Go back and read her post!
I'm not real sure what else there is to let people in on.
mtroadie - back up and read what I said...sm
That was directed only to you because of your attitude. Try to relax a little :)
I just went back and read that other post
Sadly, those posters are 100% correct. What they describe is the treatment I am getting. I am disheartened. I am looking for another pasture too. They are a terribly selfish company, it is just not right what they do to the MTs who work for them.

This is my opinion based on my experience. I can relate to what others say about SGS.
Wow. Back to read my answers, and after reading
the angry KS lead below, I'm reluctant to apply at all, resume or no resume. I understand being frustrated with posts - but that fighting back on and on makes me nervous. Oh dear. I want calm - I've been on a sinking ship for a long time, and I need calm waters.
Read down the board back through T'Giving.

Read back down this page and the last 3-4 pgs. Mostly negative lately! nm

I read some posts a year or so back (sm)
that it was a husband/wife operation - that the wife was super nice and very easy to work for - no comment positive or negative on the husband that I can recall - that they usually always got paid on time but there was that little bit about being paid when client paid - which is a little scary - I'm of the firm belief that a company - large or small - should have enough cash flow to pay their people - that is running a little too close to the edge for me - but if it is a good company and great platform, good docs - I might try them someday.
No..go back and read your comments on MQ board
they speak for themselves.
Please go back and read "No, you're way off..."
and then read my reply to No. This was not a response to your post, so please simmer down. I was saying regardless of what the man-owners of the company are, we were just sweat shop labor and they never communicated with us anyway.
This was discussed recently. Try a search or just read back thru all the pages to find. nm

Thanks for pointing that out mm
Thanks mm for pointing that out   See we all make mistakes still think it is unfair to drag a Company's name through the mud because 1 person was unhappy, guess that's why we are all different.
And I was simply pointing out that saying
you weren't a recruiter.  I didn't say you weren't a happy employee, most recruiters are, and so are employees that get referral bonuses.  In fact, I didn't even say you were a recruiter.   IMO, it could have been just as easy and more polite to say, No, I'm not a recruiter than to give the snide, condescending remark, now wouldn't it?
How is pointing out one person's heaven is another
x
What kind of mistakes are they pointing out sm
to you? This whole situation seems odd to me.
right, the laptop the doctors use for pointing
and clicking in their data. Hospitals were the first to switch over to this technique.
Doctors even take their laptops along when visting patients in their beds and pointing and clicking in their findings.

Job Description

I just read this by a poster:  No, MTs are NOT supposed to KNOW if a med is generic or brand. HOW COULD WE?

I sat here scratching my head thinking, is this person SERIOUS?  Do they TRULY believe that they don't need to know simple things like if a drug name is brand v generic?

I read so many people here dissatisfied with the gig they are doing.  Getting fired for no reason.  Ticked off at QA when they only had 6-7 errors.

What is it you think and MT *DOES*?  The job is to translate the spoken word into an accurate and coherent record.

That's what the job REALLY is.  And to take pride in knowing you did just that with the emphasis on ACCURATE.

Yes, the pay sucks for some services. We all have the option to CHOOSE who we work for.  If you can't tolerate the pay, then don't take the job.

Your JOB is to produce a chart-ready, accurate medical document.... and yes, Virginia sometimes that means you have to recognize that when the doc says, pulse 142/90, that the report needs flagged; and it might mean you have to look up new cancer drugs or whether or not something is brand or generic.  If you're doing your JOB, then you learn what's brand or not and don't have to look it up; you know just where to go to grab oncology studies; you know what sites/references are accurate for surgical terms.  You DON'T demand that it's not your JOB to KNOW how to make an accurate medical document.

And if your retort is that services pay crap so you give them crap?  Well then please, PLEASE don't complain when you're also TREATED like crap.

PRIDE - it's gotta start somewhere.

just by the description of the job, sm
needing someone certain days and certain hours makes this an employee position!!!!! At the very least, it might be able to be called SE (statutory) but I am not sure about that one. I am sure about one thing, an IC position IS IS NOT!
Not a question of maturity. Just pointing out how grumpy you are. nm
x
No unappreciative - just pointing out that this is one person's opinion. sm
MTSOs and recruiters are not all the same and prefer to see different types of resumes. I know, I am a smaller MTSO, and I do not agree 100% with that opinion, as stated above.
Meditran Description
Hi there. I understand wanting any and all information you can get, been there lol. Meditran is a small family owned business located in Odessa, Texas.  We were cruising along really good all these years, but then two weeks ago one of our MTs was in a horrible car wreck that killed her husband and critically injured her.  She is doing okay now, but as you can imagine unable to work.  Well this took out two of our MTs as her mother also worked for us. Then we had one MT whose computer totally crashed.  Another MT whose step dad is in the hospital with not much time left. So as you can see we are scrambling. Those of that are working have been completely covered up.  The owner is also an MT and has always hired locally.  This has not worked out very good for one reason or another. So she asked me to place an online ad and see if we could get some help that way. This is strictly and orthopedic account that we need help with.  I have worked for this company for going on four years.  My checks have never been late. The owner is very laid back, she is not a nitpicky person, she just wants the work done and done correctly.  This account does not go by BOS, they have their own standards, which we would teach you. I hope this helps answer any questions anyone may have and if there are more feel free to email me at RoseMT37@aol.com.
She is right on in her description of the company
and their management style.  People who lack experience and qualifications are the ones who are promoted.  There was an MT at OSi who was on 100% review for months and months.  She was then promoted to a QA positon, and while in that position was on the easiest clinical account they had.  BUT, the client demanded that she be removed from doing QA on their account.  And then, guess what?  She was promoted to QA manager.  Many, many, many good QA Specialists and good MTs have left.  Like somebody earlier said, OSi is the perfect place for newbies.  It is not the place for MTs with anything on the ball.  You should honestly check out the whole management staff.  It is very comical.  OSi is a joke.  Sorry to upset your apple cart!
Save your finger pointing and tongue wagging.
be defending a company you don't even know, and judging those of us who have no work during training.  Shame on you. Karma comes around.  No one was telling the OP not to work for MDI-MD, quite the contrary. We were trying to warn her that she might not want to purchase a new computer til she checks the waters at this company. No work anytime is not a good thing, no matter how many smiley faces come in the emails.  If you have the luxury of making $10 a day and being happy with that, great, but lots of us support households, and no work is no work is no work. Not a lot of ways to slice it, and judging US because we have no work is just plain old ignorant.
Unbearable is a really strong description
for an account.  I've read similar on other forums, so think I may pass.  Difficult, challenging, OK. Unbearable = a bit scary.
Really?! That's news to me... what's my new job description and what are they paying me?
Since you seem to be in the know....
which one? give a short description and I'll let you know if Im one of many

Found this description of FMLA eligibility

Employees eligible for leave under FMLA are those who:

· Have completed at least 12 months of service with the company, and

· Have a minimum of 1,250 hours of service during the 12 month-period immediately preceding the

commencement of the leave, and

· Are employed at a company that employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles.

What if you've already used FMLA leave before, or you think you may use it again in the near future?

You may wonder if you still have FMLA leave available to you. TriNet uses a rolling 12 months

measured backwards from the date an employee uses any FMLA leave. In other words: you’ll look at the

end date of your requested FMLA leave, then look back 12 months to determine if you’re still entitled to

any of your 12-week FMLA leave within that period.

Disillusioned....Sue's description sounds like the company you just left
except for the rental fee, which they JUST changed recently, and even then it was higher than the one Sue quoted.  I still say you got a much better deal with Amphion.
Control copy, put in in text description, name it then save.

Sounds like the job description for most. As Elmer says, be vewy, vewy qwiet...nm

I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
I read all read all the threads in the "companies" section
of another board, MT Chat, and Googled each one that got positive reviews. If they had a website and a way to apply online, I did so. And that was how I got hired at TRS. They were not advertising at the time. By sheer coincidence I applied to Transcend just before I applied to TRS, and they were not interested in what I had to offer at the time. And now they've got me anyway, since they bought TRS. Interesting how things work out sometimes.

Companies with negative reviews, or company queries that got only a terse I sent you a PM reply, I passed over.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm

happier.  I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company.  I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her.  It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.

I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time.  I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.

Not all change is bad.  This is one company that has changed for the better.

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
I read your post. What do you want me to re-read?
and it seems those are your posts, too, so things just didn't add up and seemed inconsistent. If a place dropped me down to p.r.n. at 7 cpl or whatever and I already had another job where I could get 1000-1500 lines, I wouldn't give the first place a second thought so just couldn't figure out why anyone else would.
Back away from the hoops!! Back away!
I worked for them about 6 months - same mess to get hired - FBI check is right! It was unreal. I was so excited, though - they promised me the moon, and I really thought I had found my new home after centuries with that other company who shall not be named.  What a disappointment, to say the least. All around horrible experience, and I would NEVER recommend them. Certainly they were not worth the hoops at all. Total waste of effort.
To Before You Read This
Girl... you are absolutely right on target and now even after I read your comments, I never knew OSi outsourced. That to me is a SLAP in the face. And you are right about the promotions. I have applied for different jobs and told they were already taken. when they have a job available, they KNOW ahead of time who they are going to hire. and you are right about the "welcoming thing, saying welcome so and so, when we didn't know there was a job available Now that I know they ship work overseas, I am totally OUTTA here. And you are right again, you are NOT paid extra fo holidays, weekends, or shift differentials.
OSI........LOL....... read on.....

OSi will promise you the world if they want you bad enough.  Then once they get you, the promises are null and void.  I see where they are finally following through on their annual raises that they promised years ago that no one ever got....and FINALLY, a holiday incentive?  Wow, they must really be desperate.......I worked for OSi for many years, gave them my all and got nothing in return except heartache in the end.........do what you want, but just be looking over your shoulder every inch of the way and get EVERYTHING in writing!

Don't believe everything you read. sm
Most are staying with MQ.
Did you read where it said
39 hour 7 day work week?? Does this mean we are being forced to work weekends? I only browsed through mine.
Don't believe all you read....
I had never even heard of MTStars when I was looking for my first at-home MT job.  I would have never accepted the position I currently hold.  Every time someone tries to encourage others to apply at "my company" the negative banter that follows only does more harm than good.  Just wanted all to know you can't believe even half of what you read on here.  Mostly just ex-employees of wonderful companies that couldn't quite make the cut.
Sorry, that should read SM above
nm
I can't read it.

In fact, I can't read any posts regarding Transcend.  First time I heard of Yahoo even having a message board about them.  If you can still access it, could you please copy and paste it and email it to me?  I'm very interested in this, concerning the constant turnover & turmoil with that company.  Thanks.

I cant read it either. NM
aaa
Read above! Read below. Just read!
nm
Please read....

This topic has come up before and this concerns me as well.  I saved a post I did on this board a while back.  It's edited a little but the message is the same.  Here it is.

I've worked in many pathology departments, referral labs, and the like. And I'm here to tell you that there isn't a single pathologist that I have met that is willing to go with VR let alone outsource their dictation. NOTHING will convince me otherwise. As for radiology, I am seeing too much of it being outsourced to ever believe it will go totally VR. Besides, VR is an absolute joke! Y'know that old phrase? Garbage in/Garbage out? Well, there are many docs who have already found out that's just how VR works. Just TRY, and I mean just TRY and take out the human element out of the picture (meaning the transcriptionist) and you will have reports coming back that are even worse than what is coming back from India!!!!! A question here....a very serious one......don't you think that if VR was more effective in transcribing reports that all the companies outsourcing overseas would go with VR before they did that? Something to think about. I've been around since 1990 in this field and they have been saying that VR was going to replace transcriptionists back then. Well, here we are 15 years later and quite frankly, VR hasn't even made it past first base yet. The doctors, the naysayers if you will, the big companies, etc. will be trying to find anyway they can to save money, cut costs and so on and the bottom line is, it will NEVER HAPPEN. The Transcriptionist is here to stay. There is absolutely no way you can take the human element out of this picture and have the absolute best quality reports/charts/medical information system on the planet....PERIOD.

Thank you for noticing!! Yes I made typos.. there are LOTS of MTs that make typos on here. As long as Im not doing it on my accounts I don't really care. I DO make this much on ONE account. I charge 12 cpl GROSS. I do have one Transcriptionist who make about 15000/year, so yes deduct this off the 60,000. This is also PRETAX. I really should not have to explain myself. I knew I would get some posts like the ones I got. I will laugh all the way to the bank with my nice FAT checks, while these negative people struggle at their low paying jobs. :)

Happy New Year!!
