I am concerned this may be the company I work for

and I very much would appreciate knowing this information.   I need to look out for myself and perhaps I can get on with the other company.   Since you have proof that the account is being picked up by another company you aren't just spreading rumors.

Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.
how do we work it? Easy answer - work for another company. That happened with the company
I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.
Do I need to be concerned???
I have had mixed feelings about this company for a few years, but am now on an even keel and like working for them.  I really hope this is no big deal.  Please be more specific about your post.  What did Linda do???
Yes, VERY concerned

Concerned?  If it were me, I would RUN in the other direction.   But it isn't me, it's you.  Do you really want to be associated with this company?? There have been convictions for fraud, funneling money illegally through her company by padding or creating billings (together with her husband who worked at Kodak) and kickbacks, quick-change in assets to defraud creditors which the courts put a stop to.  This wasn't just one incident, but several convictions for several fraudulent offenses.   If it were not for a missed court date for filing, they would probably both be in prison right now instead of their 400K home in the suburbs.  They are paying back millions in restitution and damages.

And recently you had to become an employee with a cut in pay, right?

As per posting below this, you really should contact the RBJ and get this news story.  This is your employer!!  You are connected to this name.  You need to get all the facts and decide.

This story came out in my home town.  Locally, we've known about this  for a while and rumors have flown.  It has been difficult at times to be MTSO and not be compared to this company when interviewing with prospective clients.   Perhaps this worked in our favor at times too, because we became better by necessity and prevailed.

You can bet some of her major clients will be taking a closer look, as they should.  Literally millions of dollars in charitable contributions will be at stake for a hospital here she is strongly connected with.  My guess, even a possible governer candidate will be cutting ties with her.

This wasn't a personal struggle with the law as in previous mag article, but involved her BUSINESS, lack of morals and ethics, and greed.   She and hubby got caught and convicted, many times over.

Facts are facts, and they are now in print.  RBJ put the story out there so BOTH SIDES could be fairly told and people could make an informed decision.  You need to read this.   If it hurts her business, then it was meant to be.  Building a business after owning up to these crimes would have been a real accomplishment.  But, building it up after hushing and hiding the truth has its consequences.

It's your choice.  Choose wisely.  Good luck.

Maybe she was more concerned with how ex box
could be construed!! ha!! I certainly would not have typed THAT!! And yes, psych work involves all sorts of stuff that you have to spell correctly. Your attitude explains perhaps the MTSOs reservations - its not a full time job for you and so you rushed thru it. Those are your words of justification. So, even though its a temporary emergency situation, the MTSO needs a pro! Psych is psych, and I would freak if you spelled psyche as well! This is our profession - your profession - words.
do i need to be concerned?
You NEED to be concerned. They're falling apart slowly. You will find that you get no work or very little work. Pay periods have changed. The current pay check was due on 1/10; has not yet arrived and am getting conflicting stories on why. As a contractor, invoice is due in 30 days - if you don't pay your bills in 30 days, you get a late fee, a percentage rate, etc. Are we going to get this - I don't think so. My advice; start looking, people. She's crumbling fast.
concerned
I have been looking for another MT company, but my concern is the company I type for uses a fairly easy platform, but for changes they went through I am not content there as I once was.  So is it hard to leave one company and go with another one if the platform is different.  is it hard to get use to?
I'd be concerned
if you have only been with this company a couple of months and you've already been paid late. That would be a huge red flag to me.
Concerned MT - MW changes

I was wondering if anyone had any inside information on what is going on at MW - the growing lack of work and people leaving/sudden management changes. Any need for great concern on job stability there?

Thanks, Concerned

You should be concerned
I left my previous company because of offshoring, always had at least 98% QA and usually either 99% or 100%. That company had strict QA as well. I have been an MT for 14 years and I am a CMT as well. I ended up leaving Amphion because QA dinged me for ridiculous things which affected my pay drastically. I could not afford it and ultimately went back to my old job. I hate that they offshore but at least I can make a decent living. Besides that Amphion kept running out of work, too much drama for me overall.
Don't be concerned
When I started I wasn't a newbie either but it took me about 3 months to get my lines up learing the software. As long as you are getting closer to your lines each week they aren't going to put any pressure on you because they know every situation is different. I do try to avoid drifting off on the Internet while working and it makes a big difference.
Yes, but I'd be more concerned about
my comments with regard to organization and support - I can't really say what the platform was because they *never* got me started!

Also, one blank in a report with no way to flag it for QA to resolve is too dicey for me - could not get a definitive answer about whether work done with more than one blank or error was subject to not being paid.

More information you can email me privately.
if you are that concerned
over every cotton-picking keystroke being paid for, you are probably not MDI material IMO. It takes virtually no time to search the roster and is hardly worth worrying about.
Maybe if MTs were concerned
with learning more than the bare minimum and shed the we're only supposed to know attitude, things would be different in our industry. No personal criticism of anyone intended; rather just wondering why folks would settle for giving minimum performance rather than wanting to really know something. It's the difference between being a typing machine and an intelligent, thinking human being.....Just sayin.
Should I be concerned....sm
I was hired by a company a couple of weeks ago.  They have installed their software on my computer, but now the problem has come in.  I have sent several emails to training, but no word.  I have sent emails to the lady who hired me, the HR person and training, no word.  Been a week.  Should I be concerned that this might be a sign about this company or give them the benefit of the doubt and wait and see if I hear something next week?  Thanks.
I think we all need to be concerned about all these companies and what they are doing because our
wages are going down the tubes and unfortunately MQ caused a lot of the problems by cutting rates to clients and then padding the bills. Now that they got caught, guess who gets their wages cut because they cant charge more now to the clients. Good old MQ. You can definitely blame them for many of these problems.
Not concerned at all, very happy.
I have been very very happy with QT. They are excellent to work for, love it that they are a smaller sized company that I am well paid at.

As far as outsourcing, absolute not, silly allegation.

As far as the DD issue, our mailed checks came maybe 1 day late if that, so I really don't think it is a money issue, or else how could they have gotten us paper checks so quickly, again another silly allegation.

As far as Christmas goes, a card would be great, but if not, just happy to have a really good job. Maybe the owner is a little frustrated that the main account is not staying in turnaround time and is having to pick up the slack, who knows. I know I don't want to lose this account so I better work hard, but I get a feeling others have a sort of let this go. I always ran out of work at this time of year at other companies I worked at, but I have not had a downtime day yet, and that is the best Christmas gift I would ever have. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I wish all could be as happy as I am!!!
Just had not said anything to date, but getting concerned. n/m
d
No, I seriously doubt it. I can see where you are concerned, but
xx
Nope, MQ still #1 as far as I'm concerned
I've been working for them for many years.  There have been many changes over the years, but from what I learned from interviewing with other companies, so far no other company even comes close
I was concerned about paying my
own taxes - but just had them done yesterday and wow!! i came out smelling like a rose by being an SE and having enough to deduct. I think that is where most people go wrong, not keeping good records and not claiming enough when they do their deductions. As an employee i paid probably an average of 250 out of each paycheck (twice a month) and now paid only a few hundred for the whole blinking year!!
Thanks - now I'm concerned that when you're off
nm
Concerned only cuz look at what they've already

You have no experience as far as I am concerned.
You talk about things in which you have no experience.  You may have sat behind your little desk with your 40 years of experience transcribing the old fashion way, but you haven't walked in our shoes in the modern world, therefore all you're doing is living vicariously through us, which is just sad!   You have this imagined participation and it isn't real and it doesn't help.
You should not feel superficial for being the most concerned about
That is part of the problem with this profession.  We are made to feel that we do this for fun or some superficial reason.  Like we are not serious about this as a profession.  If a man goes for a position, talking pay and benefits is expected up front. Show me the money, nice don't pay the bills.
Nice to know you are concerned about your employees!
I think it's great that you are evidently trying to improve the benefits for your employees. As I'm sure you know, happy, satisfied employees tend to stay put, which is, of course, what you want.

I pay $350 a month for single coverage. I am not thrilled with this rate. In my last job I worked in a medical speciality office, in office, and my health insurance was totally paid. Sigh!

As far as benefits go, I am just looking for what is fair and usual. I am more interested in good communication and feedback from the company so I don't feel like I am just a number. That is important to a lot of us!
I believe this. I had taken their test, which was as far as I am concerned, EASY, yet...
They told me I didnt pass. I didnt even think it was possible to fail that easy of a test but the other poster may have had a point.
Do they seem more concerned with production or hours? TIA

Offered job with MDI-MD using Lanier but concerned about...SM
having access to old reports for reference (not just mine - all MTs).  I tend to rely heavily on referencing old reports for difficult dictators (and I understand this account has its share of heavy ESL).  I am not familiar with the Lanier setup and phoning in to get work and was wondering if someone with experience could give me the low-down on how user-friendly Lanier is (mainly with reference to pulling up old reports).  Am used to Dictaphone - will I be disappointed and slowed down?  Thanks in advance!
considered not concerned.. I think I am asleep..
,
Amphion changing over to VR is unsettling, anybody else concerned about this...nm
xx
The problem now is that I have a QUOTA and that is what they're concerned about. nm
,,
I am a little concerned about this sound problem they have. I am hoping that I can get an
account on DSG1 and maybe there wont be those rerecord problems that they seem to be having I think on DSG2 which I expect is their overflow accounts.  Not sure but I do not rerecord does sound good on DQS.
What is concerned full-time at which companies?sm

I really want part-time but they seem to be few and far between lately for IC..  Are there any companies out there that consider full-time 30 hours?  I could take a 30 hour position but not 40 hours..

Now working for Webmedx and concerned about townhall mtg. (sm)

After surviving for years of MQ taking away benefits, pay, etc.and finally getting out of that I landed with a company I was enjoying.  I keep telling myself this is not MQ all over again, but then I see negative posts about outcome of town hall meetings in the past that make me nervous.

I am putting on my blinders and hoping for the best.  If I hear bad news at the call I won't pass out immediately, I will remember it is April Fool's Day and hope any bad news is just a joke.

I know the entire MT industry is changing and I just hope I am able to change with it until retirement.

Wish us all luck.

not short-sighted as far as they're concerned...
Remember, they have a ton of overseas MTs in India, Philippines and who knows where else. Probably plan on training newbies here who will work for that pay, then they can still say to prospective clients: We have US MTs.
Nice thought, I am sure they has considered this & not concerned much sm
with a merger, they always say no changes (for now) they just need to line things up, placate the currrent MTs into thinking, HEY HEY. I don't believe this is so. Need to make plans NOW- always have PLAN B and PLAN C in all future, all the time. In the end, all this talk will get you no where, not really. Know what MQ did in the Monrovia office after they took over My Office Genie, came and reconfigured the PC system to take off 2 lines per page, yep. Only way we found out was the tech support people The suits will do anything, tell any placating fib. Sorry to be so negative but it is true, human nature, read the newspapers, red magazine, see TV, globally how humans are, more are, than are NOT.
Anyone had any current experience with Milner or Breitner? I am most concerned sm

about the usual things, pay on time (and a decent wage), user-friendly platform, etc.

Must be a small company. I have never talked to the owner of the company I work for. sm
He wouldn't have time. Why would someone talk directly to the MTSO? Most do not know (or care) about the details just the big picture.
Let me know if you pursue this company. I would like to work for a MN company as an employee?
Let me know! Thanks!
Chasing work from company to company - Have any of you ever watched (sm)

5 year olds learning to play soccer?  The ball is in play and no matter what the coahes say ALL the kids go running for the ball.  Maybe we are like that, masses of us going from company to company in search of work.  This company has a new account BOOM here we go.  Now it is out.  Let's go here.

Yep, I think it is a big game someone is playing with us.  Not a particularly funny one either.

What is the best company to go to for IC that is a nice company to work for that has work for you
and also is interested if you want to work part time at some point.
Absolutely not! I work for the best MTSO. I am have been so blessed to work for the small company I

I will share this about the MTSO I work for.  I called her late last Wednesday night after Church and told her I was compelled to help out with Hurricaine Katrina in some way and an opportunity arose for a small group from my Church to go to Louisianna this coming week.  Would she be able to cover my work.  She told me no problem without any hesitation and even donated money for the trip.

And I am sure there are plenty of good companies out there to work for.  To compare us to migrant workers is just not right.

Like I said - it depends who you work for. I work for a hospital at home - not a company. nm
x
I used to work for a company who separated the MTs by work type daily. sm
regret ever leaving that company. we had a max of 4 MTs typing a large training hospital with clinics. i was assigned consults and discharges with consults being my priority. another MT had ops and admits, etc. it worked so much better. we were RARELY out of TAT and each of us were trained on other report types for backup in case someone need to take off. not to mention that we were easily able to learn the ESLs because we got them repeatively enough to learn them, set up templates, etc. much, much more productive for us as MTs, for the company as work flow, and i am sure for the dictator because they got someone who knew them and their dictations well enough to be accurate. i don't understand why large MTSOs cannot comprehend how much more beneficial that would be.
I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to
x
I so wholeheartedly agree with you. Don't work for KS but work for SS - another company bashed
Works GREAT for me and I love SS. I never really care what the negatives are as I have found they are usually people that can't make their lines, don't work the hours they commit to or just overall do not care!
I work for an all-US company and refuse to work for one that offshores. Best of luck to you. nm
nm
Why would you want to work for a company with no QA? Anyways the only company that comes to mind is
I worked for in the past which is Medquist NJ Radiology.
Work PT for a company and noticed something odd. When I work the day shift I get (sm)

actually fairly good dictators, a couple of toughies, but no more than one would expect.  When I do the late afternoon/early evening shift it is like night and day.  I get some really crummy dictators and tons of problem/miscoded reports.

They have said that there is no cherry picking able to be done with this program so I just have to wonder if the crappy dictators can't get to the dictate stations until after 4 p.m. or what?

Nuff said, back to work.  Thanks for letting me air it out.

I work for a company in FL. I pull my work off their
system in FL, so they do not pay state taxes.  I've been there 5 years and they have never paid state tax.   Don't know my state tax code, but since they are in a different state can't see how it would apply anyway.  The IRS hasn't complained.  I increased DH state tax deduction to compensate instead of having to pay quarterly taxes.
