holy smokes .. shoot me!
I talk to people daily about transcription and I could not agree with you more .. what a sad state for professionalism.  You could be in the cellar transcribing in your undies, but I do not need to know this and most of the hard working MTs out there who daily do make a difference are offended by the visual.  Working remotely is not a given, but it is a boon to people with children, with disabilities, with limited access to a strong job market.  It does not mean that you do not take what you do seriously and that you give it your best.  I am so fortunate where I am to have a great team of people who work hard, turn around good work, keep their end of the bargain we make, and appreciate that they have a great situation and respect themselves for having achieved a great account, good pay, good feedback and employee status with good rates and benefits that are very affordable.  My intention is to keep it that way and thank heavens mostly I have my wits about me and choose carefully and well.  Our MTs are professionals and we thank our lucky starts for them each and every day.  The interesting thing is that I think that a recommendation for someone to come to work with you is the most sincere form of flattery and while we add to our ranks, I am getting so many referrals from our own MTs.
Jewish high holy days begin at sundown tonight.

I can't tell you exactly for single, but I was quoted
a range from $134 pp to $245 depending on which plan you choose for E+child. I would think it would likely be about half that for Employee alone. But that is just a guess. HTH some.
I got paid less than what I was quoted
I already did not like the direction my -previously wonderful- company was going in and had another part time job lined up, however when I saw on my pay stub 1/2 cent per line less than what I had been promised I walked out and did not look back. Took a full time job with my new company. No love lost here.
I was quoted a 65-ch line using Chartscript. nm

OK. Here is what you said inside. Direct quoted post
from above.

In Reply to: I know the owner was interviewing for the trainer - MT trainer

that's the point. no one got it. they ended up saying that the owner was too busy to do any hiring. I interviewed for it too. 2 weeks of my time for nothing.

I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
I'm original poster and a high level 4 as well with high ESL accts, which I've always had...sm
My accts (10+) for the previous 12 years were all in the LA area. I consider ESL at Webmedx easy, even though my WebmedX accts are supposed to be high ESL. ALL of my STMs accounts are low on work--quite low. I've added more accounts. Not helpful if all are low in work. My supervisor at MQ was more helpful than my Webmedx STM.
They are not MT, but general transcription. Pay not very high. at least not as high as MT work.x

So what should she have said oh holy one?
NM
holy cow!
so many of you who responded woke up on the wrong side of the bed today - or are you always this nasty? She is asking a question on how many of you do work every weekend and how you do it. She turned down the job so why are you so quick to crucify her? To the OP, there are still companies out there that do not require a commitment to every weekend and some that require no weekend commitment and even some that require no commitment to any set hours, like a true IC should be. I know because I work for one. It took me some time and research to find the company that met my needs, but they are out there. Keep looking; you will find the one that is right for you, too. If this one doesn't offer what you want, you did the right thing in turning them down. Stick to your priorities and good luck to you.
Holy Guacamole!
That's rather pricey! Is their pay scale such that insurance is in fact affordable? Not being sarcastic... just curious!
Holy moly! Thanks for that!

I hope you don't mind if I use it my own self!  There are a lot of questions in there I would NEVER have thought to ask.

You might want to ask about shift differential for evenings/nights/weekends, holiday pay, OT pay, whether OT is ever available and/or is OT ever mandatory.  I don't like ASR so I'd ask something about whether they were moving towards more ASR.  I can't think of anything else ATM.... Thank you for the great ideas!!

HOLY MOLY
I had no idea. WOW!
Personally, I would raise holy
bloody blue .. but I have to agree that with automation today there is no excuse for not having direct deposit.  Then, to have to pay for it to be late .. I would be a mental case!  UPS rides the men, apparently they are not the tightest ship in the business any longer.  The Christmas rush was never an excuse before, it was when they shone .. lousy service seems to have an intrusive and pervasive effect on everything these days.  As for him being offended .. after 35 years there is nothing you could say that he has not said himself .. often!  Merry Christmas .. I am so sorry they failed you.
Holy never-saw-that-one-coming Batman!

Whoever you are anon....thanks for sharing that.  I honestly had no idea and it really makes me sad.  Looks like our grand formage needs his hiney paddled.  So totally not behavior becoming of any company in this day and age.

Holy McMollee! Unreal! nm
nm
Holy Cow!!!! Are you serious??? What is wrong with people??
Are you sure it wasn't in New Mexico, although not much different clientele. Wow.. I'd be moving on and telling them to lose my number.
Holy crap - one heck of a cut . sm
One of the reasons I first went with WMX was the 35 hour work week for FT with bennies. They stopped that.

The health insurance was decent, but if you chose to use it and had the option of another policy available you had to pay a penalty/fine or whatever they call it.

The ASR rate was better than other companies - now they fixed that.

I guess they will do away with our 12 hour windows next. Though I understand now everyone even has those.

I was disgruntled when I worked for MQ, but they did cut our wages in a more gradual manner.

This is a HUGE percentage and right here going into the holiday season. --

We are all going to have to hit it harder to make any money at all. You think work is short now --- just wait.

My, aren't we the Holy One. Talk about judgemental and
condescending. What makes you think you know c_p about everything? I didn't *settle* for anything, honeybunch.
Holy cow..$900..they obviously are not contributing to their employee's insurance.
That is just outrageous and one of the worst I have heard being offered. At that rate, they can go get their own plans for half the price. I had applied but never mind..I pay $360 a month now for family insurance and 9.5 cpl..so forget them..
Holy Cow -- all 3 of my accounts have work. One even OT. The secondary (sm)

one  had been particularly low for weeks now and today there is a massive quantity.  I wonder if maybe that hospital was trying out another service and just sending us a small amount. Whatever the reason, the work, at least for now has picked up greatly.

We are having KFC for supper so I can get in there and get a few of those OT lines while they last.

Hope everyone else is having good luck with their accounts also.

Holy crap, that's awful. This has all be enlightening. I'm doing more reserach,
nm
Holy $&@! No wonder it is not cost effective to do VR. I make double that sm
for VR/ASR at WMX.
Holy Brown Stuff. Is that reliable info? (nm)
.
OSi pays on time every time exactly what was quoted on job offer.
Someone is getting really confused here. OSi does pay on time. Pay has always been in accordance to my time sheet that I fill out. If OSi pays only if their accounts pay them, then I must be on one good account that always pays. This is not in any fine print of any papers I have received.
PRIVATE?
Not these days. Many MTs are also MTSOs, so I wouldn't count on PRIVACY wherever you intend to go with this. As both, I would be willing to share what I know with my colleagues if I felt it was to their benefit. Multiply me by many and there goes your site of shame. Good luck to you too! Hope you can CYA sufficiently to avoid problems for yourself. You should be nicer to these MTs. They help pay your salary. Maybe MTs should do away with recruiters? Too many middlemen drive up the price and the providers would benefit from the absence of all the middlemen in all areas that try to get a piece of the action in their practices. Maybe without you all it would benefit the greater good. Something to think about, eh?
Maybe our cut was to buy them a private jet
X
Private..not
I meant to take out the name in ALL of the places. It is not a private e-mail. Every employee got this e-mail.

I have every right to warn people against working for an employer who BREAKS THE LAW. I have PROOF to back me up on everything I have said this company does!
Wow! I pay that much for my own private plan.
d
private insurance
My husband is trying to change careers so I went looking for a new MT job instead of being an IC since his new career takes 6 months for the insurance to kick in. We are going to check all our options but I believe we will go private instead of spending nearly $1000 a month on it
You can get a private policy for less than that and probably
better insurance too.   At that price I don't think they are absorbing any of the cost, so it really isn't a benefit.
I sent you a private email.nm
/
Get a private policy. You s/b able to get
a very good policy for half that.  Call local agents in your area and get several quotes.
Have you tried getting a private insurer to
nm
You mean even on private computer?
z
Why not just get a private policy? Unless you have
pre-existing conditions you can get your own policy that may be cheaper than what you can get through work and then you aren't tied to a company for insurance only and you don't have to worry about a lap in insurance if you change jobs.
Private group? Where?
Sorry, I know I must have missed something..haven't been here in a while. Is there a private TT group and where? TIA
Where is the TT private board?
has been down for 3 weeks and just saw the thread about it way down on the board.
private board
i've only been there about a year, but there is not one that i am aware of. sure wish there was.
I am as well. You can e-mail me private
if you like.
Boy, I'd be happy to take over that private account if you want to get rid of it!
I'm sure that is not the one you'd want to get rid of though!!
Get private insurance. It is probably cheaper
and better than what company offers.
send me a private email
I don't discuss this company on the board and you will find few who do.
Does anyone know if JLG employees have private groups or something? (sm)
See almost nothing in the way of posts on any other board.  Working there PT and would like to meet some other people from there.
Private equity firm in NY
Culbro LLC private equity firm in NY, is new partner for OSI.
I can get a private policy for a family
of 4 for about $400 and that is with very good coverage.   We have no pre-existing conditions though and no chronic medications.
Ykes, I have a private policy and only pay $160/mo. nm
x
I'm an IC and have private Humana coverage
It's $99.05/month for just me. This includes $35 copay for dr visits ($50 specialist visits), $1535/55 Rx, depending on what level the medication is, $75 copay for ER visit. It's a PPO. The only really bad thing is that there is a $2000 deductible, but that's only if I have to be in the hospital and hopefully that won't happen. I'm 29, have never had a lapse in insurance and have no health problems though. You can go to ehealthinsurance.com and compare rates for private insurance if you're interested.
Is there an MDI private board? There used to be 1 long ago, but
I don't know if it still exists.  Thanks.
Does TransTech have a private board? NM
