I should also mention that I do straight transcription, not editing.

Looking for a co. that does not use VR/editing, rather straight transcription

Is there is such a company?  Must pay on time.  Don't need insurance.

Would consider clinic work after 15 years of acute care experience.

Don't like my pay cut in half -- cannot make up for $$$$.   DQS was the only VR platform that was good to me $$$  wise.

Transcend pays more. There is editing and straight transcription. Let's just say..they pay more
than 9 cpl, double of what people will be making at RC Transcription.
It sure is! Isn't it about what straight editing gets?
editors do the same thing as ASR, it's all editing in my book, and it's all a rip, except don't editors get only all the worst stuff?  About the only thing good I can say about it is it does seem to help on some of the ESLs who qualify for it.
4 cpl editing/8.4-10 straight typing.
I work for DeVenture and Lee Perfect.
It's editing AND straight typing. nm
c
believe it is 8 cpl for straight typing and 4 cpl for editing, at least that is what their ad says.

Rad pay by report - Editing vs straight pay - sm

Radiology MTs, what is a decent rate for pay by report?  I'm thinking of going with a service that uses Powerscribe and has editing of VR as well as straight transcription.  Someone else mentioned 75 cents for a transcribed report and 55 cents for edited report, but I'd like some perspective from other rad MTs as to whether this is a fair wage.  I come from a background of paid by the line only previously so I'm not sure how to compare.  Thanks in Advance!

Is this for editing VR or straight typing? Thanks again. nm
.
Supposedly, editing would be faster than straight typing
and the VR would be ONLY for those doing editing. Not everyone will be doing editing (at Transcend).
11,000 per week editing lines, 5,500 straight typed.
Don't know how much it is for husband and kids. $70 a week for me and two kids.
What's more productive for you, ExText editing or straight typing?

Not sure I'm gonna like this editing job

Straight Transcription vs VR
If anyone has gone from straight transcription to voice recognition, what was the expected increase in LPH, 50%, 75%, 100%? And how realistic was expectation?
Straight Transcription/VR
EditScript
Does KS do ASR or is everything straight transcription?

I absolutely hate ASR, just can't seem to make as much editing as transcribing.

As far as I know they do straight transcription. I don't know
what shifts are available, you'll have to ask them about that.
When you have to go from straight transcription...sm
to a VR account it is a big deal. I have worked on my second choice and I really am not thrilled with it. The only reason I have stayed with TT was because of TO, as I really, really liked that account and now they are gone. I am glad you are happy with your alternatives, but some of us are not.
STRAIGHT TRANSCRIPTION
Looking for a company with straight transcription. Cannot make money with ASR.  Any suggestions?
MDI-MD is straight transcription....n/m
x
straight transcription
JLG. The only problem is that they do not have direct deposit right now. Other than that, great company to work for.
OSI - do they have just straight transcription? see msg
How are the accounts/dictators?  I'm thinking of testing but will not do SR/VR - just looking for part time multispecialty clinic work to fill some gaps.  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks!
Straight transcription here...
... and I much prefer it that way. I have never even been asked if I want to learn speech-wreck. I've been at this 37 years, I'm very good at it (if I do say so myself) and I'm fast. It ain't broke so nobody better try to fix it.... :)
Get off your high horse for crying out loud. She did not mention that it was a transcription company
ENCOMPASS
top

Employee assistance is available to support all staff and their family members at no cost. This confidential service addresses a variety of issues that may affect the quality of your work or personal life including stress, depression, anxiety, grief and relationship conflicts

Maybe YOU should do some research before you jump all over somebody. WHen a person just mentions a name, it doesn't necessarily mean a transcription company.

What companies have straight transcription

What companies are offering only straight transcription jobs?  A list of these would truly  appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

ASP is their own platform they use for straight transcription.
nm
I prefer Dictaphone doing straight transcription. sm
When I worked on eScription I liked the platform but doing VR made me insane correcting so many little things like he to she, not to mention I made about $200 less a month.  But, that's just me.
I am very happy at Axolotl doing straight transcription. SM
I have found them to be an excellent company.  Yes, QA is tough - and some people have said that the supervisor is rude.  However, I have had no problems with QA (they do stick right the account specs, though), and no problems with the supervisor or manager. In fact, they have been more than gracious to me.  Now, I don't really know if they are hiring but maybe as there has been a TON of work lately.  Please email me if you want to ask more questions about them.
Do you mean only SR people terminated, straight transcription ok? (Sm)
Surely they would give editors a chance to change to straight typing. Maybe I am misunderstanding this.
Rates for transcription and editing.

Speech recognition.  Here are some rates.  This is not a guarantee, just what I know first-hand, and what I've been told from others as well.  It's just an average.

Cents per Line.

Sten-Tel - transcribe - 7.5, edit - 3

MDI - transcribe 8-8.5, edit 4-4.5

QT Medical - transcribe 8, edit 4

Focus - transcribe 7.5, edit 3

Editing versus transcription
I do VRE and I love it. I have done it for a couple of different companies, and how much you make will all depend on the work and how much patient info you have to enter. I think 3.75cpl is pretty low though.
The statistics are that only 7% of transcription is SR editing. Think about all the sm
individual doctor offices, small hospitals and clinics. I even was told that it is too expensive for large hospitals because they need a license for each doctor and they have to train it. When you have a teaching hospital, it can mean 4000 licenses. Not worth the cost.

It's not as prevalant as it seems to be. It is just talked about often now.

Hated VR. Made less money that straight transcription..sm
I was extremely boring and mindless work.  People say they doubled their production/lines with VR.  That is true but remember if you make 0.08 straight typing and 0.04 doing VR, you are making the same amount of money.  I made about 150 bucks less a month because the dictators were horrible and I had to end up typing almost all the reports over.  I will never do it again.
I despise it. You will never ever make as much money as on straight transcription.
nm
Is that 1600 lines a day in editing or transcription?
nm
Voice will reduce transcription and increase editing

along with lowering pay across the board.  There is a company I left after a short period of time who bought into Dragon's sales pitch.  It was a medical management company who thought they could make a quick buck moving into MT.  They bought the sales pitch without understanding the whole picture.

They hire at $8 an hour, have great benefits and expect you to kill yourself for that $8 an hour.  IF you edit more than 16,000 lines a day for each pay period (2 weeks), then you pay bumps up to $10/hr.  But if the average for any pay period is less than 16,000 lines per day, you get stuck with your $8 and are told if you don't like it leave.  Well, I did.  The day after I left they announced they were sending the editing to India.  Ain't that a kicker?  Their reason?  To get the MTs in India to train Dragon so the American MTs can make their 16,000 lpd goals and have happier employees

Things that make you go hummm.

d~

$0.05 per line for editing, 0.065 for transcription IS 3rd world wages.

nm

I think your getting it all wrong.. She is probably doing VR editing..not the same as QA editing..
Does make a difference as you are not correcting someone's else work.. just VR to make sure the sentences make sense, right punctuation etc..If you have good English skills, it is not that difficult but this 1.5 cpl is a joke.
That is, be sure to mention sorry
:
I would not go near them. Did they mention

Not to mention,
they have no work and they don't care when you have no work and will tell you so.
not to mention

the danger of hepatitis and C. difficile from having your nose shoved that far up boss's.

I should mention that I'm
not a member, just ordered the BOS a couple of years ago
You mention an
Abrasive personality.....I can't imagine which one you could be talking about, very curious though.
Not to mention DSG seems to pay better
They offered me 9.5 cpl and I was only making 7.5 cpl at MQ.  On top of that, they seemed to offer a lot of bonuses.
Not to mention ...
Now TT wants us to spend unpaid time (it'd take me an hour a day or more) to explain when, where, and how weird things happen on speech reports. I've given them these lists before and they were totally ignored. I still get reports where a as much as a third of a report is omitted on a perfectly clear audio. Well, gee, they say, it must be because the dictator whispers or pushes a mute button, or wants us to use ESP to figure it out, blah, blah. No use in switching companies, though. Most are even worse, at least pay-wise.
not to mention
extremely low pay
Forgot to mention
I have worked where I am for almost 10 years for a small MTSO out of California but have only gotten 2 raises in that time because she claims her lines rates are low in order for her to compete.
The person whose name we don't mention
At Medscribe, my paycheck was always just a little light. You had to check your lines and call S.... She was always annoyed or it was a bad time. Once I called and she was busy and so she put the phone down on the desk instead of on hold or calling me back... and I was forced to listen to the clacking of her keyboard for the next 4 minutes. Very rude.
I would be afraid to mention that...sm
especially if your boss knows you have the ability to see who is assigned what jobs, etc...With that in perspective, I would be afraid because they are not really hiding anything from you.  I agree with you. I would feel very bad and that that is an unfair situation, but again, would still be afraid to bring it up since the fact is not being hidden.  Maybe there is a certain short-term reason this person is getting the easier ones.  I would hang in there a little while longer, give it some more thought, see what happens in the next few days, and then make a decision.  I know hastiness gets me into trouble more times than if I would have just waited it out.  Hang in there.  Do not get discouraged.  I have had plenty of days like you are having where I just want to stop working for that day.  Sometimes I do, and later on, I regret it.  Hang in there!
Why can't someone mention the company by name? Thanx. nm

Where did she mention a price?
I didn't see a line rate posted.  Usually a rate like 7 cpl is a temporary rate just to see if the person has the experience they claim (9 times out of 10 they don't) or it's temporary rate to offset the cost of editing of new hires.
Forgot to mention...sm

You don't have to look up addresses or spelling of doctors' names (for one of the docs she gave me an Excel spreadsheet, but other than that you just transcribe it as it sounds).  She doesn't want you to have to spend your time researching things like that that are easy for her to fill in.
