It is like people who are not making money get mad at the ones who are....
doesn't make sense...I love working for Keystrokes...make good money, leads are fantastic and I have great accounts...
Axolotl - anyone ever had a very hard time making ..... SM

the required line count per day?  I have been plenty long enough to be making the line count all the time, but for some reason, I have never quite gotten there - at least consistently.  Now, I am not the fastest MT anymore, but I have always been able to do more than a minimum such as 1200 lpd.  I like the company (not the accounts so much, though), but this has made me seriously doubt my ability to produce.  Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and then left and did better line-wise,,,,if so, where?  TIA.

I am curious about the amount of money I am making at this time. I make around $700 every week and
I am wondering if this is average or if I am selling myself short as an IC.
Yes I thought it sounded nice. Just hard to change but it is time. Always a little bit of anxiety
about another company and leaving what you know and sort of starting over but sometimes it is time. You know, the fat lady sang.
The reason PT people have a hard time/
is because the majority of PTers are very cavalier about schedules.  They log on or log off at will, despite the fact they agreed to work specific days and hours.  I'm sure you are very reliable, but even the company I work for will not hire PT anymore because they are either undependable or they work a month or two and quit.  That's a lot of energy the company has to put in for no payoff.
As below, they do to full time people making 900 dollars per pay period. nm

Checks on time, 10 cents/line IC, nice people.

 .

I worked there part-time briefly. People are very nice to deal with, sm
and pay was okay.  You had to wait 90 days to get direct deposit, and until then checks were mailed, which is a bit of pain, but they were always on time.  I didn't care that much for my account, but the leader was always quite helpful.  They must be a bit disorganized, though, as I still get messages from the help desk to help out, and I have been gone at least 3 months!  And the help desk is apparently in India, if that makes any difference to you.
making money
I meant to say that I'm frustrated not making money where I am working, and wondering if it is possible to make money at Breitner?
Why are you not making money?
Is there no work?
making money

I'm not working for Breitner at this time. I'm working for T. I have work. I simply hate everything about this company.

I've read the posts about not getting paid at Breitner, but has this happened recently?

Is there a good paying job with good benefits anywhere?

Thanks for the answers.

And that's the BIG one - will keep you from making money. Isn't that enough?
nm
End up making less money one way or another.

Might as well settle for less money, because by the time the companies send you the ****** work, you will end up making less money anyway.

Sometimes I wish I only did clinic work -- I think I could make just as much as doing this VR left-over acute care.

Doing VR and making money

Everyone can flame like they want but I have noticed on here that people are sitting and waiting for work, end of the pay period. if you got a decent account doing VR plus regular mixed in with it, you would be amazed at what you can make. I am not management, am not being a cheerleader for any particular company but what I am saying sitting and waiting on a particular place to have work sometime in the future is just crazy. I know everyone says they are not doing work they were not trained for but to stay around and stay in this particular kind of work, it seems to be going that way towards VR. I was trained for regular straight typing with transcription and now I really hate to do straight transcription work. It can be done and everyone on her complaining of no work should really find a place that suits them and where they don’t have to worry about not making a living.

Making money at UST
I worked there a couple of years ago and at that time it was like any other company, had good times when there was a lot of work and other times where it was very slow for awhile, but I haven't worked there for about 2 years. I agree with the poster above about the pros and cons, but would have to disagree with the president being a sweetheart. I did not have the same experience as the above poster did, but other than that the poster was dead on about the pros and cons.
Very nice people, nice place to work. nm

Yes, nice QA (and nice people in general), but very little work right now. nm

hard to make money
One account has a rotten platform that doesn't work half the time and has a long record of miscounting lines.  Just about everything is 100% listen which makes it even harder to make money by the line.  Big turnover in account managers lately so expect to work for phone clerks and HR clerks who have been promoted to account manager (cheaper that way) and people who have no acute care experience whatsoever.  You've probably already been told there is no holiday pay, the vacation time sucks, and the insurance is horrible.  If you just need editing experience to move on, that that's the place.
If your going to be an RN just for more money your making a mistake..sm
I was an RN and I hated it.  Horrible hours, awful doctors with egos, patients who have no respect for you, etc.  People who are RNs do if for the love of helping people, not money.
So the company is not making any money???
The oil companies tell us they are not making any money either! Wonder how they can all manage to stay in business.
Are you making good money there?

I'm very happy there. Making more money
than I've made in a very long time.  QA nice but tough.  Excellent insurance that is very affordable.
Compared to what I'm making now, "a lot of money"

Do you REALLY believe the MTSO is making more money off VR? Did it
occur to you that they are charging the client less because they have to? Please don't make comments like that unless and until you actually know what you're talking about.
There are MTs making this type of money.. It's just too bad that you cannot fathom it! nm

Anyone making more money with national company than (sm)
when you worked for a hospital, taking into account the benefit package you had with the hospital?  If so, any explanation as to how you are doing better or worse would be much appreciated.
Like I said before...you start making decent money
and they find a way to keep your line count down.  After 8 years of this BS, I'm looking outside of transcription.
Note about the MTs making lots of money - sm

I, too, routine make lots of money in this field.  I have to laugh at the naysayers.  They can't see how it is possible.  Well, it is.  The jobs are few and far between but they are there.  I have made $$ on accounts with and w/o gross line pay, actually more money on the one w/o the gross line.  Depends on way too many factors to be able to put down here.  Here are a few:

1.  I work hard.

2.  I am an excellent MT.

3.  I do not go on message boards, surf the net, answer the phone, do laundry, etc. when I am working.  I get in the zone.  Nothing interrupts me.

4.  I never settled for mediocre pay.  I searched and searched for the companies I knew I could make money with.

5.  I've been doing this a LONG time and know my stuff.

6.  I am extremely organized.

7.  I went to college for MT and worked in-house for a long time before working at home.  This in itself is a HUGE key to knowing your stuff.

The people who make good money at MT are kind of like people who have lost a lot of weight.  Everyone wants to know their secret.  Well, there is no secret to either.  Both take a lot of hard work and know-how.  There are no gimmees in life; you have to search it out, work your butt off to achieve and work hard to keep it.  No one said it was easy.  Life is hard.  It is what you make it.

Build people up instead of tearing them down.  Be glad for people who can achieve.  Learn from them.  That is how you grow as a person.

Good day!

Pay isn't bad, but alot of ESLs. Hard to make money.
NM
Glad you are happy. You making good money there? sm

It is the only place I have been for 5 years that I feel I am not being ripped off and making money
I work hard but I did for the other companies too and bit by bit more things were stripped away and I would end up making half again. Keystrokes has given me confidence again, and I am making money. That is the name of the game, that is me though. I love it here.
FUNNIEST THING..they all think you're making all this big money (LMAO) -nm

Very nice but hard to get line count due to lack of work...nm
s
Once again, you people are making my point...
Former SS Employee- I would think that if were smart enough to actually have worked for that fine company at one time, you would be able to 1) decipher a joke when you hear one, and Letterman made plenty of BTK jokes in his lifetime, and 2) you would even BELIEVE that poster was, in fact, an SS employee. Why? Is it because you WANT to? Ok, I work for Medquist. I think the BTK was brilliant for remaining uncaught for twenty years. There, as a result of that post, alll Medquist employees suck and are sick and deranged. Please- get a life!!!
Are people just making this stuff up?
Why would you think only low counts can do VR and why would they even want to or do good with it? I have seen this said, said only newbies could do, people probably just running it on through without checking for mistakes and other idiotic things. It makes no sense at all. I was always fast, do
straight as well, type almost exclusively in shorthand, have templates and I do good with VR. Where do you people get these ideas from?? Makes no sense. My line count straight over 2000 per day always and I do not consider that low count.
Yikes? I know it might be hard to believe, but there are people who are happy with MQ.
I just happen to be one of many. No weekends, time 1/2 for holidays if I work, 10c per line, fast platform, and every day I learn something new. Have gotten offers from Transtech, MDI-MD, Hypertype and Webmedx, but I'm still with MQ. I'm not stupid, far from it, I just KNOW that they are all the same. MQ happens to be the biggest and some people just can't handle that. They will bounch back, just wait....
For nice people.....:)
Hey, I'm nice. Can I post?

Hmmm.....what made me happy today? Bf sent flowers; that did it! LOL

Thanks for starting this post, nice to see a good one once in awhile. :)
Nice people ????
I worked at FN for a year and found the people there (with the exception of a couple) to be very difficult and not really caring about their workers whatsoever. I got tired of the ESLs, the people there, and running out of work...so I found another job. I suggest you do the same...you'll be much happier!

Very nice people
I couldn't disagree more with Olive Oyl.  I've worked there almost a year myself, and I find everyone to be very nice.  I don't get the feeling at all that they do not care about my well being!
Really nice people
I have worked there in the past, and the administrative staff/owner are reallyk nice, understandable, and easy to work with.  I would recommend them.
Nice People

From what I remember this Tracey had a conflict with the operating system on her laptop and there were problems with initial installation but her overall experience with GIS ended up pretty good.  I think she had to leave because she could not afford to continue her training as she had just graduated MT school.  The people at GIS are awesome to work for.  I have been there a little more than 2 years and I love it.  There are no bipolar supervisors.  I think I know who made that post and she was given a one in a lifetime opportunity to slide into management and she failed miserably.  Don't know why she blames it on GIS.

Really nice people there,
but it is the only company I have ever quit on the spot with no notice.  They had me completely at my wits' end.  They didn't have enough work on the accounts they gave me so they kept switching me around - I think I had 4 different accounts in about a week and a half.   Because there was no training pay, I couldn't keep putting in all that time learning new stuff.  I wouldn't have been able to pay my bills.  The people there are really nice though.
Very nice people....sm
I did general transcription for them briefly, I loved it, the sound quality was awesome!!!!!!!, but I could not handle it with working my full time employee position.  It was just too much for me. They paid me on time, but for general transcription, the pay for general transcription may be low for some, but I was only doing this for extra money part time....
This is too bad! Why would such nice people
go through this? Every Christmas they would have a party for us, and they would never forget us! I left for personal reasons, just to take some time off and be with my children. I hoped to go back b/c I thought they were so family oriented. I hope that things turn around for everyone there.
Nice to see people who like where they
work and what they do.  Question for all you TTers out there.  I looked at their web site and they say they want 5 years of experience.  Do you know if they'll consider people with 2 years?  thanks for your input.
I find it hard to believe with this new pay plan coming out soon that they will be paying people
that rate and I understand all offices will be paying the same base rate and I seriously doubt they will be paying all MTs 9.50 base rate with incentive to get 2 more cents at 1600 lines. That is more than they are paying most now and have stopped giving raises.
It's a hard time for all of us
I know every one of us involved is very torn, stressed out and I think we should cut one another some slack.

A big huge to all my fellow DRCer's. RIP, DRC.
I had a hard time following the OP

I wondered if maybe the OP was just too upset to be posting - or did I have a brain fart - to be able to post cohesively, but it seems someone else was able to follow the logics of it through.  I can't be mad at anyone for _jipping_ me out of lines if I am responsible for sending in the invoice.  As someone else said, it was a lesson learned.  3000 lines at say, 8 cpl, would just about have paid for a reputable line counting program, especially if you add in losing 3-some hours of valuable time from reinstalling programs that went haywire after downloading freebies which seemed to have caused more problems than they solved.  Some people learn more easily than others.  kaysarasara (not defending the misspelling at this time of night)

good people who all go to Hawaii while making you work every weekend. nm
