It is not FutureNet's fault for the problem with workload..sm

They have a priority to their clients - get the job done as quickly and professionally as possible.  They had hired sufficient amount of employees many months ago and was told that everyone was not helping out like they should. I, for one, happen to have fallen into that category due to family illnesses and some problems of my own.  So they were forced to go out and hire enough people for coverage.  I was not one to complain, because I had no right, about the overhiring.  The work was there and we had a chance to do it.  Bottom line - everyone was not doing what they were supposed to be doing for one reason or another.  So it was our own faults that the overhiring or whatever reason it was.  This time I am not letting that happen.  I don't know what has changed the circumstances for their to be plentiful amount of work lately but I like it and I am going to do everything in my power to keep the work going steady and not be delayed.  We all have to do that.  Actually instead of complaining about them we should be putting that energy into our work and we would see a difference.

Otherwise, they are great!  They understand problems when they occur.  Also, pay has NEVER been delayed or wrong in the whole year I have been with them.  They are professional and always there to answer any questions that you need.  QA gets back to you if you request a report to be sent to you for future reference.  And the staff that they have to coordinate everything is NOTHING BUT THE BEST!

So, if you are complaining about them I feel that we would have never been in the situation we were for the past several months if we ALL had not done our job like we should have.

Again I, for one, feel like I had let them down somewhat, even though most of my problems were uncontrollable so I am now going to show them that I can be the dependable MT that they once hired.  Let's all work on that together so we won't have this problem again.

Not being rude with the above post - just hoping that my co-workers will work together so we can have plenty of work but get done ontime.  Hope no offense was taken.

In my experience, the potential for
errors is much higher in VR because the MT isn't directly inputting each word & can easily overlook mistakes, so you have to QA them much closer which makes VR more time consuming in my opinion.
Maybe potential applicants
will respond to the ad by pointing out the apparent history of nonpayment. We can deal with difficult aspects our jobs; we CANNOT tolerate working without timely pay.

I agree with the other poster- if there is even ONE legitimate IC/employee posting about nonpayment, an MTSO shouldn't be allowed to post job openings (until issue resolved).

Attention potential new OSi employees
You have to be an OSi employee for at least 6 months to be eligible for holiday pay, on top of all these other new guidelines. If you are thinking about applying at OSi, forget it - or you could be stuck working every holiday that is coming up WITHOUT HOLIDAY PAY.
Please dont be a potential SPIdiot. sm
Please find somewhere else.
Transform has great potential, but...
they pay on a tiered schedule and unless you do over 18,000 lines a pay period you make less than 7 cpl average. They offer PTO, which is a nice bonus. Manager who lives in Florida of a hospital account should be avoided as she is rude to many of her people on her accounts and nitpicks some to death and then lies about it. Pay is on time. Vscript platform is a bit on the tedious side, but it is WORD based and you dont need other word expanders. A very select few ( 1, maybe a few more) coworkers have preferred status and do what they please on their account as far as which work to do.

I don't think I would ever go back. For the owner to allow such things to go on and on and on.... hard to have much respect for him anymore.
Potential is good if there is plenty of work to type. sm
Things were great when I first started, and the pay was great.  The work on my particular account started to slow way down after about 5 months, and thus the pay, too. Just be prepared if that is to happen.  I do wish you all the best though.
You aren't wasting your time, you're investing in a potential "yes!"
As to why you don't get a response, it might be for one or some of the reasons below, or none of them:

a. You don't meet clearly-stated qualifications. I delete every resume or application that doesn't meet standards required. If you can't follow instructions, don't expect me to take time out of my busy day to spend time on explaining this to you.

b. You're an Indian pretending to be an American. Again, I'm not wasting Keystrokes on you.

c. Your application is filled with errors. Maybe the dead silence from recruiters is a message to go back and review what you've put out there.

d. Maybe your application got overlooked. It has happened. Email the recruiter. If you don't get a response, review a, b, and c above and e below.

e. Maybe the recruiter is swamped. There are days when 10 hours will fly by and I've hardly had time to breath. There are applications to look at, resumes to review, tests to score, interviews to schedule, paperwork to complete, interviews to do, reports to file, fires to put out, and someone has to beat the tech people/MT supe upside the head to get them to call an irate MT, who feels that YOU are responsible for her every woe and calls 6 times a day to tell you about it.

From a recruiter POV, don't put your experience on page 4 under everything else you've done. I don't care that you work in the church nursery, or that you drive bus, or that you swept floors at Mitzi's Kut n Kurl. Don't make me wade through all that to find out if you can do the job I'm trying to hire for. I suspect I've tossed good resumes because I don't have time to read someone's life story before getting to the information I need. I also don't want to know your parent's names and professions (why do Indians do this?).

So, if you don't get a response you can either call or email, or just move on. It's not necessarily a rejection of you, but rather the reality of a busy society.

Workload
I work at Cymed and I have never run out of work. Do H&P, consults, DS, etc. for a hospital account. Not sure if it depends on your account or the office you work out of, but I have always been able to get my lines in. And they pay on time, direct deposit, which is always GREAT. Good luck with your decision.
MDI-MD workload
I honestly have never run out of work with MDI (2+years). My primary has been quite busy. The owner told us they had 3 new accounts starting in April, so I would guess that is what you are waiting for. I'd give it a while longer--they really are a great company.
How's the workload there?
It seems I keep hitting walls with companies that don't have enough work for me.
workload
I also work for Scan.  I don't think there is a shortage of work.  It seems like she is always asking for people to work and when they don't she has to adjust the amount of work that comes from the client. It's like people want to work only when it is convenient.  I personally thnk she should get rid of the ones that don't do their required lines and find people that actually want to work.
Thanks, TT...How about workload?
I would rather sacrifice a little in the pay department in exchange for a reliable employer. Is there always plenty of work?
Workload
I don't know what region the OP works in but I have accounts in three different regions and there has not been a no work situation in many months. usually they are asking people to work overtime. Sometimes it might be light for a day or 2...Like last week (not in my primary) but I saw in my secondaries that work was a little lighter than usual but I figured it was people taking the last vacation of the summer as I know in the south and west kids started school and here in NY college started this week. This week, back to OT.
Ever changing workload
If those people had any clue what they were doing, things would not be the way they are.

Have you ever worked for a company who suddenly sends out an email that says -we got a new acount- -it's already been added to your pool- -here are the account specifics- ...and has done this repeatedly with no warning whatsoever.

No human can keep all of those account specifics straight. If they had a brain, they would divide up those accounts and lessen the number of accounts in the MTs pools. In other words, if there are 100 MTs, put 3 accounts in 50 MTs' pools and the other 3 accounts in the other 50 MTs' pool. Does this not make sense?

They are so thoughtless and inconsiderate...will assign jobs to you without telling you or asking you if it is ok to do so, and then will send an email ordering you to stay on the system until you have completed all jobs assigned to you.
Unbelievable! I'm outta there as fast as I find something else. Hate it...hate it...hate it.

How's the workload at QT this week? NM

Not a good workload at all EVER
This company overhires too.  All the good dictators are assigned or MTs choose those over the hard ones.  All the crap is left.  They are flexible, but as the saying goes, early bird gets the worm and if not, you WILL not have work.
Is the workload picking up at MDI yet? nm

Transcend Workload
I've been with Transcend 5 years. We get 4-hour updates on our individual accounts including the number of jobs available as well as the number of MTs assigned to each account for that day. I just checked. There are 20 jobs to be transcribed with a total of 12 MTs available to transcribe. Do the math. There is never enough work to keep your benefits for full time.
One word, they do not monitor their workload
Simple thing to do, then everyone would have enough work, but they refuse. You will never have enough work, they do not care, they just want the work done. You are just a number, they will promise you the moon, and definitely not come through.
Oh great, just what I want to get rid of. I am looking for a steady workload. nm
:
I agree with what you said, high workload
all the time. I could work 24 x 7.
Yes, editing (Escription) workload has been very low.
I agree with you there and if that is what everyone is talking about, yes definitely. The rest of the accounts are not slow. However, Transcend does have a lot of editing for people that want to edit. MDI doesn't specialize in it, so when Escription is slow - there is not a lot to fall back on.
Low workload 70% of the time and was told

NM

I meant a consistent workload.
Sorry, it's been a long night at the computer. I should have caught that.
Are there any companies with consistent workload?

No matter how many accounts I get, there never seems to be enough work and now, with the holidays almost here, all of my accounts are picked bone dry.  Bah humbug.

Has the workload at MDI picked up for anyone? My accounts are still really low. nt

No outside income
I do support myself and my child on my MT pay only. I work for a wonderful company, which I will not name because a lot of people on here always have bad comments to make about them, paid by the gross line and can do about 2600 lines in 6 hours. It is just a matter of finding the right company and, for me, having the right attitude. I know comments are going to be made that no one can produce that many lines in 6 hours but remember, they are gross so you have to take away 25-30% of the total line for cpl.
income
I have not made that little of money since the first year I got started doing MT. You consider that good money??? If I made anything close to under $30 an hour I would consider it a very bad production day... I am not trying to brag either. I am just amazed that in this day and age and for what we have to deal with day in and day out, that $24 is good money.
My income is way, way down
due to lack of work, and I see so many people in management resigning and I am worried.
MT IS THE ONLY JOB WHERE INCOME...SM
decreases on a yearly basis, as opposed to other industries where your salary is supposed to increase with each year of experience.
Friend is with them. Workload is very inconsistent, even before the holidays. nm
s
High turnover of MTs. Inconsistent workload. SM
I have a friend who works there. I've resisted the urge to join her because she hates it, but it pays well. The owner can't seem to manage workflow and threatens MTs with cutting them off if they don't work extra. Now that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? I don't need the hassle. Proceed with caution.
income the first year
So true. I have been saying that for the last two years!  All we heard about in class is how much money we could make and how many jobs there were. They forgot to mention that those figures pertained to experienced transcriptionists.  I just completed my first year working for a local practice and will probably make about $10,000 after countless hours in front of the computer.  The truth is you go to school for a year or two, and when you get out, you will continue to be schooling for quite some time.  It's several years of investment to actually start earning a real income. I am just ready now to feel confident about taking on additional work, and my goal is to double what I did this year by this time next year. More would be great, BUT I have learned to be realistic.  I wish the schools would be honest about the investment involved.  I like what I am doing, and I feel like I am at a crossroads where I am choosing to continue to go forward, but it's been hard to hang on financially to get to this point. I have other work that I do that I actually thought I would have been in a position to give up quickly after school. Students should be given a realistic picture of the time and investment involved, so they can make an educated decision about going forward with the course.  But, I doubt that will happen.  I think enrollment would drop substantially.
Umm, sales tax is different from income tax
sales tax is a tax added onto goods sold.  Income tax, Social Security, Self-Employment tax is different from sales tax.
Six figure income??? sm
Billers and Coders post says six figure income......yea, right!!!   Same post several times.......looks suspicious to me.  Maybe if you owned the company, you could get six figures....
60K middle income?
Heck, I work for a small community hosp as employee making $35K, which is middle income in rural WI.
Isn't there an income limit that you

can make and after that you have to pay in?

My gram worked after she started drawing, and I'm pretty sure there are income limits on this kind of thing.

Dictaphone controls Transtech workload, for the most part.

If you search, you will find plenty of recent info on Transtech.

I meant your WORK or WORKLOAD. Gads, need more coffee!
x
did you mean to say state income tax instead of sales tax?
taxes for the people who live in those states. I believe all other states require income tax to be withheld for the state it is earned in IF the employer meets the qualifications of the employee's state of residence.

Another good reason to ask a tax specialist.
Never mind. I see that they don't as Florida has no income tax. nm
s
Average annual income!
They all have lines and Keystrokes and little formulas but the average annual income tells it all.
Take out 25% of your gross income every week. sm
As an IC, your tax base is usually 25-30% of your gross income. That should cover all taxes, including state, Federal, and FICA.

Been an IC for 20 years now.
Do you have a second income or can you live on what you make?
I can't live on 2K a month. If that is what you are making, then it is not enough for most of us. Hope you are making more, though since it would give me hope.
You are 100% correct, my income is "extra"
therefore I am in a position that allowed me to decline a job that doesn't work out for me. That is not a slap in the face to you! I hope you were not accusing me of not caring for others because I declined a job. They can have it, I declined, remember? People are really getting off the point here.
Not correct. I have to report the income of my ICs to the IRS. I need either a SS# or a tax payer

ID#, the ICs choice, but that income has to be reported somehow.  I am sure not going to claim it as my income.

I left Amphion for TT and doubled my income
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You file a Schedule SE on your profit income.
and you pay social security and medicare tax .  While you have to pay the full amount on the social security tax and medicare you can deduct half that amount to your adjusted gross.  I really need to find out more about this because if I have been paying too much on my social security tax I really want to know.  Does anyone else know about this?  Are there any IC contractors who are not paying social security tax or only paying 7% as you would as an employee and not an independent?  Perhaps it has to do with how you set yourself up.  Thanks for any info....
Do you find that you are able to earn a good income with them?
Do you have ample work, or do you often have to resort to MT work to fill the time?
