Talking about low pay is not bashing a company

AGain, they wouldn't be hiring if the pay was not so darned low!  I heard they are very nice.  I have not personally worked for them, but people want replies whether they are good or bad, and even the moderators say to not take everything you read on here to heart. 


If people want to apply and be paid that low rate, then go ahead. 


If Mary H is so honest and ready to help, why didn't she answer the pay rate question?  It's a fair question that deserves a fair answer. 


There is no problem with tooting your own horn, but when someone goes quiet all of a sudden when the subject of pay rate comes up, it just sends a message that the pay is probably very low. 


Some people are not worried about nice management because that's not what pays the bills.

Yeah, I got my 1099 too.  It included the couple of thousand dollars for invoices that she's never paid me for.  She really deserves her due now, doesn't she??  On the bright side, maybe the IRS can do something with her.  Cuz I ain't paying taxes on that money she's never paid me.

I agree, this makes no sense and my guess is all the HIPPA folderol is just a smokescreen this person is throwing up (for whatever I do not wanna deal with this or stick my neck out for ANY reason) ...


alternatively -- I would recommend saving each and every report you type from this person AND THEN  flagging the report for QA  so you can fill in your own blanks if no one wants to help you.  I type several doctors who  -- without samples -- speak in some impenetrable monotone ... without my file of samples, their reports would be moth-eaten.


good luck - if your company has a chat board or if contacting someone else on that account/WT might be a (much less convenient and/ or discrete) alternative.


Good luck, Yes, people do actually quit jobs over dictators like that ... too bad so many companies seem to blame the MT and some imaginary work ethic problems when the real problem, imho, is lack of support. 


All this turnover of MTs (or any other employee class) is VERY VERY bad for any company's bottom line...  but so many companies seem to blame the MT personally ... it poisonous.

I too would like answers because half a truth is worse than a total lie because you mislead with half the truth and do much damage.  Please clarify these issues for us.


1.  Why would the company go to all the trouble to pull this two-bit prank when they could just say good bye to you if they wanted to.  You have been ranting to all of us on shift with you for months about how you have been mistreated and were going to sue the company and demand unemployment.  You did not tell the good MTs here who are ready to take your side and defend your position that All Type has a 3 strike rule and that you have told several of us that you were written up once for failing to make production of 1200 lines a day and then spewing some pretty foul language in an email to a supervisor about them making you do OP notes and type ESLs and how that was not fair to you.  It is an acute care hospital.  That is what we do.  Do you remember telling us about being written up for falsifying your time card?  Honestly, that is pretty serious.  If you were the one telling us that, i cannot even imagine what you are not telling us and what your personnel file looks like. 


2.  I have not seen anyone leave, voluntarily or involuntarily on our team in some time.  So who are you referencing when you say a lot of people quit or were fired.  No one stays at a company that is horrendous and unfair out of the kindness of their heart.  Are you telling us you just felt sorry for the company and the management team you hated and stayed to help them out? 


3.  Evidently you believe that you are a very high caliber employee and MT.  I would think you would be able to go anywhere and find a perfectly wonderful job.  I know most companies are just begging for real talent.  Unemployment is probably your only alternative because we both know that you are NOT capable of working in any acute care setting - and unemployment and legal sources are going to laugh you out of the offices if you tell them the truth! Even if you fail to tell them the real story, your history is well documented.   


4.  From all of the foul statements you have made about this company and their management for months and threatening legal ramifications if they mess with you - I wonder why you would want to be a part of a company that you have made clear to any of us who will listen how much you hate All Type and all of the management.  I also wonder if you do not know that from the beginning when you started making statements to the rest of us about lawsuits - that the company most surely handed your file over to a legal team.  I suspect the legal department has been involved in all of this for several months. 


Good luck missy.  I have worked with you for well over a year and your professional behavior and abilities leave a lot to be desired.  You have been so disruptive that most of your team has blocked you from IM and we are all glad that your drama from 4-12 everyday is finally done.  You should have been doing your job instead of driving us all crazy with your IMs and maybe, just maybe this company would have valued you.  As it is, what goes around comes around and your cheating, backstabbing, and lies came back around to you.  I salute Karma!!!


Try contacting someone who has been there for a while to get the real story
you cant go by what someone says that is not there any longer. They are probably holding a grudge and will speak poorly of a company. you only get one side of the story and not necessarily the correct one.

I, myself, have been there for 2 years and plan to be at TH for a long time.

No they dont have incentives. Usually those who do provide incentive lower your base rate and make it look like you are getting extra.

No they dont have shift differential because if they hire you for 2nd shift, they normally pay you a little higher to begin with.

They DO PAY Holiday pay but you have to work if you dont ask off. Thus, you get holiday pay plus your line count which comes out to be double time like you are supposed to be paid.

How many companies do that?

NONE that I know of except TH.

Of course no company is perfect and if there is, good luck finding one.

I get paid on time, pick my own schedule, expected to work my schedule or notify them if I cannot stick to it for some reason, get QA feedback respectively, etc.

They have been growing in size and have been adding management to deal with the size. That is the only change I have seen in management.

I took a job with Navesys a few months ago.  The work has been steady and so have my weekly paychecks. 
Contacting labor board.

Could some one tell me how to go about contacting the labor board about an issue with my employer?  Since I am a remote MT do I contact the labor board in my state or the state my employer is based?  This has to do with pay that I believe was deliberately shorted out of my paycheck as a retribution because I did not type reports on my secondary account that were approaching TAT when I was contacted about it by instant messenger an hour after my shift was over.  I wasn't even at my desk an hour after my shift was over.  I also found out a couple days after the fact that an email from my account manager's supervisor was sent to an email account I no longer use stating that I was requested by my AM to type some reports so they don't go out of TAT and would I please log on and complete these reports. 


Now, lo and behold, my paycheck will be short by almost 800 lines because these 800 lines supposedly sat in QA and weren't completed by the time the pay period ended, even though my shift ended at 4 p.m. on the last day of the pay period.  I have worked for this company for a whole year and this is the first time I have ever heard that the MT is not credited the lines produced until cleared by QA...and I'm not even on 100% QA.  Furthermore, I can't see how I would have even SENT 800 lines to QA in a day.  After multiple emails to both my AM and her supervisor requesting some sort of documentation where these lines went to, I still have heard nothing in regards to this and I'm fed up.  Is this something the labor board will even handle?

Been with them for nearly 2 years now and absolutely love them. I make my living with them - I don't do this for fun money. I think the dictators are pretty decent - you will always have your good and bad ones. You just have to get used to them. I love the account I am on - been with the same one since I started. They are a VERY fair company to work for.

I have no reason to meet with you, have a good job and certainly do not care to discuss with you where you send your work. I know what I read and it was quoted by a top official at your company. Even though you said the newspaper slanted the story like they wanted it to read, I saw quotes and never saw where the paper did a retracation of the story.
I love this company
I've been with them since last June and went with them full-time as an MT in September. (Left a supervisory job with another company). Insurance is very good and much better (and cheaper) than my last job. I NEVER have had any problems with No Work except at the usual times like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm on a hospital account, so maybe that's why (as opposed to a clinic-type account).

I'm not bitter at all. And I love my company and my
job. Just made an objective commentary on how all the cheerleading for this company can strike some as cautionary. And your overreaction still confirms to me that something is fishy with these posts... That does not equate to bitterness, but rather, wisdom...And I never said I believe negative posters but not positives - you're reading a lot more into my simple statement.
I wouldn't say I LOVE my company
but I am satisfied at this point because I am not running out of work, the platform I am on is easy and counts fairly and the dictators are about what you find everywhere -- some hard to nearly impossible, some easy, mostly middle of the road to good.  My pay per line is VERY low for my experience (18 years) but if I stay focused I make a good hourly wage.  QA is very hands-off, but accessible if they are needed.  Did I mention that I don't run out of work?  I have to realize that times have changed and I may never make $30-50 an hour again.  My company is stable, but they off-shore.  One more thing -- I don't run out of work.  :)   Feel free to e-mail.

Just something been going on for just a few days. I thought maybe somebody else out there could shed some light. I work nights so when I have work coming in that was dictated that morning not done and it skips around, thats kinda strange. I dunno maybe somebody assigning at the facility is what I suspect to get those short and horrible dictators out of the way. Really hurting my line count though. Will definitely talk to the lead if it doesn't stop.

account that has been running low, but just when I think I might need a backup account, the primary kicks back in.  I think these smaller companies are the way to go these days.

Please let me know if you work for a great place and why you like them.  I currently work for Medware and I'm unhappy.  I have applied at Axolotl, Webmedx, Encompass, SoftScript, eTransPlus, ATSI.  Do you know anything about these companies?

We take a job expecting some semblance of constancy. We are not teenagers living at home.

And I have yet to meet an MT who does this for free, as a hobby, 40 hours a week.

Here we are, in the U.S., where insurance is expensive, the economy is mutilated and dirt cheap labor is just across the deep blue sea.

Some whine more than others but this Gourdpainter, I have been reading her for a long time, and from the tone of her posts, she is not a (an?) habitual complainer. She is helpful and considerate in her posts to new MTs and others who have a question.

United we Stand, Divided we Fall.

Just like the coal miners back in Pennsylvania, the company will let you eat coal dust all day long to save themselves the cost of ventilation, and then fight to not have to pay for the medical costs of an aging coal miner with black lung and ashen colored skin. No one made him go down there, I know, I know, but a man has got to feed his family. Work is work, you take what your skills will get you.

Fair enough - Some huge corporation is going to sue someone over a thread on the internet. This is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Have you read message forums elsewhere on here? There are disparaging remarks made about everything under the sun.

Word of mouth travels far and wide, and so does the truth.

So give us a break and let us make enough money to live a respectable life in this job which we do with steadfast dedication if we make it over 3 years.

I have ever worked for.  There is always plenty of work, pay is decent and on time, and best of all I am treated well.  They offer all kinds of bonuses, continuing education pay, vacation pay, reasonable insurance through Aetna, life insurance.  Am I getting rich off this?  No.  Am I paid reasonably well?  Yes.  Would I recommend Transtech?  Absolutely!
I love the company I work for and I just wanted to share
that with you all so that if you are not happy, realize there is hope out there.  I worked for Healthscribe/Spheris for over 2 years until I found this position.  I am a SE for MDI out of Maryland and I make 10 cents per 65 character line including spaces.  This is a great smaller company that does not offshore.  I am left alone to do my work but I have somebody there if I need any questions answered, etc.  QA is wonderful too.  They didn't dump me into an account full time, they let you ease into your account over a 2 week period doing 5 reports a day so you can work your other job until you are taken off of QA.  I was off QA in a week.  My account is great, the platform is great (Bayscribe), production Expander is user friendly.  For all you unhappy MTs, there is hope out there.

Sounds like you have it pretty good.   I didn't get squat from my company, and there are times when I do not even get a paycheck on time.  If your company is making a profit and able to pay you on time and offer an incentive, and is not owned by some private equity firm that may go under -- you are very lucky.

No, I do not work for OSi however, as a medical Transcriptionist with 20+ years of experience and QA experience -- I have seen and heard it all -- "I cant work weekends because I want a 9 to 5 job, I want to make 100,000 a year because that is what the ads promise  -- I think that I can stay home with toddlers, and post on these boards all day"  Truth be told, it's a hard profession  -- the doctors names are not given, if you work for a compay in one state and live in another, you have to do the research  -- these advertisements that are on television promise a wonderful salary, BUT.... you have to work your butt off to get that salary  -- I have, as many of the OLDER and SEASONED MTs have seen a change in the "work ethiic"  You want to be able to have your cake and eat it too  -- MT is NOT an 8-5 Monday-Friday job -- I work for two services and am STILL barely able to make ends meet  - its not India, its not the Phillipines or anywhere else -- its learning the English language and THINKING for yourself once in a while -- "gee I can't find this or that" well, its a sad statement on our society, because when I learned to spell, I learned with phonics -- another thing that I had an advantage with in this field was that I sang from grade school and college and if I didnt "understand the translation" then I was lost  -- its NOT only typing -- its getting off boards like this and LEARNING something instead of "griping and complaining"

If they HAVE work the people complain that there is too much work and if they DON'T HAVE work the people complain. Obviously the people complaining about TT not having work haven't got much experience working as an MT. You can't go out and get more work just to compensate for the slow times. TT usually has plenty of work...the hospitals get slow from time to time....DUH! It always gets slow this time of the year with the doctors taking their last vacations of the summer, people in general taking vacations,etc. Give up...go somewhere else if you don't like it. Leaves more for us.

You have posted several things on here about what a hot mess. You are saying you are not doing. How do you know what the platforms are like and how it works? Gosh, I thought you were trying to do and coming up short, did not know you are not working on it.

I'm not going to bash you at all because I feel the same, and you're post helped me feel better about tht. I've been with MDI for 15 years (OMG!!!) and just feel so overwhelmed right now at the prospect of having to start over completely. I've been moaning and groaning to DH about this for days but today I'm putting on my big-girl panties, as they say, and am trying to find a new attitude. Who knows how things will work out, but I've got my fingers crossed and am saying my prayers! I know it's not for everyone, and for those who are moving on, I wish you all the luck in the world. Each one of us has to do what's we think is best. I'm going to try to start thinking positively about this and you never know, in the end it could be a good thing. Putting on my Happy Face now!
