I sympathize with you, but did you bother to contact Cobb and talk to them about it?

Thank you. I would like to call HUP but I have no idea who to contact in the MR Dept. to talk to. Do
you know the direct phone number to the person in HUP MR because to go through the main number is like trying to call the president.
Can anyone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call so I can talk
to someone there without getting a lot of other people involved before I find out what kind of accounts they have to offer. I am interested in transferring from my current office but would like to speak with someone up there first. Even an email address of someone would help.
I can sympathize
Ouch, what an ordeal. I know how stressful testing is, having gone through it multiple times recently. I've heard Cobb's test is difficult, too. I really feel for ya. I did a test for one company, went through the whole thing, only to find out a couple weeks after submission (this was after the site had indicated it was received) that the transcription portion was shown as NOT completed on the site! I could have cried too, but I bit the bullet and did the test again.

I hope you have better luck in your future tests!
I sympathize, but . . .
I can totally understand the frustration of skilled MTs who have ben at this for years dealing with the downward pressure on MT wages. This is not going away. Yes, going from 80K to the low 30K's is a tough pill to swallow. But my own personal experience is that there is some decent money to be made. Not great money, but decent money. I work for one of the large nationals, work 40 hours a week, and will make in the mid 30's this year. I have been an MT for a year and a half; I feel I'm doing all right. I do NOT feel that this is a high stress job; in fact, I find it very relaxing (I used to work in management, high pay, high stress level - I like this much better). I have to wonder why you're making only in the low 30's when you are obviously very skilled. Could there be a better company for you to work?
I would have loved to have been around in the days when MTs were making 50K +. Looks like those days are gone, though.
I totally sympathize with you......
I had a horrible experience with a company in Las Vegas. I worked for them for almost one year with no problems except occasional late pay and then one issue after another in a one week time frame. I love what I do and keep going along, but that whole experience still stings and makes me angry. You will find something better and be the happier for it. I did. Best of luck to you.
COBB
I took the test too and thought it was ridiculous. They told me to come back in 6 months, which I never did.
cobb
thanks.  I very much appreciate it.   for now I'm looking for parttime to supplement my full time.  Maybe I should look into it and see if anything has changed!
cobb transcription
They are a good company, good dictators, and Carole, the owner is wonderful.
Cobb experience
I concur - very good (non-national) company to work for as an IC.  Pay was decent, always on time, and owner friendly and professional to work with.  The only reason I left was for a career change; otherwise, I would have stayed there as long as possible.
Anyone with information on Cobb? Thank you. NM
XX
cobb transcription
any info on Cobb in kennesaw.  I thought I saw something mentioned once but cannot find anything here on the boards.  Thanks in advance!!
Any new info on Cobb Transcription? sm

They are hiring IC's for VR editing and also for transcription.  I am thinking of giving my hands a rest and doing editing.

Info is appreciated!

Cobb or *CMT* company info, anyone?
x
Any info on these companies? Fenton, TRX, Metro (in Georgia), Cobb, etc

Comprehensive Healthcare Service, Keystrokes, MDI-MD, and TSSC.  Would appreciate the following info.

Good dictation quality?

Steady work?

What are the work types?

Good platform?

Pay rate?

Paid for 65 cpl with spaces?

Do you have a flexible schedule?

Weekend work mandatory?

Employee or IC?

Benefits?

Low or high volume ESLs?

Dedicated accounts with the same doctors?

Dialup accepted?

I work for MDI-MD and have worked part-time for Cobb in the past. sm

It has been about 3 years or so since I worked for Cobb Transcription in Georgia (very nice woman, by the way), so my info may be old, but I'll try to help.

Good dictation quality?

Yes for both MDI-MD and Cobb

Steady work?

MDI:  For the most part, yes.  There have been a few times, but you usually have enough secondary and tertiary accounts to make it through the dry times.

Cobb:  I was doing clinic work -- do not recall any times without work.

What are the work types?

MDI-MD has a few radiology and clinic accounts (I think), but probably the majority of the accounts are acute care.

Cobb may have hospital accounts, but all I did with them was clinic work.

Good platform?

MDI uses Bayscribe -- very easy to use.

Cobb used Word.

Pay rate?

MDI pays better than any other company I have encountered.

Cobb's pay rate is kinda low, as I recall, and it was based on being paid by the character.

Paid for 65 cpl with spaces?

Yes for MDI ... as I mentioned above, Cobb paid by the character.

Do you have a flexible schedule?

Yes to both.  MDI gives you a 24-hour turnaround time to do your work, and I think the same was true with Cobb.

Weekend work mandatory?

MDI:  You are asked to work 2 weekends a month, I think.  I pretty much work every weekend, so not sure about the official rules.

Cobb:  No.

Employee or IC?

MDI:  Statutory employee (they take out FICA, nothing else, so you do not have to pay self-employment tax)

Cobb:  Was IC only

Benefits?

No for both

Low or high volume ESLs?

Probably vaies with the account -- probably average with MDI.

I don't recall any ESLs at Cobb.

Dedicated accounts with the same doctors?

MDI:  You have a primary account and usually a secondary account -- pretty much the same docs.

Cobb:  Yes.

Dialup accepted?

Yes to both, as far as I know.  I have had cable so long, I do not recall.

Good luck with your job search.  Hope this helps.   If you have an offer from MDI, I'd take it -- it is a great place to work!

Would it bother you as much....sm
if the AAMT meeting had been held in Detroit or Cleveland or some other place that was not as, shall we say, vacation like?

The management of MW (and any other company for that matter) who went to the AAMT meeting did so as a part of their job. Their job is to watch the industry, make contacts and interact with other companies in the industry to try to better our working conditions and further our ability to do our jobs, just as our job is to transcribe and edit reports and learn all we can to improve ourselves and the work we do. Whether you like it or not, there is a separation between MTs and management and a separation between what we do and what they do. Don't like it? You have a couple of options here. You can work on improving yourself and making a name for yourself with your company as a trustworthy and valuable employee and rise to the ranks of management and then have the opportunity to be sent to the AAMT meetings or you can work hard, put some money aside, join AAMT and go on your own.....or you could just continue to sit there and bellyache about it. The choice is yours. The meeting next year is to be held in Queensland on Australia's Gold Coast. Better start saving up now.
TRS - don't bother
I talked with the recruiter in October and he could not explain their pay rate and/or guide that is used.  It is very confusing and they have a very difficult time keeping people.
Don't bother with them.
They're trouble.
Don't take the job if you think it will bother you
I hated working for them just for that reason.
Don't bother!
I did not like that company whatsoever. Office manager was not nice.
Don't bother!
This company is a nightmare. I live in New Jersey. Constant turnover. Horrible management. They advertise over and over again. That should tell you something about them. They cannot keep somebody for more than a week. Do not even waste your time with this place! You will be sorry!
why bother
Some companies think that just because you have those 3 little letters behind your name you know more than any other MT. This is far from true, it only means those people paid the outrageous price to test and passed the test. I started a part-time job over 2 years ago and the company refused to pay me what I was actually worth because I didnt have CMT behind my name. Even though I have 18+ years' experience as a Transcriptionist and Editor they refused to pay me the 2 dollars more an hour that the CMTs were getting. So I did the same work and somebody with less experience but with the CMT got more money than me. Needless to say I have since left that company.
Why do they bother?
I was contacted by a company to work for them.  I told them exactly the days I could work and how much I was willing to work.  When they sent work for the weekend, I explained to them that I do not work weekends.  Well, I did not hear from them again.  Tried contacting them Monday.  Tried sign on Monday and was locked out.  Did not get a email until Tuesday afternoon stating my quality was just not good enough.  I've been at this for 15 years!
Don't bother...

Maybe I'm just not what she's looking for, but she emailed me back and said the positions were filled.

If they were, that was pretty fast!

Don't bother. They still run out of
schedule but there's never enough work to do that.  It's the same one account and it's still APEX.  Same crappy dictators.  The disorganization in the office is getting worse every day.  As far as QA it depends on what QA person you happen to get.  Difference is night and day.  If I was already out and had the choice to make I'd never look back.  I'm probably leaving after the new year so you can always have my place
Okay, thanks! Will not bother then! no msg
xxx
Run... why bother to beg?
Oh my gosh, please just apply to a company that will appreciate you and stop coming across as a beggar...  Please save us the dignity...  There are soooo many companies to choose from.  Why would you want a job with a place that never even returns a phone call???????  Tell me why???????????  I've been doing this for over 20 years, and I hope to never be in your position with all of that experience on this board begging to work for a particular company.... Why are you doing that?  How sad!
Don't bother
If you like spending $100 for equipment for a job that you don't know will work out, spending all day at your computer waiting for work that may or may not be there, trying to type 20+ files in 2 hours because all the dictation was loaded at the same time, having your line rate cut to help support the MTSO's lifestyle, then this job may be for you.
Why does it bother you what I say? sm
Not the business for me? Sounds like its not the business for the poster or you either. I have been in this business I am quite sure longer than you have and I still make very good money. I guess that could be because I am not worrying about what the MTSOs charge and I just sit and do my work and make my money.

Why do you care?

BTW, not the business for your? Hmmmmmm You are the one who is bent out of shape and defensive and stressed! Good Lord!
why does it bother you what sm
she says? Does it strike a raw nerve? She hasn't said anything that isn't true yet.
I won't even bother to answer this.

It's "misspelled." And most don't bother with
nm
I agree, don't bother...

The pay is low. It's based on multiple factors including QA, lines per hour and how much of your work you send to QA. I actually didn't mind the low pay because (at the time) the staff was very friendly. It's when they started the training in Trinidad that my warm feelings for this company started to sour. My feelings for them completely soured when they announced that they would be training people in Guiana as well. I don't approve of the offshoring of medical records (and American jobs) to other countries, however, the fact that they put a humanitarian spin on it is what really did it for me and I left just a few months ago after being there for about a year.

I wouldn't bother if I were you,
not very nice owner.
When I tell people, it really seems to bother them
It even freaks some of them out, especially in light of electronic identity theft and no way to enforce U.S. law of confidential records in other countries. Some woman in Pakistan actually threatened a hospital in California with putting patient records on the internet! Claims that software is made so it cannot be saved on the computer are bull: It can be copied and pasted or even written down by the MT and passed on. Here it's a felony and we're accountable. Not there. It does scare people when you tell them that. And it should. I just don't think many people are aware, realize the ramifications of it, or know what to do about it.

They all will be. Do they even bother recruiting in US
xx
I agree, don't bother
Now i never had the tech issues but i was IMed to death and just flat out got annoyed.  Didn't get my last check either even long after returning their foot pedal.  That is one company that definitely does not have it together
Why bother answering at all
if you are a no thanks?

WHAT PART OF WHO WOULD *SUPPORT*... was confusing?

:)
Oh...that doesn't bother me
Seems to be that only negative posts are allowed on this thread!  If I wanted my name recognized by MDI, I would have posted it, but that's not what I'm here for.  I've often thought about posting before, but never have because I knew this is what I would get for it, but that's okay...I'm still happy at MDI!
Oh, don't even bother trying to explain SM

anything like how to find an instrument, a dressing - you will either receive no response at all and it was ignored OR you'll get some email back from the MT telling you that they are paid on production and are not paid to find items like this.  Then they will go on to tell you that they have been typing for 1000 years and who are you to question their ability and skills?

They are not worth the bother.

After they are extremely nice and you get hired, they suddenly begin treating you poorly.  I guarantee you will be placed on an account that forces you to work weekends and they call you on days off.  That is how they operate.  They also dump tons of operative notes on you that are VERY time consuming because they are dicated by residents who do not give the proper patient information.  You spend most of your time doing detective work and NOT typing - which is what you get paid to do.  They also teach against the AAMT book of style which is the incorrect way to learn if you are a newbie and will do you more harm than good in your future MT jobs!  They are very demeaning to their MTs.  Glad I'm out of there!

If they bother you, politely ask them to take

Don't bother with CTS if you want to get paid...nm
NM
This doesn't bother me
I work there. As long as I'm getting work and paid, I could care less. It's management. It's a meeting. Big deal.
Don't bother testing
They are a HORRID company to work for. They pay 7 cpl and NO spaces... something they never told me until 2 weeks after I was hired. They are HORRID in how they train you.. very disjointed and LOTS of time on hold on the telephone. They are also a very snobby company.. if you actually LIVE in their town/area and are part of the circle.. fine.. but otherwise you get screwed left and right by them.
Did you bother to read...
My post below 'I find it interesting' that is under the original thread.

Go to Google, paste this site into the search box and click search: ftp://ftp.klasresearch.com/klasrpt_MTSO_2007.pdf

Go to page 290. Read the paragraph Win/Loss.

What do the quotes there state?

I think it's pretty self-explanatory.

The post that supposedly started this whole thing state: 'My conclusion, based on my research.' Could this be the research the person was referring to?
don't bother. I did a few months ago sm
and they fed me a big line which didn't work out. I posted my experience and got torn apart on this board and eventually thrown off by MT stars. Now this is happening. Like I said in my other post, I wonder how many MTs who were singing LMs praises and ripping me up are whining about no work, no money, etc now?

I can't find a decent job either. Thought I had one and have been working since May. All of a sudden it dries up now. Supposedly this is the first time in the history of the company. Whatever! Wasn't p lanning on retiring at 54 but may just wind up doing that.
why bother posting this?

if you post anon, maybe that will discourage personal attacks.  Just a thought.  But for some odd reason and I'm looking at the fact that you use your moniker to gain attention, for you to post anon would defeat your whole purpose of posting.

Have a great time!

dont let em bother you, gripe away. you have a right!

Those remarks don't bother me..coming
