I make more than that with Spheris but never have work. I would rather make $1.25 and have work. s

In Reply to: I don't consider $1.25 a report good pay, I made that - HRH

My SIL works for KS, and she gets paid double for linked reports too. Where do you get $2.25? I am ready to leave Spheris.

I make 4 cents a line, work part and make
over $500 a week on part.
Webmedx - low work ? Can you make up lines when work available (sm)
or do you have to schedule a make up time or just do without the lines?
if you CAN make it work - take all you can. I have 3!! go for it.
xx
You will work like a dog at 4 cpl and not make much.
I suspect they do not pay for footers, headers, spaces, etc. I used to work there and it would like me 12 hours just to make $100 and I think I am fairly fast. Someone wrong with that picture.
Make sure they have enough work
I worked for them maybe 6-7 years ago and they didn't have enough work, we were running out every day. They only had one major hospital account, the rest clinics. It was a long time ago, things may have changed. Be sure to check that out!
Nothing there to make you sad ...Still one of the best you could work for. SM

Why bring this thread up to the top after all this time?

The OP said she was low on work on one particular account.  She asked if anyone else had experienced this.  I responded I had been low on work on that particular account as well.  The original thread really ended with OP saying thanks, she just didn't want to think she was the only one experiencing the shortfall.  So now she does not have to feel that she was singled out to receive less work.  I don't think that was ever the case, it never has felt that way to me.  And the fact is that there has been more than enough work available on that particular account for this entire past week.

Neither the OP, (Anon) or the respondent, (myself - Wise) wrote anything in any way negative.  Certainly NOTHING was said about any particular person, including about any particular recruiter.  It was strictly a question about work flow.

Why people have posted emotions, such as stunned, or saddened, about a very routine question, is beyond me.  If we worked in office, we would certainly ask our coworker about everyday matters such as this one.  While a short period of low work load can be frightening and frustrating, knowing that I'm not the only one reassures me that I'm not being singled out.

Just as the recruiter writes in the latest ad on the other site, DRC is the best MT job I have ever had, and I am glad to tell my MT friends about them.

These knee-jerk reaction posts insinuating that something else was written really serve no purpose except to inflame.

I can see that it will be better for me to confine my answers to individual e-mails from now on for anything but the What's for dinner? questions.

As an IC I make .09 and work
freely on my own.  I REALLY do love working for them!  They are very flexible.  I have had a good experience with them!
Do you get enough work to at least make
.
I only make about 20K but then I only work

They can't make you do it. They can tell you when the work is there,
as someone else said, if you can't or don't want to work at the times they have work available, they'll find someone else who can. The client IS allowed to specify what they want/need, there is no set rule about that, but they can't MAKE you do anything. They can stop offering work if you aren't meeting their needs, but unless they pay your taxes, they can't set your hours for you.

The painter analogy is good one because if you hired a painter, you can tell them you don't want them there in the middle of the night, what painting you need done, what kind of paint you'd like, etc. A good IC painter is going to do their best to provide those things to please their client and obtain more work or referrals, but they certainly don't HAVE to do so. They could still show up to paint in the middle of the night while your family is sleeping and use lead-based paint, but would you keep that painter on or find a new painter who can work during the day and uses the paint you prefer?
I'd make sure which one has enough work.

With Transcend, too much instability. If you want to find yourself jumping from account to account when one runs out, then you'd do fine. Personally, it is too frustrating to me to constantly have to jump around. It hasn't always been this way so I suspect either overhire or sending more work to India than they already do.

You'd better make sure you work your
I take it these are employee positions.... No IC should be working a set shift; if you are, you are really in a desparate situation.  LOL  - too funny how MTs will stoop to scramble to test and await a response from someone who obviously cannot even post a job correctly.  Just my 2 cents.  This Debbie Hicks lady needs to get over herself in a big way.  The ones who got the job ; check back and let us know how it goes -
Isn't asking you to make up work..
.. that wasn't available during your schedule like asking an employee to sit on the office with no pay for their work schedule, but please come back at midnight to see if we have work for you?  Um, how is THAT legal?
ever wish you could work at Walmart or somewhere and make enough??

There are days when I shake my head and wonder what the he** was I thinking 20 years ago when I decided this is the life for me.  NOW I am stuck to the money like glue and nothing pays like this ... so I'm damned if I do ... damned if I don't.

We were shopping the other day and I thought Ahhhh bliss.  To take a job at Pier One or Starbucks and SURVIVE ON THE MONEY!!

stupid industry.  Thanks for sucking the joy out of what USED to be a decent job. pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffft

you don't make errors doing MT work with
i cannot believe that
If you do work graveyard, they make sure there is not
enough work to make your line count, so why work those hours?
I could work 24/7 and not make a dent, though
it does tend to be slow around the holidays.  The dictation is lower, but you would think that there would also be several people taking time off too and that it would balance out.
I do not think they overhire. Instead, they make sure that we have enough work. sm
I don't Meditech. I like it actually. It really is just straight typing!
I can understand that if the work is low. While you need to make

up lines, it isn't fair to others to not have work on their shift either.  Depending on the workload for my accounts the work is only low about 1/2 day on Mondays and then there is lots to go around, which is when I try to make my up lines.

so you work 2 jobs to make that much
x
Me too. You work, you make money. SM
You work well, you make more money. You work smart, you make more money. You work long, you make more money. You work hard, you make more money. The key word all else depends on isn't zone, it's work.
You are an IC - they can't make you work all those hours unless you want to. sm
I'd just tell them that I was cutting back to X number of hours per day.
How are you supposed to know when the work will be in to make up?
We are not privvy to how much work is in the system at any given time.  We only know what is in our queue.  This is just absurd on so many levels.
I would rather work on 1 account and make more money, than 5 different ones! No thanks. sm
I think their new program absolutely sucks and there are a heck of a lot of people who say the sound quality is horrendous. I wasn't sticking around to find out. I made my decision as soon as I saw what it was about and knew it would slow me way down. Hey, to each their own. If you like it, fine. I am happy about my decision and glad I did it.
it wont really make a difference anyway as there is NO work!
d
Are you saying that Transcend DOES make you work 1 year before? : (
Thanks for the info!  I was thinking of applying there.
make that what I do know "is" that..........sorry now back to work :)

How much can I expect to make the first year of MT work, around $20,000?
or more
I make 10 with FutureNet, tons of work...NM

Nah, even more work and the benefit of letting you make a

There are companies that manage to make it work. OTI, for example. nm

I work 1 job, about 36 hours/week and make at
least that amount, plus have vacation and PTO, also an employee so they pay taxes.   I found that working multiple account keep me from making money because I have to learn so many doctors and be aware of the different formats/platforms and account specific stuff.  I used to work a bunch of jobs part-time and was working 7 days a week and lots and lots of hours and not making very much money.   If I worked the same hours on one account I could have easily made $80,000+/year.
You make an hourly wage when you run out of work? sm

I am confused.  Is that right - you make an hourly wage when there is no work available?  How long has that been going on?  I have worked there for some time and have NEVER been paid for when there was no work.  Please explain.

Medware radiology MTs...what do you make and do you have enough work?
TIA
I make that much $ too but i work very hard. Its possible, not easy.
x
It is IC work, no benefits, make your own schedule. sm

The pay is a bit on the low side for IC work, but the work is easy, the people are great, and the pay is always on time, once a week, direct deposit.  Hope this helps.

When I worked for Keystrokes, I NEVER had enough work to make
even 1000 lines a day!  If I had enough work, maybe, but I NEVER did.  It ALL depends on your account 150%!!
Does your company make you do the fiddly work? (sm)

By that I mean, how much lag time between sending one report and getting another, how much demographic stuff, searching for place names, doctor names and cc's, consulting of account-specific instructions, all things that do not pay, are you required to do?

Right now, the company I work for makes demographics and cc's easy.  OTOH, each account is very different from another in format and style, so that takes a lot of time.

Once upon a time, I worked for a company in which I estimated all the 'fiddly' work took about 10 seconds per report (large hospitals), which I thought was pretty good.  Not like that anymore.

Thanks for any insight and input on this.

They weed out, if you don't have work you can't make production. (sm)
Or are you talking about weeding out quality wise?
We can work whenever to make up..unwind your panties! nm

Same here. When there is no work, how are you supposed to make the requirement
asd
If/when you run out of work at Webmedx how are you allowed to make up? (nm)
 .
I dont think you will make more than that for clinic work.

I make 10 cpl at the Q, but have been there 12 years and was at that rate when my prior company was bought out.

There are people who make that, but not for clinic work and probably not for just starting at a company.  I have been applying like crazy and the best I came up with was 8 cpl for Basic 4 and 9 cpl for straight OPs.

Thats 15 years experience.

I work at KS and I don't even make that straight typing. :( nm

Is lousy, 4-5.5 cpl. I make 7 cpl at the company I work for now.
FN's platform really slows you down for editing as well.
Where did I make people that work weekends
feel they are not being Christian or family-oriented? I certainly did not make those direct statements. Please correct me if I am wrong, but where did I post that or what did I say to make you feel that way? That was not my intention. and remember anyone can post as OP. Many of these comments that say OP are not mine. Just clarifying.
No, you won't make more money unless you do triple the work load. sm
Instead of transcribing 1200 to 2000 lines a day, you will need to edit 4000 to 5000 lines a day.

That is very difficult most days, the most I did, and this is with 5 years experience, was 3800 a day, and that is not consistent.

So, 3800 lines x what are you being paid 5 cpl = $190. I have to tell you 3800 lines of editing a day is tough to do most days. I had days where I could barely get 2000 done. It all depends on how recognized the dictator is and how many small errors are in the report.

No it isn't. I think it depends on what work you do and your shift, but I make 9 cpl plus incent
x
Amphion doesn't make you work weekends
or nights.  They're a great company, and I hear they're hiring.
When there is a lot of work, do you find it hard to make 1100?
cause I sure do.
