I did 2 weeks ago. My gal was very laid back

and I really enjoyed talking to her.  There was a ton of questions about how experienced in certain areas, you had to rate yourself, and also there was a verbal test, I think 10 questions, thinks like what is hypocalcemia, what MRSA stood for, things like that.  Very easy, had a job offer about 3 hours later.

I did get it back. It took about 8 weeks, though.
back, I did not have the monitor as it had burned out long before and I just used mine. I had to provide proof of where I contacted them and they sent me shipping labels to return that original monitor. They had to research that they had not sent me another one.

Once all that was done, they sent my deposit to me.

They took two weeks to get back to me

Yeah, they took at least two weeks to respond to my initial test.  Then, they do A LOT more testing after that.

I know 1 got back to me about 2 weeks later

filled out and then told me if they didn't get back to me in a week after they received my test for me to e-mail them, and I told them to keep it.

The other thing you may try is other sites besides this one.  Try www.mtjobs.com.

Back to NSA. Have not seen this for almost 2 weeks. (sm)

They must have either added more people or shuffled them around.  You would think I would be losing weight or at least developing some mean, lean curves from all the flexing we have had to do in the past few months.

i heared back in 2 weeks...
Give it another few days to a week. Good luck to you.
Did anyone apply to Lee Perfect when they posted a few weeks back?
I contacted them twice but never heard back.  The position is exactly what I am looking for.  I have been checking the help wanted ads for a couple of months waiting for that perfect job description.  This one had it all.  They were hiring for my preferred specialties, they use EMDAT, and they pay well.  Would love to hear back from them :-(
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
Better yet, go get laid!!!
:{
Soon to be laid off...
Is there a way to find out which companies keep ALL their work within the United States?
laid off sm

Well I am another statistic.  I started at Milner Voice and Data back in June.  Things started getting very slow about 4-6 weeks ago.  I asked at least a dozen times what was going on and got the answer nothing it was just slow.  I even turned down another job because they told me it was going to be ok and this was normal.

Monday morning I talked to my supervisor and she said nothing.  Molnday afternoon I went to get into the system and couldn't get in.  Went and checked the mail before I called them and got a lay off notice in the mail!  What a way to notify someone especially when I had been asking for weeks.

Excuse was that the bigggest account (not mine) lost 60% of their volume when the hospital decided to not dictate the ERs because of budget cut backs.  Because of that, other MTs taking my work.  Apparently 9 of us were laid off.

I understand cut backs if there is no work, but I DO NOT understand lying when I asked and asked and asked some more.  Because of all this, the place that offered me a job, hired someone so Milner cost me a job.

O well, I have an interview tomorrow at 2 with another company.  We will see! Really bad way for company to treat MTs.   Stay away from this company and TB!

Proscript-Laid off sm

Laid off as a result of not enough work..still waiting to hear from them..

Yep, I got the laid off today too
I've been with Cymed forever too. I did double the required amount of lines to edit, typed when needed and worked the shifts nobody else wanted.  No one is safe with this company.  SPi took a #3 company and have run it in the gound!!  I am hoping they will go belly up before they can say what the...
I got laid off yesterday...duh
...
They laid off all US MT & QA employees.
Period. And they sent all work to India. You simply are one of a few ICs they subcontract to do the few reports India can't get to in time. You are not an employee of Cbay as they don't have any US MT employees anymore.... I do find it odd how defensive you are about it though.
Yeah, I got laid off by them when they sent
all the work to India, save for a few US IC radiology people for stats... I absolutely wouldn't advise working for them. They now own Medquist and are doing the same thing to them.
I got in it about 1970 and was laid off
end of 2007. Per GP's post below, we were well thought of at one time, the administrative secretary would come in occasionally and ask a question regarding English rules and such. Then, somehow, it all changed and we began to be regarded as useless workhorses, nags if you will, and you'd better not look up or stop typing for a moment or someone would say something. I would advise it against it just for what it does physically over time to your hands, arms, shoulders and neck and back. Great way to get out of shape especially if you work 8+ hours a day. It does keep your fingers limber, but that's about all. I can't think of any other profession where you are expected not only to know so much, but keep learning, and steadily getting underpaid. Might as well try to be a Bell telephone operator, going the same way as they did and telegraphers and pony express riders.
If an employee, you'd be better off being laid off.
If they would just straight up lay you off, you could collect unemployment, which in some cases would be more than the money made sitting in front of the computer for 10-12 hours a day.

And, in a bit of a double whammy, the lower the rate you'll get on unemployment should the time ever come that you can actually file, as most states base unemployment is determined on wages over the last five quarters, so the longer you stick it out the harder you stick it to yourself when they start calculating an unemployment wage.

I know someone who worked 8 days in early June 2008 (his previous work was early spring 2007). He has been collecting unemployment since August 2008 in the amount of $175/week. His home is paid for, he can't drive, and with some investments that pay monthly annuities, he is able to live better than a lot of people, without the stress that MTs endure wondering how they'll make their line count.
I got laid off too,. same scenario. sm
There were several of us that got the ax with no warning.
Is this the company that laid off a bunch of
MTs at Christmas and sent the work to India?
Cbay has laid off all of their US MTs and Editors
and sent everything to India. They bought up a lot of smaller US companies and slowly transitioned EVERYTHING to India.  What more is there to say about them?  Bad news.
they did lay off- didnt outsource but laid off a lot
They bought another contract and then lost it so had new employees and not enough work to go around
Anybody here been laid off by SmartMed recently?

SmartMed employees received an email about 3 weeks ago that there would be layoffs and/or cutting back on benefits, but no subsequent followup email, so we don't know if the layoffs have occurred already, or if we should still be waiting for the other shoe to drop.  It's a wonder we don't all have bleeding ulcers (no matter what company we work for).  There just doesn't seem to be any respect for our skills or the difficulty of the job.  We are just numbers on a spreadsheet.

I know this won't be a popular sentiment, but as far as I'm concerned things starting going to hell in a handbasket for all of us with the advent of the Internet.  When you had to go in and work at a facility, be it a hospital or an MT company, they knew who you were.  They had to see you everyday and work with you.  You really were a part of a (visible) team.  I truly believe that made it more difficult to just be let go without a backward glance.

I never got the email and got laid off yesterday... strange... sm
I wonder what is going on. Was it the one with all the unemployment info in it?
Aren't they the company that laid off a bunch of MTs and
sent work to India a few months ago.
We were getting laid-off, wages cut, losing bennies
Like for the last 5-7 years.
I am a Heartland employee that got laid off and I won't support AAMT in any way. nm
x
I was the *half full* type until my company laid me off.
They said identical things as this DRC acquisition. They told us to just keep working as usual and do your best. Three months later (after the Indians had proper training on our accounts), they laid off the whole US MT force. The particular account I was on DID NOT want their dictations outsourced overseas but this happened anyway until this account caught wind and eventually left. These things do happen out there, and all of these people have the right to feel skeptical. These Indian company takeovers happen more often than not. We MTs need to be less naive about things and more weary to protect our occupation.
Let me sum it up for you, 80% of work is done in India, they just laid off a bunch of American

QA people, some of which were hired only a few months before they were fired, and they just now fired a lot of their upper management.  Something is in the wind at Focus and it smells like crap!  Don't work there.  If you do decide to ignore the warnings, don't believe anything they tell you!  They lie to you right up until they call and fire you.

I thought there were posts a few months ago saying they laid off 50-some people. nm

Haven't had enough java this morning...should be "I got laid off today too" and "ground&
Bad day...please forgive me :)
I worked in QA for Transcending back in 2000-2001. They were paying hourly back then. SM

The accounts weren't too horribly bad.  The reason I ended up leaving was because slowly but surely they began to inch closer and closer to paying QA by production.  When I first started, the quota was something like 30 reports a day.   We simply had to make sure that we QA'd all reports that were close to being out of TAT first and then do the rest.  Then, my supervisor left and they hired a new one who immediately called a big teleconference meeting and said we had to up production to 60 reports a day.  Then, they started counting lines.  Which was fine because they were still paying hourly.

Next, there was an MT who used VR software because she was blind - yes blind.  Again, when I first started, I was told we had to edit her entire reports because she used the VR software and we had to make sure that everything was correct and made sense.  Then, we are told only check the blanks.  I wasn't comfortable with that and I continued to completely proof every word.  Then I was called on the carpet not because I wasn't meeting the production quota, but because I was ONLY meeting the production quota.  I told them I was proofing all of the MT's work that used VR, I was told that no one ever told me to proof every word of the VR reports and that I needed to fill in blanks and move on.  When I voiced my concerns, I was told that was my job, to fill in blanks and I should move on and strive to product above the standards.  Next thing you know, rumors abounded about changing the QA staff to being paid on production.  So I left.

There just seemed to me to be too little concern for quality and more emphasis on quantity and I just didn't want to be part of company who would take money out of my pocket just to line their own and that's what they were doing by putting QA on production.  I also am not comfortable with the job of QA being thought of as a blank filler.  There is much more to the QA profession than just simply filling in blanks.

I don't know if Transcend ever did start paying QA by production, but I could see that the idea was being floated there.  Maybe there was a enough protest that they didn't change from hourly.

Good luck to you!

Phoenix Medcom- Another apply a few months back, ask to take a test and never heard back??
I applied a month or two ago, received an email from someone asking if I would take a test and said she was getting ready to go on vacation for a week, so I hurried and immediately and told her I'd love to take the test. I never heard back. I waiting thinking she went on vacation and would contact me when she got back to do the test but nothing...very strange..Just wondered if this happened to anyone else.
Has everyone heard back from Keystrokes yet regarding the email we received a while back?
Just wandering why I haven't heard any response yet.
I sent them an email back in August and never heard back sm
Is this company on Long Island? I checked out their website and even tried calling once. Were you successful in contacting them? All i know is that the company is owned by some doctors.

Hopefully, you will hear back. Unfortunately, I immediately heard back from MD-IT
but somehow with over 16 years of experience, I blew the test.  I was soooo disappoionted and yet pretty stunned.  I am by no means perfect but I haven't flunked a test in years.  I expected it in my early years but not this far down the road. I was so confident and they will not tell you which part you did not pass and why so it really just blew my mind.  I must have been in shock for like two hours after I got the email. Oh well, someone will want me....hopefully.  I was thinking about OSi but I don't think I could take another rejection if I never heard back.
I had the same thing happen, went back to MQ, went back to KS and could not be sm

happier.  I am on a different account then the first time and it is as if it is a different company.  I have a great lead who leaves us alone most of the time but is there when I need her.  It showed me that you can have a different experience within the same company.

I have to say that in the few weeks since they have the new office, it is much more organized probably because there are a lot of people there all the time.  I had the pleasure of speaking to the new HR manager who was HR at a hospital, got my questions answered about insurance as I am going to full time and had a live voice pick up the phone.

Not all change is bad.  This is one company that has changed for the better.

I was reading about the back up help. I would like also to have some back up work.
I am not getting anywhere near 12,000 lines this go around.  My goal is 12,000 lines each pay period.
I got laid off for MT Week. Happy MT Week to me!

Back away from the hoops!! Back away!
I worked for them about 6 months - same mess to get hired - FBI check is right! It was unreal. I was so excited, though - they promised me the moon, and I really thought I had found my new home after centuries with that other company who shall not be named.  What a disappointment, to say the least. All around horrible experience, and I would NEVER recommend them. Certainly they were not worth the hoops at all. Total waste of effort.
Also a few weeks for me sm
The real problem has not been getting used to DQS, but the fact that so many transcriptionists are doing the accounts, I may have to type from 5 or 6 different hospitals to get my lines in each day. The switching has slowed me down much more than the DQS itself.
It took 2 weeks to get an ID, but they kept following up sm
with me until it came in. They told me this upfront, so it was not a surprise. I was working out my notice at another company during that time, so it was a smooth transition for me. If you do not get something you need, call the office. They have always responded well for me and taken care of things quickly.
2 weeks' for nothing
Its hard to believe that when in the last few months we have been barely having work and we are not compensated in any way whatsoever. Just like its not your fault that the account you are to work on its not our fault that we are running out of work. I say lets give the loyal employees who keep sticking with TT through this very dry drought some kind of compensation if for nothing else than for sticking around.
Pay is ever 2 weeks
Not twice a month like most companies, doesn't seem like much of a difference but it's at least 2 more pay checks a year. Payperiods end on a Sunday and the check is in the bank the next Saturday.
i got one a few weeks ago
I got one a few weeks ago. I just told her that I had a position and only wanted radiology right now. I have also as someone else replied gotten a postcard before, I believe last year or the year before.
2 weeks

when you put in a 2 week notice, do most of the MTOS just let you go right then.......or do they let you finish out your 2 weeks?  Just curious.

It took me about three weeks,
but was well worth the wait, I love working at Keystrokes!   They treat their employees like human beings and not just a number.  I never run out of work either
2 weeks
Usually they let you finish your out your 2 weeks.

If you don't give 2 weeks...most times they mark your termination papers as not to rehire.

Hope this helps
Every 2 weeks. nm
nm
Every 2 weeks.
Works out better than twice a month.
I have only been there about 6 weeks and
there were several days where others were complaining they had multiple accounts and out of work on all of them.  Judging my the backlog reports it looks like work has picked up considerably.  They are fixing to go live with 2 more accounts so there should be plenty of work.  They don't pay for downtime though.   It seems there are always accounts that have been approved for OT though, so I guess if you want to have several backups the work is there.   So far I don't have a backup account and I'm staying busy now and even able to work OT.
They pay every two weeks. Sm...
and you will get your paycheck on a regular schedule via direct deposit.
