The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Let's be realistic. sm
Voice recognition is not perfect and works best with a Transcriptionist working on it as well or it does not work. It is VERY expensive, and the estimate is that only 10% of transcription with go this way, and most of that is radiology.

I also believe that offshore transcription will be less and less tolerated by hospitals. The work returned is terrible, the TAT is not what is promised, and the fact that private medical records are leaving the country is a HUGE factor.

I think we just need to work through it, and it will come back to the U.S.

Remember when we were told that computers would replace us???????
ONE position - Oh, the sky is falling, the sky is falling!! nm

Here's one that cracks me up -(sm)-
I see this all the time in animal ads on Craigslist, usually for cats:

'... he loves to be PET.'

(instead of 'petted').

Keystrokes cracks me up!!
a phone call on Monday. Well, it is now EARLY Wednesday morning and still no phone call. Thank goodness I am not holding my breath and I would suggest that nobody else hold theirs if they are expecting big things from Keystrokes. What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, this 'MT' person just cracks me up !..nm

I felt like I really fell through the cracks at Medquist...
My computer didn't come for almost a month-and-a-half, I had to have training rescheduled after it finally came, and then I couldn't get a return call from my supervisor with my account specs.

When she finally assigned the account, I got this huge e-mail with samples in it, at least 100, and not really organized in any way, shape, or form. I had some questions on the report types I was supposed to be assigning, but never heard back before getting an e-mail from that she was going to be gone for a week at a supervisor meeting. She didn't even tell me who to call for help.

I made it less than 2 weeks there as there was just no guidance. However, there was a gal who called about a month later to see how things were going, and I told her my experience. She said they were looking into mentors for newhires, so maybe that has improved now.
this cracks me up "ALL my current accounts..are .wav formatted."
the OP says, However, ALL my current accounts and most of my accounts throughout my career are .wav formatted.  And I started with tapes and a Selectric typewriter. Oh, and the word ergonomic had not been invented yet...uphill both ways, ya know
The Sky Is Falling!
I'm nerrrrrrvous!
Appreciate the thought, but it's good enough for me
...and more than you usually get in the workplace, so I'll take it. Thanks, Michelle.:)
I thought the pay was very good
It ran from 14-18 based on production......if they had direct deposit, I'd STILL be there!
Sad that now even the MT is trying to justify falling

FutureNet falling apart
Anyone else getting irritated with FutureNet's lack of work and lack of respect for their transcriptionists?
FutureNet falling apart
I have been with FN since 2005, started with a good account but lost it back in November of 2007 and have been struggling for work ever since. It was over 5 months before they gave me another account (the new SC account) and I still can't meet quota. They are all excuses if they answer you at all. They won't answer emails or phone calls. I hate the thought of having to look for another company but I'm going to be on the street if something doesn't happen soon, and you are all right...they really just don't care, they'll hire more.
I never thought of that, good luck. nm
xxx
Isn't FutureNet IC only, though? 10 cpl either way is good, but I thought they were
x
good perspective, I thought of this too when sm
I posted yesterday, thought this may be happening, i.e., helpless situation for supervisor who prob. relies on so-called expertise of that worker, perhaps does not know medical transcription herself. It is a concern your name/work record being ruined.
I thought it was good when I charged

I charged that even for half pages.  I did clinic work, so most were only short letters.  Doctor was happy and I was happy.  I transcribed in Word.  The difference was made up when I had length letters for the workers' comp cases, so it all evened out.

I'd shoot for that in a minute!

If you had an attitude that she should be falling all over herself to hire you......
maybe THAT's why she didn't call you back!
Nervous Nettie Here...OSi seems 2 B falling apart.
Upper management is acting so skitterish....had a mandatory conference call this morning and it was pretty nasty!  Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?  I'm going to start looking for a new job.
My Lee Perfect Nails keep falling off. nm

Are you being sarcastic or serious? I thought it was a good post. nm
nm
Ew, I thought they were one of the good hourly ones. Changes my opinion of them.
x
Not falling for this twice. These guys love to overhire.
nm,
Exactly my thoughts/question about falling below 900 for one month
IF one wanted to become an employee at Transcend, this is very important to be answered now. I assume it will be answered - hopefully MDI-MD or Transcend are reading this board and will realize we need these answers sooner than later lest we jump ship because of the lack of answers NOW instead of this on an individual basis with HR nonsense.

If we choose to be an employee and fall short one month or even two (because of various issues, illness, who knows), are we on warning? are we dropped by insurance for month?

I had no idea, I thought Medware was one of the good guys.
Guess I won't be applying with them after all.

To those already with them, I hope you can all agree to not assist offshore typists to take jobs from US MTs.
Really? I thought it sounded like a good line rate.
nm
I thought that cpl seems a little too good. Without spaces would make sense. Not
sure how much you really make per line without spaces.
GOOD. This is important. Glad you thought ahead.
.I think we as women are condition to wait and see how it goes. Has it really ever gotten better -- whatever THAT was. We need to learn to believe our gut. When My Office Genie sold to MQ, I guess she (carol) was so fearful, she made the anouncement and wham, immediately gone. Had it all planned out in advance packed and gone..
I saw this posted some time ago and thought then, hmmm, not a good idea
You were outraged and it was very apparent as you spoke then of they knew who you were and you really spoke your mind. I know we are supposed to have freedom of speech but having said this it was like you did not care if someone came after you and now, well seems like that has happened. I am not saying it is right but sometimes good to keep thoughts to yourself, especially now since you have heard from the state. You said you are flattered. I would never been flattered to have someone sue me. Seems like you bit off more than you can chew.
That's strange. When I received an offer, I thought it was competitive and the benefits were good
especially medical insurance benefits for family. Maybe I did not look at them very close. Could you elaborate on what you were offered? I really thought they were decent pay and benefits.
Good advice, and advice that I'm giving real thought to ...

If I had known that they offshored before I accepted employment with them I never would have gone there to work.  I've been here long enough now though to not want to lose my benefits.

Still ... making a DECENT PAYCHECK and making a living without being stressed out over the type of work that I'm doing is just as important as good benefits.

I thought no news is good news, too. Then got email about
p
I actually thought of that. I even thought of trying to go back to MQ part-time!! (sm)
I just wonder about hours at a second company.  I work days (and some nights) with this company.  I have a set schedule but with the no work situtation I've been on the computer at all hours of the day and night.  Right now I have no work, so I would love to jump on at a company #2 and start working.  Do you have to have set hours at your company #2?  Thanks for the suggestion.
The best co. ever! Good work, good people, good pay, good bennies.
x
Yes there is! Good pay and good bonuses and good benefits.

Personally, DSG is a good fit for me. Pay is good and on time, sound quality depends on the account
and I like the platform. There is not much weekend work, although sometimes is available.  I get along well with the management, no major complaints.  There is pay incentive once you get over a certain number of lines in a pay period.  I work as an IC, so can't help with benefits, insurance questions, etc.
I'm with them. Good work environment, easy accounts and I'm making really good money. nm

Fairly flexible but they do like a schedule. Insurance is good. Benefits are good in my opinion.

For the past week, work has been a little slower but I think that is common in every company..some days busy and other not.

Does anyone recommend a pretty good company that is good to work for, pay always on time and plenty
of work.  I know that is asking a lot, but just curious?
Strictly IC, good company, hard accounts, good platform.
Good pay, always on time, no direct deposit though.
Is Transcend a good company with a good platform to work on. They are advertising.
:
Webmedx hires some ICs. Good company. So sorry for your loss. Good luck!
x
TransTech for many reasons, good pay, stable company, good benefits
and flexible.
I have looked around the last 6 months and have found nothing better. Have turned down numerous jobs, and have finally decided to stay put. The better insurance plans were announced and even moreso than ever, I am staying put, and my paycheck is happy about that because it is getting better every day. Good luck to you.
TransTech is a good company. Debbie is the owner and a good one at that! nm
n
Good company, great people, good benefits.
Affordable insurance. Good luck!
Adminstrative Assistants and VanBelkum. Good companies, good pay!
x
Spheris supes/QA are good, insurance not good; they offshore
nm
U.S. only, very steady work, some VR, good pay, good insurance, no PT, schedule. sm
That should cover it!
Things are not good there now. Think only hiring for 2nd and 3rd shiifts. Good luck. nmx

Had the same happen here, heard the same thing, good references and good ....sm
job record will get you better $$$ if you are willing to promote yourself, search like crazy, talk to everyone, etc., but I have never been paid a cent more for CMT, what a waste, and all the years I paid my dues to AAMT, what a joke, they did NOTHING to better our field, just took the money for better conventions, as far as I can see.
A thought. sm
Good points. From what I've heard, managers don't have to handle situations exactly the same way as others might. They follow basic company rules and procedures, but you could get different people running things differently depending on their style, preferences, or client needs. MQ offices are like this, too, from my experience.

Maybe it's not favoritism, or misinformation, or conflicting information, but rather just a choice being made. Then again, if there are vastly different methodologies between managers, to the point that it affects the MTs, maybe that does need to be brought to the attention of a higher authority so it can be worked out to the satisfaction of all involved. The managers may not even be aware that they work so differently! Maybe this is something that MTs can address with the managers involved?
