I echo your experience! Said the very same thing to me, but I quit them first.

That is my experience..I too will soon quit and have told...sm
Dorothy I simply must have more work, more accounts, something but get the run-around..always saying things will pick up, this is a holiday slump, etc. This is NOT a holiday slump unless the holiday started in September! Really bad situation and I am aggressively looking for another job.
I experience the same thing in Meditech.
that, in both the line count situation and the drag situation, your brain steers that ship? The correlation between what you're hearing (brain function), what you're seeing on the screen (also brain function), and what you fingers are typing (brain function) all depend on...guess what? Your brain. We all have a certain speed (given varying conditions of how clear the doctors are, how well you understand the dictation) that we see/hear/type and, if what we see on the screen has lag, then our fingers will automatically pound on the keyboard, thinking it's going to give a faster result. (All that will do is make your fingers tired.) I've found that deliberately relaxing my fingers and typing extremely lightly (like a butterfly landing on the keys) will alleviate a lot of frustration when there is lag.

My second point is that whole old-as-the-hills, keep-beating-that-dead-horse-and-hope-it-gets-up-and-runs issue of line count - has ANYONE else considered that if you do not have a visual aid showing how well/poorly you're doing, you'll tend to type more slowly? Consider the example of someone running the 100-yard dash by themselves, flying along, feeling that wind rush through their hair and thinking they broke the world record, only to find out the guy from the Special Olympics in the wheelchair beat them. Our brains are funny that way. We rely on outside validation (in this case in the form of a visible real-time line count) to tell us how long that report REALLY was or give us that OMG, did I really only type 150 lines this last hour?? I better buckle down feeling.

From the NUMEROUS posts about line count, it sounds like enough people have verified and found that TT doesn't really cheat anyone. I do think that TT seriously needs to consider giving the employees that visual aid, though, so they (the employee) can self-monitor. Just a thought...
Thank you -- that is a nice thing to say. I realize my experience will not always sm

be the same as someone else's, but I try to share what I know and help if I can.  This board has been tremendously helpful sometimes.  I once was considering taking a job with a company, and I did some research here and lo and behold, they apparently had a reputation for not paying their MTs!  Even on those days that I truly love my job, I don't love it enough to do it for free.  The idea of me living in a refrigerator box (with a microwave box for the doggie, of course) is NOT appealing!

Thanks again.

I have 19 years experience and was told the same thing. I think their test is incorrect.

I echo about DSG
I believe Webmedx and Spheris pay hourly, but also almost always hire for QA from within.  I don't know about TransHealth or Transolutions.
I just quit Medquist, hired by Etrans and quit them after one afternoon during the last two weeks!sm
Medquist made me buy a new computer to go to the "Docuscribe" system that was so much better than cottage.  When I got there I took a real big pay cut to the tune of probably 30 to 40%.  I was getting paid gross lines doing Cedars-Sinai operative reports.  I asked for more per line and my supervisor just laughed and said you think were going to pay you $0.12 a line to just do operative reports!  I said I quit.  I should have said F you and your mamma too:(  I had been there all together 7 years through buyouts.  I am just sick of it all.  I'm going to go sew my daughter a cute little Halloween outfit right now.
Echo Sten-Tel
I think this company may be in North Dakota.  Has anyone worked for them?  I am thinking of applying with them but would like a little information from present or former employees.  Thanks!
I work for Echo, and I really like it. SM

We use DocQscribe.  I use ShortHand with it, but there is a built-in Expander you could use if you don't have ShortHand.

Management and QA are very nice, pay is fair, work is good.  Some ESL, but not many.

Employee position.  Only bummer is that there are very limited benefits.  I've worked for MQ, Spheris, and TransHealth.  I prefer Echo hands down over any of the above companies.  I don't know if they're hiring or not, but I'll link their website below.

Good luck!

Does Echo have a website? Thanks. nm
x
It has never happened to me at Echo sm

I'm not sure how many different accounts they have, but I have never been switched around.  I've learned new work types since working there (like OPs), but it is all part of the same account.

I've been very happy there.  I have experience with MedQuist, Spheris, and TransHealth.  I thought MQ was okay...I hated the other two.  Everyone's experiences are different (some love the last two companies I mentioned), but I have been an Echo employee for almost 1 year, and I have to say that I really, really love it here.

If benefits are your top priority, you might not be too happy here.  They do offer benefits, but they are pretty expensive.  But they offer PTO (given at 1-year anniversary), sick time, and have a very generous incentive program.  They also have much less ESL doctors than I had with those other 3 companies.

I hope you find what you're looking for.  If you want to know more about Echo, you can e-mail me at any time.

Take care,

Chickadee

I really like Echo Transcription, Inc. SM

Good pay, really nice incentive plan, PTO, sick pay, great management, great QA feedback, small percentage of ESL docs, employee status.  Only bad thing, though, is that health and dental insurance are expensive.

Good luck in your search!

ECHO EMPLOYEES? SM

Are they hiring?  Do they use DQS? Wondering if you can tell me if they have any clinic work or will hire someone with hospital but no OPs experience?  Cost  and type of med. ins. for individual coverage? Thanks for any info!

Has anyone heard of Echo Transcription Inc.? sm

Care to share your opinion and experience with them?  I tested with them today.  They seemed nice and friendly.  The platform was pretty user friendly.

Is there plenty of work?  Is the pay fair?  Do they have benefits?  Thanks...if I'm offered a position, I'll find out all these answers, but I'm just really curious.

Just Me

Echo Transciption Inc. in Georgia SM

I really like it there a lot.  We have tons of work, excellent feedback from QA, great boss to work for, good pay.  I spot check their counts against my count on MSWord (characters with spaces divided by 25) from time to time, and it is always exactly the same or 1 line more on DocQScribe.

Their website is http://www.echoti.com.

Good luck!

Echo Transcription in Georgia does. NM

echo transcription in georgia
Anyone had any experience with this company?  Would like some feedback, as recently applied for a part-time employee status job there
Is Echo Transcription still associated with CBay? nm
xx
Thanks for all of your responses. You echo my intuition.
Thanks so much for your responses. I agree with you. I do have a roving eye, just in case, but that would be for any job in this economy. But, I love TT, and considering the fact that I am willing to put the work in to get up to speed, I really don't want to leave, at least not yet. Frying pan to fire, etc. TT has a lot of things besides what I mentioned that I can't put into words. I guess it is just a right fit and where I want to be... so unless things change really badly.. I want my job and I want to keep it! Thanks again everyone for your help.
Anyone here ever worked for Elite Global/Echo? sm

(In Georgia)  How did you like it?  I'd love to hear both good and bad.

Thanks in advance.

I echo BTDT and left a few months ago. Don't bother. NM

Speaking of CBay, do they still have Elite Global aka Echo affiliated with them? Just wondering..nm

Debate is one thing, and posting is one thing,
but this is getting absurd. I think it must be the same person, otherwise multiples who cannot stay on topic?? Why can't you STICK with the subject? The subject of my post was NOT what your cent per line rate was or is - I could care less- and not how much money you made last year, this year, or in your life, but how silly the comment was that your cents per line rate means NOTHING, that its up to you - some fluff like that. That is just so silly. Again, working for the same company, same account, is one going to make more money being paid more per line? OF course! This is so frustrating and really makes me so tired of reading this garbage let alone posting. Its like a nightmare. And also makes me completely believe that the original company must pay peanuts.
good thing it is a temporary thing sm
because people with your attitude don't stay in anything very long anyway. Nobody has to listen to that crap to keep their job.

You don't know me either. you can say old fart all you want (when did 53 get to be old fart....too funny) but at least I am a valuable employee who can get a decent job!
Here, here. Exactly my experience also, even down to the 10 year work experience. nm
:+
Well for one thing, it would not be a professional thing
to do for any MTSO to have a board to do this as part of being an MTSO involves the ability to identify and hold on to confidential information. Even if a person is a job hopper (which in this business rather than go against you can make you a stronger better MT if you can do just about anything thrown at you), if a person is looking for a job, a company needs to have the MT's permission to contact their current employer. Where one has worked or has not worked is something that is very unprofessional being discussed on a board by MTSOs.

Being a business owner of any kind comes with it possessing what it takes to maintain ethical practices.

Perhaps you all should quit (sm)
talking to "Sandy" since she can't spell the name of her own city, she probably isn't "Sandy" after all!
Just quit
I originally told them I wanted to try them out part time for 2 weeks and they agreed but weren't happy about it. I decided what the heck, I'd try FT. For the first FIVE days I had ONE report per day. They kept telling me they couldn't give me a backup until I was off QA, and couldn't get off QA until I had done enough reports!! Lose-lose situation there.

The QA was ridiculous, should have known since the head QA person was from Edix. I had a report that had many many physician errors, illness denied in one spot, added in others. I marked them all for QA and when I got it back, they said they have no way of knowing what's correct so they just put them on through!!! They did find the time however to mark the word "an" that I had put to make the sentence correct as being WRONG, even though the account was not verbatim. I had 2 other QAs come back with errors that I documented to the super that I was right about and they were changed, but all this trouble and I only did 6 reports? I shudder to think what it would be like IF they had any work!!
Quit
Sorry, but there's no other way. Been there, done that. Unfortunately, some QA people get their jollies by terrorizing other people just because they can.
I quit!
Etransplus is all about the numbers, not keeping their MTs in work. If you continue to work for them, you must have a secondary job.
Did you quit yet?
There are companies out there hiring right now even though it's right before Christmas. I had three job offers in one day after leaving. Life's too short to be frustrated.
Believe me, do not quit your other job.
A is the worst place to work
Here is what I would do. I would quit. If you know sm
anyone at Spheris who you have worked with or under that would give you a reference, just use that person as a reference. It is common knowledge that these huge companies could not tell anyone anything about a person who has worked for them. I know one girl who worked for MQ and had been working there for years and applied for a home loan and they told the mortgage company she did not work there!

Point is--figure out who from the company you can use as a reference and use it IF you want to mention you worked for them at all.

Second, unemployment benefits usually have some sort of waiting period and usually you have to be constantly seeking a job during the time you are not employed. It is not worth the hassle. In this business of MT, you can certainly find another job right away or within a week or two. It might not be the amount of money--heck, it could be better! Bottom line is, quit, tell them bye, and move on. Forget about the unemployment and get back to work as soon as possible. These states want you to jump through hoops for that little bit you would most likely collect in unemployment. I know my state has it that you can apply online now and do not have to go into the unemployment office, but many of the unemployment offices are so degrading that you don't want to go there at all.

With all the MT companies out there, you WILL find another job. Go the easy route for yourself and don't put yourself through this degrading process. Get yourself back to work and earning your money and forget about Spheris.

DON'T Quit!!!!
If your could not make line count because you were not qualified, that is their human relations department screw up, they should have verified that you were qualified. If they did, and you were, which I would assume is true because they hired you, I would let them fire me because if they do contest you application for unemployment insurance, they may be made to prove that you are in fact in the minority of their employess who do not make line count, and I think it can be proven that most of the MTs hired do not make line count at these coumpanies for a variety of reasons, many of which have nothing to do with the MT. For instance, SOUND QUALITY OF WORK YOU RECEIVE, TECH SUPPORT IN A TIMELY FASHION, MORE THAN THE USUAL NUMBER OF ESLs, NOT USER-FRIENDLY WORK PLATFORM, POOR TRAINING ON THEIR PART. Unemployment is usually only refused for people who Willfully cause themselves to be fired, not for those who actually tried. Remember, it was their job to determine if you were qualified, unless you lied to them, which is a whole new ball game. In any case, a reference from a company you worked at for four months is worthless, so let them fire you and take your chances. But do offer to try harder and ask for their help in making a go of it, it will look good if they fire you anyway, and document and print emails that are pertinent to your case. Connect a printer to your PC if you do not already have one and print all their emails. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Does anybody know who was let go or quit?
x
One day for me too. I also quit....
because of poor communication. Never answered my QA questions or sent any feedback to me. I realize no news is good news but good grief, at least answer my questions.
no one said they were going to quit
yet either. You actually do not seem either intelligent or rational as you obviously refuse to see that there are issues and believe that if you just pump out the work that you will be okay, which is very naive as someone else had posted. You also need to remember that I am sure that a lot of other MTs have heard somewhat of the same song and dance at other companies and have seen what happened. There comes a point sometimes when things walk like a duck, if you will, that you do question seriously whether it is going to be duck.
Anyone who quit, where did you go?
If you found a good company, can you please let me know where you went!  I need to get out of here!  Thanks a lot!
Never quit one job until you are sure of the second job. Do them
p
Then don’t quit your day job, I get
4 cents per line for VR.
Just quit there sm
Management is severely lacking.

Trainer was an idiot (but at least she didnt cuss all the way thru the exam like Cbay's trainer did)

They lost the account I was on.
EXACTLY WHY I QUIT OSI!!
I worked third shift and got nothing but very old crap because of cherrypicking by team lead to her favorites. Not only were the age of the jobs obvious but another MT who quit for personal reasons told me that she used to get the best jobs from the team lead. Team leads on OSi are completely worthless for the most part. They get a salary for doing nothing except doling out gravy jobs.
So you quit without having another job?
There are always possibilities but I for one could not afford to just quit without having another job. I don't know your situation though but am happy for you to be relieved. Some of the working conditions make me crazy sometimes but I am overall happy where I am though it is not perfect by any means.
I'd try them out before I quit my other job.
nuff said
If you already have another job just quit OSI
/
Quit the job you have now
BTW: When I said let us know when you quit this one, I meant the one you hate right now... not Transcend.
also PS: I reread my post, I used the word then too much! I am really a transcriptonist, I want to go back and edit my posts to make it BOS compliant! LOL. Have a great day.
IME & IMO - don't quit your other job until you (sm)

get up and running with Keystrokes, or any MTSO, especially this time of year, when it tends to be slow.  It may take you a week or so to get work, and remember there is a two-week delay in getting your check; for example, for the PP ending 12/15, we don't get paid until 1/1.

Hope this helps!

Quit OSI, still no W2
This doesn't answer your question. Sorry.
Try it while still with job#1. Never quit one job until
x
Are you going to quit?
I was just wonder if you are going to quit since VR is not your thing? I wouldn't work for pennies either.
She quit
She said that she started running out of work and had to work too many extra hours in order to get her line count.
