I also lost hospital job and have tons of clinic work

Posted By: through all avenues.... on 2009-06-22
In Reply to: I experienced just the opposite..lost hospital job, - still have clinic work, opposite of what you said.

Hospitals can afford the software, clinics cannot....  It will be a long time before any of these clinics can afford the software especially when the health insurance providers refuse to reimburse for services rendered like they should...  When I say clinic, I mean private practice....

Lost job to outsourcing through a large hospital
Just found out my job is over at the end of August.  Have worked for MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, for 2 years and they decided to outsource everything.  Any great ideas for me?

are you doing clinic, hospital, or ER?

hospital/clinic?
Is it one hospital?  30 doctors?  Can you tell me the hospital/clinic name?
This hospital started in July after WX lost another, larger acct.
Currently, the acct is always out of work. Perhaps they will be sending more work WX's way now.
Used to be 7.4-7.7 cpl for clinic, 8 cpl for hospital w/1 weekend shift, 10 if U worked entire

Curious, can you make more money working for a hospital rather than a clinic?
I've never really did acute care and curious?
Anyone happier working for a national versus local clinic or hospital? SM
I'm with a national but from time to time, openings come up with areas places. None are in my own town, but would be 30 to 45 minutes away from home. In the case of at least one of these places, you are required to work in-house just to get used to their system, which I understand, but they say it usually takes a year before being set free at home. Now I can understand that if you are a brand new MT, but as far as just getting used to how they do things, that seems excessive. If you meet the criteria sooner, you can go sooner. It worried me about the length of time. That would put me in a bind with little kids and being away from home on certain days after they got off the school bus.

On the flip side, they pay hourly so I might like that, rather than make next to nothing on some days where the dictators are horrible on my current account. On the other hand, on a good day the lines are worthwhile and I'd come out ahead by LPH rather than hourly rate.

So many things to think about...oh, and another biggie...with this local place I'd get health insurance free for myself (not the family, but I have the kids covered on a plan I'm already paying for myself, along with me on the plan, which I could then drop myself from).

Anybody worked both scenarios and decided the national really was better? I actually interviewed here a year ago but didn't have to decide because they offered it to somebody in-house so I never got an offer. I have 3 years of experience but I still worry I would take forever to meet the criteria to work from home. I guess there are a few that have been there over a year and haven't met it. I don't want that to be me.
I lost an acct with MQ, called the hospital and they told me who had the acct. I chose not to go wi

Tons of work

I don't know what account other poster is on but she should probably check with her supervisor about the no work issue--that doesn't sound like Amphion.

The account I'm on is never out of work and it is always available to work on, overtime included.  I love Amphion and have been at several different companies.

Amphion gives me the freedom to do my work and keeps me in work but they don't bug me to death about work.  They go above and beyond to create macros, request software changes that get approved for MTs to use to make our jobs easier.  I get employee benefits including retirement and PTO and I couldn't be happier. I'm also not bombarded with emails all day like I was at TRS a few years ago.  The supervisors and QA are great!  I was not sure when I started because I was skeptical from past jobs, so I started part-time and kept my other full-time MT job, then made the switch to full-time with Amphion after a few months and I am so glad I did.

If anyone remembers Omnimed from a few years back, they are now back as Amphion.  You really have to just give it a shot to see if they're a good fit.

I have tons of work.. I can't see how you can say that.
What account are you on?
Tons of work currently
Hmmm, I have not had this problem at Amphion.  We have been doing overtime for a long time now, sometimes mandatory, sometimes optional.  I have by no means ran out of work.  I just wanted to give another opinion.  I'm very happy working there and would recommend them.
I have always had tons of work..SM
I would e-mail Lee directly if you are running out of work on you account. She is VERY nice and more than willing to help out. She will put you on a new account, or give you a backup in a heartbeat. She has done it for me and many other people.

Same here. TONS of work. Never run out
They are always asking for extra help, and I'm always glad to give it! I have never even ever come close to running out of work the year I have been there.
We have tons of work!
The account that I am lead on has tons of work. I personally don't use the insurance since I have it through my husband's job, but we did recently get a new policy that I heard was great.
If you want tons of work at MDI
ask for a Lanier account. There is always a ton of work and I have never run out. Plus of which, I love the account!
Still around and tons of work
I have been with Meridian for 4-1/2 years. I haven't had a slow period or run out of work in the last year and a half. Love it there. contact me if you want more info.

Try TransTech instead. FABULOUS company and TONS of work!
:)
First for hospital, then outsourced still on same hospital work
and believe it or not, the hospital was so much easier. Had worked at the hospital for 11 years before they outsourced and then worked another 3+ years for the company they outsourced to. What a difference! The company had so many rules and regulations you could hardly keep up with them all, thousands of them, on the same account, mind you. The higher ups would not leave you alone, constant IMs about any and all. I have gotten to the age where I do not need all that and walked the other week. Have scheduled testing with another hospital for this month. Hope I make the cut, love the hospital work 1000 times more than a company.
I do Rad for TT. Pay is good, tons of work, decent accounts. I know they are hiring a few more
Rad MTs now. I would highly recommend.
Tons of work on Enterprise. Should be last frustrating. Good luck. nm

Keystrokes....very flexible, tons of work, great leads, good pay...
I love it there...
Medical field is 24/7 work unless you work for a clinic or stand alone operation.
I just look at the other cool people working holidays and weekends in the ICU, ER, paramedics, and am glad to be there. When you work in a hospital for a length of time, it becomes a necessary evil to show up at the worst possible times.

Having a family or a life you'd miss from Friday at 5 PM to Monday at 8 PM must be hard and

I think that there is a place for you where they can meet your requirements (M-F). There are plenty of those jobs.
There is lost of work at MDI-FL....
Call the office and ask for another account. There are three starting tomorrow. I just got an e-mail about one with a system called Intrascript.

if you go to work for them you have lost your mind (IC or otherwise)
they are absolutely the worst company in the history of companies. You're better off at McDonalds.
Sure, have lost patience, never lost sense of acting

To those complaining about no work because of the lost account...
I wasn't aware that an account was lost because I wasn't on that account. However, instead of complaining about not enough work because an account was lost, you should be thanking DSG for not just up canning your butts! They could have just gotten rid of the ones on that account, but sounds like to me they tried to move you to other accounts in order to keep you on at the company. I guess if you look at it that way, they don't sound so bad, huh? Everyone is always so quick to look for the bad and bash a company and don't think about the other side of things. I'm sure it wasn't their wish to lose that account, but it sounds like to me they are trying to look out for their MTs.
I used to work there and know people who still do...they have no work on clinic account but if you
are acute care or have experience in acute care you will be fine...
Shouldn't you get to work? They need you typing, b'cuz they have lost all

TransTech has lost work somehow, somewhere . . . or outsourcing/offshoring it !

How could Transtech mgmt be so noncaring of their MT's who provide their paychecks for them???  Yet, they care NOT of the MT's get a paycheck or NOT.

Soon to be gone from TT.  Not what it was cracked up to be from the beginning.

Mgmt and those leads/sups who are STEALING our work should add money to the piecework MT's paychecks every pay period that we make less.  Oh, boy, you are really good mgmt at TT !!!

The sweet talk from most of your mgmt-type people wore out VERY QUICKLY.  What is left from TT for the MT's -- NOTHING but low and no work.

Mgmt, SHARE YOUR PAYCHECKS/GAINS/BONUSES with us lowly *per your opinion of us in reality*  MT's who type our fingers off so that you can GET ALL THAT MONEY for YOURSELVES !

Clinic work

Amphion has both clinic work and acute care.  They are wonderful to work for, and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Clinic work
Can anyone tell me companies that have clinic work?
I did not do just clinic work. SM
I worked at a large teaching facility of 800 beds. I did everything from speech therapy, pain clinic, wound care, surgery, H&P, consults, discharges, physical therapy, letters, oncology, you name it. This was a huge facility. And a teaching facility to boot! I was never rude to the woman or anything of that nature. She actually told me that she lays in bed all day with her laptop doing this work. Maybe she fell out of bed the day I interviewed with her, and it put her in a bad mood. :)

All worked out well in the end because I ended up getting a managerial position that pays $52/year along with incentive and overtime.
I work on it for a clinic and really like it. sm
It took me a few days to get used to it, but the line count is good and I use ShortHand with it. If it is the same clinic, you are lucky. I have been on it for 5 years. They are not usually hiring for this account as no one wants to leave it but my lead told me that they have added some doctors. Good luck !
