I am on that account and it is not overflow. It is a set volume with sm

a set 2 sites. You really should ask the lead instead of posting on an anonymous site which makes it look bad. Especially when you know as well as I do that this account is one of the best out there. I make great money and great lines.

I think that once it was caught up, which was a backlog created by the in-house staff, that they needed to make sure that everyone has the work they need but that the account is kept in TAT. Obviously there will not be as much work as it was unlimited while behind, but my understanding is that it will still be very busy as we are 100% responsible for the 2 sites.

My main account must have been an overflow account. We would
go several many days of the month where we could not pull work, so we all had to go to secondary accounts and there are very few accounts that could absorb the extra people.
I currently use VXP for my overflow account. Is this the same thing as VPN?
I use a Netgear router with no issues at all.
Doubt that overflow account is enough to

We need an entire facility to keep all the MTs who are out of work -- not just a couple of work types that are overflow.

question about the overflow account. sm
Is it in Missouri? No names necessary, just curious. I work for a hospital in Missouri that is sending some work out because we are backed up 10 days. I suggested Transtech and just curious if they actually listened to little ole me!
No TT overhired for the overflow account
they are putting those MTs on the other accounts.
your company takes overflow or has a primary account
I really have no idea if this applies to your current situation, but when I worked at a hospital and a large MTSO took our overflow, some of the girls I worked with had no qualms about leaving (or perhaps assigning, can't really remember now) the horrible doctors to the MTSO. We had a monitor that showed all the jobs waiting in queue, and they would (or could, anyway) go down the list assigning themselves the good ones, thereby leaving the bad ones to the MTSO. I worked radiology and everything was in-house for that, but I would watch the acute care ladies do this.
Well, I was happy for that overflow account coming on board

It is helping out some. No, I don't work on that account, but I did put in a full shift today.

In fact, the work is picking up on the account I work on as I had a total of 3 full shifts this week. Sure feels funny to work a full shift lately.

Con: Overflow work is cherry-picked from the git-go by the account's inhouse MTs. nm

If KS needs a second recruiter to help with the volume
I would love to be a recruiter. If you guys are in need of another recruiter, please contact me.
Low volume work
Same company, probably. My butt is now shaped like my chair's seat.!!

What's with the low work volume. I know about the feast or famine crap, but this is ridiculous.

I'm getting worried about this company, well BEEN worried about this company.

There seems to be either a severe lack of communication between MTs and bosses, or they just don't care.

Ok, rant over. Thanks for listening.
work volume
That's a good point about time and work volume. I work the 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift and there is usually plenty of work I guess because less people are working at that time.
LOL ... Heaven help us if there is a volume II ... eek. nm

I like them but work volume has been very low.
I have a very hard time making my minimum lines and no matter how many times I ask, I can't get put on any other accounts. If their work load picked up, they'd be great.
Big Hospital usually pay less (volume). Maybe you

If you are really interested, you can do some of your own research.  Sites like those below have business profiles.

or it could be the work volume is just still low BUT
now the MTs figure they can cherrypick since they were sold out.??  That could be the reason, e-mail your leader and ask for them to check for skipping on your account if you keep getting the hard dictators!
once in a while when work volume is very high.nm

Quality versus volume
I feel the need to qualify my statement above. The MTSO makes their money on volume and QA is a necessary evil. The MT makes the bucks, not QA. They are required to have QA to avoid law suits for mistakes and to keep the client satisfied. Quality is something that is missing throughout the land ..everywhere you go, you see this. You can't even get a decent sandwich anymore at a fast-food because quality is not the point..no it is not...volume is the point. Quality be damned!
BREITNER WORK VOLUME?
I'm wondering if the low volume of work mentioned by other posters here is for all shifts or just daytime?  The recruiter recently told me that there is plenty of work and she offered me a full-time position.  Might it be just to have me around when and if they get more work in the future?  Would I be a fool to expect full-time volume NOW if I would be working late second shift?
What makes you think recruiters are paid on volume?
Most that I know are paid salary. Only a few pay on commission.
Had to leave FN due to neverending low work volume. SM
Almost everyone has to work IC if you don't live in California. Liked working there, though.
Why would mgmt contact employees to explain the low volume,
if everyone is able to make as many lines as you do? BTW, I'm NOT the OP, just another employee sitting here waiting for work. Your statement was extremely condescending and rude to those of us who CAN'T make 20K lines because of low volume.
FN is a good company. Work volume much too low. SR pay very poor.

If someone has the experience, the volume and the quality, whole package, they SHOULD be paid well.
Our employees, at 0.08-0.10 per line make $24-30 per hour. That is not peanuts.
Yes, but their internet accounts at the moment are high volume ESLs nm

I wouldn't quit a decent company for seasonal low work volume.
I'd hang around and see what the New Year brings. I wouldn't say that if you were working for MQ, but I would for a company with a decent reputation. If it is still slow in January, I'd talk to my supervisor and find out what her take is on the situation.
Their new pay plan brought me back to newbie wages since I don't do high volume. And the work loa

Thanks. I've only been there 3 months and was wondering. Asked for a high-volume backup. No reply

NC OVERFLOW
Very experienced RAD, ER MT, can train on site in the Raleigh area but prefer to work at home if possible.  Pay by report or exam only.  Can cover odd hours, holidays and weekends for the right situation.
I did overflow for them and there were
horrible.  At our local Kindred doctors that can't get a job anywhere else go to Kindred.  I would get dictation that was 6+ months old.  I was a subcontractor so don't know about insurance.
Does DSG do a lot of MQ overflow?
I worked at MQ and accepted a position with DSG.  After finishing the paperwork, I began to receive account specifics for DSG and noticed that some of those accounts were accounts I had worked on for MQ.  At the time, I just assumed that the accounts had been lost to DSG.  Are you saying that MQ contracts with DSG to outsource their overflow?  How long have they been doing this?
I don't know about MQ overflow but I have not
x
They may be doing overflow. SM
I don't think they are lying, since JMH in Miami sends all their work to India. It looks like they have every hospital account in Miami, Fl.

One thing, though, as far as I know, Diskriter has Broward General Medical Center, but this company may be doing overflow work.

Why haven't we heard of this company before? They sound huge.
NOT overflow
I have worked there for almost a year and it is definitely not overflow work.  I don't know what account you worked on but there is plenty of work on the accounts I work on except maybe the last day of the pay period.  Don't listen to these negative people...
yes, it is overflow
I worked there for a few years sometime ago. They actually told me that most of the accounts they have are overflow accounts. That is what they go after. They had possibly 1 account that was not overflow, but they lost it.
All are overflow. nm

overflow work
I work 20 hr/wk for SPi/CyMed on radiology. They need radiology MTs for Tue-Sat schedule right now. I work Sun-Thur. I have no benefits but I'm on social security and this works gret for me as a supplement to my SS check. I've been with them 1 year this week. I'll be out for hand surgery in a few weeks and I know for sure they'll need somebody then! I also know my supervisor will work with you on scheduling. I work for the Ohio office but I live in South, hurricane alley. Yes, Katrina got me but I have bounced back! I don't know if it's OK to give out my super's phone number, but if OK with admin of site, e-mail me for info. Best regards!
It is also only p.r.n./overflow work
I left a lot of blanks as well.  I'm not so sure I could strain that much.  Being overflow work is tough nookies to find a rhythm as well and I wonder how spaced apart the time would be before receiving the dictation.  Glad I'm not alone as even volume control and slowing down/speeding up was not really helping at all.  Oh well....  only lost about 1/2 an hour all in all.
-Overflow help needed-

Posted By: JMT on 2007-08-31

I am a small MTSO and I need overflow help with neurology and orthopedics clinic notes. Work would be available once or twice per week, for now. I will pay by PayPal per job completed or weekly by snail mail, your choice. Testing is required. Please send resume and pay requirements if interested.

Not all companies are overflow. nm

Yes, it is all overflow - and there is not enough work for everyone! no msg

Plus, they do overflow accounts...sm
Their work is on overflow accounts where they're a partner with a very dishonest and disreputable larger company who has been outed on this board many times for the horrible treatment of their MTs, etc. I would have nothing to do with them. On the account they're hiring for you may work one day and then be pulled off for the next several days, all without pay. It's a push-pull situation and not fair to any hard working MT. All these companies that do the overflow work should be ashamed for not telling prospective employees about this upfront, but they don't. They wait until you've taken the tests, filled out mountains of paperwork, and just Really want to get to work, and then you find out....it's just wrong on so many levels.
Whether or not they only do overflow is irrelevant. Don't you think?? nm

Plus all my accounts are overflow which I
was not told when I was hired. My STM says they are not, but they all maintain in-house transcription departments and make sure that their MTs have work before sending work our way. How can you NOT call that overflow?
Aren't they ALL overflow?
I haven't seen one real account that WMX has - only overflow, which gets yanked away from us everytime the hospitals get slow so that their own MTs have work.

That is the biggest drawback to working for an overflow company.
How do you tell if acct u do is overflow? nm
nm
By not overflow, do you mean they have no in-house...sm
MTs and we do all work types for them? I wish I were on your team. Sounds great.
I also do overflow work for a clinic..
I charge 10 cpl, but I know that their other replacement charges 12 cpl. If it were a specialty clinic (mine currently is family practice and easy work), I would charge no less than 12 cpl. I'm not sure but it may also depend on where you live geographically.  I live in Idaho so I'm sure since our cost of living here is fairly cheap and that would be the standard. If you live in a larger place, maybe you could easily ask for more. Just giving you my input..
I do some overflow for the Ohio office...
I work out of a different MQ office but have been doing some overflow work for the Ohio office. I only work on one account for their office, but it seems to have a lot of work. Not too many ESL docs, though there are a couple of tough ones. With the account I am on, mostly the dictators just speak very rapidly, but with time I've been able to get more comfortable with them.

Good luck to you!
I got hit with router, but they only do overflow work
and we ran out of work constantly. They play favorites big time, so the good work goes to a few people and the rest of us got the left-over garbage. The tech ruined my computer and that cost me a big bucks to get fixed.
Does anyone know of a company hiring for overflow OPs?
I am in the market for a position where I could pick up some work here and there.  I want a position where I would be contacted for overflow work, when the loads get too high.  It could be for any work type, but Ops are my favorite! I have 13 years (full-time acute care) experience.  Just looking for extra work.
I work for a company that does overflow and I have been

with them for 5+ years.  I have never not had any work and rarely has there been a day when there weren't extra lines available.  A couple of times the hospital's system has gone down and they have asked if anyone wanted a a day off, or could adjust their schedule to work different hours than usual, but I think that has only happened twice.    I have a lot of dictators, though I tend to get the same 30 or so regularly.

It all depends on how the contract is setup, if they get a certain # of minutes a day, or if they just get whatever in-house can't handle.
