Howdy! In the last year, I applied and got offered jobs at a minumum of 10 companies

and not ONE single place checked any references - not 1.  Even the one who said they would, Diskriter, never made 1 call. Do you feel lucky??

Two companies have offered me jobs. sm

Does anyone know about Intellitype or Fast Chart?

Fast Chart seems more professional.  They said Instant Text doesn't work with their system.  Has anyone tried to use it and succeeded?

Intellitype seems more laid back.  Did I read correctly that I submit an invoice for payment?

Any knowledable feedback is appreciated.

Are you guys for real. Where did you these jobs?? I thought I had applied at all ES companies and
not one paid that. I must have missed some.
Offered me as well but when I applied back

I applied too and was offered a position...
I really think their accounts would be a great fit and also my feel for the atmosphere at this company, but I'd have to start out at a rock-bottom rate, so I'm passing it up.  I may be sorry, but I'm just not going to stoop to that low a rate even if it does increase rapidly.  I'd still be losing out on money I could have made someplace else.
I had applied but they offered 7 cpl for 14 years experience..I said NO...
That's about all I know. I cant remember what kind of work it was either, but I wouldnt do clinic or acute care for that low pay.
The reason I ask is because I am new and I applied and I got offered a "job"...
but I don't know if they are legit. Again, why would the post be removed? The offer from 'telecommuting' came from Excalibur Remote workforce job services. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
So far, have been offered 2 jobs
Don't know whether to stay or try one, Transcend OR SoftScript so far, still waiting on WEBMEDX.
I have only been offered jobs
at Transcend and SoftScript so far, and I don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I agree that it is pretty scary at the Q, but I don't want to go into a worse situation. Everyone keeps on saying how bad Softscript is and they can match my pay pretty much, but Transcend was less than what I make now, and don't know how easy their platform is.
yes, we were offered jobs as production MTs
;
I applied last year, was hired, and then
the recruiter had a family emergency and I never heard from her again. I got tired of leaving messages for her. Looks like this is the norm for this company.
It seemed like I applied about a year ago and they said it would take about 1 month for the first
check to arrive. That was the turn off point for me. I could not financially be without a check for a month. I know others have no problems with that as they are a second income etc..and things may have changed by now.
I went through this last year. I was offered

a position and accepted, an acute care account doing all Ops.  My company was having issues and I thought I needed to make a change, but I was scared of a change.  I had been at the company 5 years, had easy platform, easy lines, comfortable with my dictators, plenty of work, etc.....   I called the next day and told them I decided to stay where I was.

Fast forward 6 months and my company lost my account, which was major one and not enough work to go around, plus the company had been telling us lies and were very unethical when all details became known.  At this time I had no choice but to make a change.  I did not contact KS, but went with another company.

It has been a bit of a struggle having to learn all the new stuff.

My thoughts are if you were happy where you were you wouldn't have been looking in the first place.   You either have to accept the difficult situation at current position or make the change where things will be rough for a couple of months, but you might be better in the long run.

I know how hard it can be having recently gone through it.

I was offered a job there last year...
and they offered me .85 per 65-character line, but it was not in the field I type in, so I turned it down.  They were very nice to me and always called when they said they would.  There was a minimum of 1,000 lines per day/5,000 a week when I looked into it last year, I don't know if that has changed any.  And then there is an incentive schedule for more lines, I think they increase your pay by .01 cent and so forth for up to 2,000 lines per day.  They pay twice a month, direct deposit.  They do deduct for transcribed errors/error values.  I can't remember the platform they use...I know it is one I have not used before.  I hope this helps.  Good luck with them!
I was offered 9 cpl, but that was about a year ago and
I've heard they're really going downhill since then.
howdy
I work there also. Both of you can feel free to email. I love that they leave ya alone to do your work but it can get lonely!!!
It is a matter of ethics. I have been offered multiple jobs the last
year and have turned them all down because they offshore.  I stayed where I am because they didn't offshore.  TAT was a problem and I was getting weary of having to work every weekend, even though I did my lines during the week and then some, but I have days where I'm short 300-400 lines.  Do you think they got qualified MTs by going to India?  I have done QA on a trial basis on offshore work and I have seen the quality that comes from there.  If they are going to have to do 100% QA, they can't they do a mentoring program or take a newbie fresh out of school?  I've quit at least one job (non-MT) due to the unethical practices of a company.
I was offered a position about a year ago
and did not take it as you had to be on call every third week at night with a pager for stats.
Minumum hours for FT

IMHO, I think if you type 15,000-18,000 lines per pay period, you should be allowed to maintain full time status even if you type less than 40 hours.

Transcription is not easy on your eyes. When you work in the office, you can get up, move around, stop to smoke if you are a smoker, etc. No one monitors that you are typing 40 hours. This should not change merely because you are transcribing at home.

Webmedx did a verbal test when I applied last year (sm)
The tester/interviewer was very pleasant and apologized for poor sound quality due to her using a head set (which she continued to use) during the testing. You could barely hear her and I had a bad feeling about the quality of transcription from this and turned the job down.

In NY or Georgia? I never heard back from the NY one when I applied last year. nm

It's been about a year since I had applied but I passed because of no holiday or PTO time.
Things could have changed. I thought it was a little ridiculous to offer employee status yet you were not entitled to vacation pay and had to take it on your own dime but they assured me that they were very accommodatingto vacation requests. I would guess so since they weren't pay for them LOL. Best thing to do is ask a recruiter. Again, companies change their benefits all the time, especially when they see something isn't working or they can't keep employees. There has to be some incentive, don't ya thing??
I was offered 8 cpl last year, experienced. Didn't take it. nm

I was offered a job with MDI a year ago before I was hired at Keystrokes - SM
They told me that I probably wouldn't want to leave my other job as I probably wouldn't have enough work, and that the account they would put me on was VERY heavy ESL and needed unlimited long distance. That was a big turn off for me! I then accepted a position with Keystrokes right after that, and a year later I'm still glad that I did!
I was offered less than 7cpl this year with 10+ yrs experience.

Don't know but last year offered 8 cpl w/sps from 1100-1400 lpd. Then went to 8.5 if consistently
s
Pay offered last year was 8 cpl/w on 1100 lpd. Some posters said they lost all their good accts
s
A year ago, I was offered 8 cpl for experience and I needed my own Word 2003. I turned them down. nm
s
This is true..Put it this way. I made $45,000 this year but worked 3 jobs and at least 60
hours a week and sometimes up to 80. I have no desire to do that anymore. I'd be happy with $35,000 working 40 hours a week. What a dream job.
This seems to be the trend now. I have had to change jobs 3 times this year
due to this very fact.  I'm at my third one now, and it is still happening.  I've decided to just work 2 jobs. One part time and the other supposedly full time, but it is like a part time.  The only reason I am staying at the third is because, I need the insurance, and changing between jobs before the 90 day probation has landed me without insurance, as I have had to change jobs before the 90 days are up.
Which companies? I've applied to the one OP mentioned
x
Yes, both of those companies have enough jobs
For all US MTs, right?  They can hire us all and pay us 9 cpl to keep the work in the US?  Honestly, I don't think so, sorry.  I understand what you are trying to do, and good luck with that.  I just think it's too little, too late.
not all companies post jobs here -

why bother being so rude.

There are still plenty of jobs here, but because companies
are competing against companies in other countries (even if the work is inferior) are stuck.   Twenty something years ago I was making 6 cpl/gross line.  I had no experience, no schooling, basically self-taught and on-the-job training.  Today, 20 something years later I'm making 8 cpl/gross line with less benefits.   If we didn't have to compete with India we might have a better wage and benefits.
companies or the actual jobs
Do you mean keep a list of companies that you work for or the jobs you work on. Any company that i get info on i save so that way i have it if i need to find another job.
Wonder why these companies post jobs

with low line rates but requiring years of experience.  Who out there is desperate enough to fall for this?  Maybe they should try an overseas job board somewhere.

Fifteen years experience here and also offered 8 cpl as a max at multiple companies. This biz is
going down hill fast. I remember making 10 cpl 10 years ago and that was cheap..Only profession I know that has gone down in wages rather than up. Very sad. If you offered 8 cpl..take it..
I have spoken with different companies from the MT Jobs web site and all
have said they are giving priority to the Heartland employees that have been displaced over someone just window shopping.

They could apply with any of these companies and just put HEARTLAND EMPLOYEE in the subject line and get considered before anyone and they really do not need AAMT's help or a matchmaker company. They can do it themselves. AAMT is one of the reason why they don't have jobs.
Agree. Sometimes I think these companies are just getting jobs done for free. (NM)

Inquiries about companies, jobs, etc. (PLEASE READ)

Please ask about specific companies.  If you are looking for a job, see the Job Seekers board.  There are literally hundreds of job advertisements.  Each one is very descriptive and each one has contact information.  Please research for yourself.  Ask about companies by name but research for yourself.

If you wish, we have a free resume bank for you to post your resume on.

Please do not post asking for good companies or companies that only do certain types of work:  Look at the job ads on the Job Seekers board.  This information is all provided there.

If you have problems or issues, please let me know via email.

With so many IC jobs/companies, would think MTs are buying insurance outside

Why do companies advertise for jobs if they have no work?

I lost my job with a big offshoring company a couple of months ago.  I knew it was coming so I started applying for jobs and sending my resume for posted jobs.  The company that hired me responded to my resume submission within 2 HOURS and I was hired the next day.  They had an immediate need, speciality I love, good pay.  Now, a couple of months later I am getting calls and e mails from companies that I applied to months ago.  One recruiter said, I don't know when we received your application, it was probably 90 days ago.  During this same time period I have seen the Q advertise twice, claiming they have steady work (????)  Of course, after reading posts here I would not even consider any offer from them.  A lady from Spheris e mailed and ask that I let her know a time I could interview some time in the next several weeks.

I don't get it.  If you do not have work, why are you posting jobs?  I would consider this a big red flag.

Are most part-time jobs with companies a few hours every day or are there
jobs that exist where you can work a few days during the week? If you can help, thank you!
Jobs being sent to India - good companies who don't outsource
I've been working for a company for a few years now.  This company has started to remove several job types with greater turnaround times to India from our exiting accounts.  There was not enough work over the holidays to get in all of my hours (I know work is normally slow then), and this trend is still continuing.  We used to have a primary account and a secondary account as a back-up, but now I'm working on at least 5 or 6 accounts just to have enough work to complete my 8-hour shift.
Any companies offer QA/Editor jobs (employee status)
I currently work as an Editor (IC) for a company that pays a rather low hourly rate ($12). I can only be considered for an increase after working 6 months if I average 300+ lines an hour(to $14). Compound this with the fact that there is usually no work.

I find it impossible to do more than 300 lines an hour while providing feedback therefore, I will never get a raise! I am looking to work for a company as an employee who pays well (hourly) whether there is work or not. I'm very concerned about not having enough work to meet my financial obligations.
Let's hear from the MTs that love their companies, their jobs and have a great line count
I love where I work, happy with line count, happy with earning potential.  Love being an MT and working at home.  You???
Do all companies require you to work 1 year before you can take vacation?

Meaning you are an employee, of course.  Just wondering if there is any hope out there.  If you start with a company and it turns out horrible, then you have to start all over again, waiting for another year to go by.  I don't want to wish my life away!!

Thanks everyone!

are all companies running low or completely out during this time of year. sm
I have been working for this medium sized MTSO based in Tennessee (not TransHealth) and for the last 2-3 months there has been very low low work-- and guess what, we're expected to get at least 1000 lines to be eligible for Health Insurance paid by employer.... that is 1/2 of it.   Here it is 6 a.m. and there is no work on my 2 accounts.   Is anyone hiring now that has abundant work and pay at least 9 cpl with benefits.  I need another job.
lol They are the 2 biggest MT companies in the world and growing every year.
lol
Those are the same companies I thought about telling her. She has maybe 25 year experience in the
hospital setting.  I will recommend these companies to her.  I think she will be fine with one of them.  The hospital is going voice rec.
Most larger companies do not close for holidays, this is a 24 houra day/365 day a year job. (nm)
