Very high turnover rate at this company (sm)
You have to ask yourself why do they lose so many employees. This is not an MT oriented company. I would say that they constantly advertise because they regularly lose MTs.
MQ-New Testing for high tier pay rate

one more thought for the evening on the tier pay rates

are these rates for new hires or will our rate of pay be adjusted according to the stated tier

and does the testing only apply for new hires

any where on the packet does it actually state what your present rate is and if not, and all the packets being sent out are the same, why were we all called--do we have to sign anything and send it back to MQ and when does all this go into effect

thanks for all your help

That would be high line count not rate. Sorry about that. NM

For Escription I think 4 to 4.5 base rate, which seems to be on the high
end of the scale that companies pay for Escription editing. Hope that helps.
Actually, a high turnover rate more likely means
that the GOOD MTs are staying put and the MTs who had to cheat on their test and/or lie during their interview, have no experience, or are just job hoppers tend to run off when they can't hack the accounts they have been assigned.

A high turnover rate means all the good MTs

leave and only MTs left at the company are probably the ones who had trouble getting the job they have let alone leaving to find a new one.  That's what a high turnover rate means.  Not to mention, why would anyone want to work for a company with a high turnover rate?  Something's wrong if people keep leaving.

It's called logic and deductive reasoning.  And some people in this neck of the cyber woods are sorely lacking in both.

High turnover rate? I don't think so. I have worked with the same group sm
for the past 2 years and the only change has been that the account got busier and 5 or 6 people were added. Keystrokes is a great company, and they do a lot for all of us.
High line rate versus possible lines per hour....

I'd like your opinions...  I think it's more important to be able to produce a high line count than what your actual cents per line rate is.  $0.10/line means nothing to me if I have to struggle to produce 200 lines per hour because of their format or platform.  I'd rather make $0.07/line if I can count on producing 500 lines per hour.

Just something to think about when you interview with a potential employer who tries to dazzle you with a high line rate.  I always ask about the average line counts and if they have auto-populated headings.  We don't get paid for auto-populated headings (which can make a significant difference in our line counts), yet I'm sure the service bills the hospital for them.

Pays per page, top rate less than what I made 10 yeasr ago, benefits high

I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
I'm original poster and a high level 4 as well with high ESL accts, which I've always had...sm
My accts (10+) for the previous 12 years were all in the LA area. I consider ESL at Webmedx easy, even though my WebmedX accts are supposed to be high ESL. ALL of my STMs accounts are low on work--quite low. I've added more accounts. Not helpful if all are low in work. My supervisor at MQ was more helpful than my Webmedx STM.
I used to have a QA guy that couldn't transcribe, couldn't fill in a blank,

but was anal retentive when it came to punctuation.  You would have a report with 10 blanks in it because of poor sound quality, and he wouldn't fill in one blank, but he had put commas all throughout your report, or taken apostrophes out, etc. and he wasn't correct in his punctuation a lot of the time.   Several of the MTs complained about him and asked to not have him do their QA, so he was demoted from QA to an MT.  Well, as I said earlier, he couldn't fill in a blank.  I saw a couple of his reports and there was blank after blank in reports that I had no trouble with at all.  He also didn't proof his reports because he would have inapproriate/incorrect expansions in them.  Not sure if he left on his own, or didn't really have a choice.  Anyway, talk to your supervisor.  Maybe this person is just on a power trip, knows you are new and wants to train you to do it her way, even if your way isn't incorrect.  I think punctuation is a valid issue, but if it doesn't change the integrity of the report and there are no other errors it shouldn't be flagged by QA.    You could also take into account her corrections and maybe try to use a few more commas, etc. and that might help.

Oh, I couldn't understand them. I didn't try them all, but the first couple, I couldn't und

okay. I misread it--sm
I thought it said *you have to go to their train to pick up the loaded computer.* my mistake..sorry. had to ask. thanks
You misread this sm
I said 50 companies, not all of them were nationals.

In fairness to myself, I have had two longstanding IC positions. I always work more than one place, eggs all in one basket thing, and I know you understand this, or should. I'd work PT right along side of these long-held situations. I don't suffer fools gladly and I have a low quotient for putting with crap.

I have had recruiters lie to me. This has happened several times only to get in there and find the work stinks, the voice files are bad, I can't get IT help, the platform is unworkable and no help available, the QA person decides that name calling is appropriate, the owner loses the account, the owner decides that my paycheck is larger than hers and nixes my load, they expect me to work 24/7 or be on-call 24/7 or both, and the worst, as we all know, is running out of work.

Last year, I had one job I have had for years and I worked for 5 other places. One hired me and didn't train me. One hired me and I didn't have to be trained, I knew their system, but getting any type of help...well they never answered IM or emails, but if they needed help they were on the phone once in the middle of the night! Two used Bayscribe and that is fine, BUT one of them had her friend QA my work and when she got through it was full of errors and she would change terminology to English words. These counted against me as an MT and I told the manager about it and she blew me off and it continued to happen while I was berated about the quality of my work that had been through QA... The other I never did work for because of a paperwork problem on both our parts.

The last of these five was okay. It paid very well. I stuck this out for 6 long months. The QA staff was absolutely terrible, had had a total of 6 yrs MT between the two of them and didn't have a clue. The work itself was grueling, but I was doing fine with it...until they ran out of work again, and again and again about every 4 or 5 days nothing and I mean not one single job on the system for any of us all day.

In 2006, I didn't work a single PT job at all and in 2005 I didn't either. Those were good years because I had a lot of work and I was happy where I was at.

When you gotta make ends meet and you are raising kids alone you do what you gotta do.
Sorry - misread
I see it said 65 character. Would still do it for part-time work depending on other details of the job.

You obviously misread the post.
This is the very reason why I directed my post to MTSOs because so many MTs do not take the time to read things in order to get the true meaning of the post.

This in no way allows any snooping. It does not give the MTSO access to your PC. It is simply a diagnostic report that lays out the specs of ones PC. Nothing more.
I misread what you wrote and apologize.
My response below was a result of my misunderstanding!

My apologies, MtMommyof2!

You misread reponse previous to last
The lead Editor was not the moody, hard to get along with person. Do not now if she is there now though. Stay away from the owner-bipolar/psycho personality.
You misread. The entire MT industry is a
out of hundreds of thousands. Most people that get hired for job get put to work as soon as possible. The MT industry 'hires' people, then twiddles around with them for weeks. The MT is always the very last one in the pecking order, even though they are the ones who actually do the work that the MTSO gets paid for.
You misread or misunderstood her post. It isn't
the bank she was worried about having the info but the MTSO having her banking information.   Between no check, corrupted file that contained the contract, and the phone being disconnected I would be seriously concerned and keep daily watch on my account.  Working without a signed contract isn't a good idea, though having a signed contract isn't foolproof either.
I misread your post - I thought it was about fraud

This seems to be pro-offshore board. Messages against offshore often just disappear.

for MQ STAT employees tier rate applies to ME rate as well and how calcluated?
for a STAT MQ employee:  Does anyone know if the tier rate is going to be applied to the ME rate as well or are they going to go with the 80% of the MT rate for each tier level?  If the tier rate doesn't apply as well to the ME rate then going by the 80% of the MT rate is less than if the tier rate would be applied.  I'm sure that MQ is going to go by whatever keeps money in their pockets.  Guess this is a question for the supervisor tomorrow.
Their line rate was less than my current nat'l rate, even with mucho experience. nm

VR rate is 1/2 rate of traditional typing,I believe it is 4 cents line.

I took that to mean you can get to that rate after 1600 lines and that is not the starting rate.
:
Webmedx ASR rate is 70% of your regular line rate. sm
So if you are on a 9 cpl account, you get 6.3 CPL plus any bonus / incentives / shift differential.
From the current editing rate not typing rate

I think a lot of the high $$ MTs

produce the lines, but not necessarily the quality.  I know lots of MTs who never do any type of proofing before submitting work.  I used to work with one high producer, but the quality of her work was horrible.  This was several years ago and no spellchecker and no QA.  She would never survive in this business now with the error rate she had.

I'm sure there are some quality MTs that can also produce a huge amount of lines because they learn to work smarter and can type like a demon.

I couldn't have said it better. Thanks! nm

Very good post!   Very straight forward and honest.  I was a recruiter as well, it can be pretty good money, but as this poster said, you are told what you need to say and a lot of the time given false information about the account you are hiring for.  It's a very rewarding job most of the time and I personally met a ton of truly wonderful people, but on the flip side - this is the person who gets nailed the minute something goes wrong whether it from the new employee or the supervisor of the account.  Very thankless position.  Think twice before wishing to do this.. very high stress.     Good luck to you!!
No, no, no - that couldn't have been the SAME
She would never be condescending or disrespectful of MTs.  She, herself, is an MT and has the deepest respect for what we do.  I think you must have spoken to someone else.
you ARE on the high end of

the pay scale and congrads to you!
