TT is also hiring for a cancer hospital that is supposed to be starting later this year. They have
of four new hospitals starting between September and December.
I was hospital in-house for 13 yrs
and only did radiology. There were gals who did basic 4 called the MR people.

Pathology, orthopedics, cardiology and the morgue, among others, had their own transcriptionists. NONE of us did everything.

Fair question.
Try in-house at a hospital.

same here, i use it for my in-house hospital job. love it

I think she means in-house at the hospital. nm

I work in-house at a local hospital...
And it's been pretty much famine conditions there, too. We're having to use our VH hours when we're called off for lack of work. I don't know where you're located, but I'm in central California. Perhaps it's a nationwide phenomenon for some reason.

Hang in there. The powers-that-be where I work keep telling us it's just temporary (although I'm preparing for the worst).

~hugs~
The Transcription House does, but don't know if she's hiring right now.

This site USED to post in house hospital jobs - sm
And this is just MY opinion, but I think what probably happened is that the hospitals were probably getting bombarded with every MTSO service contacting them, and individuals contacting them about outsourcing their work, and it probably became too much for them. An acquaitance mentioned one time that she had advertised on this board for on site and specified that it was on site, along with very specific job specifications, and apparently it didn't matter - everybody and their brother applied for the job, including waitresses and nannies who had never even had one iota of medical terminology, let alone job experience.

That's just my 2 cents
Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's in Kentucky has an In-House, days MT spot

You all have a point. I forget how this at-home thing works. I used to work in-house at a hospital.
and... we got paid extra for working holidays and even weekends and evenings. I am new to this at-home thing and it's pretty disappointing. I think I'm back to the hospital..
I never, ever heard of such a thing, even when I worked in-house.

The Transcription House out of Arizona, anyone heard of???
I would like any information on this company. I am googling MT companies and am coming up with ones I haven't heard much about. Anyone work for them? Good, bad, ugly??

Old MT - I know of another hospital hiring sm
if you are interested.
Our hospital still uses them and they can't be that antiguated as our system was purchased 2 year
I think the quality is much better than tapes. It is the same as talking on the phone. I also work part time for a service on two accounts that use a c-phone and I only need one phone line.
Yes, still hiring. They are adding two more hospitals before the end of the year and are looking
for like another 30 or 40 MTs.
They are out of Rock Hill, SC....
No website that I know of.  I think they are a small MTSO.
Anyone else feel like DRC is going down hill?
Why is there barely any work for all accounts?  The holiday has long since been over.  I think that maybe things are starting to go down hill.  Too funny that this happens as we come around the bend to the end of the first 90 days.  I have a very hard time believing that a holiday we had last week is still affecting us already 1-1/2 weeks later.   I know on the account I work on, an e-mail was sent out saying there several overly motivated MTs and telling the other MTs who have a problem finding work to try to get in most of their lines during the first week to avoid problems getting lines.  Who says things like this to employees???  Obviously people are having a hard time, thus that e-mail being sent out as a reply.  I cannot believe that they even put another post out on MTJobs hiring.  How can they hire when their current MTs do not have work?  I also wonder if these overly motivated MTs are MTs in India?  There are a lot of companies who say they do not outsource to India to their customer's faces and then turn around behind their back and do just that.

I make far more than 200 lph at MDI using Bayscribe. Have you tried MDI?
Do you work in-house here? I applied last August & was told in-house only and they weren't

I heard Focus was bought out by Dictaphone (Nuance) less than a year ago. So I think it would be a s
move. Nuance's website looks sturdy, and I know dictaphone is doing well, so how can a company with that kind of backing give you any kind of worry? I'd take it. Good luck whatever you decide.
Diskriter off off offshores - and on some hospital accounts - they have not informed the hospital

Jewish is the main hospital, St. Mary's is another hospital under their management. (nm)

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

First for hospital, then outsourced still on same hospital work
and believe it or not, the hospital was so much easier. Had worked at the hospital for 11 years before they outsourced and then worked another 3+ years for the company they outsourced to. What a difference! The company had so many rules and regulations you could hardly keep up with them all, thousands of them, on the same account, mind you. The higher ups would not leave you alone, constant IMs about any and all. I have gotten to the age where I do not need all that and walked the other week. Have scheduled testing with another hospital for this month. Hope I make the cut, love the hospital work 1000 times more than a company.
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

Maybe MQ is over hiring now in preparation for something. Must be some reason they keep hiring when
some people have not work.
I've heard only positive things about them. So, I applied, but haven't heard a word. Maybe fl

Then get an in-house job so there are no
your current position.
In house?

Just curious if that had at-home transcriptionists.  Sorry, I dont know about their testing, but I had thought about applying there before also, so will watch this thread.

In-house
Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I would love to get back into a hospital.
In-house only. sm
They listed the opening on MTjobs.com. Check there for info.
In-House
Yesss...and that is one of the reasons hospitals began outsourcing..
That's in-house only. Tried that already... nm

If you are in house, and they are (sm)
having trouble with the home people now, chances are excellent they will continue to have the problems when you go home until they get someone out to fix it.  If all the home MT's are having trouble, then the clinic needs to get someone in to fix it.  Maybe you might have more to say about that while you're there.  Once you go home, you're stuck like everyone else.
im a in-house MT, BUT
I might sound sneaky and dishonest, but I really think that whether you're an IC or employee, they have no say. Unless it's in the contract. But then again, I really don't think they can find out. I also work for a private office consisting of 4 docs who also dictate for the hospital. That friend whom I mentioned who used to work for a vendor AND our hospitals--she now has her own business and I work under her also as an IC in the clinic setting. Our boss doesn't know this because the 4 docs I type for also dictate for 1 of our hospitals. I fear the conflict interest issue. I make $22 by the actual hour plus incentive for the hospital, but as a single parent, I need more than that. I really don't know if I could get in trouble because during my IC shift, I'm not typing for the hospital.

Good luck, I know where you're coming from as far as really wanting just 1 job but needing to live, pay bills, and eat.
in-house
I left MQ after 20+ years to go in-house. I assumed I'd take a pay cut, but because of all the changes at MQ and constant lowering of pay, I decided I'd trade the money for some security. I was totally surprised that because of my experience, I started at more than $20.00 an hour, plus shift/weekend/holiday differentials and great benefits. I did have to change my schedule slightly (working afternoons/evenings) but again the differential comes into play so made it worthwhile. Only work 1 weekend a month, no holidays (unless I want to) and the pay is hourly, no production, no worries about NJA. The future of making a living with the MTSOs seems to be more and more uncertain so in your shoes, I'd definitely look into going back in-house. Also my employer now sends their MTs home to work after training and I think a lot of other hospitals are looking at doing the same thing. I know it will be an adjustment for you not working at home, but I've never regretted it for a moment.
in-house MT now
Four months ago, I started work for a local hospital and couldn't be happier. I've been a Transcriptionist for 33 years, and this job has been a God-send. No stress, no minimum line counts, paid hourly (excellent pay) exceptional benefits, low cost health care. I had been an at-home transcriptionist for 10 years, and the work had decreased to the point that my last pay check was only $500.00 for a two week period. I was facing foreclosure on my home. On my interview, the director informed me that they had an outside company, but decided to bring transcription back in-house to be more cost effective for the department.
What planet are you on? Put your name on here so the OSI hen-house
among each other?  Sorry, but you need a reality check.
They must have cleaned house, then. sm
This was a few years ago. However, anybody can do a search of these (and other) boards and find that this was (and I think continues to be) their reputation.
Work in house
I currently work in house for a hospital in Maine who is going from pay per hour to pay per line
Ops are being kept in-house more and more. Lucky to get the few that come my way. nm
