I have worked 2 jobs almost all of my adult life. sm

I was always raised to believe that you could do anything you wanted or have anything that you wanted if you were willing to work for it, so that is what I have done.  I have worked at home the last 10 years or so, so that makes it not so tough.  It would be different if I had to slap on the heels and hose and commute across town to the various jobs, plus try to run home to let my doggie out. 


I agree with you in that you cannot leave your fate in the hands of any company.  We have to take care of ourselves -- seems as though no one else is going to.  I always get a bit nervous with the big holidays coming up, but I figure surely with 3 jobs (1 FT, 1 almost FT, and 1 PT), I can make it through unscathed this year.  Hope so anyway ......


Sorry that you were forced into doing the extra job thing, but it certainly makes sense.  The first work at home job I had, I panicked when I ran out of work and I called the office, only to have the account manager LAUGH at me and say oh, just take the day off.  I was an employee, not an IC, and when it happened several days in a row, I did NOT find it amusing.  Oh well... bad memories.  Things are better now, and I hope they are better for you too.

Okay, here is a GLARING statement- a statement that begs to point out the inconsistencies and offers a glimpse into what type of company this is:

and then you have:  they will ALWAYS give the work to a US-based MLS if they have a choice.


OF COURSE TRANSCEND HAS A CHOICE!  All companies contracted with them would ALLOW U.S. based transcriptionists to transcribe everything!  What, is Transcend going to telL the client Hey, you don't have a choice - it's going to India?  NO!!!  It is Transcend who is making the choice for them - and YOU!  If they really, really gave a hoot about the USA and keeping Americans working, they wouldn't offshore a darn thing!  Now, whether they introduce a reduced line rate to those companies to entice them to send our precious medical info overseas, I don't know.  And of course the managers are going to come on here and try to play it down - THEY NEED THEIR JOBS!  How can you management people come on here and act like you're ready to be these people's best friends when you probably have an idea of what's going on - maybe you don't really - maybe you just believe whatever propaganda is being told to you by your employer?


People, it is ALL ABOUT THE MIGHTY DOLLAR TO TRANSCEND!  15% off-shoring?!  Any percent is TOO MUCH!  It is MDI's decision of what to do with their company, but Transcend, please don't come on here and try to sugar-coat things and make them better than they most likely are - especially by that statement above made by the President of Transcend.  Hasen't the sneakiness and deceit gone on long enough?  Give these poor MT's a break and tell them the TRUTH!  But that won't happen, just like it hasn't until they were forced to. 


With a statement posted above from the President of Transcend, I would NEVER go to work for them - NEVER.  How stupid do they think we are?  Even a 5th grader can figure that statement out


I've always thought that
I have to laugh when someone talks about the 'sisterhood' because there sure as heck is not one. Women turn on each other, stab each other in the back, and are much more cruel and vindictive than men are. A women will not just step over another woman, she will plant her foot firmly in the middle of another woman's chest and grind her stiletto in.

Maybe at some point in history we were a compassionate, nurturing gender. But you don't have to go too far down the posts on any of the forum pages to realize that those days are drawing to an end. Empathy? It ain't coming from the sistuhs.

I've thought about that and continuing
to MT.  The only thing that stopped me was one account I have is a rad account that I sometimes do not finish until after 3.  If it wasn't for that it would have been perfect extra money job.

Is there a minimum number of lines per day or hours per day?  What platform do they use?  Do they pay for spaces and demographics?

It is a horrible story that is becoming almost the norm...

I was told today by a national transcription company that due to my lack of experience in the last eight years.... that I was unqualified to work for them as they need people with recent acute care status. I have worked for a group of orthopaedic surgeons for eight years and went to work for them because my job at the hospital was phased out due to outsourcing. I have 36 years of experience as a Transcriptionist and all but the last eight were in a hospital setting. I am shocked to find out that I do not qualify for their company. The work at our clinic is dwindling and even though they are hiring three new docs this coming year, none of them are going to be allowed to dictate as they will be required to use the EMR only. All of us sit by our desks waiting for that next job to show up and hopefully if you are lucky enough, you are the one who grabs it first. I used to work every evening and weekend. That has happened in the last five months. Sorry for the venting. It has been a tough struggle with a laid...
This is sad - I never thought that THE OWNER OF THIS board would support offshoring - sm
or should I say embrace offshoring. My husband and I have lost jobs to offshoring. Our one son has had to drop classes and has to go an extra two years to college because we cannot afford to send him full time because of the loss of our jobs and having to take dramatic pay cuts. I am with two transcription services without benefits. My hospital job was contracted to C-Bay, which as you know, is an Indian based company. I could go on and on, but I won't.

I have been on this board for three years and have enjoyed, learned, shared, and bonded on this site. This is such a let down that I actually cried over this. I thought I had a place to vent and share and learn with other transcriptionists. I enjoyed knowing that I could sign on with a company that posted on this website knowing that the company did not offshore. But that is no longer the case.

I wish my fellow transcriptionists the best of luck in holding on to their homes and lives and jobs. I can no longer support or be a part of something that offshores. I have lost too much both personally and financially to offshoring.

It is with great sadness that I leave this site. Thank you.
Actually, I thought advertisers on the job board had to disclose the name of the company, but

maybe I am mistaken.


I've worked there 7 years and had what I thought was a problem with my check, but that was

due to MY mistake. I accidentally counted lines typed after midnight on the last day of the pay period and thought I would get paid for them. It was when I first started. They actually cut me a check for those lines that day. Glad I work close to the office.


Just to clarify for you, Grace does the paychecks on site. If there is a problem with your check, call the 1-800 number and ask for Grace or email Grace@medwaremt.com. She will check the problem and fix it right then and there. Don't go to the team leader, go to the person who does the checks. Her office is also right next to the Flannery's so it not a big thing to get them signed.


I've always thought verbatim is not only an insult to the doctor, but also to our profession. sm
We are supposed to medical language specialists with an excellent grasp of proper grammar and command of the English language. What do I know? I've only been doing MT for 25+ years. It completely befuddles me to be asked to type verbatim because I have probably typed for 2 doctors out of 100s who can form a proper sentence! Just my take on the verbatim thing.

Something is not right.


Whoa! Where've you been? This board was
positively crackling with anger over all of Acusis' MT's getting a 10-15% wage cut. We all got a phone call last Friday. Maybe they just couldn't get to everybody in one day. And she conveniently didn't mention it this morning in the meeting. Since they do a pretty good job of keeping us from getting in touch with each other (unless you want to do it on their totally monitored company email), you should check in with this thread on MT Stars DAILY. It's the only way we all have of comparing notes.
Although I've seen many negatives on this board, I'm very
happy at JLG. Not having DD is the only negative I can think of.
That is the nicest thing I've seen on this board!

webmedx is hiring but they may already have enough people, I got a job there last week.  No matter what kind of bull you are hearing from management or otherwise is a lie.  The account is gone, please look for new jobs
I've been there quite a while, pay on time, growth spurt right now, so good time to get on board,
new accounts and lots of work, and before someone says it, I'm not management, just an employee.
I actually thought of that. I even thought of trying to go back to MQ part-time!! (sm)
I just wonder about hours at a second company.  I work days (and some nights) with this company.  I have a set schedule but with the no work situtation I've been on the computer at all hours of the day and night.  Right now I have no work, so I would love to jump on at a company #2 and start working.  Do you have to have set hours at your company #2?  Thanks for the suggestion.

What good does it do? They've lied, they've betrayed us.

They've taken all they are going to take from me.   I am not going to waste any more time being angry.   I hate the way things ended, but I refuse to accept the blame for any part of it because I know that was a lie too, even though they did try to blame the MTs.  I know part of the problem was quality issues, but QA wasn't to blame for that either, although they have been.   


It is time to pick up and move on.   I think mgmt will reap what they sow.   For those who worked on the main account Webmedx is still hiring, though the best time slots have already been taken.

Not sure about if they have lost a lot
of people or got a lot of accounts, but they do not pay for spaces (at least they did not a few years ago when I worked for them). Very rude QA at that time.

I was at a lost today on the call, but it was not far into the call before i knew what i was up before it was even said. I have been looking like mad for a new job today. I have loved my job at HIS and now i find myself scared and worried how I am going to support my 3 children and myself.


Most of the companies i have found only take those with 2 or 3 pluse years. I only have 1 year 3 months in wiht HIS.


I too have shead tears today and said a lot of prayers that i find something before the bottom of the basket falls out of me and my kids.

And I tell others to save their money.  Why should we support the AAMT when the AAMT does not support us?  Let them get their money from India and the Philippines.

They only lost the
2 accounts but site 120 also had the urgent care clinic work at 121 and 131 that were associated with a part of site 120. Site 120, 121 and 131 had a LOT of work but now it's feast or famine.

They lost everybody!
They did lose a TON of people, including almost everybody in management! Since the SPI takeover, they totally stopped caring about their employees and treated them all like second class citizens! I know that was my experience! I am so glad to be out of that place! I make a ton more money with my new company since I get paid for spaces now, which I did not get paid for at Cymed/SPI!

They are owned and run by the Philippines, so they didn't lose anything really.  Everything is run out of there now. Boy just try to find out who does what, nobody seems to know anything.  It's just awful awful awful.  Cymed was headquartered in TN, Spi bought, took over, moved the office, now some chick in Virginia answers the phone with a list of phone numbers but knows nothing or nobody. It's like this huge secret who does what now.

fact that referring to an Asian descent person as Oriental was not PC. I have to admit I honestly didn't know that myself. Learn something new everyday.
That isn't why you lost your job...

No one cares about what is in the medical records right now.  Type it and file it and the lawsuits will come down the road...  probably by that time, the company will be out of business or in India or feel they won't have to face that. 


Hey, aren't we supposed to have a push to reconcile our medical records?  Everyone will have a set that they can take with them to each doctor?  Gee, what do you think will happen when patients find out exactly what CRAP is in their records.  Can you say L-A-W-S-U-I-T?  Come on, all together now... 


Lost my job to EMR
They kept saying that it wouldn't happen, that they would still need us, blah, blah, blah. Then about a month and a half ago I got called into the office. Myself and the other Transcriptionist were told that as of the end of August we would be without jobs. Now, if I want to get paid at all, starting Monday I have to go in-house through the end of August and work in the medical records department. I'm switching to general and legal transcription. As soon as I can find another full-time position, I'm quitting the MT business. Although I'm sure at one point that will go by the wayside too.
