Great people, IC only, low pay, easy accounts, sm

direct deposit, paid weekly, always on time.

Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Don't remember all the details. Something like you cannot deviate at all...sm
From your hours for 6 months and some other junk before you could be actually considered an employee. Guess they think of it as a long probationary period. We all know things come up, especially if you have kids, elderly parents, etc. It just looked like they left themselves a lot of wiggle room to drop you without notice even if you had been working there 5 months and 29 days. There's quite a list of things you have to agree to, and I don't remember them all. They aren't really unreasonable, just inflexible, and a big CYA thing for them. At least that's what I thought. Gave me a bad feeling. Good luck.
Good accounts, great people, plenty of work. sm

I'm past that "honeymoon" stage of the first few months that another poster mentioned.  I still find them to be the best for me.  Never run out of work, always there for questions, including timely responses, great people (QA and otherwise).

I'd highly suggest contacting either your supervisor or Jane (as she offered) about lack of work.  As you should see on the daily reports, there is plenty of work out there.

Good luck & I hope it works out for you.

I don't remember the test being difficult. sm
But it is part of looking for a job.  Unfortunately we have one of the only jobs that I know of that most companies make the applicants test before even looking at them.  It does get time consuming looking for a new job.
No PT bennies. Easy interview, but don't remember details. Good luck. NM

I don't remember the testing process as being extraordinarily difficult
but the person I tested with in HR is no longer there. What I liked best was interviewing not just with the HR person, but also actually getting to interview with my Lead, so I got to ask real relevant account-type questions, etc. Pay is not the hightest, but definitely not the lowest - more middle of the road, but at least I always have work, so that's not an issue. I'm only PT, so I don't get benefits, but we recently got sent a new benefits plan, etc., and it looks good to me for FT employees. Give them a shot. There's a lot of bad press here about them, but I think it's old info, nothing current.
I would never give details of my own accounts

If this man is asking for details meaning names of your current clients, then he's looking most likely for new clients for himself.

No job is worth losing your own clients.  Just be careful out there.

I worked for a hospital and wouldn't care if they called them, but in my opinion just like we have to do our research with the dictators thrown at us, so do the recruiters.  JMO.

It would be great to have details of your experience

They are difficult accounts, and they have not
been able to hold anyone on these accounts for some reason. They've had these accounts for quite awhile, so I'm thinking that in order to keep the client happy, they must be offshoring the account again. They will do that from time to time. I'm glad I'm off of it. I was not making my lines on the Michigan account.
Webmedx has difficult accounts. High ESL.
More power to them if they've developed a program that can handle those high-ESL nightmares. They have the toughest accounts I've seen in 25 years of transcribing. Yeeeeuck! Would hate to be doing VR on those!

I have a friend who works there in management. I will have to check with her to see what she has to say.
The oncology accounts are very difficult. Too many ESLs.
It just was not worth it for me.  A lot of long reports but no money to be made. It just took too long to get through them.JMO
Loved Alltype! Great management and great accounts.
wah  -  i miss it there!
Great Post! I remember this all now.
rusty! OP was great, but you really explained it very well to those of us who had forgotten.... much to think about.
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
Yeah if I remember right, they are one of the low-paying Escription accounts out there, maybe 1.5-2
cpl or something ridiculous. Not actually livable US rates...
Amber - great post!! I remember selectrics....sm

And stayed on the Selectric for nearly 10 years pre-word processing computers (pre-Internet).  I remember, we had no self-correcting - we had to use a white tape to remove a letter.  But in those days, I did 2000 lines PER DAY!!!  At 6 CPL. And I worked 5-1/2 days a week in their office.  I had 12 accounts there.  So, I know my value and I know I'm not making my line counts for the BIG national since 1/1/06.

I agree with you that MTs will always be necessary. I too have been doing VR for about nearly 2 years and it all comes in terribly garbled via VR and we have to make it all nice and professional looking.  I love VR though today, I rarely get any VR reports. Don't know where they have been farmed out to either.

Thanks for your insightful post!!!  I, too, am tired of the moaning and groaning....something I never *indulge* in.  All this complaining is an indulgence in my mind.

Be well and thanks again for your insightful post!!

Can't remember exactly, but it was within a day or two. Depends on how many people are testing s
at a time. Hope you did well!!
Wonderful place IMO. Remember, some people (sm)
will gripe no matter what. My work is pretty steady, once in a while have to flex my schedule a bit, after OT has been offered or a holiday weekend, but ALWAYS have enough per pay period.

People in the office I have contact with are efficient and pleasant. Pay is good. Benefits are fair.

I start and finish my shifts with a good attitude, What more can you ask for?

Welcome aboard. Are you going to be doing QA or MT?
Either way, glad to have you with us.

Seriously, gourdpainter, I have been in the same boat as these people, you are retired, remember?
When I had to work and make a living I took most things that were thrown my way, because I had to have a job. If my boss told me I had time off and then changed their minds and I did not have in writing, then that is what I went along with. I hardly think now since you are retired you have the ability to tell others about what they should do. I have retirees tell me they think I should retire but now I am saying to you, let these people decide on their own what they want to do and it is different when you can afford to sit back and say that. You get retirement, they don’t!
I remember your post several weeks ago..Hopefully, you still arent working for these people. I'm
sure they have been paid by their client. Why do they think they can rip people off. You need to post their name so that noone else bothers with them. Oh yeah, I think I remember now..It was someone named Joanna who asked for overflow help on podiatry, right? I am ashamed to admit that I submitted my resume. Luckily, she never called or I would be doing what your doing..Nightmare..
The thing to remember about this board is that there are more negative people than positive that pos
The reason is that a lot of MT's have had bad experiences EVERYWHERE they go, if you know what I mean. They then bash the most recent company over and over again.

The same few people seem to have worked everywhere and have something bad to say about every company.

Take everything with a grain of salt on here. It is a gossip board.

The only ones to believe the negativity about are those that do not pay or bounce their payroll checks.

The rest? Well, most are decent companies that might not be a good fit for everyone. There is not much difference between all the bigger ones except whether they send work offshore or not. Otherwise, rates are similar, benefits are similar, work load is similar.
yes, IC only, clinic accounts, great co.

Is that the only option, though? How about great accounts at 10 cpl? :-) nm

Just people with a few accounts, sm
and some subcontractors.  Very small time.  Most actual companies have their own platforms these days.
My STM said no new people were on any of our accounts, but regardless of (sm)
what account they are on it someone who was typing those lines will be moving to another account and when that account runs low the people on that account will move to another account, and so on and so on.

I like the company, the benefits and the fact they don't outsource. I will stick it out and hope for the best.

We had a lot of work the first of this week, I don't know what happened. Maybe some people are already searching out other jobs.

Right now I am glad it is summer time and when I do have to flex my schedule I consider it an opportunity to spend a little unexpected time out in my garden.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Which companies out there have great ortho accounts??

I would like to find a company that has a lot of ortho..It's my first love. Any suggestions??

Great, there are people out here who...

are the sole support of their families (who usually need to eat regularly, wear clothes and shoes and need electricity and other "luxuries."

You would tell someone in that position to be grateful for the opportunity to spend time with their children in that case?  How much quality time can a parent have with kids if they are worried about paying the bills?

Great people....
I was hired by Alltype a couple of weeks ago.  Everyone is professional and friendly.  They pay excellent and they hire both employee and IC status.  When the account that I was hired for was having technical problems they offered me an hourly wage compensation becuase it was not my fault.  Now thats a company that cares about their transcriptionists.  I'm pretty sure I'll be with them for a long, long time.
Great people nm

These people who think 40K is great sm

weren't around when this was a real career, when the pay scale was 11 cpl+ as an employee with benefits and a normal amount of paid time off during the year, equipment provided by the company, internet paid by the company.

Fast forward from then until today and what you have is a clerical job with clerk salary.

Yep. Great people.
I worked for them many, many years ago, but absolutely love the owner, Cindy, and her husband. (Back then, not sure about now), the pay was great and I felt like a member of the family. Highly recommended.
I wasn't saying that we do not have enough people on the accounts. I was saying that we do not r

out of work and it is always busy.  Lee is the owner but the managers "run the show".  She is sales not HR.   She took over calls for a few days when Karen and Keystrokes parted ways.  Becky is the one to talk to at the office.  Lee is out of town on sales calls and client visits too much to handle that.  You should call the office at 630-739-5520.  Perhaps you misunderstood that you were hired?  She hired a transcriptionist that I used to work with and she has been working for a month now, starting two days after she was hired.

Becky is wonderful and can help anyone who needs help.  Did you ever leave a message with the office or did you call Lee at her direct line?

I am not involved in this end but am friends with a manager (worked with her for 5 years at a hospital) and know that HR is not Lee's strong point - it is a full time job and she already works 12 hour days.

Great office staff, okay pay, horrible ESL's on all accounts. NM
NM
The people are great to work with
and the pay is good and on time. I do find the work isn't as steady as I'd like though, but hey, that's the MT business, right?
Pay is a bit low, but great bunch of people. sm

Clinic work is super easy -- 7 to 7-1/2 cpl -- and I think acute care pays 8-1/2 cpl.  They pay once a week, direct deposit, work is done in Word.

Hope this helps.

Great for some maybe....but they are nice people...nm

That was great. My heart goes out to the MDI people, too. nm

KS people who work on accounts with lag time (sm)
I have been having the phone line go dead and sometimes I can call right back and get my report and sometimes I lose it.  I have had my cable people out here several days in a row, and they can find nothing wrong.  I was wondering if this happens to others - and maybe it is a problem with the hospital line we use - not actually the line in my home.  I appreciate any input.  (I am new on this account so do not have enough history to know.)
They keep losing accounts and letting people go. nm
nm
Hmm, guess they have openings for certain people on certain accounts...nm

Hourly pay, great benefits, schedule depends upon which accounts...sm
you are QAing.  Solid company.  Good luck!

Seems like the problem is becoming more widespread. Well, the people that think MQ is so great may
not after they are in the same situation. You know, things are great until they arent. One thing is for sure, it will change and all these people that are getting bonuses etc with tons of work are bound to be right along with us in the very near future. Guarantee it. MQ is after very VERY short TAT and so that will become companywide as it is already. Cant run a 1 hour TAT and have people not running out of work constantly. That also is a given.
Great people..AWFUL platform!!!nm

Consider yourself in the inner circle. She is great to people she likes but
quite the opposite if she does not. There is no pattern either, all a whim. I am lucky that she likes me, but I am afraid that the knife will someday be in my back.

JLG as a company has been great to me. Do not let the recruiter spoil the opportunity to work for a great company. Just grin and bear it because once you are in, you do not have to deal with her.
I work for Allegiant too - great people and a

Yes, some really great, talented people have left, and that's
always a danger sign to me. If upper management keeps being mentioned as a reason these good people are leaving, somebody should take notice. This company seems to be hemorrhaging talent and keeping an incompetent, power-hungry suit. It's hard to know whether to leave or stay. I would not recommend them to anyone right now.
Good! Great people to work for!

Just by posting that here will help a great deal of people
Thank you!
Forever, people had 2 jobs, not just MTs. And great
This is what i mean by you pilot your life, your life shouldnt just be floating you thru life.  Over the course of about 2 years, I have made conscious effort to make my life work for me. Figured out what platforms I like, what type accts.  What kind of equipment works best for me, how to efficiently handle docs and files.  In word based platform, I am Speedy Gonzales as far as how I get in and out, how I process docs. Still spend same amount of time on actual edit and type, those you can only do so fast and be correct but all other aspects, I am fast. You find your fit, which is not a one size fits all.  But, working 2 jobs is not the territory of onlyl the MT world. My dad did it while my mom also worked as RN.
