sure they have been paid by their client. Why do they think they can rip people off. You need to post their name so that noone else bothers with them. Oh yeah, I think I remember now..It was someone named Joanna who asked for overflow help on podiatry, right? I am ashamed to admit that I submitted my resume. Luckily, she never called or I would be doing what your doing..Nightmare..

If it's the same platform I remember working on...sm
I used to type a minimum of 300 lph on it. Is the platform you are referring to anything like DOS? The Meditech I worked on about 10 years ago was DOS based. I batched up my work every hour or so, and it had a PRD type of Expander program with it. Does this sound anything like it or has it evolved since then? Like I said, I had a killer line count, but it was an ER account, which probably had more to do with it. I would like to hear what others say since I have seen a lot of companies I'm interested in that use this platform. Good luck!
I remember working for a hospital on the new IBM word processors - boy

didn't we think we were hot stuff using those!? Then I discovered this little feature on one of the menus called Stored Text and come to find out, you could actually type some text there and then call it back up?!?  So I did that with one of our docs who would rip through the physical exam so fast you could barely understand what he was saying BUT he always said the same thing (everyONE had a blood pressure of 120/80) so I typed up his spiel and then called it up and read along with him every time I had one of his reports. Then I figured it was so clever I showed it to the supervisor and was told we can't do that! Because it might lead to errors if you don't type it from scratch every time.

and how about those impact printers! Remember they were so loud you had to actually have a special plastic box to put over them and dampen the noise so they didn't sound like machine guns.

and here's the lil whippersnappers spouting off about ALL the files they have had in their entire CAREER have been .wav files   LOL too too funny

Once I was hired, it took me several weeks to get working with them! nm
s
I've been working there for a few weeks sm
I like it so far. Their system is a little clunky to me but I came from a job with a great system, so I'm used to the best in technology. From what I hear, MedScribe's system is like many out there. I like my accounts; I have two. Their people are pleasant and helpful. They have a great incentive system. So far, so good.
I started with them 3 weeks ago, after working out my notice with MW. sm
I have had a lot of work, love the account and have no complaints at all. It was hard the first few days to get used to a new system and dictators, but I am at 1500 lines a day now with no problem. I had no problem with paperwork, although the hospital took almost to down to the wire to get my ID ready. Best move I ever made!
Can't remember exactly, but it was within a day or two. Depends on how many people are testing s
at a time. Hope you did well!!
Wonderful place IMO. Remember, some people (sm)
will gripe no matter what. My work is pretty steady, once in a while have to flex my schedule a bit, after OT has been offered or a holiday weekend, but ALWAYS have enough per pay period.

People in the office I have contact with are efficient and pleasant. Pay is good. Benefits are fair.

I start and finish my shifts with a good attitude, What more can you ask for?

Welcome aboard. Are you going to be doing QA or MT?
Either way, glad to have you with us.

Seriously, gourdpainter, I have been in the same boat as these people, you are retired, remember?
When I had to work and make a living I took most things that were thrown my way, because I had to have a job. If my boss told me I had time off and then changed their minds and I did not have in writing, then that is what I went along with. I hardly think now since you are retired you have the ability to tell others about what they should do. I have retirees tell me they think I should retire but now I am saying to you, let these people decide on their own what they want to do and it is different when you can afford to sit back and say that. You get retirement, they don’t!
Great Post! I remember this all now.
rusty! OP was great, but you really explained it very well to those of us who had forgotten.... much to think about.
The thing to remember about this board is that there are more negative people than positive that pos
The reason is that a lot of MT's have had bad experiences EVERYWHERE they go, if you know what I mean. They then bash the most recent company over and over again.

The same few people seem to have worked everywhere and have something bad to say about every company.

Take everything with a grain of salt on here. It is a gossip board.

The only ones to believe the negativity about are those that do not pay or bounce their payroll checks.

The rest? Well, most are decent companies that might not be a good fit for everyone. There is not much difference between all the bigger ones except whether they send work offshore or not. Otherwise, rates are similar, benefits are similar, work load is similar.
Great people, difficult details on accounts to remember...nm

Why is OSi hiring new people when I have been out of work for 6 weeks?

I am statutory (or IC, whatever they are calling it now).  I have a main account and 2 -- count them 2 -- back up accounts.  I have been out/short of work for over 6 weeks.

Unless you are a full time employee, you get no benefits, no hourly, NOTHING.  I am amazed that they are hiring when they have people already trained and begging for work!!!

Don't they realize that it costs a WHOLE lot more in turnover to train a new employee than to keep an already-trained one happy?

I'm looking at other nationals now.  I've never been one to job hop, but I just can't take the time off any more!!!

I worked for them for a few weeks. Very nice people (sm)
I just could not make their minimum and found platform to be cumbersome - but it may have just been me.
oooh. I do remember the post saying whoever it was they use escription
but I looked it up in the search engine but it didn't come up.  I know TTS has a bad name from the looks of things.
Does anyone remember the post about traveling transcription

I see where the position was filled, but I cannot find the original posting for it, and I would be interested in at least sending a resume for future travel assignments.  Does anyone happen to remember it or who it was for??

Amber - great post!! I remember selectrics....sm

And stayed on the Selectric for nearly 10 years pre-word processing computers (pre-Internet).  I remember, we had no self-correcting - we had to use a white tape to remove a letter.  But in those days, I did 2000 lines PER DAY!!!  At 6 CPL. And I worked 5-1/2 days a week in their office.  I had 12 accounts there.  So, I know my value and I know I'm not making my line counts for the BIG national since 1/1/06.

I agree with you that MTs will always be necessary. I too have been doing VR for about nearly 2 years and it all comes in terribly garbled via VR and we have to make it all nice and professional looking.  I love VR though today, I rarely get any VR reports. Don't know where they have been farmed out to either.

Thanks for your insightful post!!!  I, too, am tired of the moaning and groaning....something I never *indulge* in.  All this complaining is an indulgence in my mind.

Be well and thanks again for your insightful post!!

I remember the jewish post but I recall the poster
trying to turn the whole thread into something ugly because there was only a christian forum on that site. As a Jew, I was embarrassed by the whole thing. I remember an agnostic poster asking for a separate board and the owner added nondemoninational board. Just my two cents.
Just remember... proofread! You had a bunch of typos in that long-winded post!

Their IT people have been working on
it for quite a while now and it is getting better, but I live quite a ways out, so I might have more trouble than the rest. Any idea how to fix it? Our IT people are not very good.
did you have people working for you sm
when you had your business? Did you ever need them to work weekends for you?

So you made 10 cpl right out of school. That was then and this is now and the profession has changed. You have BEEN in the position of having to have a paycheck. Sounds like you don't HAVE to have a paycheck now. If you don't HAVE to have the paycheck then why all the complaining. Let the ones to need the paychecks do what they want, quit complaining. If and when you EVER GET TO THE PLACE where you need a paycheck again, you will again be willing to work and do whatever it takes to put food on the table. Don't knock those who still do.

Personally, I don't have to HAVE the paycheck either. But, because I don't have to work doesn't change the way I look at MTing. It is a job that you do when the work is there. If you had your own business for 19 years you should know that.

You are going in circles nad not making a bit of sense.
Gee, could it possibly be because there are a lot of people who actually like working
there? You have obviously had some bad experiences. I am sorry for you.
What I want to know is why aren't people working?
......
Not working that schedule, but because they have people
working that schedule two days of my shift I can't get even half my time in and then even if I work my off days there isn't enough work to make up for the shortages those 2 days.    I already work what seems like 12-hour days just to get in 7 hours with that stupid clocking in and out.
They seem to have happy people working for them
I too sent in a resume a couple weeks ago and did a search and saw mostly very positive posts. I did that related posts thing that the other poster describes and it worked really well.

I figured they are probably swamped with applications if the number of people I have seen post that they really want to work there is correct. :)
If I were working for the Toth people
I might just make a friendly little stop by my local IRS office for a chat.
That is just pitiful, How do people stand working there??? NM

If you arent' happy....
Perhaps if you aren't happy with the company you work for, you should seek work elsewhere.  I seldom post; in fact, this is only my second post here, and I post under my real name.  People know who I am....I'm merely an Acusis employee, like yourself, but there is a big difference between you and I.  I am PROUD to work for such a great company.  DRC...now Acusis...has never been anything but an honest company.  The people in charge have treated us well, in little and big ways.  If you have a problem with them...if you aren't a proud part of our team.....then it's time for you to look elsewhere.  Don't cause trouble where there isn't any.
There are a lot of people who do and it seems that most love working there. I started 6 months ago
and have no complaints at all. It is refreshing to work for a company that treats employees as individuals, not just a number. I also like that they do not send work offshore and that I only have one main account. I do have 2 back-up accounts, but have never worked on them after training. I am lucky that my main account is very busy, too busy most of the time!
I hate it when people tell me that working at home is a benefit (sm)
Benefits are something that the company pays for. No use as MTs. If it was a true benefit, then they should give us the money to cover the costs of what daycare would be, because if you have kids, generally they stay at home with you, right? So, they should be compensating us for daycare costs on top of what we already make. Now THAT would be a benefit!
nope, they arent based in FL

Dont work there but you know they arent doing

If you believe hospital CEO's arent a big part
worked inhouse before. Try a quarter-century of inhouse, and all the lower, middle and upper management financial waste (all the fat cats gotta have them $1500 office chairs and gourmet lunches, ya know), and then get back to me.

My job is working out splendidly, I wouldn't say big bucks, but good pay and nice people. sm
I am just looking for something to do in the evening and weekends.  I am going to the job during the week daytime hours.  I miss transcribing as it is not transcribing.  Thanks for your concern.  But, yes this job I am working at during the day is a breath of fresh air compared to trying to sort through transcription companies, trying to figure out how they pay, by the character, by the 65 character count line or gross lines.  I really am enjoying the people the place too.  I would recommend trying an out of the house job for everyone on this board that can!
Didn't realize you were actually MISSING a day of work b/o people working O/T. What did mgmt say?
nm
I kinda agree. I enjoy working at TT, but this kind of "overkill" is why people sm
get tired of us talking so much on here. Every place I have ever worked has always paid early if the pay day fell on a holiday.  Granted, they do not have to, and it is a nice and considerate thing to do, but hardly so much so as to make me want to burst into a chorus of Go Tell It On the Mountain.   lol
Great advice. Is people stop working for them, maybe they will start paying attention. I wonder if .
their clients know they do not pay their MTs to do the work. You can bet that Rapid Transcript is getting paid by the client. What a ripoff. Just the fact that they have an F rating by the BBB woudl be enough of a turn-off for me. Crappy business practices.
Too busy working to post anything...plus no one has asked any questions about them lately...

I think the title of post set people off...

sorry, post should be under 'all MDI people and no...)

You do realize that probably 90% of the people who post
on here and read on here probably just applied to your company that you're talking about! It's nice to know that there are still good companies out there. It gives me a little glimmer of light in my oh so dark tunnel that I've been stuck in lately.
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I actually know a couple of the happy people who post...sm

I actually know a couple of the people who regularly post positively on this board about Transcend. I email with them quite regularly. They aren't management. There's one theory down the drain.

And, no, I'm not management trying to create a story, either, although you probably suspect that I am.

Try to accept that people can be happy and supportive of their employer. It's better to be part of the solution than part of the problem.
