I am back in the 80s with the money I am pulling in. SS, retirement check and my paycheck, cha-ching. Not planning on taking it with me, never. Love to travel and have 4 places planned for this year. High maintenance lady here. Ta-Ta.
Yes, very similar. (sm)

I think they are interchangeable, meaning if you save a document in Word Perfect, you can open it up in Word (on the newer versions anyway).  I used to prefer Word Perfect over Word, but now I like Word better.  But, yes, they are very similar.

I just went through something similar
about a month ago when I left a big national to work for Keystrokes. I was apprehensive about it at first but now I wonder why I didn't do it sooner. Good luck!
something similar
I had something similar happen when a former employer did not pay the insurance bill for a month. It sounds like this is what happened to your company, although I would be concerned that they told you they would reimburse. Does that mean they don't have the money to pay the bill?! Something weird is going on, and I would ask a lot of questions.

I would never tell anyone to get a different job, but I personally think that everyone should have an updated resume at all times.

Let us know what happens, okay? Good luck - I hope it works out the way you want it.
OSI has similar
plan, which I read in the fine print of the employment papers.  It said that I would only be paid minimum wage if the client did not pay.  It was unclear as to whether back pay would be made once the client did pay or if I would never receive any more than minimum wage if the client NEVER paid.  So, I turned down the position.  I'm really surprised that I have never read about this little detail on these forums (regarding OSi of Georgia).
Actually it's very similar to
what's going on here. It's about dishonesty being punished so the rest of us have a fair shake. In other words, management not doing anything about a cherry-picker is as bad as saying It's ok honey. Go ahead and cherry-pick.
I feel the same way. I'm irritable because I feel
and that my years of experience overall, and past few years of busting my @$$ for them hasn't been appreciated or noticed in the least.

We're all just cogs in the wheel.
Similar situation here..
That gal has some serious issues. I agree with you to each his or her own. Maybe you have to have something in common with her...i don't know. Just glad i found an editor position elsewhere.

Similar situation here
I think I was "hired" at the end of June. Every step of the hiring process took at least a week. I am now still in "training." There doesn't seem to be enough work for me to practice on. I expected to be FT by now. I finished by DQS training the 1st week in August; got a telephone survey yesterday from MQ about DQS training, which really blew my mind. So concerned about the adequacy of the training and yet there's no work. Frankly, I think DQS is a piece of cake and don't know what the big deal is.

If I had quit my old job when I was supposedly hired, I would be SOL right now. I'm tempted to look elsewhere but as a newbie, I don't think I'm going to get a better line rate anywhere else and the benefits seem to be good.
I am also looking for a similar position

I was in a similar situation with them
They weren't saying resign or be fired but it was getting to that point. I could see it coming. I quit when the threats started. Too much pressure. I am sorry you are going through this too.
Somewhat similar here, and I'm stumped
I accepted a position with a company as an IC. They sent me all the info on the hospital, etc., and said they'd call in a few days with my ID and for training. They called, I was at the grocery store (shame on me). I've been calling them back for over a week now, have read all the documentation and am ready to go - now they're not calling me back. What is up with this stuff? Why would they go through all this trouble and then just drop off the face of the earth?
And DQS and Precyse are very similar, but IMO DQS is

Yes, they are very similar programs
I have both WordPerfect 10 and Word 2003 on my computer.
Yes. I had a similar situation SM

I had been trying to get it together to work for them for several weeks, months really.  Lots of emails back and forth.  They really wanted me, but I couldn't work it out for a long time.  Finally we set a date to get set up --- no contact all day from them.  The next day, she contacted me and we set up a definite time for yet the next afternoon --- but, again, I heard nothing from her that day.  I decided at that time that we had dragged each other along for long enough and I would just email her and tell her no thanks after all, which I did.  I really don't know if she is that busy or what, but an email would have been nicue (or getting some else in the office to call) when she wasn't going to come through for set-up.  I just ended up being afraid they would not be dependable for me.

The lady you are emailing with is probably the owner, and I had talked to her on the phone several times - very nice.  I also read on a post here that she had built the company all herself and that it was a good place to work.  I just decided against it.

There are 2 companies with similar
SGS out of Texas pays: 9 cents a line including spaces, headers, & footers for transcription, and 4-1/4 for editing. I just completed my training with them, they seem VERY nice and professional. They do not do direct deposit, but are working on getting it, so that may be a different company the other poster is talking about as there are 2 with similar/same names when you Google it. All I needed was to buy a foot pedal and they downloaded their software onto my computer for me.
Is this similar to Ex Text

Had a similar experience with her

I wouldn't say she was mean, just brusque and kind of haughty when offering pay that was completely junk!!

Had a bad experience with another company's recruiter also.  Never followed up with me over and over......then would make excuses on why she didn't get back to me, always sounded kind of hung-over.

Are these the best PR people they can come up with?

I had one similar this morning

Only it was from Meditech.   Never applied there.  Letter sounded pretty similar to yours though.

my experience was similar -
small service bought out by - and this is key - Indian company - wrote letter and had me sign that I would be doing their accounts - because they wanted only me. Soon after, work was done in India and it was horrible - I had to edit - nightmare - but company was still telling them I was doing it.  I quit - docs left soon after.  I moved on to national - was contacted by docs but felt better off where I was and was afraid Indians would somehow get me on non compete clause, which of course they made me sign.

About 3 weeks ago, we were offered a bonus for doing extra lines on a certain account, and I did this, but I have not received my bonus. I feel very weird about asking where my bonus is as it has been 3 weeks, but I guess I will have to if I want to know what is going on!
Different subject, but similar ...

Similar Experience
I had a very similar experience with this company, except my test was only ten minutes. I think it was a project he got paid for and the testee didn't see anything for it. I hate being made to feel like a chump. Live and learn.
Similar experience at OSi
I don't care about their stinking job reference. I got sick of their abuse and lies and quit when I had enough. I went full-time with another company that I was already working part-time for. If you work for OSi go ahead and get a part-time job elsewhere because you will need it sooner or later. I'm too old to deal with crap like this from a company.
Similar experience
Worked for this company for about a year, Just to be stepped on, switched from account to account, and treated like dirt. Waste of time and energy. Pay was often late and incorrect. Best to stay away
I was in a similar situation...sm

I think you made a great choice by asking and receiving more work, and I really hope that helps you.  I had tried to stay loyal to my company for years, but with so many changes and pay cuts I finally had enough, and decided it was time to go look for some different poo to tolerate, because every job has it, just depends on you about how much and what you want to put up with.  I looked through the archives here, looked on the company board, and then just started jumping on to different company sites and testing.  I received several offers after testing, which btw is not nearly as hard as I had feared after being in the same job for several years.  I found and accepted a better job that pays more, and I actually feel appreciated again.  I do know there are a lot of companies looking for 2nd and 3rd shift, and I did compromise on my hours and days, I am going from a M-F to a S-T shift, that should tell you something.

Sometimes it just takes a little help from others to boost your confidence.  Some people sugar coat, some people vinegar coat, it all boils down to the same thing though.  See how the new account and work goes, and if you find you are still not happy, just start looking somewhere else.  Sometimes it just takes a different picture to make you happy.  Just don't be afraid to try.  You don't have to quit your current job to do it, use your slow time to train for the new job if that is the route you want to go.

Even the mean people are feeling the crunch of this time of year, no matter how much they want you to believe they are not affected, that is bologna.  It is very well known it slows down this time of year.  Maybe that is why they are so mean.  Us nice sunshiny people probably do make them ill with all of our life is wonderful, LA te da, look on the bright side attitudes.  That is again a choice, you can either find something to be happy about or you can find something to be hateful about.  It is not right or wrong, it is people.

So everybody quit bashing, and hope you all have a very Merry Christmas or whatever is your special holiday!

I am in a similar situation
I was hired by a company and told my start date would be Jan 9th.  Delays, delays.  Got everything installed on my computer this week.  We were instructed to be ready for training Thursday, and then nothing.  I emailed the supervisor and she said she would email a training schedule, but I haven't heard anything.  I don't want to pester her and start off on the wrong foot, but this is getting ridiculous.  I wonder if it is the same company as you.
RE: Similar situation
Does this company by any chance start with an M? I went through a very very similar situation and now I'm realizing the job is not worth it.
Something almost similar happened to me ....
I applied for and tested for a local in-hospital MT position, which is a county job, good benefits, hourly pay 40,000 yearly, small 250 bed hospital that only does discharges and a few ops, and hiring only two people for the transcription. I tested and interviewed back in February. I made a followup call and they were still interviewing. Well called today, the supervisor said I aced everything on the test, they were very impressed with my skills, but they just announced there has been a freeze on hiring for county jobs, and if and when the freeze is lifted, they would give me a call.
My VR experience has been similar. It's a lot of

Have had similar happen with DQS. SM
I used to work for a company that charged me 10 bucks a month to use DQS, while I worked for 2 other companies at the same time using the same software, neither of whom charged me a user fee. It happens, and I am not sure whether it is legal or not, but the argument is that if you are a contractor, they can get away with it.
Had similar experience with them... sm
I got paid, but couldn't get a consistent line count between us.  Also, they had me working for their trial period then fired right before the supposed raise was coming.  They give you a horrible marble, mouthed dictator then tell you he's head of the practice and most important.  I don't know about others but I'd make sure to do the 'head honcho' myself and give the lesser doctors to those I hired.  Meh.  I just wrote it off and moved on... but I got paid.  If I wasn't paid it would be a different story.
There is a similar topic below...
with EMR in the title. I'm personally not too worried about it. I think there will always be those who prefer dictation.
had a similar experience
My experience was one MT sending a mass mailing out asking for help with a word.

Then to see some of the responses she received which were absolutely wrong. So I can only imagine what the final product is like.

Not all MTs care about whether or not they are doing a professional document. I can't NOT do one!
very similar situation here in California
Main office in Ontario, California. What a mess. The US owner (great person) thought it was going to be good thing but it turned out bad for her and the US MTs.
You've got a point there. My Mom went through something similar

when the company she worked for was trying to get rid of the "older" workers.  They cut the fulltime people back to 28-32 hours, which meant they lost insurance and other benefits.  My Mom filed for unemployment for the lost wages, and she was reinstated in her position a week later.

My husband took hours and pay cuts at a job he had but never filed.  It didn't much matter as the company bankrupted and was bought out by a big national company.

It's similar to Smartype. Words pop up at the

I had a similar experience except I did not reveal my
I was locked out of the system without warning. When I resigned, I simply said I appreciated the opportunity to work there, I wished them luck with their business, blah, blah. By the 4th day of the first week, I began to have little work in my pool and no resonse from supe about getting more to make my line count. By 7th day of 2-week notice, I tried to sign in and got a message of invalid ID/password. I didn't have to talk to anyone. I knew what happened. They had found my replacement and need the work for the new person. I did an immediate uninstall of all their software and any documents related to the company.

It was a crappy thing to do and I won't give that company a good recommendation to this days, but hey, it was typical for how they ran their business. I was able to train earlier than had planned with the new company, so I wasn't out any money. When the supe called me and admitted he knew it was going to happen and didn't stop the _tech dept_ from turning off my access, I knew what a truly sick organization it was and counted my blessings for leaving when I did.

No regrets. Angry? At first, yes, because I did the right thing, but I got over it. I'm proud to say I don't work for that messed up company anymore and I found a lot of relief from my anger in that.
Which state? 2 out there with very similar names. nm

Similar situation for me at Amphion

On one account by the time I was through adding all the information I calculated that I was barely making more than minimum wage.  The reports were short and I spent more time adding the demographics than I did typing the report.  I did work on the university account as well and I never got the same dictator more than once.  I made less than half at Amphion as what I make now.  I was pretty new to MTing then and thankful to have a job but I knew that I could do better elsewhere.  I got some experience under my belt and now I make between $15 and $20 per hour which may not be a lot to some people but to a fairly new MT it is okay with me.  I do think it is a pretty good place to get some experience if you are starting out but it did not take long for the demographic data entry to get old.  Hope this helps.

What is Webmedx platform similar to?
Is it similar to DocQScribe or ExText? Just wondering.
Went thru very similar situation with Superior...
Had a firm job offer and had just ordered a new computer. I sent her the specs on the model I had ordered, she sent specs to IT who said it would work fine. She said they'd be ready for me to install and start the day the PC arrived.

Five days later, the compute rarrived. I emailed to let her know I was ready to roll; got no response. The next morning, I left her a voicemail and emailed; no repsonse to either.

Taking this is a huge red flag, I accepted another offer I had received a couple of days before and never looked back.

It's a good thing I didn't hold my breath counting on Superior to get in touch with me to start the account, because I never heard a single word from them again.

Some of these organizations are just FLAKY, IMO.
I totally understand and went thru similar bunk not
too long ago. Especially the T company. The only bright side for you is that you haven't accepted their mispresented positions and then been burned further down the road, hoping beyond hope that things would work out. As for the big M, truly it is a mess, but literally that recruiting firm is brandie new and obviously mass confusion...no excuse, but your timing was sure off on that one!! That is actually why I stayed with the big M. I gave it my best shot out there, and tried several companies, only to run back from whence I started, NEVER to venture out into that job hunting mess again voluntarily....and then I think Wal-Mart would be more appealing. I am sorry things are the way they are - makes no sense to me either. Recruiters certainly lost my respect, too. Either most misinformed bunch of employees for so many companies, or lying thru their teeth to make new hire quota. Not interested in knowing the answer - probably never will, but a horror story for sure.
