Love Emdat
I love Emdat and really surprised who wouldn't? It's so fast and easy and great line count.
love EMDAT
I've worked on it for three years and love it.  I didn't in the beginning.  I've been told on here in the past that the reason is that I haven't worked on more sophisticated platforms.  Prior to this I had worked on DocQScribe and thought it was the one and only.  Hated EMDAT at first and within two weeks thought it was great.  You have to learn it and not make comparisons.  It's true I have ONLY worked three different platforms in 12 years because I don't switch jobs.  That could be the problem with some.  For whatever reason they have quit the job prior to the one with the EMDAT platform.  I have used EMDAT itself as it's own expander.  I have thousands of shortcuts built in.  Now.   Be sure to back up.  Tech support has always been great with me.  Now that I'm established, however, I haven't even needed them since about three months maybe after beginning on the platform.  I average about 300 LPH and often get 325-400 with macros.   With my particular company, the screen is already filled in when I start and that helps Greatly.  I have two lines on a job before I even begin it.  Let me know if I can help you in any way.  My hardest part was getting my pedal connected and that was because I try to make everything way more complicated than it is.  It was already set up and I was setting it and unsetting it.
Do you love, like, hate your job?
I was an MT for years and have been out of it for a year because I was offered a position in my husband's company, but I am considering working as an MT again.  I loved the freedom and the pay was pretty good.  I was just wondering how many people actually ENJOY their jobs currently.  Thanks.
love/hate my job
Love my job but hate having no life because of it. Work on 3 feast or famine accounts, so i basically HAVE to work 7 days a week to make ends meet. No paid time off. Very frustrated right now.
Some love it and some hate it. I guess it all
depends on what platform you are using. Most VR will eventually learn, and you will be teaching it by correct the errors, although it seems to take a while. If you are on an account that is new to VR it can be quite frustrating, it seems like you are stopping every sentence to fix errors. However eventually it will learn and become less burdensome. Once it does you can speed up the voice and get through the reports fairly quickly correcting less errors. The down side is you are paid less, so you have to make those lines up in your production. On the positive side, a lot of people think it really helps with the wrists. Again, it all depends on the platform and account you are working on.
Isn't any job a love/hate relationship
We have to work to provide for ourselves and our family, yet there will always be days when you'd rather not and this applies to on-site or off.  In any event, when you work at home, it gives you some flexibility.  I take advantage of the flexibility as I see fit.  I am an IC.  If I do not work, I do not make any money.  I am also not someone's go-to person.  I do my work and then find time for fun.  No one should assume that all work-at-home people are not productive or have excuses not to work.  That is just not a fair statement.
I have a love/hate relationship with IM.

We have to run the MSN instant messenger for work and with that, yes you can save messages.  You can find that under the tool menu (how appropriate!) and then under options and just check off the right box.

I'm really bad about forgetting to mark myself as be right back whever I run to the potty or take a break and then come back to find a message or two looking for me to type up a stat, because then I wind up looking like a tard who is just ignoring my bosses.  Of course, they know me, and they know I'm a tard, so I guess it all works out.

Works both ways though...they can find me just as easily as I can find them, and sometimes that comes in awfully handy.  Sometimes not.  Okay, mostly not, but I digress...

Don't hate it/love it, it's no worse sm
than anything else I've worked on.  The new version is better because of the keyboard controls, but I'm not in love with that either.
Is it MedQuist? Love DQS -- Hate MQ!

I had good line counts with it.  It was very easy to use and had a ton of shortcuts.  I really don't have any complaints.  I used the Expander that comes with it, so I didn't have to worry about compatibility issues.  I've never worked on Escription, so I can't comment on how it compares.

I really hope this isn't with MQ, though.  Read their latest posts -- no work.

I work on that Emdat program and love it

Love my platform...hate the company
I currently work for DSG and love DocQscribe.
I agree. Hate Transcend but love Robert..nm
nm
Looks like a love/hate relationship if you Google them using the box on this page. nm

Love VR and hate to do straight typing anymore
My work is a combination of both VR and straight, VR about 85% of daily work. I never retype any sentence much less a paragraph when it is VR. I think a person only has to do that with a particular bad platform. Escription is excellent VR.
love/hate MT, mostly love it :)
i've long been dismayed with the direction in which this profession has gone, and i agree with the person who posted that women have accepted substandard wages and/or unfair IC or employment situations. It's very sad to see how, when outsourcing became the norm, women did not adequately negotiate to, you know, pay their bills!!! It seems this has resulted in lots of undercutting and lower line rates for everyone. I see some companies slowly improving and not requiring crazy line counts and hours in exchange for paying into health insurance. i entered this profession as a single female. i married an engineer and was living mighty comfy and cushy and happily doing 4 hours at 11 cpl in the late 90s. didn't have to worry about not having bennies at all. now as a single mom with a young child, i truly struggle. but i do love my work and hold out for my specialty to keep the line count up. still, i see the glaring problems and it's just a shame. if there were an MT union, i'd join in a heartbeat. no time/energy to start one and be some kind of norma rae, though!

Ah, yes, a love/hate thing indeed!

Best to all of you wonderful mts, male and female :)
That's good news. I love Keystrokes, and I hate to think of them selling. sm
The people are great, and I truly feel that I have finally found a home.  Still, business is business.  I have a friend who has been with Transcend for years and is very happy there, but I want no part of it.  I plan on working until I'm 70, so I'm crossing my fingers that the bottom does fall out for me before then.
GOOD GRIEF -Love my company/account, Hate MedRite! Any help?
I love the company I work for, pay, schedule, account.  It has it all.  But they use MedRite.  This is awful!  Was this actually designed for an MT?  This is complicated, SO much mouse-clicking, and so SLOOOW - I am boring myself to sleep.  Typing is easy and quick but moving from report to report - Good Grief!  Is there anyone who has used this?  Are there any tips you could give me?
LOVE Bayscribe, HATE MedRite! MedRite when I used it was slow sm

and cumbersome -- would type and wait for it to catch up!  Plus it had some annoying thing where if you were gone too long, a pop up window came up and you had to explain why you were gone.  Bayscribe is fast, smooth, user friendly, and at the end of each report you can see how many lines you did and how much money you made, for that report and for the total day.

Good luck to you whatever you decide!

Hired by Emdat or using Emdat software?
I was of the impression that Emdat was software, not a transcription company. Were you hired by Emdat to do transcription for Emdat customers? Or is the company for whom you work just using the Emdat software? Thank you.
Love, love, love TransTech! Not overhiring, just growing like crazy!

I too love path & can't find it at home & would love to cross-train into rad in the meantime I do

Love this company, love my boss, very informative QA.nm.

Emdat
I've never used Netcare, but Emdat is great!  Easy to learn, easy to use.  I honestly have no complaints about it.
emdat
oh thank God! I thought it was just me. I worked for a half-day or so on a trial basis for a company using this platform several years ago and i never got how it could NOT stink!! I though it was because they send IMs every two seconds about the weather........but I spent more time on that platform trying to get it to work than I ever did transcribing anything.
Im so glad it was not just me. Emdat - never, ever again.
7 cpl on Emdat
In defense of Allegiant, this is without a doubt the PERFECT job for me. I work whenever I feel like it, nobody bothers me, and I'm only obligated to transcribe 500 lines in 24 hours.

I worked for a large company and made 10 cpl. I had constant interruptions with emails and IMs from an idiot supervisor. I had to research new drug names and instruments and procedure names on just about every report. I was tickled if I transcribed 150 lph. I worked for a smaller company and made 9 cpl and spent half my time with my foot on the backup pedal trying to understand ESLs. By the time my shift was over my head was splitting. I work for Allegiant, make 7 cpl and average 250 lph without breaking a sweat. Not too shabby. JMHO.
What is Emdat? (sm)
Please, what is Emdat?  Also are you limited to transcribing 500 lines per day or can you do as much as you want?  Thanks.
7 cpl on EMDAT

We pay significantly more than that at Lee Perfect.  If you have 5+ yrs exp in a clinical/hospital setting that is current/recent.  I would love to see your resume!!!!

Not a fan of EMDAT

I had the same problem.  I cannot stand typing using the F1 function keys.  I would call technical support where you purchased the foot pedal from and tell them your problems.  If the foot pedal does not work on your computer then get your money back.  I cannot stand EMDAT.

Former EMDAT user.

EMDAT
Lee Perfect out of Chicago and Allegiant out of Indiana use EMDAT religiously.  Apply there.  They are ALWAYS hiring!!!!!!!!!!!!
EMDAT
I know that Greenlight Transcription out of Oregon does, Phoenix Medcom, and Allegiant. All three are good companies and they always pay on time every time!
EMDAT
EMDAT is a platform that MTs use to type notes. It is very user friendly, but you have to set up your own auto correct. Your regualr auto correct from MS Word will not work, which I did not like at all. You have to purchase a separate foot pedal from the other USB pedals and it costs right at $100.00. Good luck!
EMDAT

The owner makes excuses as to why she has not done this or that.  Some like it, but her pay is very low and no feedback for QA.  I think you only get paid if she does by her clients.  Do not know for sure though.

Emdat
Can anyone tell me about Emdat? I have an IN-DB9 pedal.  Is that compatible?  Thanks in advance!
Emdat
Not true.  I worked for a company using Emdat for a short time and I did not have to buy a special pedal.  I used my USB pedal, the same pedal I have used for numerous jobs.  However, I personally did not care for Emdat.  It conflicted with my version of Word.
Emdat
You might want to try Professional Dictation Associates (I think that is the name of the company). They pay over 8 cents off QA but why you would want to work on an Emdat system is beyond me. I hate it. I think that is one of the worst VPN ever, but that's just me. I know there are MTs out there who like it. I'm just not one of those.
EMDAT
Can anyone tell me how EMDAT is to work with? PC requirements, foot pedal, etc?  Thanks!
I like Emdat
I've been working on it for about two years now - no real problems, very user friendly.
Emdat?
I find your post interesting because I am a fairly new MT and Emdat is all I have ever known.  What do you feel is bad about it and what platforms do you like better? I'm really curious.  I feel like I've got it pretty good, but if there's something better, I would love to check into another opportunity.
EmDat

I was offered a job using EmDat and have never used that before.  Is it a good platform and easy to use?  Can you get your line counts okay on this or does it slow you down.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

EMDAT
This is a great platform IMO! I found it very easy to use and very, very easy to get my lines in and then some! The only down side (if you want to look at it that way) is that for most companies now a days you have to have a special EMDAT only foot pedal to work with them instead of the old school use it with Express Scribe and multiplatform foot pedal. Good luck!
emdat

I am having trouble too but what area are you in.  Comcast has a major outage in Pennsylvania, part of Delaware and part of New Jersey.

Emdat
Emdat is not very good when you have fast speakers. You are not able to control the speed at all.
EMDAT
You most certainly can control the speed with EMDAT.  You must not have the correct version or something.

EMDAT
Zylomed uses Emdat.
EMDAT
They use EMDAT, which I think is a decent platform.
Emdat
The spell check sucks.  it is NOT MT Friendly and the line rates do NOT add up at all.  I hate it.
emdat
You need to download the program. You do not need a special foot pedal anymore. I have been using this for almost a year now, and both of my pedals work with no delay (settings). My sound is just fine and I can adjust easily. The spellcheck does stink though.
Emdat
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  I have been working on the Emdat platform for over 6 years now with 4 different companies.  I have never used a foot pedal.  I use the function keys, F2 to start and stop, F3 to fast forward and F4 to rewind.  Piece of cake.  Very user friendly program.
EMDAT
I disagree. I found/find EMDAT to be very user/MT friendly. I make my line counts very easily. I worked for a company making 2 cpl more using another platform than in my EMDAT job, but made more money per hour ($3 more per hour) at my lower paying EMDAT company. I hope this helps:)
