that anyone who tries using the mouse to edit a document would ever be successful in making any money. It would be to difficult going from keyboard to mouse back and forth without loosing some speed, even before I started VR I was using shortcut keys and IT commands to increase my line count. And you say it isn't proven that shortcuts increase speed...that just boggles my mind any MT that makes halfway decent money will tell you that without shortcuts/expanders they would be broke.
I only know that on my acute care accounts with >80% ESL on a so-so platform (and I have been on several-so I won't call it the best or the worst) with just average dictators (some horrible, some decent, none that great) I can make good money, but if you are just going to come here and continue to WHINE without making any effort to improve your speed....well give me your address, and I will send you some good cheese to go with it. On the other hand, I am going to work my butt off to provide for my family . So yep it is only my opinion, but that is exactly what your posts are OPINION. We will all see things differently, but I am an optimist at heart.
No business/career/field ever stays the same, either try to learn or move on to something else because VR is here to stay. Even the companies that aren't using it yet will be in the near future, I would put money down on that bet.
I am done discussing it on this board though, nobody is really here for help only to cry poor pitty me..., and the few that really do want help will go out searching for it like I did, not expect someone to through it on their laps.

each other because they might share information on line rate, how easy/hard the accounts are and MOSTLY because they do have favorites who get flexible schedules, high line rate and cake accounts and they don't want groups of people emailing each other and discovering this.

I think you have it backwards. There has never been any mass exodus unless you consider 3-4 people a mass exodus. Actually, those 3-4 people might still be with the company if not for a certain someone who egged them on until they quit. This person herself stayed on for another couple of years trying to stir the pot with complaints about fabricated events. This person finally left a few months ago.
Crap happens, no matter where you are, who you are, or what you do.
Transcend is STILL a good place to work.
Too bad so many people don't have the wherewithall to actually work for a company longer than a few weeks before they come to false conclusions about a place and then quit.

I have been an MT now for 7-1/2 years and make 50K. Not sure of how many babysitters do that in 40 hours.

I have a great lead, who is very knowledgeable, kind and even funny at times - and she tries her best to keep things running smoothly, and pleasant. I don't know how the other leads are, but I would at least give them a chance. I've got no complaints.

I was a one of those MTs who made 3cpl. If he denies that they pay newbies this amount...he is lying. If he denies that you have to wait a month or more to be paid...he is lying...unless something has changed.

but as far as these posts go, I use the same initials all the time, so no, I haven't posted multiple times under different names, but I do know of several people who quit this place because of the owners nastiness, and lack of work. Even a QA person quit who was getting paid hourly, in one week she had a total of 6 hours work, nobody can live on that. I was there eight months and they kept promising me work, but it never came. It's landmark and made up of disgruntled ex-MQers.
Can't speak for all MTs but I have been
MTing for about 5 years and looking to get out of this field. I do not want to be an old timer. I have found out that hard work does not always pay off in this field. I worked 7 days a week with this company because I was eager to learn the account, learn the dictators and bring up my line count. When my lines got into the extra money range -- BOOM - here come dictators that were not around previously. I'm sick and tired of the games MTSOs play and don't want to complain about the same thing 25 years from now. The other thing is this - they are looking for people to work the holiday with no incentive. As far as I'm concerned - let the owner of the company work. I'm tired of their games.

Not everyone is smart enough to get out of a terrible work enviornment, and that is why they are still in business.

I have no interest in this company either, but I dislike board bullies who tell people what they should or should not post about. Another pet peeve -- responders with check the archives reply. We can post and respond to what we like -- we do not need people (besides moderators) patrolling these boards. Think Dwight on The Office . . . . you are he!
Can't speak for everyone else, but...
I got fed up with everyone bashing me for making positive comments! I love my job at Keystrokes. I have been here since January and am very satisfied with my primary account and my direct deposit paychecks.
I have answered several posters requesting information about Keystrokes, but, frankly, I do not appreciate the negativity I was shown in response from some anonymous posters. Therefore, I chose not to respond to this post - but I guess I did, anyway!

but I use the cntr I feature where I work and what I see is what I get paid for, this already has headers and footers taken out, and I don't find anything amiss with it. I find it to be very fair and accurate. Guess every company has their own way of what they count and what they don't and is totally up to their discretion.

I was told that my doctors would be about 50:50. That was 2 years ago. I have since added several backup accts that have more ESLs than the original one; but I have yet to encounter one where I had that bad of a time with it. Like the above poster said, you can pretty much figure out what they are saying by looking at samples; also, as someone else said, more than allowed # of blanks, give to QA. I wish I knew what this acct was everybody is complaining about (I'm thinking it might be the one I do). First initial of the place maybe? Can we do that?

asked to go part-time. I basically lost all my benefits when I went part-time though. They worked with me for as long as they could, but we just came to an agreement and that is what I did. I am not sure what others have done though, so I would go to your supervisor and tell her your concerns and see what you can work out with them, as they tried their best to work with me, so they should work with you. Good luck.

Amphion's accounts used various degrees of BOS and some none at all. In fact, there were accounts that required you to capitalize every drug, generic or name brand. They don't strictly follow the AAMT BOS, they follow their own rules, and many different ones at that.
That does not mean they do not speak clearly.

I've never even come close to running out of work. The platform is great, there's a fair amount of flexibility, and the people are absolutely wonderful. Webmedx was just named 2008 AHDI Employer of the Year -- and it didn't surprise me at all!

yourself. There is every arrangement from nuts to diapers in this industry. People need to learn to speak their own experience what happenned, not conjecture. In turn, let people speak their opinion and dont say they're so wrong. I have worked in manyh responsible jobs in m life... in hospitals. Nothing has come close to beating me up like this industry. And I'm working on it!

But I have worked for Keystrokes, and I found management there to be extremely flaky. I guess it depends on what exactly you are looking for. The pay is okay. They are pretty flexible with scheduling, but you will not get overtime there despite the fact that many leads there push for the MTs to work overtime on a regular basis. I'm sure there are other MTs here who work for them and can give you additional opinions.

I get so tired of hearing the discouraging side of this job. I for one am very happy and do very well as being an MT. I make 11 cpl/60-character line, have excellent health insurance (110.00 a month for family), and the flexibility of working the hours I want to. I have worked for a hospital for 17 years, been home now for about 13 of those years. I am an employee and could go nowhere else and make 25 to 28.00 an hour like I'm currently doing. We all need to support each other. There are good jobs out there, but sometimes you have to look for them or make the best of the job you do have.

I doubt SEs will be out with MQ.
I think they probably get very excellent coverage from SEs because there isn't the same schedule/time limitations and therefore SEs feel more free to work as they can.
I'm an SE and I truly hope it doesn't change much for me but, if it does, I will just have to re-evaluate and decide if I want to make that change.
I think SEs may see a changes in the form of base pay rates, shift differentials, etc., all the pay issues but no re-classification as it seems is coming for PT and FT employees. They will probably offer a very attractive employee package for SEs for those who were walking the line about SE vs Employee status.
We will see, I guess.

Ad posted twice with different wording, same number. Both have since disappeared from board. Assumed target was an Indian gentleman. He was very emphatic that it was a scam and did not seem puzzled, so all in all, pieces fit more likely with a trick rather than an accident.

Have you actually worked for Transcend or are you just a doubter? Management is not stupid. They know that without the MTs there would be no company and no profit. Did you have a bad experience you would like to share?

the companies I've worked for only paid an extra $0.0025 (quarter cent) per line for being a CMT.
I wonder if that employer knows that CMT fees & AHDI dues go to fund the special Indian Rate that AHDI and Prometric came up with.
MDI without doubt
I have worked for companies large and small but I have never been treated with such kindness and professionalism as I am at MDI. They have an extremely high standard and are very choosy about whom they hire. They produce quality work. Their tech support is second to none. The QA people are all extremely intelligent and above all, kind. I have worked for the good (MDI) the bad (a large national whichI will not name) and the ugly (smaller MTSOs that could not seem to get their act together for whatever reason). Without a doubt, I would recommend MDI.

a recruiter. I work for Transcend, when there is work. Third day in a row and there is no work. And talking to someone about it - that's a joke, and a bad one at that.
Anyone thinking that first message is legit, keep on looking. They will tell you there is plenty of work, great accounts, great benefits but the truth is there is no work, you may initially have a decent account but plan on them changing you over to another account that is not so great and as far as benefits, there is a good chance you won't meet the minimum requirements because there is no work to be done.

On VR I doubt you will be able to
double your lines. I have been doing VR now for several years and it is extremely hard to double ones lines. I might have done it once in 4 years, not easy although I am told by my company SOME are able to do.

I seriously doubt they have sent work to India. My accounts are seriously low, but I really think it is a combination of the VR and probably overhiring. I am sure we will get an e-mail in the very near future addressing our concerns. Just hope we can all hang in there. Of all the posters on this board, MDI employees seem to be the most cordial to each other, which is rare. I wish the best to everyone at MDI.

they DO have much to prove. I am still very skeptical too. We each have to make the decision that is right for ourself, without tearing one another down. However, do I want to cut off my nose to spite my face? Maybe I choose to go with a smaller company, and they sell out, fold, or just have sorry management etc. I am deciding to TRY and see if they in fact do what they say they will, as far as flexibility, trying to work with our preferences and such. I am opting to go with a company that can likely (though nothing is certain)survive this market, provide me with ample work, keep me in the same accounts, pay me decently, etc, etc. Only time will tell. I can stand on my principals all day long, and then not be able to pay the bills. I am the sole breadwinner in my household and have grown children that may need help too, if their livelihoods go south. If you can stand by your principals and do well, bless your heart, and more power to you. I still HAVE my principals and will fight for them in the courts/legislature. I would lay down my life for spiritual principals, but am not willing to lose my hiney for market ideals.

I keep an eye on the boards, but I certainly don't run to management to report on State of the Boards. If they want to know, they can read it themselves!

and about 20 other people who left OSi a little while back and we are all doing great, couldn't be happier, all working for a great company with awesome people. To be quite honest with you....you are our entertainment!
If things were so good at OSi you wouldn't be on here trying to draw MTs in for them. OSi is over, face it punkin!
