If you knew the real reason she is gone you might be glad she's gone
if its the same person I am thinking of, who got fired about a month ago.
What is not understood is that is that OVER AND ABOVE
throughout the day.  And NO she never said that at all.  For goodness sakes, if she had answered that one question without cryptic I start here and do this and then do that and come back and do more when it is available.  That doesn't say if she worked more than 8 hours total or not.
She understood?
nm
I never understood why anyone would

pay a company to work for them.  Shouldn't it be the other way around?  There are tons of companies out there that don't require you to use their computer and who do not charge for the foot pedal, software, etc.

I understood what you were saying. s/m
Very few things make me more angry than people who bend over backwards to not do what they don't want to do. I always say to cherrypickers: If *you* don't want to type a certain report what makes you think *I* want to do it? I know I'm flexible because whatever comes across my screen is what I've been hired to do. Reminds me of an op that I was privileged to get to do the other day, a quintuple bypass with the worst ESL I've heard in years. I think God Himself would have had a hard time understanding him. Obviously someone was HAPPY they didn't do it because the DT was way out of sequence. It took me exactly 1-1/2 hours to complete the sucker and when I was finished it looked like swiss cheese. I was at the end of my shift but when I heard it I wasn't about to sign on off and leave it for someone else. That being said, I do believe I can call myself flexible. For all I know Ms. Bend Over Backwards Happy may have been the one who skipped over it. And speaking of which...cherry pickers can cherry pick in so many ways that no company can do anything about it. I'd like to wring their necks right off one and all!!!!!
Understood - i'd go over her head. SM
I agree that different STMs manage their work differently but I'd sure talk to someone higher up. There's no reason for one MT to run out when others are inundated.
Not sure if you understood financially I am not able to
switch careers. Bless you if you have enough money to do that for yourself.

Luckily, I am not one of these people who does not have a good job, I do, but whatever the reasons, mainly greed in my opinion, I am losing a lot of benefits and money steadily.

if you want to blame the MTs that is fine but one thing I have never understood is managements lack of ability to well manage. when I was in management people were not qualified never even got positions so not sure who is to blame really. why do all these (yours words) shoddy MTs get hired. Management is an art, and companies that let this go on just so they get their work typed - I do not think a lot of them really care how it gets done. Now I am speaking of the bigger companies. they pawn off any conscience they have on the MT making us solely responsible for caring for the patient when if anyone was really concerned about the patients healthcare would still be not for profit and not a business like it has turned into. But we MTs are the only ones expected to put out 99-100% work or get our pay reduced in many cases?

Gotta run right now but I could not disagree with you more really in some things.
I understood your point
I understand your point totally.  My point was that they actually promote those 10 days off without pay as a fringe benefit, when we have many more than 10 days off due to no work, or at least this has been my experience since October.  Add this to the constant hiring and it makes me sick.  I work with Editscript and they won't let me have a dictaphone account.  Unfortunately, I haven't found anything else yet.
I understood what the other poster was saying

Of course your management will know what type of report you get.  What the other poster was saying was that the end product would be the same if it was corrected by you through editing or corrected by you through erasing and straight typing.  Being familiar with VR editing, I can tell you that some reports are so bad that it is far less time consuming to completely erase the whole report and type it than it is to try to correct it.  This often happens when the physician or account is new to the VR platform.  It sounds like you have been very fortunate to be placed on a VR account that has been trained for a while now and so the reports generally come through as a breeze.  I've been on the other end where it was much easier/quicker to erase the VR report, enter my shortcut for a particular procedure and make 1 or 2 adjustments than it would have been to edit all the garbage that came through.

yes, understood BUT it is the fact that sm
it is more -- it is that we are losing our jobs period. I don't blame the phillipines or India employees, that need to make a living just like us. It is when we become the minority.

Just like all the foreign born doctors are here (and bring there cultural attitudes with them, I might add. I believe in sharing and a better life, but we no longer even have a choice of American born, attitude, culture physicians, etc.very very few in my area which is
Victorville, Barstow, Apple Valley California. Just are none, not even half a dozen.

There was a thing on TV, I think it was PBS where in India, the Hollywood cartoonist (there was another word for it, I forget, anyway, their jobs are outsourced from Hollywood to India because here it would be 73 million and there it is 30 million to do the job.

There must be some solution where the U.S. employees are able to survive too.

Look what they expect us, very well versed, very skilled technician in the medical field, who must actually know more that the doctors (they get an inch to the left or the right and they need to call in a consultant, and we are offered, 2.5, 3,4, 5, 6, 7, 8 cents a lines.

Figure it out, say 1000 lines a day, that is 125 lines an hour TIMES THE ABOVE to get your hourly rate. This why the MTs are frustrated. This is WHY.
Not Seymour, but I understood the post.

Seymour wasn't making fun of ESLs.  Anyone working for Transcend would know that there are several accounts that are very heavy ESL.  Seems kind of [fill in adjective of choice] to post an ad for 1 account that is no ESL.  Most people aren't foolish enough to believe that the majority of applicants are going to apply for a heavy ESL account when there is one with no ESLs.  We're also not foolish enough to believe that if we get hired for the no ESL account we'll be on that account for long before running out of work.  The no ESL ad is a carrot.  I'm just figuring (from Seymour's post below about Gone with the Wind) that the Scarlett interpretation is because Transcend is in Atlanta.

Oh, I understood your point perfectly.
Your statement was why call it a holiday if you don't get paid. To which, and I say again, it's a holiday whether YOU get paid or not, something you should have made a note of when you were hired.

And, BTW, individual beliefs and holidays and pay - and our attitudes to such - are all related to our human existence, existentially speaking.
KUDOS TT23,,,like you I understood what TT was doing
they explained rather clearly. It is a shame that this situation (which was only meant to help TT MTs) got so blown out of proportion. These are just rumors, bad rumors,, it amazes me how someone could totally miscontrue a very clear email!
I understood her to mean she was paid hourly plus
x
Understood, but MTSO's cannot afford
to sue every poster on these boards because of their bad press, or whatever you want to call it.. defamation seems extreme, but I didn't read the comments made by the posters who are being sued. Most people here post general angst-y things about companies and if a judge were to read over the comments on this board, to get an overview of the climate and what is considered normal conversation and postings on these boards, they would probably see that this is a normal, everyday occurrence on message boards. Are they going to shut down every message board? Where would they start? As someone said, some of the angry, horrible postings in the political forums are much worse than anything said on the company forum. IMO. I believe that on these boards the MTSO's AND the MT's BOTH post angry things at times. No one is innocent here.
Oh, I understood the post precisely and still
the people letting VR just go thru in order to not be docked should be immediately terminated.
I never understood how MTSOs came up with not paying for spaces. sm
You have to hit the spacebar just like anything else, and the document would be pretty darned hard to read without them.  I refuse to work for cheaterhead companies like that. Thanks for passing along the information.
I am so glad, so very glad that finally I have reached
the age that if we are low on work, I just take off. No problem at all and love the extra day or so off. I now have worked since the 70s and finally made to retirement age, get SS plus other retirement money coming in and thank the good Lord do not have to worry about if there is work or not. BTW, when I worked inhouse never ran out of work ever, only when transferring out to company do they run out of work. If I had to raise a family now I would most certainly cross train on other accts at my place but only have 1 that I work on, by choice.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think anyone used it anymore! I'm glad to hear so
I'll definitely check them out!
Maybe it would help if we knew exactly
how many people were quitting, if they could maybe post on here (or maybe a less public place might be better) when they find a new job and when they plan on leaving.  Might make more of an impact that way.  I'm going to have to leave, but I don't have a new job yet.  And I agree with you about not giving notice.  They didn't give us any notice.
See? You knew better, but still...
Do you brush off your typos in your work just because it is early morning?

Some people just do not do well under pressure like that (verbal quizzes) regardless of how much they know. Get off of your pedestal.
We knew what we were saying
Both of us knew what we were saying without the extra 000's.  I just looked at my chart notes and at 9 cents per line which is what I pay my subs you lost about 15% and so probably get about 7.5 cents per line.  The first document I checked was a lot of letters and consults and so there were a lot of blank lines in that one -- which I do get paid for believe it or not -- so that was not a good comparison --forgot about that.  But I just looked at a document that had 3830 lines and 2790 words and so you can compare that.   But again I charge gross lines.   Less per line but they much prefer the less per line than the more per line but less lines.  I have weird docs.   Good luck again.
If we knew of any, we'd all be there!
x
I knew it
Thank you so much for sharing. That is what I mean, the old bait and switch game. They reel you in, have you quit your current job, and then treat you anyway you want to. Just like 75% of the companies these days. And yes, lying to someone over the phone and the computer is easier for people. All I want in a company is work, paychecks, integrity, and honesty. And you sure wont get it here at JLG!!
If they only knew...
the clients I mean. Maybe everyone's minds should think alike.

I agree, Melissa was once an upstanding person and manager, boy was I wrong! She would not answer her office phone or her cell phone yesterday afternoon when I called and I left her messages. I emailed her that I was going to be out last night due to illness and she forwarded my email to Kathy Clemmons and Colleen Neidert. What, now I can't use my sick time either! Just try me!
I wish I knew
what company this hiring manager worked for.  I would not apply.
If you only knew!
nm
somehow I knew

Call me names if you want to....I really don't care.  I stand my ground.  Acusis is a  great company with great people.  I personally know MTs who have absolutely no trouble getting their Keystrokes in...perhaps you are spending too much time here when you should be transcribing?  Just a thought.....

No it isn't, but seems to be more than you knew. I also know how to
search the archives.
If she knew, do you think she would ask?

wish I knew..sm
The website looks good-seems like all radiology work., but other than that, I know nothing; I haven't heard from them either.
I wonder, too, if they even knew it was in use...
when filing a name, how would one know if w/o the copywrite?

wish I knew.. but
I received an email yesterday stating I did very well on the test and wanted to know when I would be able to speak to them. I told them today or tomorrow and gave time. So far, no response email, no call.
Uh oh. I knew something bad had to SM

be coming, since they didn't have any bad news at the last town meeting call.  Too many changes to annotate?  That's their way of having us go through the whole thing and hopefully miss even more things they are taking away from us, OR more things we are going to have to do and not be paid for.

the OP knew what she was doing and sm
I am sure she knew the consequences. She will be fine and she will get another job.

I just hope its not in an office with folks like you. I have been there, done that and no amount of money is worth that.

When it comes my time to die, I sure won't be saying GEE I wish I had worked more hours! I will be glad I did what I could do for and with my family and the OP will do the same.
Well, 2 of us knew it
But don't feel too badly. Some of us manage to be aware of cultural phenomena and the world outside of our own. I don't think any of us expect that from you.
I knew it, I knew it
Wow, I thought Iw as the only one who noticed something weird about this companyh. They pulled the same garbage on me, the 9:00 interview, on Yahoo IM? What a crock. What exactly are they trying to pull?  I also got a computer virus that I think was due to them.
Although this is something I knew, it SM

bears repeating.  MTStars is not giving out that information.  The poster in question made it clear that she gave information in HER OWN POSTS that allowed identification.

There are also accusations against 4 Jane Does in the suit, which shows everyone that nobody from MTStars is giving out ISP or identification information.

Thanks. I knew there was something but
x
I never knew they had glitches.
I'm in the dark about that.

if you knew what they paid, why did you take the job?
x
knew that was coming!
Three things are for sure - death, taxes, and that you'll start your vendetta the minute anyone mentions OSI!
I knew it was too easy sm
Probably too good to be true but I will try to straddle both jobs. My current one is a stinko place, lotsa junk dictation, no $$, so T seemed like a big step in the right direction. However, I got it too easy. My experience with both MT and nonMT jobs is if you get them too easily, there's usually a reason why -- nobody else wants it.
I knew 4 companies in NJ this way. It was not a
~
I don't know firsthand but knew
someone that worked for them once who was happy with them
I knew someone would disagree with me, but
for the account I am on, I am definitely getting the short end of the stick being paid by the report. Unfortunately, that is something you don't know until you actually work on the account. At least by the line, you are paid for what you do exactly.
Money? They pay for this? Who knew?!!!
Dear Foothills:

You are too funny!

None of us make money in transcription anymore. Veteran's in the business can remember when we used to make a living wage, but anymore?

No, we'd all be better off as coal miners because it would pay better. I'm serious. These companies are in the penny pinching business, stealing spaces, headers, footers, courtesy copies, and creative accounting so what you type is not what you get paid anymore, and they have it down to a science.

I'm guessing, but I'd venture to say in the coal mine they wouldn't tell me working for free is part of my job. What do you think?

hahahahahaa.

I'm working on an attitude today with dictators.

I wish they would all yawn, fart, sneeze, eat, cough, talk to other people, answer the telephone, play with the calculator and shuffle papers while dictating as I am sitting here trying to make a living.

Then, if they can gargle like this fellow I have right now where I can struggle to understand, I would just be thrilled! (Sarcasm).

Rudest animal on the planet?

Dictators.

Some days it would be easier for a gnat to give birth to an elephant than to transcribe a horrible dictator. Ever have a day like that?

There in is the reason we make little to no money.

AMEN.
Last I knew it was Starmark sm
and they were awful.
I knew it would come out sooner or later.

If people only knew what goes on (sm)
the deception is something else with this company, I am so happy to be rid of all that nonsense.  Sorry that happened to you.
Thanks, Wendy, I never knew that.
