geez or not geez, it's you who has to polish up her grammar...sm
Prove that conjunctions cannot be used to start a sentence, I just proved the contrary in my 2 lower post. Read it, so you can better you grammar.
HMMMM
The time it took for you to post this, you could have already dialed them up yourself and the got the answer straight from the horse's mouth!
hmmmm
Would not be my first choice... criminal history / conviction problems.  Think strings back in Sept about their legal issues in newspapers were deleted from this site.   May be a good fit for you, but check it out thoroughly first.
Did you ever think hmmmm
Did you ever take a test and know good and well you aced it only to have a person call you back after several days to tell you you had failed? I tested only because I had approached them, never called them back, got another job in the meantime (theirs was fulltime and I wanted part which I got) and then today they are telling me didn't pass-- don't believe it with my 30+ years of MTing and told him exactly that. Thanked him for his time, of course. What is to be will be anyway is the way I look at life....
Hmmmm
I sure don't recall it taking that long. I was hired a little over a year ago. I didn't go through any testing process at all... Just an interview. I have been totally satisfied and happy with them so far. Good luck!
hmmmm...

Well, it doesn't sound much different than my situation. I have 3 accounts, was hired to do OPs specifically, I also do all cardiology diagnostic types as well, and willing to help out on other work types occasionally. I really don't think it is a matter of that work type running out.

I think I will have to inquire, just doesn't add up. Thanks for the advice.

Hmmmm
Why do I feel like somebody is snooping in my mailbox all of a sudden? Exactly how do you know that's not me? I do over 20,000 lines a pay period at least, sometimes more, so as you can see the highest pay of the new incentive scale is a definite increase, at least for me.
hmmmm
Well one would hope that there's enough work to go around. If that's the case then making sure clients get their reports in a timely manner is a good thing and makes our TAT's look good as well. The idea that they'll take just anyone who'll walk in thru the door over there is a good example of how little thought the MT company heads put into this kind of work. Makes one feel special doesn't it {sarcasm implied}.
Hmmmm
and that is exactly when a great company begins to fail.  Have to start hiring more micro managers, transcription leads, etc.  Too big too fast, and this is exactly what this sounds like to me, AND I have been with companies like this before, it is NOT GOOD.  You end up being a number, not a name.  So many companies fail when they grow too fast, not just transcription.  Number one no-no.  Last year the fight on who to work for was between Keystrokes and Transtech.  As of now, they are both getting negative reviews, big ones....stick with a mom and pop co. who treat you right, KNOW YOUR NAME, you are not just a number.  You will make plenty of money for those bills, guarantee it!
Hmmmm...

I applied for a position at Keystrokes, was contacted by the CEO saying my test scores were excellent, was offered a job and sent paperwork to complete, sent back my paperwork with all my personal info and here it is 2 days later and I have not heard back from the recruiter after sending an email regarding whether or not she received my paperwork.  Hmmmm....

....
Hmmmm

I'm not too sure what to think of it either.  I've only been with DVHP for two months.  So far I'm enjoying it.  I do know that Transcend does the transcription for one of the hospitals near me (docs I have transcribed before).  I will be calling in for the conference call Sunday (missed Friday's because I was out Christmas shopping).  I would like it if I kept the same accounts I'm on now, since I'm pretty used to their formats, doctors, etc.  Then again, it would be nice to be added to that local hospital as well, since I am very familiar with the doctors and area.

I've heard good and bad things about Transcend, but I've heard the same about many other MTSOs as well.  We will just have to see.  When is this merger supposed to take place?

No hmmmm about it
if you live near East LA. It's a very common term there, unfortunately. I used to transcribe psychiatry and we had a lot of rehab reports with guys who were jonesing for their next fix.
Hmmmm

Thanks for the info ...no worries about me coming on board then.

Seemed a little too good to be true at first, then the flags started popping up.

Best wishes!

IN RESPONSE MS. HMMMM....
you aren't to bright are you?
Hmmmm...are they hiring??!?
x
Hmmmm... I dont think so
xx
hmmmm - can anyone say antitrust?

Just wondering here, may have to wiki that one.  How large would they have to be to constitute a monopoly in the industry?

I worked, ever so briefly, for focus and it was a disaster.  Start, middle, finish.  It was, I suppose, a great place to get my feet wet, and if they had followed through on their promises as they said they would, I would probably still be there.  I had a real problem, though, with the whole smile and nod policy with the support staff.  You know, they don't understand a word/text message we say and so they smile and nod?

Anyhoo, there is my two cents.

hmmmm....34 years and going ....
working exclusively at home for the last 9 years has revived my love for the work, as well as changing over to being an SE vs employee in the last few years. I love the freedom from a rigid schedule. I have always enjoyed medical knowledge, feel a sense of satisfaction from deciphering the difficult dictators and making a sensible, readable accurate report out of mumbojumbo. Course I love sailing through the easier ones in between. I guess I still find it challenging on some levels too. Maybe if you find it too hard to do 'one more report' sometimes, then it may help to work a bit less, take more vacation time, to try a new account, new hours, new company or change up something...get a massage, get refreshed!!
Hmmmm, that should be search box, DUH

Hmmmm - that's interesting
I read here that some hospital is docking the pay of their in-house MTs because they can't edit as fast as escription says they should be able to. Now, who to believe?
Hmmmm, I wonder who transcribes these reports.

Hmmmm.... Sounds like you're better off without them anyway!
nm
Glued to my seat???? hmmmm

Hmmmm ... this is a good question ... sm
and one I'd also like the answer to! ...
Hmmmm..... VEDDY interesting!
X
sounds like slander...hmmmm
;)
Hmmmm has no right to voice things like that...sm
Every poster has the right to post her/his opinion on this board, in a respectfully manner, and let the dicussions begin and go on!
Nobody has the right to tell anybody to 'look for another job or profession' or 'to shut up'.
Hmmmm. Did you just suggest that people not come to MTStars?
You are a total mess, and how anyone could take anything you say seriously is beyond me.

You have a real problem! Please seek help!
Reading about how other country handled this, hmmmm
just on Entertainment Tonight they were telling about some pretty raunchy things, for example saying body found in net hose and other items that maybe should be left alone. It is not just other country giving out information, better look at our country also. Some of the weekly tabloids get things like this and run with it.
I've got a pretty nasty ESL account with them and I don't get 10 cpl. Hmmmm....nm
x
Who do you work for and do you like working for them? Who would sm
you stay away from? I am a radiology only MT but I am getting shafted at MQ. I produce good quality, work when asked and get stuck with the garbage because 1) I can do it and 2) I will.

Want to move but do not want to jump into a worse situation as I am a single mom and cannot afford to be burned.

Where are you located?
Working OT we have so much work...
Hope it gets better for everyone else!
Hmmmm..I was afraid of that. I guess I saw that coming. Everyone said it'd change with the merger
and the days of a gift card would be gone. Oh well, it kind of goes along with everything else, different way to get shorted on line counts too. I guess ...This is what they call cutbacks.  Tis' the season
Is anyone working on DQS for 2 different companies and how does this work out for you. nm
:
It if offshore work. You'd be better off working
at Wal-Mart.
I have a lot of work and actually working overtime
I guess it all depends on your account. I like the communication I get from my TL. It is a great change from my previous company. Good luck to you in your job hunt!
Why are you working 60 hours, when you can work 40 at Amphion?
Just curious as to why you would continue to work 60 hours a week, if you can work 40 hours at Amphion and make more money? Why have you not gone full time with Amphion? Again, just curious. I do not want to start anything.
Been working there 2 days and they're already out of work. nm

Working from home/office work

I feel I need to speak up. I understand that the industry is going backwards in pay and for all of the more experienced MT's this is really degrading from what I hear from some. I understand and I would probably feel the same way. This is a craft. Not everyone can do what we do. It is a very hard craft. We should be paid what we are worth. There is no doubt about that but I also know how it works in an office in this industry. Being in an office is awful! I did it for 15 years. I worked at 2 different companies and both took advantage of the hard worker I was. I had MULTIPLE jobs and was not compensated for it. When I hear MT's complain about how bad they have it I want to scream. Yes, the pay is an issue. Yes, the belittling emails from managers is ridiculous. I completely agree and all of those managers should be let go but you do not know how awful it is to be in an office setting dealing with those belittling managers.

Trust me everyone in the company you work for or wherever that is not a VP or CEO is going through hell on a daily basis and not getting paid for it. You are making a lot more money for the time you put in than the people working in the office mostly. The people in the office are probably working on salary. When you figure the hours they work and the amount they are paid that are probably making about $5.00 an hour or less. They also have to work nights/weekends etc. from home. They also are having to listen to all of the MT's daily when they have a problem, they call in giving a excuse as to why they cannot come to work and trying to scramble to get the shift filled when the MT is really not sick as she said, problems dealing with the clients and their complaints about the work or turn times, problems with MT's and editors fighting via IM or email, problems with the Sales guys telling potential clients...oh yeah, we can do that...when we CANNOT.

I could go on and on. Being in an office is a lot more work than you would think. I would be greatful for what you have. I am not bitter at what I have gone through in an office setting. It got me to where I am today. I just want to let you know it is not easy working in an office and it is a lot harder than being an MT when you can type and then stop for the day and not have to answer to others and deal with their issues. Being an MT is a craft and it is hard...just be thankful!

Have a HAPPY HOLIDAY! Be joyous! Feel Blessed!

In agreement with the above, sitting working on work
is just beyond what it should be. In earlier years I worked 2 jobs but each job paid every 2 weeks. One job paid 1 week, the other the next so my check each and every week was for 2 week pay period. How sweet was that! Now if I have a few hours downtime for no work it is fine, just take off, can make it up, don’t have to if I don’t want but very few times this happens and I only have a partime job now.
Geez...
wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning???
geez!

Lighten up. I never claimed each and every one of the gaffs in my post would happen in a single report! (explanation point)  Just trying to show the range of possibilities and provide a little fun at the same time.

And to those who say we must adapt, some species will just take themselves out of the gene pool, rather than lose their wings and become ground dwellers.  The advent of computers (like losing flippers and growing legs) was a boon to this profession, one to which I was happy to adapt because it was beneficial to me.  Not really sure what I would be getting out of adaptation to VR, other than being allowed to do something kinda like my old job, that I don't enjoy nearly as much as my old job, for a lot less money than my old job.  Just doesn't seem like a good plan, but then that's just me.

geez...
do you also begrudge the lady using the insurance for her breast cancer or the guy with the MI??? Health insurance has always paid for pregnancy-related charges. And women have taken maternity leave. why is this a big deal for everyone now? would you like her to schedule her delivery for friday so she can recuperate over the weekend and be back at her desk on Monday?
Oh geez!!!
You just put into writing my worst fear, the one I was afraid to mention, that they perhaps are offshoring. It's just so unlike my experience with them to be met with dead silence and a lack of explanation from management about work being slow. One poster even tried addressing D directly to no avail.

The silence is deafening.

I hope we're WAY off base on this but with no other explanations coming from the higher ups, it does leave a lot of room for speculation.

Hoping for the best for all of us at MDI-MD right now...
To Geez
I know you did not mean to offend and I was not. :) The one thing we can all say is that MDI MTs are a cohesive group of respectful MTs, especially of each other. We are all on this ship together although in different ways. I am lucky so far in that I transcribe private office accounts. Therefore, the work is my own and only if a doctor is on vacation or sick, is my work load super low. I make 9 cpl and have not asked for any more in 3 years and never will. I cover for other MTs on vacation who also have private accounts. I do not do hospital work and now I think I may be more grateful than ever that I do not. However, I only average 800-900 lines per day and sometimes less. I dropped my commitment to 800 when 2 private accounts left. The one major complaint I have with MDI is when physicians take their business to another service or utilize another technology MDI never tells you. You sit and look at an empty template for days wondering if they are sick, on vacation or dead! No one says anything until you just figure (or finally hear it from your TL) that this doctor/practice left MDI.
Geez!
Okay fine, the experienced receptionist would get 50 cents more an hour....happy now?   Ohhh, ahhhh!!!   Good grief!
Geez!
So if you are one of the lucky MTs who got your wages cut, you can look forward to no milk and sewing your own clothes and adding patches and sparkles when they rip.  Just shoot me already!  Oh, you guys are killing me with the drama!
Geez, just let it go....nm
nm
Geez!!
I am soo sick and tired of the sniping on this board!!  Its either the great debate re: VR versus I only wanna work days  -- To NEWBIES -- I have been in this profession over 30 years  -- therefore, the days, the hours off that I want take precedence over your wants, needs or groans  -- I have also worked in the corporate world and if you are low man on totem pole  -- TOUGH!!  I also had the guts/nerve to tell my employer that due to where I lived I had to have a raise to deal with COLA -- guess what??? I have it  - and BTW  -- no I am doing straight transcription and NO we are not hiring so dont ask
Well geez!

That oughta make 'em all feel a whole lot better!

I had over 40 years in the business and guess what?  I used to be just as arrogant as you but after buy-outs, mergers and all the rest, it got ME.  Time was when I wanted a raise, I asked for it...and got it.  I never worked a weekend until I VOLUNTEERED to work weekends after my kids were grown so others might have time to spend with their families.    No way would I get back in the MT business!!  I'd flip burgers first.  And... no way would I do VR at 3-4 cpl.  Your time will come, trust me.

IMO look elsewhere...I spent a lot of time waiting for work rather than working! nm
