Yeah, I agree. I'm always amazed that EditScript actually seems to perform even better with the more difficult dictators. Not the mush mouths, but the ones who enunciate while talking 90 mph. Both of my account have some heavy-duty ESL dictators and EditScript deciphers them much better than my American-trained ear ever could, lol!

I really would like to work on this software. Can anyone share which companies use it. Please and thank you :-)
EditScript Help!
I am about to start working for a company that uses EditScript.  I need to know if a USB foot pedal will work with it.  When I looked at the foot pedal they said I have to have, I have the same exact one except it is USB.  Does anybody know if this will work?  I really don't have the money to spend on a new foot pedal, and I use a laptop for work that doesn't even have a 9-pin serial port.

Thank you in advance!

Sten-tel in Mass. does too
Editscript does.

I'm on EditScript with VR
and you can use the pedal just like normal. That part is okay. I hate it, though. As someone else stated, it is boring and I agree that sometimes you spend more time fixing the mistakes you could type it faster.
EditScript

Does anyone have any feedback on EditScript?  I love the concept of the program but the company I work for just started on it about a month ago so therefore all clinics are not on EditScript yet.  My problem is that I am having to sit and monitor my computer all day to see if anything has been put on there.  Also, probably within the next few weeks, editing will go to half pay which means I am not going to be making anything because of down time.  Any comments good or bad on EditScript hopefully will make me feel better or make me realize that, yes I do need to look for something else.

Thanks.

EditScript pay. SM

Do the owners (Dictaphone) of Escription set the pay rate for editing?  Seems like every company using this platform is only willing to pay 4 cpl.  Just wondering where this magic number was drawn from.

Who uses EditScript?
Just wondering if you could shoot me some names of any company you're familiar with who uses EditScript (Escription).  Thanks in advance!  Becky

Can you tell me how to exit out of edit script??? thanks

Is there anyone who can give me the name of one or two companies who use the EditScript platform?  I currently work using the DP EXText Speech platform and find it to be very sluggish and inaccurate.  I want to be cautious in applying to companies because I don't want to get into a worse situation.  Thanks to anyone who can respond!

I do VR and have on and off for about five years on various platforms. I prefer Escription/EditScript for VR because it is user friendly and not cluttered with features you don't need. My preference though on this platform is version 6. There is a new version 8 that I tried recently and didn't like as well, though I could at least use it on my laptop which is Vista.

Losing the mouse, as mentioned, is or has been the key to my increasing productivity. I made myself learn a few new shortcuts a day, and once I didn't have to think twice about those shortcuts, I moved on to the next few. I finally just tossed the mouse aside one day and made myself get through a few files without it. It was rather uncomfortable at first, but I really got used to it quicker than I imagined I would. By the end of my shift, I was doing quite well. It forced me to learn shortcuts I wasn't already using.

As for productivity with my paws off the mouse, it quickly doubled and then I challenged myself to triple it. That happened much quicker than I thought it would, within a couple weeks actually.

I think one of the best paying companies for VR is Focus Infomatics. They pay up to 5 cpl for midnights, 4 I think for second shift. The typical is 3 cpl which kind of sucks. I mean, you still have to listen to the whole file, so I feel the rate needs to go up.

In five years, I've already developed a repetitive use problem in my arm, so VR is really all I can do without pain. I find it so much less stressful and tiresome. I have twice the energy after my shift that I had when doing traditional transcription, and I am nowhere near as mentally stressed.

Seems people either love or hate it; I love it.

Good luck.

DIT EditScript

I'm pondering trying this editing thing out rather than straight typing.  Anyone out there work for DIT doing this?  Is it difficult?  I've transcribed for many, many years and am thinking of learning something different.  Good idea?

What companies use EditScript?

I like the platform and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any other companies that use it.

Thanks!

USB DOES work with EditScript
If you have a RadioShack USB adapter for your footpedal, set the com port in Control Panel AND in EditScript to COM4.

All other USB footpedals, you have to set COM to 5 or higher. You have to set it in control panel, then set it in EditScript and see if it works. When you find the right com port, it will stay that way.

I use USB all the time with EditScript. Listening in a separate program while transcribing in EditScript is ridiculous ! You lose a lot of the editing features available to help with productivity by not using EditScript.
USB pedal and EditScript
Hmmm, I was just told that USB will not work and that I need the 9-pin adapter.  How is it you're able to use your USB pedal I wonder???
Editscript is a web platform
Don't think it matters if you have word. I think the only thing your computer needs is internet access.
EditScript Questions

Will Word 2002 work with EditScript?  I hear you need some adapter for a USB foot pedal to play EditScript files?  Where do you get this and what's the name of the adapter?

What kind of voice files does EditScript use?  Are they .wav format or what?  If the files are in a .wav or .dds format for example, I have other players on my PC that will play those file formats, which would negate the need for the adapter.

Google EditScript.

Breitner/ Editscript
Anyone currently work for Breitner on Editscript? If so, can you comment on the pay and earnings potential? Any CURRENT info is greatly appreciated.
EditScript/Escription
Hi there,

I used to work for Focus. The platform of escription/editscript is good as a whole (as far as Speech recognition goes anyway). It learns better and faster than most others. I've moved on from there, and now work in an ASR platform that is horrid, doesnt want to learn, and does nothing with the formatting....

I'd say though, that if there is no work, then you make no money, and no money means no reason to sit in the seat. Find another company is my suggestion. Where I am there is good TX work with a nice mix of asr and they pay 65% of your base rate for the ASR which is good.

Email me if you want to know where I am, and you can use me as a reference if you like.

They can manipulate Editscript
Editscript can be manipulated by managers to give MTs certain speakers, certain clinics and certain work types, etc. My manager even as much as told me so. I believe they can manipulate line counts too by possibly deleting jobs and lines of course wth the jobs. I have mysteriously lost lines before. In fact, I began losing those lines on Editscript after getting well aquainted with the account and my line count had started to climb. Once I was even told that I had been overpaid by $150.00 and that much would be deducted from my next paycheck. I had already written down my line count and I expected to get exactly what I got paid. After being told I had been over paid, I checked my line count and it was short. No explanation other than manipulation on the management side. It is really not fair.
Editscript hiring anyone?
Can someone tell me please someplace that might be hiring for Editscript work (other than the evil focus monster I try to escape). I've worked for a few and they have all been horrible. I've been an ES QC Lead for some time but if I have to MT I'll do it to get the foot in the proverbial door.

Please let me know anyone. And if a company happens to come on here and they need a good QC who can do full reads on 4000+ lines per shift give me a buzz too.
EditScript companies
Hi SS,

I was wondering if you would mind telling me the company you work on EditScript for? I'm not seriously job-hunting now, so not to worry that I'd be competition for work flow (seriously, I usually won't tell people where I work for because of that), but I'm keeping my eyes open about EditScript companies, in particular, for the future, in case I ever need/have to go to VR.

And if you happen to be familiar with any of these companies that use (or at least used to use; my list is pretty old) EditScript that might not be so far towards the really bad end of the spectrum, could you let me know which ones you might (even if only barely) recommend?

The only ones eScription shows on its site now are these 6 (used to be 11): DeVenture, MDI/Transcend (Georgia), Proveros, Sten-Tel, Superior Global Solutions, and TTS (Transcription, Technology, & Support)

I also have on my list, from various other sources: Accustat Carolinas, AlphaMed Solutions, Central Transcription Services, Chase, DIT, Focus, Lee Perfect, Medical Ink, Milner, MVTS, On Point, QT Medical, Spryance, and Superior Global Solutions

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks,
mtfatigue

Any TT MTs on eScription/EditScript. sm
I am wondering if this platform has the problems with locking up your computer that ExText does. I have to reboot once a night, and I am looking for a better platform.
Will Shorthand 9.02 work with Editscript?sm
I read where ShortHand 8 will, but not sure about 9.2.  Instant Text sure doesn't.
Editscript/Transcription Production
To those of you who both edit with Editscript 80% to 85% and transcribe 15% to 20%, what is your average 8-hour line count? This would be on primarily STATS, Op reports and ER. Thanks!
Help w/ EditScript and deleting MS Works!
I have done everything I can think of to get MS Works off my computer. It has been uninstalled, registries have been cleared and I ran a search to see if anything was left. Nothing left. But everytime I try to download EditScript it says it is still detecting it! Where could it be? Where is it finding it! I am so frustrated. If you have ANY idea of what to do please let me know!
EditScript/escription is fantastic. nm

Which companies use EditScript? and are they hiring? nm

Editscript, can you run this on your computer with 2 different companies? nm

I started on Editscript and still work on
Editscript now two years later. That pay rate is a slap in the face to you and an insult to the rest of us. I certainly can't tell you what to do, but I can assure you that you will not make any money at that line rate. At the end of a very long day, you will be lucky to have made $15.00. I would not start for less than 4 cpl minimum and that only works out if you are fast and rack up a lot of lines daily, which will take a while.
Editscript tips and shortcuts?
Does anyone have any tips and/or shortcuts for increasing productivity on escription's editscript software?  Any assistance appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
Is Dictaphone ExSpeech same as EditScript?

If so, since I have ExText already on my computer, will they have to dowload their version and do you know if it will interefere with my software I am already working on. I know I should be asking the company this, but just curious.   Also, which is the best ExSpeech or EditScript.  They say I will make 5 cpl for editing. I have never done editing before.  Been transcribing 30 plus years.  Though I would try ASR to break the monotomy and hopefully get out this slump I'm in.

ExSpeech and EditScript are 2 different platforms -- sm
but both are owned by Dictaphone as they bought Escription. Who is offering 5 cpl for editing on EditScript? Most companies are only offering 4.

EditScript 8-speed tips?

I recently started VR editing in Editscript 8.  Im using the alt-k and alt-shift-k options...slowly.  LOL  What seems to slow me up is adding in commas and such, which those options don't seem to help with.  Anyhow, after three days I am at a blinding speed of something like 220 lines an hour.

Anybody have any tips to increase ease and speed, or does it just take time, or does it never happen!

I use Editscript (Escription) and love it

EditScript and lower rate
I don't understand how you can think it's all right for a company to pay less because the VR system is good. Shouldn't it be a given that a company would have the best system they can find and not dock you? Seems like they are paying for having that system on your back and you think that's OK. That is really, really sad.

I happen to use EditScript (or Escription) and think it is an excellent program, though still prone to humorous errors. I make 4 cents a line for VR and wouldn't mind making more.
Is the Mark job (editscript) one of the Focus jobs?
where you can only do 5 reports a day and all that stuff?  one of the small ones that focus farms out to?
Anybody here on escription/editscript with Focus Infomatics?
Are you paid for all lines on this platform? Is it pretty easy to make good money?
How much are you guys producing with EditScript/Escription?
How long does it take to get up to production if you've never used ASR before?
Yes....some accounts use Editscript 8 and a USB foot pedal...nm
