I guess my point was that it wouldn't surprise me if they DON'T know the law. sm

Because of who is in charge of it.

Nothing surprises me with them. Fake it till you make it.

Wouldn't surprise me any
If they have "QA to QA the QA'ers," you can bet that each step of the QA-ing will have the QA'ers who are QA-ing the QA-ers who QA the MT finding all the work "they" didn't QA to be crappy QA-ing.  LOL
It wouldn't surprise me at all.
nm
Not yet, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. sm
Have received more than 1 email regarding their attorneys and posting on this board.
Wouldn't surprise me to see that being s/m
1 cent per report.  After all...why should you get paid for typing yes over and over.  Before someone pounces on me I am definitely being sarcastic but still it wouldn't surprise me the way some of these MTSO suits apparently stay awake at night thinking up new ways to screw MTs.
It wouldn't surprise me that the co. didnt want to pay extra for something that helps me but coul

Thank you all for your answers..I guess there wouldn't be any way (sm)
they would know if someone worked PT for another company.  Thanks again.
I guess my original point was that it's not all good for all MTs

I was thrilled when KS called me, and I had really high hopes, in large part based on what I read here in this forum.  But my primary account dried up after the docs went to voice, and yet it's still my primary account -- with no work!  There are two of us attached to this account, even though there isn't enough work for one part-timer.  Lately I have been checking the account from 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., but there simply isn't anything to do.  The docs are doing their own work.  So why do we even have this account?

I too have a great relationship with my lead.  We talk on the phone every day, we e-mail every day, she regularly requests additional accounts for me, but still the work doesn't come.  It is truly a mystery, but based on some of the other comments on the boards, I'm not alone.

I've already had two backup accounts fizzle out, and I'm waiting to train on a third -- but I'm only to do overflow and won't have any regular work from the account.

That is great for you that your accounts are steady and reliable, and I would love to be in the same situation.  I expected to be in that situation!  I'm used to 1400-1600 lines per shift.  I have had really good feedback from QA, so my work isn't an issue.  All I am doing is asking for enough work.  I thought that was why I was here.  I can't wait for accounts they hope to get in a week, a month, two months.  I have tried to give KS the benefit of the doubt, rationalizing that the accounts drying up is out of their control, but I need work and my family is counting on me to bring in a paycheck.  I've been waiting for work for five months.  Would you wait that long?

I guess my point about the Labor Dept....sm
in my attempt at humor was not clear.  I reported this to the Labor Dept. over a year ago and we are close to a resolution, but it is taking this long.  I don't allow a company to steal from me without making a lot of noise, believe me!
Mute point, I guess, but is that what people
Even MT management feels that each and every one of us are low-down scoundrels who steal an hourly wage while surfing the net?  That's a shame!  I worked hourly for 17 years and was never treated in the way this manager above comes across.  I was told great work and went above and beyond even for that hourly rate, which was not much, but I had benefits.  There was no line requirement, but there was TRUST!
Would not surprise me
Immediately after posting a negative but factual comment about a service, I received a fail notice on their test - over two months after I took it.

Any company that assumes such a list is accurate you probably don't want to work with anyway...
Does NOT surprise me with DSG . . .
they really do not care about their MT's, and yes, I too was one of their biggest defenders until they turned on me. I was very hurt by it after all the loyalty and hard work I gave them. They do not appreciate it.
well i may be in for a surprise
but in my year with them, I find them to be very stable, with a consistent workflow. I do have several accounts to draw from, but I'm really surprised some of you have more than a rare problem with this.
It does not surprise me
at all. It is Indian owned and run. Keystrokes has 100% US staff (even tech support is here), and the owner is adamant against offshoring her work. Cardioscribes was probably just trying to avoid holiday pay for the US MTs. You'd think the Mumbai incident a while back would have taught doctor's offices a lesson about that country but I guess not :(
I was also taken by surprise...

but it seemed like a lot more than $30.  I took out family coverage on the new insurance and, since they hadn't taken the premium out before, to have it doubled the first time out seemed like a big chunk.  To add to it, I just got my card on Saturday.  I didn't even know the insurance coverage had started yet!  To go back and pay double since June 1st for coverage you didn't even know you had IS quite a blow.

Oh well, two more paychecks to go before we're out of the hole.   :)

I wish people wouldn't be so encouraging. Then maybe we wouldn't constantly run
.
Would not surprise me in the least. Something is coming not sure what.
:
Doesn't surprise me one bit...
same thing they always do...
That sure doesn't surprise me. And just think -
if they're willing to commit fraud on such a grand scale, then it's a no-brainer that the people there doing the grunt-work, (and getting shafted paywise in the process, just like we are), are going to look for ways to augment their earnings. Enter the fancy, company-paid-for PC, access to the internet, and access to confidential American information, and you have the potential for fraud and scamming that surpasses what we already know about Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, China, etc.

American businesses are too greedy, they already have more money than they know what to do with, and they are pitifully naiive when it comes to bringing the Third World countries into our corporate systems.

no raise, no surprise
I think I should have had one a year ago myself, but dared not ask because of the economic situation starting to cave and as bad as I want to ask now, I still feel the timing is not right. So many are struggling just to stay afloat and/or profitable.
I agree. It was a nice surprise! nm

What about these surprise situations with Transtech? --

Hard to compare to a normal job, as you are trying to do.  When there is no work at TT, they send out emails not to contact the office.  Of course, there is no pay, yet we reported to work on time ! These are always surprise situations to TT's at-home employees.  Good companies do not treat their employees like this.  You report to work and you are not sent home without pay.

TT is not the only company that treats their MT's like this -- but be sure to compare apples to apples !!!

Don't compare us with away-from-home jobs. Ex-MQ'er, your time is coming for being out of work.  You are new right now with TT and have nothing to compare to yet.

oh yeah, like that's a big surprise, gals
FN's greed shining thru their friendly facade.  Over-cover an account, make sure you don't earn enough, but they sure do.  Those of us who tried to warn everyone that they always ran out of work were basically told by posters on this board that we were not given work because we were not good enough and they were phasing us out, which was certainly not the case.  They just over-hire.  That way, their TAT is met, but the MTs don't earn enough to make a living.  And now, the bait and switch of going to VR?!?  They've got nerve.  Leave the ever-sinking ship; start warming up those resumes and bail out.
It caught me by surprise too -- I'm right there with you. Fortunately, I have a 2nd job sm

so that helps take the sting out a bit.  I love the people and love the company, but I do not think maybe they realize what a big shock $30 can be sometimes.  To me, the more fair thing to have done would have been to say something like effective next check, we will be taking out double premiums until we catch up or whatever.  However, cannot unring a bell.

And I have always been a bit disappointed that they wait until the following Monday to pay us instead of that Friday, but for the most part it is a good company.  Seems like all of the MTSOs hang on to their $$$ as long as they can -- guess the interest is better in their pockets than on our paychecks.    I was stupid and am now waiting a month to get paid for work I did for a woman in Virginia.  Chalk it up to lesson learned.

Good luck to you (and me!).

No surprise. We already knew this. Suprised that others are

At my company I'd ask for $18; probably wouldn't get it, but I wouldn't go lower. nm

Obvious lack of reading comprehension (no surprise there)
I am not management. I do VR; the term 'these people' refers to those who refuse to even CONSIDER doing VR and would rather jump ship than learn.

Honestly, I wish EVERY account at TT would go to VR to weed out all of those who can't comprehend a simple post. I'm not surprised so many of resist doing VR; the lack of reading comprehension which is vital to VR is obviously missing in many of you.

Sheesh, now I know what my dad meant when he'd refer to someone being 'stubborn as a mule' or 'head as thick as a rock', lol!
This shouldnt be a surprise. The owner herself posts on this forum all the time when KS is attacked
sad but true
Excellent point, and point in case
look at the charlatan christian in the
Whitehouse who uses religion to push his agenda...

Christian IS as Christian DOES...
I understand your point, my point is why can't MTs and QA work together..
being QA doesn't mean you are above everyone else, you are just an extra set of ears...and why do so many MTs take offense to QA??? That is my point...you made have had bad experiences in the past with QA but not all QA are bad...
Actually, I can see your point AND the opposing point
.
I wouldn't do it again...
I was trained on one portion of an account (4 new hospitals they got), and it was GREAT! I loved it, told my husband I was SO happy working with them. Then, training ended ... I got switched to the hospital I was hired for (although no one told me that during training), and OMG - it's AWFUL. I can't make a dime. It's either all ESLs that I absolutely cannot understand (and I've been doing ESLs for a long time), or English-speaking guys that are terrible. My rate has gone down tremendously. And, if you have tech problems - you have to e-mail tech support and wait for them to respond. So, like this weekend, I have tech problems and am sitting here with my thumb up my nose waiting for a dopey teckie to get on my problem. I begged them, in an e-mail of course, to CALL me so we could resolve the problem and I could get back to work. Still waiting for that phone call, and it's been since yesterday evening. So, no $$$. About a month ago, I would have told you - GREAT place to work. Right now, I'd have to tell you to RUN AWAY!
I wouldn't do it

Diddles:

To me these things are a big red flag about a company. My reaction would be that they are very controlling and if they are trying to control your speech on the Internet there will be many worse things to come.

I believe a lot of these companies make you jump through hoops, i.e., testing, paper work, etc. before they give you any answers about specifics just so you WILL feel like you have already invested a lot in time and emotion and will not turn back, which is another very good reason to not allow them to silence us on the Internet.  There is very valid information to be shared about companies which is neither bashing nor praising but just that - information allowing us to make a decision about whether a company would be a good fit for us or not - BEFORE doing all the testing.

You must have some doubt in your mind about this or you would not be here asking the question. Go with your gut instinct. There are many good companies out there who do not impose these types of restrictions.

LOL - wouldn't last a day at TSI.. is that
supposed to be a compliment? LOL....
I wouldn't say that...sm
most companies do not say how much they pay because anyone that was any good would not even test then. They also do not base pay on how well you do on the test. You could ace it and still get offered 7 cpl because that is what they start at, no matter how much experience and knowledge you have. Raises are also few and far between. jmo
I wouldn't
It took 7 weeks of my waiting around to get work and then they finally got me on an account and there was no work. One problem after another. Passed between departments, no one ever giving the complete story.

Sad way to run a business in my opinion.
I wouldn't even consider it!
There are MUCH better companies out there...and ones that pay every 2 weeks as opposed to monthly! I would NEVER take a job that paid only once a month!
...nm up there. Pay wouldn't go over 9 cpl not even with
s
I wouldn't...
I am an experienced MT with 30+ years of experience. I just left this company. First of all, they outsource ALL of the good job types/dictators to India. Secondly, whatever the Indians can't do, they send to ASR. If you are happy to be relegated to an ASR Editor making peanuts, or transcribing the really, really bottom of the barrel reports, then go for it. If you are looking for respect, honest and open communication, plus decent pay, I wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Precyse.
you wouldn't know...
you are not morbidly obese. Until you have lived a day in my shoes, save your opinions for someone who cares.
And they wouldn't be the only
xxx
I wouldn't run s/m
I would politely tell that recruiter where he could put his job and that would be where the sun doesn't shine! This should tell you what kind of integrity this company has. Congratulations to you for doing the right thing and giving appropriate notice.
P.S...... and I wouldn't be doing this for a
xx
Me too, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! sm
I can't believe how many MTs on this board are so miserable and getting SO ripped off! Direct Deposit is always on time for us at Webmedx, pay rate fair, good incentive plan. And I have plenty of work (most of the time, you have to admit that everyone runs out occasionally).
Why wouldn't you ask up sm
front in order to avoid wasting yours or their time what the pay scale was, or at least ballpark.  The time allotted doesn't sound unreasonable to complete the test.  If you bring experience and skill it's do-able.  Someone who cannot complete in that time may not be the best match.  Definitely ask up front next time about pay scale and if it's in line with your expectations.  If not, you thank them anyway, but no thanks and move on.
I wouldn't be so sure about that,
Check the labels in all your clothes, check the boxes the toys came in, check everything. Very little we buy (even at godalmighty walmart) is made in the US. Just because you buy it here, don't be sure it's made here.
Exactly why I wouldn't do this with others.
Sounds like your mom and your sister want the benefits of having their own accounts (higher pay), but want someone to do the extra work for them. Not the type of people I would want to get into business with.
I wouldn't, because it seems that all
that is a joy in your life you would not be able to participate in.   Our pets are just 4-legged children and it would take a lot for me to have to get rid of any of them.   You do what you have to do, especially these days, but I would have to keep exploring options at this point.
I wouldn't think so...sm
Im having almost the exact same problem. Im short on work, have sent emails to owner, etc..no answer. Looking for another part-time, no luck so far.

I would think that would be beneficial to them..being you are already trained and will require little if any startup time.
WMX wouldn't be so bad if...
ChartMatrix wasn't as slow as molasses.  Don't know anything about Enterprise though.  Is it faster than CM?  Any rad accounts for Enterprise?
you probably wouldn't want that job anyway.
Probably has a LOT of ESLs, so that is why they test that way, to see how you do.  Of course, we are all cold testing and that is always daunting.  I hope you hear from one of the other companies.
I wouldn't say more than what has (sm)
been said. There are people from the company (not us peons) here daily and you are lucky to get what little info is given here. You can keep asking but I doubt very much anyone else is going to go into any more than what is here already.
