEMT
So how long ago did your friend have the bad experience with NEMT?  Just wondering since I was thinking of applying with them.  Thanks, Debbie
NEMT
I currently work for NEMT - and I think it is a very good company. They DO offer direct deposit, and pay is NEVER late. The cpl is not great (7-8 cpl), but the work is very easy and no stress.
NEMT
I currently work for them and would recommend them. The pay is between7-8 cpl but the convenience and ease of dictators ..... priceless
nemt
i currently work for them and I love it!  no pressure.  I can't say for the ortho accts though I work on clinic.  If you are able to get on with them you will appreciate that they don't bug you about the little stuff.  Just get the work back on time.  Pay is rather low but stable and I've never had a problem getting my money.  They have direct deposit.  Excellent company to work for..
NEMT

Let me say this was last year so it may be different now. You had to download the daily schedules with the demographic info. in them. (This was downloaded separately from the voice files). Then you had to  match the demographics up with each sound file and type it in the report.

NEMT
I worked for them briefly, about two weeks last year. There was no training. They use Winzip. The people were nice, but you had to download schedules, etc, so the demographics took lots of time.
NEMT
They use VPN. Then you go to their FTP and download PDF file, Word Document, and the zipped voice files. No training, lots of QA, nice people, low pay.
NEMT

Easy platform, pay always on time, low ESL, extremely nice owners, easy docs. The downside? Poor start-up instructions, my supervisor was nasty and didn't like questions, many days of no work available, re-recording quality very poor at best, and often work was 3+ hours late being loaded. This would be a very good job for someone looking for a very small salary on the side for supplementation. Very, very wonderful owners. I would recommend them overall.

NEMT
Easy platform, okay sound quality, very nice owners, low pay.
NEMT
I was NOT referring to them getting back to you I was referring to getting the download files -- if people would READ a post then maybe they would understand - I went from IE6 to IE7 with NO luck downloading the files and now have Mozilla --READ people
NEMT
Any info on benefits, schedule flexibility, etc?
Thanks in advance.
NEMT
Thank you for your replies. I HAVE to have health insurance so can rule this one out.
NEMT
I also tested with this company and heard nothing back.  I don't know how long it normally takes to get back to someone.  They send the test Friday, I did is Saturday and sent it back.
NEMT
Sorry, it should be they sent the test on Friday
NEMT
I tested with them twice a few years apart and neither time did I hear back from them. Very rude.
NEMT
I tested with them on Friday of last week and heard from them today with an offer of employment.
NEMT does (sm)
New England Medical Transcription pays weekly.  I believe they only hire ICs.
NEMT
Company and management are awesome. Management very flexible and understanding. Workload is good. sound quality great. Even have quarterly QA bonuses.
NEMT
If you do a search on here entering NEMT, you will find a lot of info. Seems to be a great company but with low pay.
