Dont agree. It is never to late to try to make life
wasted.  With your attitude, it probably is too late for you, you dont seem to have the initiative to try to make it better.  If you want to be a victim, go ahead.  Maybe you should find a Victims-R-Us board.
Agree. Worry solves nothing. Dont wait for life to

Are you the same condescending person the word board? I thought this was called "Company Board.&#

Dont you think that person meant inexperienced rather than sloppy. I think so anyway. A lot more

goes into transcribing than just doing well in school. Experience plays a big part in things when dealing with tons of dictators.

you're trying to start trouble on the other board too. Get a life. nm

There is not 1 person on this board that
is for me. If I get out of a job, are you going to take me in and pay my bills? I don’t think so. Everyone can do what they like. We are in a country that says so. Do what you want and take care of your own self. I am not responsible for you and your families and it works both ways. I have raised a family and it is me time now, finally. It is a glorious time when I do not have to worry about others all the time. I cannot help what this profession has turned into. I am not my sister's keeper here.
Ooh I was so aggravated I said it wrong. IE Board or not, no excuse for being nasty. I dont think it

You need to read the ad on Job Seekers board for QA person. huh? nm

I dont cherry pick, never did. I dont do that to my coworkers on my account.

What is the new status. I dont understand what it means. I dont need their benefits nor do I want
them.
I dont know what that means. I am an SE. I dont sit and wait for work I come back in when it is
there so I never had to deal with Amherst when there was no work because I just stopped working and did other things. My feeling is if this doesnt work there are other jobs out there.
I just dont want to hit that extra space if I dont get paid for it, ya know. No message.

here here, but didn't you like the pretty picture on the oversized coaster!!!!
Insulting or what?????
I read this ad and my blood pressure got so high, I came off my seat. Old Timey doesn't seem to mean having a brain. Perhaps those of us who have been in this profession -- personally I have been for over 45 years -- have burned out all of our brain cells. Gimme a break. The whole attitude of that ad is insulting. Sure hope she sits and waits for applicants -- maybe she can check out the Wal-Mart Electronics Department.
They only pay 7/8 cpl! That's insulting!
nm
.04 and .05 insulting
Amen! Glad you will not let them post such an insulting remuneration.
3 cpl insulting indeed
What next! Will we have to pay to work?
nobody is being insulting.

In my response, i posted about the NEGATIVE response shown to the original poster who simply thanked me for an encouraging response.  Somehow, the negative poster(s) assumed that their response was not appreciated as there was no specific thank you involved.  FYI, the OP did not say she didn't appreciate the other posts; but someone with preconceived ideas jumped to conclusions huh? therefore, my post about attitude was, i believe, correct.  Remember, she was a new hire, excited about her new job, and looking for some support, NOT to get slammed with a bunch of negatives.

Again, when you have a bum attitude, it affects your personal relationships, your work relationships and your decisions as well.  There is a time and place for negativity and i don't think that is what the OP was looking for.

Their pay is insulting.
Less than 7cpl. No kidding.
wow.......that is insulting.
was that an offer made to an MT with experience?

Especially as an IC! Very insulting.
x
that rate is insulting!
Try to find something that pays hourly. It is very hard to make money being paid by the line for QA, especially if the accounts are hard or the MTs do not do good work.
That's just as insulting as implying that
those of us who had everything go wrong had it happen because we weren't quality MTs. Attitude is 90%?  I'll tell ya, I sat there with my HAPPY EXCITED attitude for days and days and days and days, and guess what???  No work was no work was no work.  Had not 1 bit to do with my attitude, and its insulting for you to even speak that.  There were a great number of us hired on at the same time, all different accounts and platforms. I think one cheerleader made it thru without a hitch, and the rest of us got hit with one technical problem after another, keeping our chin up and plodding thru all these hoops, because we had a GREAT attitude, only to encounter no work over and over and over.  Days turning into weeks, weeks into over a month. Give me a break.  Attitude.    They don't have their act together for some reason, and it sure was not OUR attitudes.
This is absolutely insulting. nm
xx
Who's pay isn't insulting anymore?
The best I've ever been offered was 8 cpl for standard transcription on an account that only had editing at half that. The MT business just does not seem fair anymore. Sometimes I think they don't want us to make a living. But it is not like they can survive without us. Besides greed, what are they (MTSOs) thinking these days?
When your advice is insulting
You may be the best at your profession, if you think so.  However, when time has taken its toll on you....it's probably time to go.  Or maybe just try to stick to what it is that you do best, but it is certainly not communicating with people.
Well, I know that MTs from my office have quite MQ and they dont post on here but I dont know how
many. I think MTs with MQ may be getting second jobs and just working for 2 different places at the same time which is probably the smart thing to do anymore because MQ will continue with this short TAT and as it spreads throughout other  offices people will continually be running out of work especially after going on DQS.
You obviously have the wrong company. If they dont IM you, then you dont have it on..
I smell management. Nothing you said makes sense unless there is another Focus out there.
Sorry if I dont like gutter humor. Also dont like

Not only insulting, worthy of becoming physically

No offense, but you are insulting the wrong ones.
You are correct when you say that difficult jobs make you a better MT. But the same holds true for cherry-pickers. They would be decent MTs (as well as honest ones)if they were honest enough to type whatever came up into their que. In my early days as an on-the-job MT, I myself had a more experienced MT cherry-pick and my lines and paycheck suffered because of it. I don't check for cherry-picking, never have, but I resent them thinking they have a right to pick and choose what I type. I, too, now am good enough to do any job, but that is no excuse for others to be dishonest. You obviously must not have to worry about money. It's a shame you are insulting the honest MTs who are complaining about the dishonest ones. You seem to be insulting the wrong people.
Not insulting. Just stating my observation of the

I have had a positive one. I have been with Keystrokes for 3 months and am very happy.

I printed them to show my manager but she told me that there are few bitter people out there and no one can do anything about them. My manager said that everyone can tell that it is the same few over and over again, for Keystrokes and a few other companies as well. Time to move on Ms. Anon. I cannot think why a company would go through the trouble of getting IDs and getting you installed just to ignore you after that. Doesn't make sense, does it? Are you sure that't the whole truth? You keep saying truth but it sounds fishy.
Exactly what I'm talking about RUDE! You are a very unhappy person. A happy person does not
respond in such a way!  This is the reason SS has such a bad name.
7 cpl with my experience was insulting...and if your insulted that I said so, GOOD! you should be!

I post what I see as proactive, get her done, dont be a victim encouragment. Strongly put, maybe.  But I feel passionatly about this issue and hate to see women letting themselves be vicitms.  Engaging in the poor you, you been treated bad, it is so sad, does nothing to encourage them to drag themselves out of the mire and take charge of their lives.
If that is how they treat their new MTs,
then just imagine how they must treat their MTs on average or for the long run! Gee Willikers! I doubt you'd have much positive to look forward to if you stayed. For that person to treat you that way so quickly -- she must both be used to doing so to others and gets away with it from the company. That gives her a lot of power to make other people miserable. I would let that place take a hike. I sure hope I don't run into her on my job search.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide.
Yes, when you treat the MT like....

I have to say if the MTs weren't  treated like they are in sweat shops and constantly hounded about their production and could get paid a decent wage, then maybe the quality could get better.  But, when you are paid on production and someone just out of school has yet to build up speed, and they are being hounded as to why they are not producing their line count, then they feel rushed and yes, making careless mistakes.  I have been MTing for 3 years, and I surely do wish I would have chosen another field.  I am currently getting myself ready to go back to school and get into diagnostic medical sonography.  The only thing I will miss is being able to work from home and be more available to my family.  Sorry in advance for any typos or punctuation errors.

I think your comparison is ridiculous and insulting. Try getting a farm worker's job and you'

I am not a hateful person but that person screamed at me for 45 minutes. sm
She said all transcriptionists are idiots.
They have a low pay scale. They treat you like
The owner is nice enough, but she does not like to pay until her client pays her and she will make you sign a paper stating you agree to that.  Just be careful what you sign.  You might like it if you like EMDAT.  There is no training.  You train yourself through a website she gives you for EMDAT.  Again pay is low.
I don't agree-because Men treat U the way U..NM

But they are!! Treat employees very well
nm
If you treat your employees well, why

would you make the statement all but 1 would turn on you if someone offered something better?  Most MTs I know are thankful to work for someone who treats them well, something that is no longer the norm in this business, and generally stick it out for the long haul, until the MTSO offshores or there is no work or not enough work to feed our families.  Somehow it has been lost that an employee well treated and well paid is an asset, not a liability.  I don't know about you, but I appreciate respect for the work I do and the knowledge I bring to the table and that respect comes in many forms, most notably a living wage.  You can be darn sure that in these economic times and with the depressed wages we have had to settle for because MTSOs, large and small, offshore or live high and mighty off the backs of us MT slaves, I'm looking out for #1.  Loyalty and respect are earned.  Very few companies today exhibit business and/or moral practices that earn them either.

I like my company. They treat me well.
industry's *standard* pay.

BUT ------ Thanks to AAMT/AHDI, greedy hospital CEO's who want more money & more management, at the expense of less of everything else (including patient care), and MTSO's without the backbone to stand by a rate that means they can pay their MT's a living wage, even *the industry's best* pay just isn't cutting it. Not as a single person, anyway.

Changing jobs would just make my situation worse. But if the payscale doesn't go up soon, I'll have no choice but to get out. I already cant ever retire, thanks to the Wall Street pigs. And thanks to greedy people buying into the MT industry to make a fast, easy buck, just makeing ends meet is getting near-impossible. I could understand it if I had no education and no skills. But as a person who is pretty much at the top of their game in MT, I'm so disappointed that my work, my hours, and my knowledge aren't paid what they're worth. A very respected doctor/professor once told me that MTs are *one of the doctors' strongest lines of defense against mistakes, malpractice, and lawsuits*. He used to thank me personally every year, even though the rest of the hospital didn't seem to give a crap, for catching those tiny dictation errors that ALL doctors make, and for bringing things that seemed questionable to his attention. As a result, we both learned continually, and quality was job-one for him, as well as for me.

Now, it's just a numbers game. Crank out those lines. Cut those corners. Someday that continual haste is going to cost a lot (if it hasn't already). A life. A job. A medical licensure. A few million in a lawsuit. We used to be important players in the quality of medical care documentation. Now, we're just *expendable* cogs in the wheel.
They treat their employees VERY well.
I have been there for over 2 years and don't plan on going anywhere else. They will go out of their way to do anything they can for you if you are a hard working employee. I have never been with a company who treats their employees this well.
They don't treat you well on the CM side
You may not think it makes a difference, but it's like working for a different company. I think the staff is very abusive and disrespectful to the MTs and each other. Webmedx needs to go in there and clean house from the supervisors down.

Read ChartMatrix MT's post below. The culture really does make a difference. Apparently, she doesn't have work, either. Bad on both counts.
