I told her I wasn't interested about 3 minutes (sm)
into the call. First off, her voice was so annoying that I just wanted to get off the phone. (I know, that's trivial.) What did it was her saying that since they didn't need to spend as much money on ICs as employees, they could offer me a whole penny per line more! Wow! 8cpl on a crappy platform! I can retire rich!!!!11111
15 minutes after sending my test files I was told she had already selected another applicant.nm

When I worked at a hospital we were told
that if stupid mistakes continued from using expanders, we would not be allowed to use them. That is probably the problem, too many mistakes.
I was told, if you live near hospital, can get better deal with

Hope they're already told the employees at the hospital that they are out of a job. I don't t
they should post specifics like this.

She told me she was going back to MT
Wonder what happened.
5 minutes to type and 15 minutes to edit - some news
I spoke with my friend at the radiology group yesterday. The brass came in and asked why it was taking so long to get the rad reports onto the chart. My friend, the lead MT at the group told them that since they have multiple programs (one for each type of report) that it was very cumbersome to make sure all components of the report were actuallly integrated into the report. So instead of it taking 5 or less minutes to type a cohesive reoprt, it now takes 15 minutes for that same report. They also told her that the percentage of reports needing to be editing has increased by some 10%. They wanted to know what was up with that. She told them that either they go back to straight MT or they hire more editors and IT staff. Things are so rosy in the land of VR, it seems.
Sorry, I was told before to try back of an evening when we run out during the day. (sm)
Didn't mean to step on toes. Heck, as long as they won't fire me for it I will gladly just take the time off.
I was told I'd get a call back too
with TAT, hours, etc.; after hearing such wonderful things about the company, lack of follow through on their part did make me blue.
Yes. I quit and was told I could come back

DITTO every single thing he/she said. I won't go back to a hospital. nm

Is $15.00 per hour without incentive worth driving back and forth to a job at a hospital? nm

About 1-1/2 years ago I tested, aced it, heard back, only to be told with....sm
28 years of experience, formal college education, experience in all areas, all work types, etc., that I would be started at 6cpl, then if I got off probation at around 3 months, I could make 6.5 cpl, and then another six months later perhaps 7cpl. Set hours, you can guess, I passed this one over very QUICKLY, and also informed them nicely that if they wanted truly good, top-notch, first-rate MTs (as their ads say), then they really have to come up with a few more CPL, that what they were offering for someone with a perfect score and all the experience was actually an insult. They nicely said okay, let us know if you change your mind. Yea, right............
Where I work I was told I had to get them in or be put back to PT status and lose benefits. nm

I worked for Keystrokes a few years back. There were some problems but was told they were working on
I had heard that before, too many times to count, so I left.

I came back 2 years ago and it was like night and day.

All of the old problems are gone. They blamed them on growing pains and never denied them. Instead they fixed them. They have my vote!

yes, that doesn't do any good when they only accounts they give you (or even have) are all overflow, they can't just make it appear out of nowhere!!!
Chained to desk
I didn't say you were lying; you may very well have felt that you were chained to the desk. But it's not true that you have to clock out every time you take a break. I don't feel "chained" in any way. I also feel that I'm making decent money. Spheris employs close to 5,000 MT's,and I'm sure some are not happy. Probably most of them are, though, or they wouldn't stay. There are unhappy people in every company, in every business. Not every company is a good fit for everyone, but to call Spheris a "bad" company doesn't make a bit of sense to me. I think it's quite a good company.

Chained 2 desk, I hear...
Figuratively speaking of course - but it stands out in my mind that someone said U have to clock in and out to go to the bathroom - yuck. No way, Jose, that's why I left the office!
Does anyone have the # to Spheris Help Desk? My TWS will not open. TIA
x
As long as it's not a desk clock...
I got that from my (ex) company for Christmas one year. Stupidest gift ever.

When I worked in an office, we played games with prizes and ordered in lunch each day, but since I've been at home, I've appreciated gift cards.

I got a very pretty handmade card one year with a gift card and I really appreciated that.
Yes, supposed to notify help desk
Every time we run out of work (or at least the first time each day) we're supposed to let them know, because it helps them document workflow issues.  So if OP is always out of work at certain times, her supe would be made aware of it through the help desk, and see a pattern.
Tell me about it. A doc I see, his front desk secretary's (sm)
duties include: answering the phone, which barely rings, and surfing the net. That's the easiest $14.00 per hour job I've seen. We're busting our butts for pennies and she's doing practically nothing. Are we insane? What is it with us? Why do we allow ourselves to accept these insulting ridiculously low wages?
I already know 1 person who died at her desk, and
If MT continues the way it's been going, I'm sure those 2 numbers will go up.
If you work for Precyse now, try calling the help desk, if not sm...

If you're not with Precyse now, you work on one of their PCs with everything already loaded.  My best guess would be to say "no, you can't use a laptop", but I never had to use one, so don't quote me on that.

Hope this helps some

Me too! Got 3 foot pedals under my desk - lots of fun!!

My wave pedal would not work..have 2 under my desk.
Had to buy the compatable pedal for Emdat then ended up hating Emdat....
you will if its their problem, call Help Desk, get ticket #.

No one is changed to desk or have to post potty breaks. Probably better than ever,

Thanks for the information..I'm with you.. Not enough desk space or desire to pay a deposit
Probably pass too..
I have 3 pedals hooked up under my desk! :) They're not the problem. Software

Kinda funny, they call themselves DTS America, but help desk calls are from India. sm
Otherwise, though, the people are good to deal with, pay on time.  I only worked part time, and my account was on ExText.  After 90 days, you can have direct deposit.

Diskriter off off offshores - and on some hospital accounts - they have not informed the hospital

In the "old days", the machine on my desk that played the tapes was called the transciber. sm

People who type the dictation are called transcriptionists.  I realize in this new day and age where people would rather google, spell check and guess rather than look it up in a dictionary or other word reference and actually know the meaning of what they are typing, such things make little difference, but it means something to me.  I also have hated the word typist since I do so much more than just copy type.

I know ... pay me and you can call me anything is the predominating theory here.  I just have noted that it is usually the Indian-based company that uses the term transcriber.

I don't hesitate to ask. Have been told "yes", and have been told "no." Never been to

First for hospital, then outsourced still on same hospital work
and believe it or not, the hospital was so much easier. Had worked at the hospital for 11 years before they outsourced and then worked another 3+ years for the company they outsourced to. What a difference! The company had so many rules and regulations you could hardly keep up with them all, thousands of them, on the same account, mind you. The higher ups would not leave you alone, constant IMs about any and all. I have gotten to the age where I do not need all that and walked the other week. Have scheduled testing with another hospital for this month. Hope I make the cut, love the hospital work 1000 times more than a company.
I'm done with this. I did my 30 minutes and then
another 30 more.  I'm tired and stressed and I'm going to bed.  Tomorrow is another day, hopefully it will bring better things.
About the 24.3 minutes
BTW: The 24.3 minutes I typed... the docs were not speaking slow, nor were there a lot of pauses or anything like that. I can type about 2 to 1 that's all it is. In the past I would have gotten about 300 lines or so maybe more. I had these docs say the same things over and over... so it can't be the minutes were slow talkers...still wonder what was up with the low lines.
They did not tell me 10 minutes (sm)
just they were working on it. So,do they call you and tell you its OK, or do you just wait 10 minutes and try again? Thanks for the info this is unusual..I had a feeling this was going to be an ongoing nightmare, but I love the account! thank you.
500 minutes in one day???

Very low pay, they want 120 minutes of dictation sm
per day. I did all ER work for overflow account, never anything else. Pay is once a month, I was IC status. Platform not very MT friendly, had to put in all headers, lots of extras.
It took me about 5 minutes to find better cpl.

minutes converted to pay
I am trying to figure out if a service says you will get say 200 minutes of work a day, paid at 9 cpl, approximately how much that comes out to.  thanks
mine took 2 minutes - sm
all they asked is if I would go to a local drug lab and get drug tested and also if they could run a criminal background check. That's it. Nothing more. That was about 2 years ago, and I left after about 4 months. Too many changes in the company. Toooooo maaannnyyyy
Mine just few minutes
I have been with them for four months and my interview only took a few minutes. I do not remember exact but I know it was no where near that long. Hope that helps!
